If you've ever felt like screens are slowly taking over your home… you're not imagining it.

In today's world, kids are growing up surrounded by constant stimulation, easy access to technology, and devices designed to capture their attention. And while screens aren't inherently bad, without clear boundaries they can quietly shape our kids' habits, emotions, and even their relationships. P.S. If you haven't rated and reviewed Don't Burn Your Own House Down yet on Amazon and GoodReads, would you mind taking a second to do so?! It is a book so dear to my heart and I love seeing the feedback from all of you!! Thank you x 1000!

In this episode, I'm sharing a few of the non-negotiable screen time rules we use in our home to help our kids stay present, emotionally regulated, and connected to real life.

This episode connects directly to a chapter in my book, Don't Burn Your Own House Down, called "More Scrolling, More Problems."

In that chapter, I talk about how constant phone use doesn't just impact our kids, it impacts our marriages, our attention, and our ability to actually connect with the people in front of us.

Because the truth is, what we model in our homes becomes the culture our kids grow up in.

If we want more presence, more connection, and healthier relationships… it starts with what we allow to take our attention.

You can grab the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Burn-Your-House-Down/dp/0310369479

Screen Time Rules We Keep Coming Back To: 1. Screens are for weekends only

  1. Screens stay in open family spaces

  2. Screens are not used to regulate emotions

  3. No dopamine hits first thing in the morning

What happens when ministry expectations go beyond Scripture?

In this episode of Living Easy with Lindsey, Lindsey Maestas has an honest conversation with the women behind Pastors' Wives Tell All, Jessica, Jenna, and Stephanie, about the hidden pressure many pastors, pastors' wives, and ministry families carry behind closed doors.

They discuss how churches can sometimes add expectations God never asked for: expectations that lead to burnout, exhausted marriages, neglected children, and leaders who are publicly pouring into everyone else while privately running dry at home, often leading to public downfall or sin.

Together they unpack topics like:

  • How church culture can add pressure that Scripture never required
  • The cost of sacrificing your family on the altar of ministry
  • Celebrity pastor culture, public redemption tours, and the tension between restoration and platforming
  • How to know if your pastor is truly rooted in the Word of God
  • The danger of putting internet pastors and ministry leaders on a pedestal
  • Why healthy churches should be able to continue even if one leader leaves
  • The importance of accountability, vulnerability, confession, and being fully known
  • Why believers need community that challenges growth instead of letting them hide in crowds
  • How to discern whether God is calling you to a large church or a smaller church where you can truly be known

This conversation is honest, thoughtful, and deeply needed in a time when many believers are deconstructing or navigating disappointment with church culture while still wanting to love Jesus and honor His church.

If you have ever felt burned out in ministry, confused by church leadership culture, frustrated by celebrity Christianity, or hungry for healthier spiritual community, this episode will encourage and challenge you.

In this conversation, I sit down with Jennifer Pepito, author of Habits for a Sacred Home and host of the Restoration Home podcast, to talk about how easy it is to become consumed by the constant stream of news, opinions, and outrage, and how that weight doesn't just stay on our phones, it follows us into our tone, our conversations, and the atmosphere of our homes.

Jennifer shares insight from history, reflecting on how many revolutions were fueled by anger, only to leave people in an even more broken place. It's not about ignoring what's happening in the world, but learning how to navigate it with wisdom, focusing on what we can actually steward well.

This episode is a reminder that the peace of God is not passive, it's protective. And that when we fix our minds on what is good, excellent, and lovely, it doesn't just change us, it shapes what our children experience and carry with them.

If you've been feeling distracted, overwhelmed, or even frustrated by the state of the world, this conversation will gently call you back to what is yours to tend, your heart, your home, and the people right in front of you.

What happens when a marriage slowly drifts into loneliness, betrayal, and eventually divorce? And can God really restore something that broken?

In this episode of Living Easy with Lindsey, Lindsey Maestas talks with author and marriage mentor Cheryl Scruggs about the painful season that led to an affair, the divorce that followed, and the unexpected seven-year journey that eventually led Cheryl and her husband Jeff back to each other.

Cheryl shares honestly about feeling deeply alone in her marriage, the choices that led to brokenness, and the personal and spiritual transformation that made reconciliation possible. Their story is a powerful reminder that even when a marriage feels beyond repair, redemption is still possible.

Have you ordered, rated, and reviewed my new book, "Don't Burn Your Own House Down: Prioritizing Your Marriage, Your Spouse, and Yourself for a Deeper Connection"? If not, please take a second to do so!! If you've ever enjoyed my content, this is the greatest way that you could support me right now! THANK YOU! Change is expensive, but won't staying cost you even more? What if the reason you feel stuck, drained, or unhappy isn't because your life is hard, but because you've been "adding sugar" to what's actually bitter?

In this episode, Lindsey Maestas shares what she calls the "Black Coffee Theory": a simple but transformative mindset shift that has changed the way she approaches relationships, work, habits, and her spiritual life.

The concept is this: the happiest, most successful, most grounded people don't add sugar to things that are already bitter. They're honest with themselves that it's bitter, and they put the cup down.

They don't distort reality to make something tolerable, they don't romanticize what hurts, and they don't convince themselves something is good just because they're afraid of what honesty might require.

The Psychology This episode also explores the research behind why we do this in the first place:

Cognitive Dissonance When our reality conflicts with our identity or beliefs, we feel internal tension. Instead of changing the situation, we often change the story.

The Sunk Cost Fallacy We stay in situations because we've already invested so much — time, emotion, reputation, or faith — and leaving feels more painful than tolerating.

Emotional Suppression and Resentment Research shows that consistently overriding internal signals leads to emotional exhaustion, resentment, and anxiety. When we ignore what drains us, our body and nervous system keep the score.

Isaiah 5:20 warns: "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."

Reflection Questions 1. Where am I adding "sugar" in my life right now? 2. How can I be more honest with myself about what I want out of life? 3. Am I enduring something that is refining me or am I tolerating something that is draining me? 4. What would it look like to tell the truth about this situation before God? In this heartfelt, faith-centered episode, Lindsey Maestas and Lenya Heitzig have a powerful conversation inspired by Sheologie's core message of "calling women up, not out": a reminder that growth happens through truth and not shame. P.S. Have you read my new book, Don't Burn Your Own House Down, yet?! We are still in launch month so EVERY bit of support from this community helps!! I have a goal of selling 120 books this week!! If you're single or engaged, this book will prepare your heart for marriage. If you've been married for 1-50 years, I wrote this book to help you become more intentional with your time and energy toward the most important relationship in your life! Please gift it to a friend and share on social, and once you've read it, please put your review on Amazon, Barnes & Target! Every bit helps.

In this conversation with Lenya, we explore how our thoughts shape who we become, why people-pleasing often disguises itself as love, and how emotional overfunctioning can hinder us from trusting God in our relationships.

If you ever find yourself trying to control outcomes, rescue others, or manage everyone's emotions, it's easy to create pressure rather than peace.

Lindsey and Lenya discuss how:

  • What you think about consistently shapes who you are becoming
  • People pleasing can turn into trying to save someone who isn't even willing to save themselves
  • Overhelping friends can actually interrupt what Jesus is trying to teach them
  • Emotional triggers in marriage don't have to explode into conflict, they can be gently deconstructed
  • Therapy, self-awareness, and faith can work together in healing
  • Differences in marriage don't have to collide, they can become places of laughter, humility, and compromise
  • Fear can cause us to "lasso" our spouse and limit the very growth God is inviting them into

This episode is for the woman who feels responsible for everyone's well-being, who carries anxiety about her marriage, or who struggles to release control and trust God with the people she loves most.

I pray you walk away with a clearer understanding of emotional boundaries, spiritual surrender, and how to stop trying to be the Holy Spirit in someone else's life. Learn more about Reload Love here!

IT'S RELEASE DAY!!! Don't Burn Your Own House Down is officially out in the world! For this special day, Jesse asked if he could sit down and interview me about the real story behind the book… and our marriage.

We talk honestly about the habits and patterns that created distance between us. We discuss the stories of others' that are a big part of this book (and the title).

This conversation is about the reality that marriage doesn't just happen and stay great on its own. It takes intention. It takes humility. It takes learning how to repair when you've hurt each other. And it takes choosing an eternal perspective, to keep Jesus as the foundation, and choosing one another even when your feelings are all over the place.

I also share the core moment that made me feel like I had to write this book, the chapters that were the most personal for me, and what I believe is the one place couples can start if they want to begin reconnecting.

This isn't about being the "perfect couple." It's about being two people who are ready to learn how to stop drifting and start building again.

About the Book Don't Burn Your Own House Down is about recognizing the small patterns that slowly erode connection in your marriage. I speak on modern issues in modern marriages, like social media, p*rnography, comparison, spiritual disconnection, emotional labor, marital financial struggles, and much more.

I give practical tools, along with my own vulnerable stories, to help you to rebuild emotional safety, communication, and closeness in a practical, honest way.

Don't Burn Your Own House Down is for new couples who want to prepare their hearts for a godly marriage. Couples who don't want to give up, but know something needs to change. Couples who have been married for 50 years but feel like their love has disappeared. Couples with newborns or a difficult family life who just need some reprieve and support. No matter what season you're in, this book is for YOU.

Did you know that 41% of first marriages and 60% of second marriages end in divorce? And even higher numbers are reportedly completely dissatisfied in their marriages. In today's episode, I'm diving into the four silent killers that quietly lead couples toward disconnection, resentment, and ultimately divorce. These issues show up in nearly every modern marriage, Christian or non, and they often go unnoticed until the relationship feels distant or broken.

You can only live like ships passing in the night until something inevitably breaks.

My prayer is that this conversation gives you the clarity, conviction, and practical encouragement you need to build a healthier, more connected, and more Christ‑centered marriage — one that resists emotional disconnection, strengthens communication, and protects your relationship from drifting toward divorce.

In this episode, I sit down with my 10-year-old son for a simple, honest conversation about our mornings, our home life, and the rhythms we're still learning as a family.

We talk about what self-discipline looks like for him in the mornings. He shares the areas in which he hopes our family can still grow this year. We also touch on homeschooling, how we talk about faith in our home, and what sharing the gospel looks like as a kid.

If you're a parent navigating discipline, routines, faith, or simply wondering what your children are absorbing from your home, I hope this conversation encourages you to slow down, listen, and give yourself grace.

As the year winds down, the noise of the past year gets louder. We see what we failed at and all that we've achieved. And then as January approaches, the world shouts at us to set our New Year resolutions, to chase fresh starts, to reinvent ourselves, to do more, be better, and try harder.

But what if what your soul actually needs isn't a fresh start, but rest and obedience?

Jesus doesn't heal through pressure, He heals through presence.

In this episode, Lindsey Maestas shares a gentle, Jesus-centered reflection for the holiday season and end of the year. She challenges herself, and her listeners, to live faithfully this year instead of doing everything to be hotter, richer, more, more, more.

Instead of pushing self-improvement or hustle spirituality, this episode invites you to slow down, breathe, and return to the heart of the gospel: Jesus is faithful, and he doesn't call us to live a burnt out life.

Rooted in Scripture and lived experience, this episode speaks directly to women who feel quietly exhausted, emotionally spent, or spiritually worn down—especially those navigating marriage struggles, burnout, anxiety, or disappointment with how the year turned out.

This year stretched me in ways I never expected. My heart ached throughout so much of 2025, but I also grew in ways I never thought I could. In this episode, I share the most meaningful lessons I learned about emotional healing, personal growth, faith, relationships, and learning to sit with discomfort instead of running from it.

We talk about the difference between processing and obsessing, why seeking peace through information and understanding eventually falls short, and how Scripture points us toward a peace that doesn't rely on clarity or control.

I also unpack how loneliness isn't always about lacking people, but about the deeper fear that no one truly has you—and how faith reshapes that belief. We explore why venting can sometimes keep us stuck in anger rather than move us toward healing, and how prayer, stillness, and honesty with God invite real transformation.

This episode is for anyone who:

  • has walked through heartbreak or disappointment this year
  • feels lonely even when surrounded by people
  • struggles with complaining and feeling pessimistic
  • is exhausted from overthinking, people-pleasing, and overprocessing
  • wants to heal from trauma without becoming hardened or bitter
  • is learning to trust God in seasons that don't make sense

Topics covered:

  • Emotional healing and personal growth, even after being crushed by another person
  • The power of accountability and being seen by community
  • Loneliness, attachment, and feeling unseen
  • Prayer vs. Gossip and Complaining
  • Faith vs control and the peace of God
  • Choosing growth, forgiveness, and discipline of thought
  • Learning to be okay with being alone, healing with God instead of distracting or running. Read the Blog Post Here

In this episode of The Living Easy Podcast, Lindsey Maestas opens a biblical and deeply practical conversation about intimacy in marriage—because God makes all things new, even in the bedroom. (Watch this recording on YouTube and subscribe!) Sex may not really matter to you, but it does matter to your marriage.

See the FULL curriculum for: The Sex and Intimacy Project: A 4-Week Video Study a His + Hers Workbook for a Stronger Sex Life

Lindsey unpacks how physical connection is both a spiritual and emotional act of service, not just a physical one. She discusses the dangers of pornography and limerence (infatuation during affairs), how these habits alter neural pathways, and how to create a sex life in your marriage that you don't need to escape from.

You'll hear about:

  • Why Scripture calls us not to deprive one another of sex (1 Corinthians 7:5)
  • Why the clitoris reminds us that God created sex for pleasure
  • How faking orgasms creates emotional distance and false intimacy
  • What it means to "show and tell" in your marriage — teaching your spouse what makes you feel good during sex
  • How foreplay actually begins outside the bedroom, through kindness, affection, and communication
  • The importance of serving one another in physical foreplay
  • The "microwave vs. crockpot" concept and understanding your spouse's arousal rhythms
  • Seeing your partner's body as a book to study — learning, honoring, and cherishing it as a form of worship to God

This is a conversation about reclaiming intimacy, breaking shame, and learning to experience sex as a holy gift that strengthens your connection rather than erodes it. When we become intentional about how we love each other physically, we build the kind of trust, pleasure, and connection that keeps our marriages from burning down.

In this episode, Lindsey and Jesse Maestas sit down with Bob and Linda Lotich, authors of Simple Money, Rich Life, to talk about what it truly means to see your money as God's money—and how that perspective can completely change the way you live, give, and plan for the future.

Bob and Linda share how they started as a couple earning minimum wage and dreamed of giving away millions of dollars—and how God helped them make that happen. Together, they unpack the power of generosity, the pitfalls of "YOLO" spending, and how to build a life that reflects eternal impact over temporary comfort.

In this episode, we cover:

  • What it means to view your finances as God's assets that you're managing, not owning
  • Why "YOLO thinking" can become self-serving instead of freeing
  • How radical generosity transforms both the giver and the receiver
  • What happens when you give beyond your comfort zone

In this episode, Lindsey Maestas tackles the outrage and confusion surrounding Charlie Kirk’s death with a bold Christian perspective.

  • Why casual Christianity is no longer acceptable — lukewarm faith won’t survive in a world that mocks conviction.
  • Why celebrating murder is pure evil — and how Christians must reject a culture that cheers for death.
  • The weaponization of memory & “martyr” narratives — how both sides twist a man’s life and death for political gain.
  • The silencing of dissent and free discourse — why cancel culture threatens both faith and freedom.
  • God’s uncompromising view on murder — the sanctity of life and the danger of playing judge.
  • God’s call to radical love over destructive division — how believers can be peacemakers in a fractured, hostile world.

This is a wake-up call for Christians who are tired of surface-level faith and cultural compromise. With biblical truth and real talk on politics and discipleship, Lindsey calls us higher: to boldness, holiness, and unity in a world that’s tearing itself apart.

When country artist Stephanie Quayle lost her boyfriend in a tragic plane crash, she thought the grief would be the hardest part. But nothing prepared her for the heartbreak of learning at his funeral that she wasn’t the only woman in his life. That revelation shattered her world, and forced her to reckon with the truth: the relationship had been toxic from the very beginning.

In this powerful episode, Stephanie asks the question, "When I was in these two toxic relationships, how did I feel about myself?" "Why didn't I ever question myself?" "Why did I allow this for myself?" She opens up about her personal story of love, betrayal, and resilience and the importance of who you spend your time with. Drawing from her book: Why Do We Stay?, she shares the emotional and psychological journey of recognizing abuse, escaping manipulation, and reclaiming her freedom. She’s joined by psychologist and narcissism expert Dr. W. Keith Campbell, who helps unpack the red flags of toxic relationships, including narcissism and gaslighting. So many women know what it feels like to live for other people’s approval. Whether it’s in our marriages, motherhood, friendships, or even our faith communities. We project the “perfect” version of ourselves: kind, put-together, selfless, always smiling… but most of us are just freaking exhausted.

In today’s episode, I sit down with Dr. Merry Lin, clinical psychologist, speaker, and author of The Fully Lived Life and The Great Unbecoming. Dr. Lin shares her personal story of growing up as the only Asian family in her community, and how she tried to become the “whitest, kindest, most Christian” version of herself just to be accepted. She opens up about what it means to live out of our shadow self—the insecure, performative part of us that craves belonging—and how that can keep us stuck in unhealthy cycles of performance and people-pleasing.

Together, we also wrestle with a powerful tension many women feel: believing that living in their flesh is living in their essential, selfish self, and therefore sinful. But our essential self is not selfish. The Bible says we are created in the image of God, and the word for “image” means essence. That means who we really are—our true, God-breathed self—is a reflection of His glory. Every woman reflects a different aspect of that glory.

In today's episode, we talk about:

  • Why so many women feel like they must project a polished version of themselves (and how it’s draining their souls).
  • The difference between living out of the shadow self vs. the essential, God-breathed self.
  • How compassion and grace for ourselves unlocks healing.
  • Why unbecoming the false self is actually the only way to truly become who God made us to be.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re performing your life instead of actually living it, this conversation will remind you that freedom begins with unbecoming who you thought you had to be and resting in the truth of who God already says you are. In today’s episode, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Ilana Muhlstein shares her story of growing up in a home where fast food was the norm. As her dependence on food grew, her parents sent her to what she calls “fat camp.” That’s where she had the life-changing realization: “You only get one body.”

From that moment, Ilana began making small, consistent changes that led to losing over 100 pounds, and keeping it off. Now she leads a community of over 300,000 people who are learning to have a healthier, more joyful relationship with food.

In our conversation, we talk about the impact of giving kids a sugar-loaded diet on physical and mental health - how it affects their mood, focus, and energy for the rest of the day. Ilana shares the two parenting patterns she sees most often when it comes to food—letting kids eat whatever they want or reacting out of frustration instead of planning ahead—and how to instead learn how to .

She offers practical, realistic tips for raising balanced eaters, teaching kids about carbs, protein, and energy in ways that make sense to them. We also explore how nutrition affects not just physical health, but mental health, confidence, and the parent-child relationship.

If you’ve ever wondered how to help your kids make better food choices without turning every meal into a battle, this episode is full of encouragement and easy, actionable ideas. In this honest and eye-opening episode, Lindsey Maestas dives deep into the impact of ADHD on relationships and friendships. With vulnerability, faith, and research-backed insight, she explores why many people with ADHD subconsciously seek out chaos, conflict, toxic relationships, or emotionally unavailable partners. It isn't out of desire, but as a way of seeking out neurological stimulation.

Lindsey discusses how ADHD can intensely heighten feelings of rejection, create a cycle of emotional highs and lows in relationships, often leading to toxic dynamics, chronic arguing, and feelings of inadequacy or isolation. In a culture that preaches tolerance (unless you're a Christian), how do we hold fast to our convictions without shrinking back? In today’s episode, Lindsey Maestas unpacks the truth that the Gospel is offensive...and that’s exactly why it saves.

We’re in a world facing a mental health crisis, a loneliness epidemic, and a deep spiritual emptiness. People are desperately searching for meaning, and yet, the one truth that could set them free is often silenced in the name of comfort or people-pleasing.

Lindsey explores what it means to live boldly and compassionately, asking: What if we had said something? What if we had shown up before they spiraled? What if one hard conversation could have kept someone from self-harm or hopelessness?

We can’t live in the “what ifs.” The Gospel is meant to be shared; we were never called to water it down for our comfort. If we say we believe it, our actions have to reflect the truth we claim. But if we’re speaking truth, our lives must follow the calling found in Scripture.

You’ll hear:

  • Why the Gospel will always offend culture...and why that’s good news.
  • How our silence can cost someone their soul.
  • What it means to live boldly in a post-Christian world.
  • A reminder that truth without love is harsh, but love without truth is hollow.

Are you truly aware of the emotional blind spots that might be holding you back in your relationships, faith, and personal growth? In this episode, Lindsey Maestas dives into the power of conviction, the importance of self-awareness, choosing sin, and spiritual complacency.

Lindsey thought of a random ChatGPT prompt on her drive home from Florida and realized how helpful it was. This prompt helped her to explore hidden thought patterns, emotional wounds, and unhealthy habits that impact her daily life.

James 1:22 reminds us not to just hear the Word but to do what it says, because ignoring, or justifying, conviction is self-deception.

If you’ve ever struggled with repeating the same mistakes, feeling stuck in unhealthy cycles, or wondering why certain relationships feel strained, this episode is for you. We talk about living out true repentance, not just feeling guilty but actively making changes with God’s help.

Self-awareness isn’t about self-improvement alone—it’s about surrendering to Jesus and letting His conviction shape us into who we’re meant to be. Whether you’re dealing with pride, control, defensiveness, or fear, God is calling you to more.

The difficulties of life are easy to see when they're right in front of us. They're even easier to see when it's all that we're looking for. I recently heard a podcast episode that shifted my entire perspective on how I view the difficult moments of life. After a season of much difficulty, a lot of complaining, and a lot of stress, I realized that I needed a perspective shift and a heart change. Life is really tough. It's such an interesting experience to walk through life; it's deeply sweet and beautiful but equally confusing and painful. I believe that our faith and our minds shape the way that we live. I pray that this brief episode helps you to navigate the hard moments of life and want to leave you with the question, "Would you take away all of the hard if it meant that you also had to take away the good?" The Living Easy Podcast will be taking a break after this episode so that I can focus on some family time and will be back in mid-June. This slightly untraditional Valentine's Day episode is as heart-challenging as it gets. I had the incredible opportunity to speak with Delilah, long-time radio host, who I grew up listening to from childhood into my adult years. She speaks about the only kind of love that Jesus showed in His lifetime: unconditional love.

As an adoptive mom of twelve children, Delilah touches on topics that challenge the way that we unconditionally love: how we love on the widows and the orphans, the way we share and gather stories, the way we speak to our children, how we love Christians, sinners and unbelievers, and how we connect in friendship and in community.

As Delilah says, "The only kind of love that exists is unconditional love".

Happy Valentine’s Day!

In today's conversation, Lindsey and Jesse Maestas discuss friendship, their different perspectives on 'showing up' for people, and Jesse candidly reveals his own struggle with the temptation to navigate life independently. He addresses men who grapple with discomfort in seeking help, supporting, or expressing love for their friends. Silently battling financial burdens and parenting stresses, these men often confront a sense of fear or pride surrounding their vulnerabilities.

Within this discussion, the episode explores the misconception that friendship requires sacrificing the greatest things in life. Contrary to this, scripture teaches the integral role of friendship within the church, the body, and fellowship.

Lindsey shares insights into managing expectations surrounding others' involvement in her greatest achievements, shedding light on the emptiness and loneliness that can arise from unhealthy expectations.

Lily Meschi's journey took her from Iran to the United States as a teenager, and it was a transition that left her feeling like she didn't quite fit in. Despite having lived an affluent life in her home country, she suddenly found herself in a cramped apartment, sharing living space with other family members. Through their loving witness, she experienced a profound transformation in her heart, as she encountered the love of Christ that led her to embrace her Christian faith.

We're back!! I am so happy to start this new season with some very positive news as well as many practical changes that I made this summer which have greatly impacted my mental health for the better!

I'm not someone who has needed or had a lot of structure, but the conviction to show up more intentionally for my family, and for myself, has caused me to create a morning routine (consider it a 'routine for the disorganized or busy mom') that makes our mornings so much sweeter as a family.

In this episode, I discuss the physiology and scientific findings about things like sunshine, caffeine, grounding, cold showers, and how they have made me a happier and better person.

On this episode, I'm sharing my summer commitments that include: 1. Getting outdoors, messy, and hands-on with my boys 2. Focusing on my relationship with Jesus 3. Choosing presence over distraction 4. Focus on our health as a family 5. Leaning harder into my relationships and community

When hustle turns to humility, we see God more clearly. Did you know that sleep is a form of worship? In today's episode, I talk about how my desire to live as a "night owl" greatly affected my mood and my motherhood and why you should prioritize sleep for your mental health.  In this convo, I discuss how sleep displays our dependence on God and His provision for us. I share 8 simple strategies to help get a better night's sleep, including establishing a consistent sleep routine and avoiding caffeine and alcohol after 3pm. As Christians, embracing sleep as an act of worship can deepen our faith and draw us closer to God. When we prioritize sleep, we are taking care of the body that God has given us - while also restoring and recharging our hearts and souls to love our neighbors, make disciples and to be sharers of His truth. Get the full Intimacy Course with 4 weeks of video courses on topics just like this one (and so much more), including 'His' and 'Hers' intimacy workbooks! Learn more here!  In today's episode, I am talking to the wives who desire sex and intimacy more often than their husband does. Do you feel like something is 'wrong' with him or 'wrong' with you? Let's talk about it!  I constantly receive DM's about this, and it warranted an episode of its own. Because of society's unhealthy standards (and the teachings of the church), women feel ashamed, devalued, unloved, and dirty when they desire sex, but even more so when they don't feel that their husband wants to have sex as often as they do. In this quick chat, I discuss how to navigate having a stronger sexual drive than your husband within a Christian marriage. We'll cover topics like finding times for intimacy that work for both spouses, having conversations with humility, honesty, and hard truths, feeling ashamed and embarrassed about your desire for sex and intimacy as a Christian woman, and the experiential and biological differences that may be occurring between you and your husband.  Follow along with me on IG for more like this: @livingeasywithlindsey!

In today's episode, Lindsey Maestas talks about the best pieces of advice she ever received, and also the advice she wishes she would have received, as an expecting and new mom. She discusses prioritizing sleep as a newborn mom, not allowing the enemy to fill you with guilt over things like supplementing with formula or switching to bottle feeding, making time for self-care, and not overburdening both parents with the duties of a new baby. She discusses dealing with postpartum anxiety and depression as a Christian, struggling to feel "human" as a new mom, and the importance of allowing God into every aspect of your parenthood, rather than compartmentalizing Him. Our hearts are heavy as we come together to reflect on the devastating event that took place in Nashville yesterday. We are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of family and community. In the midst of tragedy, it's easy to feel helpless and uncertain about how to move forward. But one thing I wanted to encourage all of you in today is the impact that YOU can have within your home and around your dinner table.  Studies have shown that family meals have a multitude of benefits, including improved communication, better academic performance, and stronger emotional bonds. By spending time together in the kitchen, you are creating opportunities for emotional openness, conversation, questions and self-esteem building.  In today's episode, I wanted to offer a prayer for you to pray around the table with your family in honor of the victims of the Nashville shooting and their loved ones. I pray that this episode will inspire you to make family meals a priority in your own life and to snuggle your loved ones a little more tightly every single day.  Follow along with me on instagram @livingeasywithlindsey. Today I had the opportunity to interview Ashlee Gadd, founder of Coffee + Crumbs and author of Create Anyway: The Joy of Pursuing Creativity in the Margins of Motherhood.  Ashlee is passionate about encouraging women to embrace creativity in their lives as a means to enhance their well-being and that of their families. We talked about overcoming the guilt of pursuing creative passions: Ashlee noted that many women feel guilty for taking time to pursue their creative passions, viewing it as selfish, but reminds us how creativity can be a vital source of self-care and can contribute positively to family life. We touch on how creativity brings solidarity between you and your children, the importance of doing things solely for the purpose of enjoyment and how creativity can improve your mental health, leading to a more fulfilling, God-honoring life.  Follow along with us on IG @ashleegadd and @livingeasywithlindsey.

In today's conversation, Lindsey discusses the damage that pride can have on our marriages and our friendships and why pride may be the deadliest of the 7 deadly sins. She discusses why God hates pride, and why the world's rhetoric of "self-love", "self-consumption" and "self-care" causes excessive loneliness more than it brings peace.

We all struggle with pride as Christians and pride lead to selfishness and a lack of neighborly love.

Lindsey challenges her listeners to evaluate their own hearts in finding fault in others - whether seek unconditional love and selflessness and to be quick to apologize and acknowledge wrongdoing.

On today's episode, Lindsey Maestas talks about gluttony. Many of us don't think that we struggle with this, but gluttony is the most tolerated sin in the United States. If we’re honest with ourselves, most of us have a dysfunctional or unhealthy relationship with food - whether that is over-indulging, emotionally eating, or punishing ourselves by withholding food.  She shares the importance of fasting from food as a form of worship, rather than a form of weight loss, and talks about why this spiritual self-discipline can change your relationship with food. In our influencer-heavy society, we are consumed by the things we 'need' to be buying, wearing, driving, and consuming...and it all leads to emptiness.

In scripture we see that God defines greed as something that brings ruin (Prov. 15:27), stirs conflict (Prov. 28:25), and destroys (Prov. 29:4).

On today's episode, I am discussing the damage caused by greed - how it ruins relationship, stops conversation and connection, steals from the opportunity from generosity and rejoicing, and becomes all-consuming.

Envy is one of the only sins that makes little sense - because it doesn't bring a sense of temporary pleasure along with it. Jealousy is often a painful, shocking experience that leads us to further emptiness and discontentment, damaging relationships and destroying our own joy.

In the second episode of my Seven Deadly Sins Series, I am talking about laziness, distraction and diligence. Laziness robs us of happiness by decreasing our capacity to enjoy the deepest joys that God has given us.

The enemy often tells us the lie that the less we do, the better we feel, but when we really see the truth of it, the less diligent we are, the less happy we feel. In today's episode, I discuss the many distractions thrown at us, day in and day out, which often keep us from the most important things. I share in depth about the importance God places on diligence within scripture and practical ways that we can be more diligent with our health, bodies, relationships, goals and homes.  Don't forget to sign up for The Wife Project: From Roommates to Soulmates. Let's talk about anger, frustration and overwhelm and what the Bible says about it. Welcome to episode ONE of my 7 Deadly Sins Series.  Anger and frustration may not be a huge issue in your life, or they may be, but we all have areas that truly trigger us. Do you find that you're someone who stonewalls, lashes out, gives the silent treatment, slams on the horn or just expresses their anger in unhealthy ways? I am discussing what the Bible says about anger and frustration (and overstimulation), the difference between righteous anger and unrighteous anger, how to overcome your triggers, and the need to speak your mind or defend yourself in a way that doesn't glorify God. I share my own story of struggling with anger as a mom, how my reactions have disconnected me from my children, and why and how I've done the work to grow. I am giving scriptures that you can memorize to help with your anger and frustration as a friend, sibling, parent, friend, etc. Watch the video on YouTube. But there is always hope. He discusses his experience in overcoming porn addiction through God’s grace and restoration. He talks about the concept of re-framing our minds from attraction —> sex —> orgasm’. He challenges couples to spend energy on other soul-bonding and connecting physical activities aside from sex to break the addiction to sexual release. These 3 simple things have transformed our marriage within the last year. And when I say that, I mean they have altered the trajectory of our marriage completely - for the better - and they really aren't extremely difficult to implement.

Jesse and I have had many discussions this past year about how we have built up emotional and physical walls against one another. We saw that we were hardening toward one another - and had been hardening our hearts for quite a long time. We withheld compliments, praise and affection for reasons that we didn't even realize.

When we implemented these steps, we saw the walls come down and our affection and closeness increase tenfold.

I pray that this episode encourages you to continue working toward growth, healing, and beautiful HOPE in your marriage. Jesus sees you and your every need!

Board Certified Holistic Health and Nutrition Practitioner, Dana Kay, knew right away that her son was different. She used to wake up dreading what kind of mood he would be in. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with ADHD, but the medications weren't helping him.

Jesse and I have personally seen a very real shift in the behavior and physical health of our own boys after adjusting their diet toward cleaner, more natural foods.

On today's episode, Dana and I talk about gut-brain connection, the foods that can reduce negative behaviors and how to determine the foods that are causing behavioral problems within your home.

Many millennial parents are fearful of allowing their children to live independently because they worry about the disconnect in the relationship. However, Chris and Holly discuss how independence actually creates a real connection between parent and child.

They discuss the importance of allowing our children to explore, to make decisions on their own, to fail and learn from that failure - and so much more.

On today’s episode, I am sharing my own story about how postpartum anxiety turned into over 7 years of deep, intense. anxiety.

I attempted to pray it away, worship it away, talk it away and read it away, but it clung to me and my life. It impacted my marriage and my motherhood greatly and I desperately needed to figure out how to navigate it.

In this conversation, I will walk you through Philippians 4 and five things that we can do as Christians to fight through, reject and rebuke anxiety in our lives. We will discuss resolving controversy and pursuing peace, rejoicing loudly and how being reasonable and understanding can increase our peace.
I also share my own personal opinion on taking medication for mental health. As believers, we are called to pursue peace in the thick of our circumstances, but sometimes we simply feel like we’re suffocating. Is it okay to rely upon medication to help?

On today’s episode, I am sharing very openly about my past and the decisions that have haunted my memories. I talk about a conversation that Jesse and I had on a road trip about our past relationships, our regrets in those relationships and the embarrassment we feel about our actions.

I have been working hard to move past this shame in my life and wanted to bring you guys along for the journey. In this quick episode, I share four biblical ways that you can work in faith through remorse, regret, shame and embarrassment toward healing and joy.

I dig into how the Gospel, self-centeredness and people-pleasing can cause us to live in a place of shame rather than in a place of freedom, and how taking our eyes off of ourselves and placing them back on Christ can help to break that bondage.

Christine Miles is a former therapist and 'professional listener'. In this conversation, Lindsey and Christine discuss how common it is to learn how to speak as a child, but not how to listen. We are not wired to be good listeners, so we must actively practice listening well because the art of listening can deeply and positively impact our relationships as parents and as spouses.

Christine and Lindsey discuss the importance of speaking when you have something of value to say rather than speaking to fill the space. Extroverts, are you listening? ;) Lindsey asks Christine to teach her practical and implementable ways to make changes to bad listening to enhance her relationships. They also talk about offering solutions when solutions aren't wanted and how this can create a vast disconnect in our relationships.

Christine has recently published an award winning book, What Is It Costing You Not To Listen: The Power of Understanding to Connect, Influence, Solve & Sell that dives deep in how we can learn to listen differently to better understand those in both personal and professional relationships

Christine shares her story of an interest in the art of listening from a very young age and has devoted her lifes work to helping improve listening in our interpersonal relationships.

This conversation felt like a chat between close friends over a cup of coffee and was like therapy for my soul. Mary Marantz has a beautiful, poetic way of speaking and is the author of Slow Growth Equals Strong Roots:Finding Grace, Freedom, and Purpose in an Overachieving World

Mary shares her story of growing up in a trailer and working her way up to attending an ivy league school and receiving a book deal - and how none of that ended up satisfied the constant pressure she places on herself to achieve.

We discuss how this constant desire to feel seen in our world prevents us from truly seeing others, how celebrating the wins of the people in our lives heals our own hearts and how the desire to achieve should always be rooted in a purposeful work for God’s kingdom.

David Erdman is the author of The Ten Commandments of Marriage: Secrets of A Divorce Lawyer and you guys, I really loved this conversation. As most of you know, I spend A LOT of my time asking questions and MOST of my favorite responses come from couples who have been married 20 years longer than me. They always have very honest insight and great perspectives.

In today’s conversation, David and I talk about his experience as a divorce lawyer and how he has used this career as an opportunity to share God’s truth and love to the couples who come to him seeking a divorce. He talks about the #1 thing to look out for before getting married and one of the #1 causes of divorce (and it isn’t always finances or adultery)

He shares the difference between a man and a woman when it comes to infidelity, helpful ways to revive a broken and hurting marriage and why in-laws have one of the greatest impacts on a relationship

I am gleaning his wisdom today and pray that you do, too.

In Episode 3 of the Money and Christianity Series, Lindsey and Jesse Maestas have an honest conversation about tithing, investments, saving, and the prosperity gospel with Lindsey's in-laws, Catherine and David Maestas. So much of the knowledge that Lindsey and Jesse received and implemented about stewarding money as a Christian came from what they saw Catherine and David doing. The Maestas' talk about their choice to live small then so that they can live well now and how investing in real estate early on in their marriage set the path for their successful financial future. They discuss how to be a good steward with a compassionate heart while also discerning how, when, and whom to give to. David and Lindsey hone in on how the prosperity gospel diminishes the weight of Christ's life and Jesse shares why and how our perspective of heavenly treasures should vastly outweigh the blessings and rewards we pursue on earth.

I'm BACK! Thank you all so much for your grace during my sabbath rest. It was SO needed.

On today's scripture-packed episode, Lindsey Maestas discusses the importance of stewarding your money wisely and having a solid money mindset as a Christian. She shares her own struggles with finances and the ways that she and her husband have grown together in their knowledge of making wise decisions early on and what they have learned along the way.

We are (thankfully) moving away from a time in our world when pay transparency, pay equality and debt were just not discussed and we are moving INTO a generation where we have an openness about money.

I  believe that this is leading us toward further success and wisdom in regards to our salaries, our savings and our investments.

Jesus Himself emphasized the importance of being faithful with what you have throughout scripture. He promises to provide. Are you trusting Him? Do you truly believe that God will provide for your needs?

Let's talk about it!

It's easy to end a long night of bedtime routines and go your separate ways from your spouse to find some rest and relaxation. It's easy to love and protect our little ones so much that we lose sight of the needs of our spouse. But when a family is not structured the way that God has designed it to be, it begins to create a slow drift that will eventually drown a marriage.

P.S. You guys, it's time! The Wife Project Course: From Roommates to Soulmates is HERE for the FINAL LAUNCH! Don't miss it! Fight for a happier, healthier marriage in 2022 - it begins with you because nobody else will do it for you. In a society that treats our marriages as disposable, we have to do the hard work & fight in faith to fulfill God's beautiful design of marriage. The easy way out is very rarely the best way out.

On today's episode, Jesse and I share our own experiences with the damage caused by a child-centered marriage after we had our first son. We discuss the moment that we were called out on it and what we have learned from that point.

We share practical wisdom on how to restructure your family dynamic, or simply strengthening it, and why this design is created to help us, not hurt us. We pray that this conversation helps your marriage immensely and causes you to seek Jesus in the way that He wants to shift your family focus and design.

Faith and leadership aren't always linear. My husband, Jesse, has struggled for years with his faith, his understanding of God's role in his life and also with his role as the leader of our family. There were many days in which I struggled with feeling deceived by him, because the faithful man that I dated was not the struggling man that I was married to.
As a wife and mom, I have personally taken over the leadership role for many years in taking my boys to church, reading the Bible, praying over them and more. God has been drawing Jesse in recently in a way that I have never seen and we are both realizing how much Jesus has taught us along the way.

In this honest conversation, Jesse and I discuss how to navigate a spiritually dry or unbelieving spouse, the list of unhealthy expectations that I had coming into marriage, the ways I hurt Jesse and helped Jesse when he was doubting God and more.

Josh and Jaelyn Harrel (@restoredliving) are boldly sharing their story of infidelity, betrayal, confusion and God's redeeming grace.

I know that not every story ends this way, I have had relationships near and dear to me that ended after an affair, but I have also been very fortunate to see the true reconciliation that Jesus can bring after very real betrayal.

During today’s conversation, Josh and Jaelyn discuss the hardship that they faced when Josh had a deep, emotional affair, that included photos and videos, with someone of the same sex.

The Wife Project: From Roommates to Soulmates launches on November 7th! Sign up for the waitlist here!

They discuss the impact that pornography and sexual addiction has on a marriage, but most importantly, the very real work that Jesus has done within their marriage since that point. They discuss the healing process, the struggle in pursuing intimacy after the fact, accountability and how Jesus has been the healer of their hearts.

I pray that, for anyone who has walked through the tragedy of marital betrayal, that you will also see the genuine HOPE that comes with the death of Christ on the cross for our sins and brokenness. It does not have to be the end of your story.

For those of you wives who may be struggling within your marriages, whether it is from small or large betrayals, or if you just want to grow closer with your spouse and become best friends again, I want to remind you that The Wife Project Course: From Roommates to Soulmates will have its FINAL launch on Nov. 7th! This 8 1/2-week course has been transforming marriages and deeply impacting women who are single, engaged, and those married for 5 months to 50 years. This is a conversation that I fully, completely believe in and plan to have FAR more often.

On today’s episode with Sarah Bragg, author of A Mother’s Guide to Raising Herself, we discuss the importance of not losing yourself within your motherhood, but rather growing INTO yourself. Jesus prunes us as we raise our little ones, mamas.

The Wife Project FINAL LAUNCH is on November 7th! Don't miss it! Sign up for the waitlist today!

He grows us just as much as we work to raise our little ones up well during our time together. But the question that I want to challenge you with today is: are you willing to be sanctified in your motherhood? Are you willing to fight for your own mental health rather than giving up and giving in?

Sarah and I are honest and vulnerable in this conversation as we discuss the struggles that we've had within our own parenting, how it’s never too late to change your parenting style and how I’m navigating that in my own life right now, why showing up on the days when you’re burnt out is more than enough and how to deal with pressure from family members when they tell you how to raise your own children.

"I want to pass on radical blessing, not radical dysfunction, to my children."

This is one of the quotes that Pastor Jon Tyson from NYC (@jontyson) shared with me and all I could think was ‘amen!’

On this episode, we are talking all about raising boys to be GOOD at being godly men. And I truly have had few interviews that I felt like I learned so much from as I did in this one. Pastor Jon talks about the difficult burden that many children bear which is the unlived life of a parent and how that deeply affects them. He shares about how men ache to be good at being men, but often lack the tools and resources to do so.

Don't forget to sign up for our FINAL LAUNCH of The Wife Project: sparrowsandlily.com/the-wife-project

Pastor Jon offers his own experiences as a father of over 20 years and the biblical truths that helped him to build such a strong relationship with his son.

He talks about the importance of a father showing vulnerability with their son and how to invite them into your life so that the bond isn’t broken when your children become teenagers. Today's guest is Allie Casazza, queen of decluttering and the woman who helps other women simplify everything - in their homes, in their schedules and even in their motherhood.

As I prayed about this conversation, I realized how deeply important it is that our days begin well at home. Our mornings begin at home, our rest begins at home and that flows out onto the people and situations we come across throughout the day. We have to get a handle on our homes, friends - for sweeter days and for furthering the Kingdom. We shouldn't be spending every moment cooking, cleaning, stressing and then cleaning again, only to miss out on the most special moments that we should be savoring with our little ones and our families.

I took to Instagram for this episode to ask you guys what you wanted to hear from Allie, so this Q&A style conversation is full of practical advice that you wanted to know.

Allie shares how her own life was impacted by too much stuff and how it affected her own joy and caused deep depression and anxiety in her motherhood, which is what compelled her to write a book and coach women in the art of minimalism. She talks about guilt-free, no-stress ways to transform your home and your life - and it is GOOD stuff, you guys.

On this episode, Allie answers questions about decluttering children's toys, the importance of donating items without guilt, how to organize without all of the fancy baskets and expensive plastic bins, teaching your children and husband about the process, and much more!

By the way, if you have a quick minute, would you mind giving The Living Easy Podcast a star rating and review on iTunes? It should really only take 60 seconds! I love hearing feedback from you guys and it really blesses me to see the reviews. It also helps me to get more amazing guests like Allie on the show! Thanks so much!

On today’s conversation, I am talking all things friendship with Stephanie, Jenna and Jessica from Pastors' Wives Tell All podcast. I love this conversation because you are getting THREE different perspectives on finding friends as an adult.

These three women are pastor’s wives from three separate churches who love the Lord and love relationship but, just as any human being does, they have faced their own share of challenging friendships. They talk about the loneliness that can come with being in ministry, how to find couple friends and why it’s okay if your husband doesn’t love hanging out with that one person, and most importantly, we discuss how expectations, different life stages (such as having babies or getting married) AND boundaries can all affect a friendship, and how to navigate through that.

I loved this conversation and it’s one ya’ll have been asking for for quite a long time, so I’m happy to share it with you! You can also listen to my Q&A Live on instagram @livingeasywithlindsey to hear my husband Jesse and me talk about this same topic and what it looks like practically in our lives.

If you enjoy this episode, you might also enjoy these episodes:

I wanted to make a special request this month: If you haven’t had a chance to rate and review the podcast on iTunes, would you mind taking a quick second to do so? A star rating and a few words about how the podcast has impacted you will only take a minute or so, but it makes all the difference in the world for me and this little ministry I pour my heart into! Thank you x 1000!

The questions of how I study my Bible and which Bible I read or recommend are two of the most popular questions I receive (by far!)

On this episode, I am sharing practical tips on how to read and study the Word and the importance of not making this a black-and-white experience.

I discuss why we should shift our perspective about church and scripture-reading, why I believe the promise of "quiet time" can be a lie and a distraction, my opinion on devotionals and podcasts and why the Word is so powerful and pertinent to our lives.

Follow along with me on IG @livingeasywithlindsey, and if you haven't had a chance to rate and review the podcast on iTunes, it would mean so much if you could take a second to share a few words about how this podcast has impacted you!

Are you really, truly living out your faith? On today's episode, I (Lindsey Maestas) talk about the characteristics that are tightly woven into the heart of a Jesus-following Christian and what it really means to live out a faithful, biblical life.

Each portion of this episode is packed with scripture; I dig in to one of my favorite chapters of the Bible: Romans 12. I also discusses Peter's relationship with Jesus and how their interactions together can impact the way that we live out our faith and see our God.

I discuss what modesty in scripture actually refers to (hint: the focus actually isn't on how you dress) and why it applies to both men and women. And you can't forget the common struggles of comparison, sex, intimacy and marriage, having a lowly and humble spirit and so much more.

Do you have tasteful judgment? Do you use discretion? Do you live a virtuous life? Do you truly, truly know Jesus? Let's talk about it.

Follow along with Lindsey on IG @livingeasywithlindsey and don't forget to subscribe to the podcast on iTunes, Spotify or Google!

Do you ever feel like a fraud? Do you live in self-doubt or feel completely inadequate to do what God has called you to do? Imposter Syndrome is a very real thing and looms in the hearts of even the most confident of people.
For many of us, including myself, even when we have already demonstrated that we may be capable of accomplishing something in our lives, we tell ourselves that we are not. We wait to be “found out”. We battle to believe that we are expert enough, experienced enough or good enough.
But this doesn’t have to be our story. It isn’t what is within us that matters, but what God does through us.

On today's episode with Stefanie Gass, she shares spiritual and practical steps that you can take to overcome Imposter Syndrome with a biblical perspective. Listen in on iTunes, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts!

A prayerless faith is an empty faith. On today’s episode, author Valerie Woerner and I discuss PRAYER. Do you get distracted when you’re praying? Is our entire generation too distracted to pray? I think it is a bigger issue than we think. Do you feel like, deep down, it’s more of a last resort than a first priority?

Valerie and I dig into why prayer can be so difficult. We talk about seasons of chaos and busyness and the pull and distraction from the Enemy in these seasons. We discuss conversational prayer and why perfectionism shouldn’t be a part of it, the messiness of the world and very practical tips to help you get to know Jesus on a much deeper level as a prayerful Christian.

This conversation was powerful and impactful for me and I pray that it is the same for you! If you enjoy it, please do take a second to share on social and tag @livingeasywithlindsey. The 2-hour 'Modern Proverbs 31 Woman Course' Launches TODAY for only $37!!! The Wife Project will be here again in October 2021!!

On today's episode, I had the wonderful (and fun and hilarious) opportunity to sit down with my little sister-in-love, Tynisha Medina.

Tynisha has recently changed her life by dedicating her time to caring for her body in a way that has altered her mental health immensely for the better. She has lost over 30 lbs and has recently been helping me to get fit! We talk about how she forced herself into the first steps of a healthy lifestyle and the tips she uses to stay consistent.

Working out is a wise and godly decision and effort, and in this conversation we discuss what it means to show up when you don't want to, how actually being at the gym has helped our 'Instagram fitness' mindsets and why we have continued on this path together (even though it's hard.)

We discuss one-sided friendships and how she let go of friends from her past to then find friends who made her feel like she belonged. We discuss feeling excluded, how you can be in different seasons while still maintaining a friendship, as well as the importance of intentionality and effort in those relationships.

Welcome to the first episode of my Behind Closed Doors: Real Conversations with Real Friends series! This will be a series of conversations with MY people! My friends and family who pour life into me day in and day out. I wanted to take a step away from the interview style for a bit to show you a peek into my life. The conversations that you’ll hear are ones that we have regularly on my couch (or on theirs) with coffee in hand!

This first episode is with my dear friend, Shayna. If you ever meet Shayna, you’re just a lucky person. I truly don’t know anyone who is more kind, gentle and thoughtful and who genuinely just wants the best for everyone in her life. She is one of the mothers that I look up to the most in my life.

On today’s conversation, we are talking about a family-day out that resulted in the loss of her finger and the potential loss of another in the thick of 2020. Shayna shares how the healing process and the grief have affected her life and relationship with Jesus. We are also talking about slowing down in life and in motherhood and why she admires the Swedish lifestyle so much that she began implementing it into her own life.

She is one of my very dear friends and I know you will love her as much as I do.

One of the things that leads the way that I parent my children is the desire for them to feel safe and to openly communicate with me about anything that they have going on in their lives. I want to be a safe place.

On today's episode, Bethany Adkins and Lindsey Maestas are talking about how to be intentional with your children, to foster openness as they get older, how conflict is a part of every home but how you respond to that conflict is what matters most. And we also discuss how to find balance in parenting children when you don't see eye-to-eye with your spouse.

Bethany and Lindsey both struggle with patience and gentleness, but managing tantrums with grace and having those hard conversations with grace is a part of our journey. We are learning and growing and we want to share that with all of you!

P.S. Please forgive my audio quality on this episode, I forgot my microphone at home and was at the office. So sorry!

In today's honest and vulnerable conversation, Tiffany Bluhm and I are talking about how abuse, shame, blame and regret from past decisions can impact our sexuality and our sexual and intimate relationships with our spouses.

Tiffany is an advocate for justice and for speaking out and she has just finished authoring her new book: Prey Tell: Why We Silence Women Who Tell the Truth and How Everyone Can Speak Up where she explores the complex dynamics of power and abuse in systems that we find ourselves in.

We dig into the way that the world portrays women's sexuality and how that affects the way that we view ourselves. We talk about our growth as young girls and the evolution of becoming mature women and why it can be so difficult to feel intimate with our spouse when we live in such shame.

'Is my sexuality broken?' is a question that I receive often. Today, we are sharing God's heart and intention for you and your future - no matter what your past may look like.

On today’s episode, I am talking to someone you might recognize from our past podcast - Milk and Honey - my friend Amaris Beecher. We are discussing God’s beautiful design and intentions for your sexuality and how to navigate that as a single person.

Amaris shares her story of growing up as a Christian and what dating looked like for her as well as the commitments that she made as a single.

We talk about the single person’s GOOD desire for sex, preparing for intimacy in marriage while remaining pure in singleness, and our thoughts (and, of course, God’s word) on having sex with a boyfriend or fiancé.

We touch on arousal, orgasm, fleeing from sin and temptation, maintaining sexual integrity as a Christian single man or woman and the ultimate purpose and design of the sexual desire that you have.

If you haven’t already had a chance to listen to my past episodes in this sex series with Dr. Juli Slattery and Phylicia Masonheimer on The Living Easy Podcast, you don’t want to miss those!

I also discuss singleness and dating on Episode 42 with my friend, Kait Warman, titled: Singleness isn’t a disease - How God is Working In Your Waiting.

Lastly, my personal testimony about relationship dependency, promiscuity and healing from relationships is on Episode 30, so do take a second to check those out after you tune into this episode!

Today is my birthday episode and in honor of turning 31, I wanted to share some of the most impactful life lessons that I have learned as a Christian, friend, daughter, sister, mom and wife in the last ten years.

As I look back, I am so thankful for the hard, for the good, for the forced humility that has turned into joyful humility, for the pruning of my faith and the struggles in my relationships. They have made me into the woman I am today.

I have to be honest and say that I am probably more excited for the next few years than I've ever been. I am so thankful for where God has me and for the opportunity to share this life with all of you - the good and the bad. I love you all!

Are you looking at your phone more than you look into the eyes of your husband or children? At the end of our lives, I truly believe that our generation will most regret being on our phones too often while missing out on the real-life people who God has called us to love and care for.

Social Media is all-consuming, isn't it? We often spend more time scrolling through the lives of people we've never met more than we invest in the lives of the people most important to us.

On today's episode, "Do You Need a Social Media Heart Check? with Lindsey Maestas" I am asking some hard questions to challenge your addiction to social media and your phone usage.

I challenge the idea of over-editing photos, investing into online relationships more than the real ones, the danger of setting aside your time with Jesus for time with your phone, and so much more!

Once you finish this episode, I encourage you to listen to one of my all-time most downloaded episodes: Episode 07: '6 Ways Your Phone is Changing You.'

Most women spend so much time thinking of others and the gifts that they need to purchase that they end up forgetting all about themselves. So I'm here to help! :)

I thought it would be a fun to create a quick list of gifts that include my own personal can't-live-without items (like the Free People Lace Bralette and my ESV Study Bible) as well as a list of what I'm asking for for Christmas this year (like more GymShark leggings!)

I'm including home decor items, favorite books, high-quality clothes that I love, kitchen go-to's, gift cards for the clothing store that I've now convinced all of my friends and family to shop from because it's SO GOOD - and so much more!

Caroline Harries has been battling infertility for 8 years and deeply desires to grow her family. On today's episode, she shares her own story, offers practical wisdom in our Q&A style interview and discusses her unwavering faith in God's plan for women struggling with infertility.

I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to discuss such a REAL and difficult topic with a woman who has been in the thick of the loneliness and heartache that infertility brings, yet continues to lead women with faith and hope in Jesus' perfect plan for their lives.

Caroline Harries founded Moms in the Making: a faith-based fertility support group. She continues to believe for her own miracle of children & is so passionate about cheering other women on while also giving them that sense of comfort and understanding that they need in a season of waiting, pain and loneliness.

I asked Caroline questions that came directly from women who are currently struggling with infertility. She answers questions like:

Is infertility from God?

Am I not fit to be a mother?

When did you accept the fact that it’s time to stop trying?

What are some things that people have done or said in the midst of your infertility that actually helped? And what hurt?

We also discuss IVF, adoptions, God’s faithfulness and so much more.

My friend, Blake, from Confessions of a Crappy Christian Podcast is filled with wisdom and boldness and she is unashamed to share that with the world.

This discussion began as one where we were discussing difficult people and the consistent rhetoric that we’re reminded of in the church: to forgive 70x7 and to turn the other cheek. These are good and righteous things! We aren’t dismissing that.

But as we dig in to dealing with toxic and harmful relationships as a christian, we discuss what that response can and should look like.

We talk about what righteous anger should look like, Jesus’ boldness and how He responded to “haters”, we share our own personal conflicts and how we failed and learned from those. We discuss gossip, prayer, grieving over the loss of friendships and so much more!

Grammy-nominated artist, Kari Jobe, has a passion for Jesus and for worship and that love flows over into her day-to-day life.

On this episode, we are talking about motherhood and leadership in our homes, faithfulness in the church and the heart that we have to exemplify that to our families. Kari opens up about praying in those difficult seasons of life and she answers the question, 'Why do we pray if God is sovereign?'

Her new album, The Blessing, is the perfect depiction of the verse Isaiah 61:3. She and I discuss how this project is 'beauty from ashes and a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.'

No matter how open, empathetic or extroverted we are, there are always emotional walls that we have built up that affect our daily lives and our relationships with our spouses, children, family and friends.

You guys, this is one of my favorite episodes I've recorded so far. It is honest and digs into the core of so many of the issues we face day-to-day.

[If you haven't clicked the 'SUBSCRIBE' button yet, please do!! You will be notified on Monday's when one of my new episodes has come out!]

The walls I’m discussing in today's episode are:

  1. Walls that block out unwanted feelings, 2. Walls that keep a distance between us and other people, 3. Walls that hide who we really are and 4. Walls that keep us from growing spiritually.

I am talking about the importance of breaking down the emotional walls that we've built (because they typically destroy rather than give life), creating healthy boundaries as a Christian and building spiritual walls and a foundation on Christ.

I am also talking about how we build walls in our marriages and allow pride to seep in, creating distance that doesn't belong. I talk about being a 'hard person' because of past circumstances and the importance of fighting the things that keep us there.

I hope you enjoy this episode and allow God's word to help you grow - because remember! - nothing changes if nothing changes.

1 Timothy 4:8 says, "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

I believe that godliness should go into everything that we do as Christians - and that includes our physical fitness as well as what we are putting inside of our bodies.

When I think about good, fun conversations, this is exactly what I think of! On today's episode, I am talking to Heather Brown from @mylifewellloved and author of Meal Planning For The Busy Mom.

You will totally hear our connection and heart for motherhood and taking care of ourselves and our families and trying to find balance in this crazy world.

On today’s episode, we are talking about everything from balancing motherhood as a Christian to successfully meal planning (without giving up after a week). We also discuss practical tips for helping your picky little ones to eat much better. We dive into negative self-image, self-care and self deprecating comments toward ourselves as well as balancing wife-life and mom-life.

My three viral posts:

Cranberry Cream Cheese Jalapeno Dip

To the Girl Who Wished She Hadn't

Why We Stopped Going House-to-House for the Holidays

Virality is an interesting thing. I have experienced it - in its fullness - three times. The feelings that I experienced went from excitement to shame to fear and believing so. many. lies and then all the way back to joy.

On today’s episode, I am sharing about my most viral blog posts that brought me to the point I’m at today. I share about what they are, why they blew up and how the Holy Spirit has used my disastrous mess of a past for God’s perfect glory.

I’m also addressing the many “haters” (the thorns in our lives) & even the comments from people with conflicting opinions and how that has strengthened my relationship with Jesus.

It was important for me to spend some time encouraging you guys today (because I know everyone has something to say!) to speak out, share that recipe or that story and let people know what God is doing in your life so that you can make much of Him.

Friends, don’t allow the lies, the cancel culture or your ‘mess’ to hold you back from allowing God to use you! He has redeemed and used my extremely “unredeemable” story. He will use yours, too. Because He is good. And this life is all about Him.

Do your in-laws threaten your marriage or invade your relationship?

On this reverse-interview episode with Michael and Elizabeth from the Marriage Talks Podcast, Lindsey shares her own story of family-member-drama as well as her perspective on what it means to deal with difficult in-laws as a Christian man or woman.

Genesis 2:24 says, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."

This isn't an easy thing to do - especially when family members are unwilling to be a part of the leave and cleave process.

A husband and a wife have behavioral, experiential and moral differences based on how they were raised. They are two sinners coming together and trying to make a godly relationship work. In order to have a healthy marriage, it is important to fight for healthy in-law relationships by showing the love of Christ.

When healing in-law relationships, Lindsey talks about focusing on side-by-side relationship builders, living the relationship out on your own rather than through your spouse, seeking humility and laying down your pride, watching your words and voicing expectations.

This girl can PREACH! I loved this conversation so much - it filled my heart completely!

Alisha Illian and I are talking about chasing perfectionism - and that doesn't also refer to how you look or how your home looks - it's also a constant desire to be great, do well and prove ourselves.

Alisha is the author of a very popular quote that went viral which I can almost guarantee that you've seen all over social media. It resonated with women because it was a reminder that we won't ever find the satisfaction we're searching for in this world.

She shares about the temptation to chase temporary pleasures in this world in order to fill the void and why it only leaves us feeling more empty. She shares wisdom and encouragement to stop striving to 'be perfect' and instead, look at the perfect One.

"If we replaced cancel culture with critical thinking, we would have empathetic conversations instead of emotional reactions. And by talking, we learn to separate honest mistakes from actual hate."

Dear Christians: The demand that someone else meet our criteria for acceptance is anti-gospel.

Cancel culture is a toxic, dangerous habit and response in our generation. When we tend to worship our politics or ideologies more than we worship Jesus, we spit poison rather than pouring love, grace, empathy and compassion on one another.

On today's episode, Lindsey Maestas discusses the importance of setting the example as a Christian. She gives practical wisdom on what to do instead of #cancelling someone in your life and why the damage is so much greater than we might initially believe.

She shares about the heart of Christ, the importance of listening (while also realizing that listening does not mean you agree) and why cancelling someone shows partiality, which is against the call in scripture.

Let us call one another up, friends. This world is going crazy - let us live above reproach and shine as the lights of the world, rather than giving in to the darkness.

Sex trafficking may not be what you think it is. Trafficking is currently at a peak because of Coronavirus and some of the main culprits are social media sites like TikTok, OnlyFans and Sugar Baby websites. There are more young girls online with less supervision.

When we think of trafficking, we often imagine men shipping women across countries, but that's a common misconception. The majority of trafficking typically happens in a woman's (or man's) own hometown.

On today's episode, Nic McKinley - Ex-CIA agent and current head of the non-profit Deliverfund organized to stop sex trafficking shares his insight about this horrific problem in our society. He discusses the importance of getting to the root of the issue and finding the head of the web of traffickers, rather than dealing with the aftermath.

Nic McKinley shares about how you can keep your loved ones safe from trafficking and how parents can wisely guide their children to stay away from the dangers of the internet - that are much more accessible than we may think.

Sarajane Case is the powerful and kind woman behind Enneagram & Coffee.

Sarajane seriously knows all things Enneagram and on today’s episode Sarajane and I are talking about the best ways to love people in your life based on their enneagram number. As I heard her talk, I thought of all of the people in my life and how accurate these personality types truly were.

It is so important for us to consider the people in our lives and how we can serve them best. Sarajane and I discuss unhealthy vs. healthy enneagram numbers and how to know when you’re in the ‘unhealthy’ category, how to respond to discovering your enneagram number - especially when it makes you feel uncomfortable and what growth really looks like when it comes to our enneagram numbers.

We also take time to discuss seeking connection with the people in our lives and the best way to love them based on their individual number.

Failure is a fear shared by many, and it is one that keeps us from doing so much of what God has called us to.

One of the most repeated commands in scripture is, 'Do not fear' or 'Fear not' and I believe that we should take that command to heart when considering the gifts and talents that God has given us.

Does the fear of failure have power over you? If so, I encourage you to listen to this quick episode where I share my story and how God has grown me through my fear for His glory.

There is an up-and-coming philosophy of parenting called Gentle Parenting. Today's guest, Dilshad from the popular account @thegentlemamma, is sharing her insight on the differences between this philosophy and that of punitive punishment.

Dilshad grew up in a traditional Indian family with typical punitive punishment. When she had her son, she wanted to re-consider all that had been passed down to her by past generations. She then came across the concept of Gentle Parenting, which basically says: no rewards and no punishments.

On today's episode, Lindsey and Dilshad have a gracious conversation about dealing with anger as a parent (and practical tips to help you stop parenting out of anger), the differences between traditional parenting vs. gentle parenting as well as practical implementations.

Tish Carlson loves Jesus, is wife, a mom of 3, and owns multiple businesses - and she also takes depression medication.

On today's episode, Tish gets candid about her struggle with depression and how it has affected these very important roles in her life. She talks about what depression looks like for her (anger, suicidal thoughts) as well as how and why it can look much different for other people.

We discuss the feelings that she has had since she started taking depression medication - the little pink pill - as well as how depression has affected her relationship with Jesus.

She shares her perspective on the common misconception that mental illness is a sin, while sharing her hope in the church’s approach to Christian mental health as a whole.

Two of the most incredible women (and moms) I know personally, Jennifer Robinson and Melissa Solecki, sat down to talk with me about schooling at home. We are talking all about grace, routines (what has worked and what hasn't), matters of the heart, refinement in your heart as a parent, flexibility and so much more.

Melissa is a traditional homeschool mom and has been for 11 years while Jennifer has always done part homeschooling / part on-campus schooling with her two boys.

On this episode, Jen and Melissa share their personal experiences but also share so many words of wisdom about how to be a mother who desires to honor God in her parenthood.

Singleness can suck sometimes. But my guest today, Kait Warman, is a single Christian woman in her 30's who believes that there is more to life than just being married and having kids. She wants to remind men and women that they can live a very full life, even in the midst of singleness.

On today's episode of The Living Easy Podcast with Lindsey Maestas, Kait and I talk about all of the things from co-dependency, expectations in new relationships and 'wishing' the wrong man or woman into changing and being 'the one', even when they aren't a good fit.

Most importantly, we are discussing why singleness isn't a "disease", like society often makes it seem, and how you can use that time wisely to grow in joy and honor the Lord.

Kait is a Los Angeles based author, relationship coach, online educator, speaker, podcaster, and founder of Heart of Dating.

In 2018, Kait launched the Heart of Dating Podcast to start a conversation and navigate into the murky waters of dating with her fellow singles. Kait now helps hundreds of men and women on their journey through the conversations on her podcast, 1 on 1 relationship coaching, as well as her online dating and heartbreak courses.

Jesus Culture’s Kim Walker Smith is a grammy-nominated artist and today I’m feeling so thankful (and maybe fan-girling a little bit) because she is as lovely and kind as I imagined she would be.

Kim's version of "How He Loves" has been viewed on YouTube over 23 million times and her new album, Wild Heart, will absolutely blow your mind!

On this episode, Kim and I talk all about her past few years, how she walked through a very dry, desert season in her faith and how God brought her out of that season to create her new album, Wild Heart.

She shares hilarious and relatable stories about how motherhood and being on stage have collided and why her husband has been the perfect fit for her unique lifestyle.

We discuss how she has balanced faith in the thick of international fame, how she chose the first single from Wild Heart and she lets us in by sharing her favorite song on the album!

I'm asking Kim some rapid fire questions near the end of the episode - including the craziest rumors she has heard about herself that weren't true, the greatest public misconception about her and Jesus Culture, and the greatest piece of advice she’s received as a mother.

On today's emotional and heartfelt episode, I am sharing the lessons that I have learned, the wisdom that has been passed down from women who have gone before me in motherhood while also sharing the mistakes that I’ve made in my home.

I talk about tuning into our children's emotional needs, my tendency to go from 0 to 100 with frustration and how I'm working through that.

I discuss how our responses as parents help to mold our children and why the way that we talk to and about them (even when they're not around) is so important.

Mommas, parenthood is a marathon, not a sprint. We will grow weary if we try to arrive, rather than allowing God to prune and mold us as we walk in the day-to-day of motherhood. Let's do this together.

I have always been on a fitness rollercoaster. You guys, I LOVE junk food. Way too much. And I am a busy, working, part-time stay-at-home momma and feel like I have zero time for working out. But I have noticed recently how much my lack of exercise or healthy eating impacts not only me, but my family as well.

On today's quick episode, I am sharing 5 tips that truly help me when I feel like I have zero energy or motivation to work out. These are the small things that keep me going and keep me focused on my goals as a momma, a wife and a woman who desires to have self-confidence and gratitude in my life.

1 Timothy reminds us that bodily training is of value and our bodies are also referred to in scripture as a temple. God calls us to care for our bodies and care for ourselves. I think it’s important that we are at least trying our best.

Marriage in the thick of Coronavirus hasn't been easy. And there are both disconnected and connected seasons in marriage. The closeness of relationships fluctuate - and that's entirely normal - but what matters most is how you respond to each season.

On this episode, my husband, Jesse Maestas, and I openly and candidly discuss the struggles we have in our own relationship and the feeling of disconnect that we are currently facing. We talk about what helps us to feel more connected to one another when life is pulling us in opposite directions.

We share the questions that we ask one another to help better understand and communicate. We talk about the importance of apologizing and repentance in relationships and how to argue or disagree in a healthy way.

Jesse discusses the importance of pursuing your wife, date nights and why we (as wives) must realize that men cannot read our minds.

It is important that we continue to build a biblical marriage with trust, respect and understanding - and we hope that our honest conversations encourage you to fight for the same.

On today's episode of The Living Easy Podcast with Lindsey Maestas, Lindsey talks with her friend, Jehava Brown, about how to talk with young children about racism.

It’s easy for us to say, “I will talk with my children once they get a bit older”, but statistics show that children begin to see racial differences as young as toddler age, so they’re acknowledging these differences before we have a chance to talk about them.⁣

Jehava shares practical ways to have these conversations while pointing children back to the Gospel. She also discusses what her conversations with her boys have been like in her home and how kindness always leads the way. ⁣

We’ve had so much overwhelm lately. But what I don’t feel like we’ve had enough of is hope and encouragement, and reminders that there is more than the eye can see.

Jesse and I had the goal of owning rentals and flipping homes before we were married at the age of 21. We started by purchasing a very inexpensive home in a not-so-safe neighborhood (and getting broken into) - but the rest is history.

On today's episode, I am sharing our story of how we got started with fixer uppers and purchasing rentals, where we invest our money and why we have so many savings accounts.

I discuss our children's education fund, Dave Ramsey's motto of 'live like nobody else now so that you can live like nobody else' and how you can start super small.

We use YouTube to figure a lot of things out and still have so much to learn, but by being faithful with our money, tithing and giving generously, we know that God will provide and guide us - and He will do the same for you!

My real life friend, Lindsey Barnsley, is sharing her vulnerable experience as a normal momma with a newborn - going about her daily routine - to days later being in a mental institution for postpartum psychosis.

She shares about the hallucinations that she had, the lies that she believed - which included a sex trafficking ring, familial sexual abuse, a "cheating spouse" and her experience in a psychiatric hospital while her newborn baby and toddler were at home.

Postpartum Anxiety and Postpartum Depression are becoming more of a conversation, although most women still do not report mood changes after having a baby. Postpartum Psychosis is far more rare, and is the most severe form of postpartum psychiatric illness.

It is a rare event that occurs in approximately 1 to 2 per 1000 women after childbirth. Its presentation is often dramatic, with onset of symptoms as early as the first 48 to 72 hours after delivery.

We dig deep into topics like these to bring awareness and to remind women that they are never alone.

Studies show that men playing video games is cited as a cause in 15% of divorce cases. But video games aren't the only struggle - sports, time with friends cars and other hobbies can all create difficulty if not handled wisely.

Marriage takes compromise - and that includes finding balance in activities that each person enjoys doing alone. Jesse and Lindsey have argued over the topic of hobbies since they were first married. But 8 1/2 years later, they are not perfect, but they have learned a lot.

They share what they have gained from counselors and their own experiences, they discuss the changes that they've implemented to make life more enjoyable and how they have learned to use communication and shared responsibilities to create joy in their home.

My life was messy for a long time. Jumping from relationship to relationship, sexual promiscuity, unhealthy friendships and a heck of a lot of hurt. But God.

On today's episode, I share my story in detail in hopes of reminding other girls and women that they aren't alone and that God does have a future and a hope for each one of you.

If you have heard pieces of this story before, I encourage you to listen again. I have felt more freedom in this past year to share more honestly and openly about the people who have hurt me and how I have hurt myself - but most importantly, what I have learned through it all.

I discuss how I started over with purity in my relationship with my now-husband and how we waited until marriage. I discuss the struggles that Jesse and I have had to overcome because of my past and how God has walked with me through it all.

If you have struggled in any way with singleness, desiring attention, grieving past relationships or healing from sin, this message if for you. I pray it encourages you to see the mighty power of God through one small story.

Being a momma can be a rollercoaster of emotions and parenting alongside our spouses can sometimes feel the same.

On today’s episode, Jennie Lusko and I discuss overcoming mom guilt, instilling kindness and godliness in our children and what to do when our children grow up and actively choose sin.

Jennie shares about the parenting tensions and disagreements that she and her husband, Pastor Levi Lusko, have had and how they have learn to come together as ‘one’ in those situations. She shares about her own sensitivities as a mom and how she has learned to find balance with those convictions. She discusses her new book, Fight to Flourish, and why she believes it is so important to not bloom where you’re planted, but to water, weed and grow. She encourages women to 'be' right where God has them and to allow Him to do the work that only He can do. **Psstt....Friends, if you wouldn’t mind, would you please take a quick second to rate + review this podcast episode?!

Alanna Garcia has been one of my best friends for over 20 years. She is an old soul, a woman who pours wisdom into my life and leads her life with a heart of sincere compassion. We have seen the best and worst of one another, and one thing that we struggle with equally is fear of man, insecurity and striving for perfectionism.

On today's episode, Alanna and I share vulnerably about their pasts and how fear and insecurity have impacted our lives and what we have learned from it. We talk about hyper-criticism, living authentically and how to stop apologizing for 'taking up space'.

We laugh often and share our struggles and biblical encouragement in hopes that you will feel comfortable and challenged to move forward from the internal battles that you face as an individual.

Do you feel like you need a pretty coffee mug and picture-perfect setup before you can open your Bible? Do you rely on pretty Pinterest verses or Christian Instagram captions as the basis of your faith and knowledge of God? If so, you will quickly find that that won't outlast life's storms - and it surely won't offer you salvation or an assurance of your faith.

On today's episode, Phylicia Masonheimer and Lindsey Maestas are discussing the importance of knowing God's word for yourself. She shares practical steps and tips regarding how to study the Bible and truly understand it on your own.

Phylicia also discusses her new book, Stop Calling Me Beautiful, about finding soul-deep strength in a skin deep world. This book is full of SO much wisdom and challenging encouragement. It will leave you longing for more of Jesus - and nothing less.

On today's episode, Lindsey is sharing about her recent experience with two very difficult friendships that she has had to say goodbye to. She discusses her longing for fairness and justice and how God re-directed her prayers which, in turn, re-directed her heart.

If you have friendships that have changed seasons or are dealing with someone who has really hurt you, this episode will encourage and challenge you to place Jesus above all else.

Your early circumstances don’t have to set the tone for the rest of your life. We are responsible for how we respond to those circumstances.

Fighting our desire to live in complacency and feeling let down when expectations of others disappoint us are a few things that lead to a negative mindset. On this episode, Lindsey's husband, Jesse Maestas, discusses how he responds to hard circumstances with the goal of fighting a negative mindset.

The Lord of hosts has sworn: “As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand. Isaiah 14:24

By yielding our rights to God, we can respond to life with patience and teachable hearts.

This season of life is hard. In our early 20's, we were attending weddings, talking about building families and traveling without restraint. But now, we are witnessing divorces of the friends who got married. We may not be in the financial position that we thought we would be in at this age. Our parents are getting older and experiencing health issues. We may not have fulfilled the goals that we had set for ourselves.

It's hard and weird.

But God.
