The Corner of Grey Street Podcast was created to dive deeper into the past, present, and future of the Dave Matthews Band. Join us as we will be discussing the most current DMB shows and reliving the gems of the past. Prepare yourself for plenty of banter, a ton of great music, and maybe even a guest or two. We hope to see you on the Corner of Grey Street.
The 2023 Summer Tour came to a close this past weekend at The Gorge, and wow did these boys have something to say. DMB may have truly saved the best for last as they weaved in and out of dark and celebratory themes throughout the catalog-encompassing 3 night stand. Tune in to hear our thoughts on everything that went down over Labor Dave Weekend, and thank you to each and every one of you for listening!
Don't call it a comeback, but not only has DMB returned from a mini-break, but so have we. A lot has happened in the last month or so, and we have a lot to say about it. Join us as we discuss the Fall Tour announcement, the initial West Coast shows, and of course the return of one of the band's best songs of all time, Spoon!
For the first installment of “Concerts on the Corner”, we invite you to enjoy an entire concert made up of our all-time favorite performances from SPAC. To some, SPAC is the DMB-Mecca. It's where epic performances have become the norm and legendary shows are all but expected. Encompassing 19 different shows over 25 years, this concert features some of the best performances, guest appearances, never-before-heard segues, and of course a few "all-timers". We even took the liberty of creating a few new epic moments as well. Our plan is to continue with this series every month or so and have regular full band shows that we choose or ones that we completely mix together and create just like this SPAC show. We will see how it goes!
With the band now on a well deserved break, we are back to recap everything that happened from Camden all the way down to West Palm Beach. Tour debuts, special guests, and unique versions of classic songs dominated this 6 show stretch and we had a lot to say about it all. Cheers!
DMB pulled out all the stops at SPAC and Matt Norlander was there to help us recap an epic weekend, which featured the legend Béla Fleck back on stage. Matt takes us behind the scenes of his 99th and 100th shows, where he got an exclusive interview with the GOAT, Carter Beauford, for an upcoming feature article in "Modern Drummer." Plenty of Carter and backstage stories that you don't want to miss in this episode! And we can't forget Warren Haynes showing up for the Holmdel and Jones Beach shows this week with some all-time performances. What a run for the Dave Matthews Band and its fans!
It has been a few weeks since we last got together to discuss the happenings of the 2023 Summer Tour, and holy cow has a lot happened! On this episode we cover a whopping 10 shows that all happened in a 20 day span and included an impressive 25 tour debut. The band is firing on all cylinders as they are not only busting out classics and rarities left and right, but also keeping everyone on their toes with teases and fakes and song placement. As we head into the SPAC weekend, we cannot wait to see what DMB has in store for us all next!
Dave Matthews is everywhere - and this week he surprised us all by joining Dead & Company during their final tour! The off-shoot of the legendary Grateful Dead brought Dave on stage for the end of their last show in Boulder, Colorado on July 3rd for the last four songs of the night. It was a monumental moment for everyone involved, from the stage to the crowd to everyone streaming at home. Nolan & Bruce break it all down for you, including Dave's history with the Grateful Dead and its members, in this week's special edition episode.
This week we were joined by Ryan Storm, a true music Renaissance-man, to dive deep into the Darien show (his first show since 2013) and so much more. Ryan is the founder of the media company Storm Sound, hosts 3 podcasts - We Move Through Stormy Weather (Phish and various artists), Always Almost There (Goose), Things of Gold (Snarky Puppy), and writes show recaps for JamBase as well. He provides a lot of excellent perspective and insight into the performances from Darien, the show of the tour so far in Bangor, the annual stop in Mansfield, as well as some of the parallels between DMB and our other favorite band, Goose! We hope you all enjoy this episode as much as we enjoyed recording it, and please make sure to check out all of Ryan Storm's projects linked below. Cheers!

DMB rolled into Forest Hills, NY last week, and friend of the pod Brian Weinstein, host of the Phish-centric "Attendance Bias" podcast was there to attend his first DMB show since 2002. He gives a great review of his hometown show, while also taking us through his initial fandom and first show (Jones Beach 96), why he took an extended break from the band, what brought him back to see them and his impressions of the Dave Matthews Band today. Be sure to check out Brian's podcast, "Attendance Bias", which is dedicated to discussing unique Phish shows/jams with a unique guest that attended the show du jour every episode.
Thanks again, Brian!
Big milestone for your guys Bruce & Nolan this past weekend as we celebrated our 60th shows in style in Charleston with the Dave Matthews Band. This 2-nighter had it all, from a unique venue, to lounge passes to hearing some of our favorite songs, it was a memorable weekend and we recap it all for you in our 69th episode!
We are thrilled to have recorded another episode with musician, DMB fan, and friend of the pod, Clint Wells. He joins us to discuss the recent DMB show in Nashville, gives us his review of "Walk Around the Moon", and so much more. If you haven't already, go check out Episode 51 for our first conversation with Clint. Thanks again to him for taking the time to nerd out with us and we hope you all enjoy this one as much as we did. Cheers!
"Walk Around the Moon", the Dave Matthews Band's 10th studio album, is finally here and we are back to deliver our full review to you. We dissect and discuss every aspect of the record from the music and lyrics, to the production and mix, and if we truly think that this is just a collection of songs or if there are enough connecting themes to make this a true concept album. Whether you agree or disagree with our thoughts, we hope you enjoy our breakdown and review of "Walk Around the Moon". Cheers!
La Banda de Dave Matthews took a trip south of the border to Mexico for a 3 city, 3 show run to kick off the 2023 Summer Tour, and ay dios mio were they en fuego! Each show had its own collection of unique songs, liberations, and never-before-heard debuts that caught fans' attention all over the world. We take some time to discuss what went down, what it all may mean moving forward, and what our favorite moments from these shows were. These are some exciting times and we hope you all enjoy them to your full potential. Cheers!
Last week saw no shortage of happenings in the DMB world, specifically surrounding the soon-to-be-released Walk Around the Moon, so we took some time to digest it all and had to get together to dissect and discuss. From song credits, to song leaks, to a certain bass player's tweets, we cover it all here on Episode 65.
Joe Lawlor is a renaissance man within the Dave Matthews Band camp and a legend amongst the fanbase. From his duties as the band's live recording engineer, archivist, real-time setlist updater, to his ripping on-stage appearances, Joe has seen and done it all throughout his 20+ year career touring the world with DMB. He was generous enough to sit down with us for more than 2 hours to discuss his musical background outside of DMB, taking the stage for the first time with them in 2006, his favorite DMB show of all time, a little bit of new album talk and SO much more. Thanks to Joe for his time and his generosity in sharing stories and his insight into what it's like to be side stage and backstage for the Dave Matthews Band. Enjoy!
The Dave Matthews Band hit 2023 running full steam ahead by announcing their 10th studio album, 'Walk Around the Moon', releasing the lead single "Madman's Eyes", and posting 45 fresh dates for the summer of 2023. There is so much to unpack with all of this, so we had to grab our microphones to discuss everything that we learned and share our thoughts and opinions from all of these announcements. It's going to be a great year!

As we near the end of the year, we had to get back together...in person...to recap some of DMB's finer moments of 2022. See what made our list of top performances, shows, and experiences from the past year. We were lucky enough to be in attendance for some of them, and are excited to discuss all of our favorites for you here in Episode 62!
This week we welcomed long-time DMB collaborator Sam Erickson to the podcast! Sam was an integral part in documenting the band's early years as a photographer and videographer. We talk about everything from their 1996 European tour with Bob Dylan, his holy grail BTCS documentary, the incredible Dave & Tim Radio City DVD, the other musical beginnings and careers he helped document (John Mayer, P Diddy, My Morning Jacket, Trey Anastasio and more) and what's next for him. Big thanks to Sam for joining us - enjoy!
Bruce and Nolan were back in action together in Raleigh for their final DMB show of the summer - and oh my goodness the band delivered in a big way! This show had it all, including rarities, some of our all-time favorite songs and an epic encore, so you know we had to record this episode as soon as we got home. Enjoy!
The band has been busy, and the Grey Street Pod boys are back to break it all down. From the hallowed grounds of Saratoga, to the lakes of New Hampshire, and of course Camden, DMB played a jampacked 6 shows in a 9 day stretch. And if that wasn't enough Dave and Tim graced the stage at the serene CMAC for a special treat as well. We give our reactions and have some listener reviews tossed in as well, so sit back and enjoy. Cheers!
Get ready to turn this episode up to 11, becuase we have...you guessed it...ELEVEN shows to discuss this week. The 2022 DMB Summer Tour is now past its halfway point, and not only do we have show reviews for you, but we have plenty of stats as well. From one night stands, to festivals, to multi-night runs at iconic venues, Bruce and Nolan break down the latest and the greatest from the summer so far...

Nolan and Bruce hit the road last weekend for another DMB road trip - this time to Charlotte and Atlanta! The boys break it all down from tailgating in the lots, to seeing The Dreaming Tree again (FINALLY) and some epic performances of DMB classics. Cheers!
DMB is back and so are we! Bruce and Nolan breakdown DMB's first three shows of the 2022 Summer Tour in Austin, Houston and Dallas, Texas. DMB meets Metallica. This week we caught up with Clint Wells, a Nashville-based touring and session guitarist/songwriter, the co-host of the incredibly successful Metallica podcast - "Metal Up Your Podcast" - oh and a huge DMB fan. Clint, who is currently on tour with Morgan Wade, talks about his love of Metallica, playing at the recent Pilgrimage Festival, and lets his inner DMB-nerd shine through with us. We had an absolute blast with Clint and hope you do too! Enjoy and ROCK ON!

We've got a monumental 50th Episode for you! Carter and Fonz make their triumphant return to the stage in Irvine and keep the good times rolling through SPAC with the best shows of the tour. Bruce and Nolan take you on a journey through the highlights of it all and share some insane song statistics along the way. Enjoy!
15 years ago DMB returned home to Charlottesville to close out their 2006 Summer Tour and perform at the grand opening of UVA's John Paul Jones Arena. Bruce & Nolan were there and get nostalgic in this deep dive of the two-night stand, which had everything from all-time performances of songs (Two Step, Shotgun & more), rarities, drama and guest spots!
Well that was a unique first trip to The Gorge! A bucket list journey for Bruce & Nolan started with uncertainty and ended with three unexpected Dave & Friends shows. The dudes break everything down on-site from the campgrounds, from the initial shock of Carter and Fonz being out with COVID, to reactions from the alternate format concerts each night. While it wasn't The Gorge trip we planned on, it was still incredible and we are truly grateful Dave and the guys gave it their all to make it happen!
GORGE week is upon us! The Corner of Grey Street wanted to make sure everyone could get caught up on the Summer Tour so far and hear the highlights as you make your journey to The Mecca. Next Saturday Ruston Kelly and his band will be opening for DMB at The Gorge. But before that, he was kind enough to join us on The Corner of Grey Street to chat about his musical journey so far, and nerd out about all things Dave. We cover Ruston’s latest album, upcoming fall tour, his DMB fandom and the anticipation of returning to the stage by opening for his favorite band, plus much more. We hope you enjoy this as much as we did and be sure to check out Ruston if you’re going to The Gorge!

We were fortunate enough to be able to have an in-depth conversation with one of our musical heroes, one of the best musicians of our lifetime, and an absolute legend within the Dave Matthews Band universe: Béla Fleck. Béla was extremely generous with his time and dove into many different topics including how he started as a musician, the beginning of the Flecktones, the first time they guested with DMB, and of course, THE 32 minute #41! We hope that you all enjoy this interview and we want to thank Béla yet again for joining us!

We are pleased to bring you a special conversation that we had this week with the family of Jim Landsman. Jim is a DMB fan and is currently having a difficult battle with COVID-19. His family joined us to share his story and they opened up about how the DMB community has embraced them to the extent of receiving a personal message from Dave Matthews himself. This is an incredibly emotional and educational discussion and we highly encourage everyone to listen to it. Thank you to the Landsman family for their strength, courage, positivity, and for sharing their story with the DMB family!

You can tell the band was full of energy and spontaneity the entire "Creekend" as they crushed the classics, busted out several rarities, and even debuted a brand new song. We put you right there in the audience for one of the best 2 night runs of the past 15 years. Enjoy, and we will see you at our next stop on tour!

The 2020 DMB Summer Tour would have begun on Tuesday, June 16th with 2 nights at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. Since the band can’t bring any music to Mohegan, we are bringing the band's music from Mohegan to you! The Corner of Grey Street Pseudo-Summer Tour starts now with a look back to the only other shows DMB has played at Mohegan: 12/8/2012 and 12/2/2018. Not only do we bring you a ton of music, but we also celebrate our 1 year anniversary and the 2nd birthday of Come Tomorrow with our rankings of each song. There's a lot to listen to, so open up your ears and enjoy!

We had so much fun chatting with the guys over at DMB Almanac, that we let them choose any show from DMB's history and help us break it down. This trip down memory lane takes us all the way back to June 22, 1997 at Riverbend in Cincinnati, OH. Join us as we take a deep dive into some incredible music from an oftentimes overlooked tour. Trust us, you are not going to want to miss this one!

Whether you know it or not, there is one website that has benefited every single DMB fan in one way or another over the years. That website is DMBAlmanac.com. It is the go-to site for setlist, stats, lyrics and much more, and they hopped on with us for an engaging exclusive interview. We cannot thank them enough for their time, and for all that they have done for the DMB community!

A lot has happened since our last episode. The 2020 Summer Tour was postponed, the 2021 Summer Tour was announced, we now have a weekly date with the DMB Drive In, and of course, a Twitter feud. We cover it all, and throw in a couple of musical gems that we think you'll appreciate as well. Cheers and stay safe everyone!
Special Thanks to Steve Lillywhite
March Madness may have been canceled, but that didn't stop CBSSports College Basketball writer and analyst Matt Norlander from creating the ultimate DMBracket. Bruce and Nolan go through each region and break down the matchups with Matt while also deciding who is their ultimate DMBracket champion. Join us for some incredibly fun discussion that includes matchup analysis, some heated debate, and of course upsets.
Thanks again to Matt for his hard work and for taking the time to chat with us!
You can find the bracket at the bottom of his "Every Dave Matthews Band Song, Ranked" article.

What's the best way to keep yourself busy during quarantine? Ranking every single Dave Matthews Band song of course! CBSSports writer, DMB fan and friend of the podcast, Matt Norlander, did just that and he joined us to explain (and defend) his selections. This was an incredibly well-thought out and detailed list, and we think you'll enjoy the conversation that came from it. Thanks again to Matt for the hard work and for taking the time to chat with us!

In this new world of quarantining and social distancing, Dave still found a way to bring us all together again. Mr. Matthews found his way onto our screens several times this week, including an 8 song solo acoustic performance from his home which featured some classics, some curveballs, and even a new song! We couldn't wait to discuss what went down and hope you all enjoy Episode 23. Stay smart and stay safe everyone.
Need a distraction from the craziness going on in the world right now? We’ve got you covered on Episode 22 with the sweet sounds of the Dave Matthews Band from their hot start to 2020. Cheers, stay safe and remember to practice social distancing!
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds hit the beach in Riviera Maya, Mexico last weekend and they delivered in a big way. In this week's episode we recap the three night stand featuring Dave & Tim classics, rarities and guests who gave the crowd some epic memories. Enjoy!
The wait is over...2020 Summer Tour dates have arrived! Nolan and Bruce react to the schedule, discuss which shows they plan to attend, and provide some insight as to why some staple venues are being skipped this time around. They also discuss a certain omission from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020 that left many with so much to say. Thanks to everyone who have joined us on this journey to Episode 20! Cheers!
We. Are. Back! After a few months off and several incredible life events, we have returned to the airwaves and have a lot to talk about. 2020 is here, and that means it's time to look back on the last decade in DMB History. From new albums, to new members, the last 10 years had just about everything. Make sure you stick around for the end of the episode, as we dive into some of the tour and studio rumors that have been floating around. It's good to be back and we hope you all are ready for an epic 2020!
As we quickly approach 2020, a Presidential election year, we wanted to revisit the 2004 Vote for Change Tour, which turns 15 years old this week. The Dave Matthews Band teamed up with several other musicians for this short, 7 city tour that aimed to unite people and motivate them to get out and vote. Politics aside, sometimes it's just best to relax, listen to some great music, and tune out all of the noise that attempts to swallow us on a daily basis, and this episode has plenty of fantastically unique moments to help you do just that. Cheers everyone!

This week we had the pleasure of talking with longtime DMB fan Matt Norlander, who you may know from his work with CBS Sports and his Records & Riffs podcast. We had a blast going in-depth on the band, creating a college hoops/DMB mash-up, firing off hot takes, and more. Norlander's knowledge of the band is unmatched, so be sure to give it a listen!

He has been to nearly every DMB show in Charlotte since 1998 and talks about his experiences and the highlights from these shows. We also add in a few musical interludes to help set the scene as well. Enjoy and make sure to listen to our full episode breaking down the show we saw shortly after this "tailgate talk"!
