Rubber Stamped Mixes: Recent Episodes

Rubber

Rubber’s sets are all about versatility, he is equally at home dropping an Afro Tech club set, Beach / Sunset House vibes, Disco, Funk, Soulful House, Progressive / Trance or some fat Breakbeats plus he loves Drum and Bass. No matter what genre he is playing you will not find anything minimal, it is all about the melody and soul, hence his Slammin, Melodic, Electronic Music tagline. Nobody is going to get short changed either on set length on his watch. Rubber is renowned for journey sets with an average set being 3-4 and upto a record 9 hours long.

Currently in Dubai, previously London Matt Rubin aka Rubber has always loved his tunes. In London he ran his own JamBasha parties and rooms in association with House Music Heavyweights Kinky Malinki. In Dubai Matt had a residency at Fratelli and played regularly with Radio 1s / Hollaphonic’s Greg Stainer. Now with 3 kids and various sporting engagements live sets are limited. My gift back to everyone that loves their tunes is a regular podcast that spans the genres of decent electronic music.

DJ's, Groups and Tours Supported: Nick Warren, Bobby & Steve, Sebastian Ingrosso, K-Klass, Hoxton Whores, George Morel, CJ Mackintosh, Greg Stainer, Ian Carey, Choci, Drumattic Twins, Blank and Jones, Mische Daniels, Gordon Edge, Shades of Rhythm, Abigail Bailey, Raymundo Rogriguez, Graham Sahara, James Jackson, Mark Robinson, Grant Richards, Andy Ward, Dale Hooks, DJ Blush, Mark Dynamix, The Persuaders, Jamie Lee Wilson, DJ Flex, Afroboogie, Tom Craft, Stoneface & Terminal, Tocadisco and more...

I only buy AIFFS and I have started keeping my WAV recordings (96,000hz 32-bit) of my mixes which i then rip to flac for playing in HD at home. These are 2-4GB a pop but if anyone wants to listen in HD then contact me on matt_rubin@yahoo.com.

Enjoy the music! Big Love Rubber

90 minutes of Afro Progressive Tech, this mix takes you on a journey through tribal beats, vocals and percussion to more progressive sounds with a similar vibe. Perfect for so many settings, turn it up and let these vibes take you away to another level whatever you are doing.....

Afro house

African music mixed with a house beat. Afro house is a subgenre of house music, with its roots predominantly in South Africa. A fusion of kwaito, tribal, deep and soulful house music, in South Africa, it is classed as deep house or soulful house, although it has its own unique sound and is reflected in the musical style – particularly in the "stripped back" original percussion sounds and rhythms of South African culture.

Rubber is back 6 months late (sorry about that) with 100 minutes of smooth, grooving soulful house. Tracks from Booker T, Walter G, Shaun Escoffery, Blaze, Sea and Soul, Micky Moore, Soultrend Orchestra, Stacy Kidd, Soul II Soul and of course the incredible Mark Di Men.

Ideal for so many situations, this soulful beauty would be especially ideal for some sundowners or on the beach.
Soulful house

Soulful house is a genre characterised by smooth and soulful vocals, relaxed atmosphere and melodic structure, as well as by influences from soul, jazz and funk. Tracks are distinguished by slower tempos (122 to 127 bpm), keyboards that give a deep sound, similar to the one from chill-out and lounge. House rhythms are often accompanied by instruments such as piano, guitar, bass guitar, double bass. Therefore, producers often collaborate with vocalists and live musicians. The tracks often feature solos by typical jazz wind instruments, such as saxophone or trumpet. Soulful house is a dance music genre due to its house beat and rhythm, but can also be heard as background music in restaurants and shops as well as on high fashion shows due to its relaxed, easy-going rhythm and refined sounds. Sometimes the genre perceived as a dance version of genres such as nu jazz and lounge.

90 mins of uplifting trance, main room set!

After my 2 part Drum and Bass and Afro Tech mixes in recent weeks followed up with the Disco mashup at the weekend, it made sense to follow these up with some Progressive goodness.

I spent 5 hours record shopping last night and ended up with 51 tunes. After careful consideration i decided to split them into 3 sets with 17 tunes each. A Sundown, Warm Up and Main Room set over 3 parts.

I will release these as 3 sets over the coming days. Here is part 3 which journies from 130-140 bpm with tunes from Jan Johnstone, Gareth Emery, Paul Van Dyke, Tiesto, JES, Nitrous Oxide, Will Atkinson, Ben Gold and Jorn van Deynhoven to name a few.

2hrs 15mins of Disco and Funk some old and remastered and some new. Party music!

I am back for my 5th mix in the last 12 days. 25 of my favourite Disco tunes with a little bit of funk aprinkled in to keep your weekend isolation party rocking!

With tunes and remixes from Ray Mang, Joey Negro, Sister Sledge, Purple Disco Machine, Seamus Haji, Alison Limerick, The O'Jays, Dimitri from Paris, Carolyn Harding, Chic, Disco Incorporated, etc. we go on a disco journey from 112 to 124bpm. Should be a nice little voyage through old and new.....

I have called this mix Strength. Pinched from the second to last tune with vocals strength to carry on. There it's probably relationship related but in today's world please help people if you can and if you need help, get organised, keep fighting and stay strong, this will end.

Turn it up, put your disco lights on and enjoy the mix!

Haunting melodies, driving percussion, quality house music that i would love to hear at a festival (Glade at Glasto) or in a proper underground club.

4 mixes in a week! Not done that for years..... This is part II of my Afro, Tribal, Proggy, Techy mix called Zoulou. I selected 42 tunes that have been released since my Global Underground 2 mix series last summer. These could have been programmed into one Afro/Tribal mix and a Progressive/Melodic Techno mix. I decided to mix it up with a 20+22 song journey through various styles over the 2 parts.

I proudly announce Zoulou Part 2 which is over 2 hours of house music from artists like Nicolas Rada, Daniel Rateuke, Analog Jungs, Boris Brecha, Alex Niggemann, Dave Seaman, Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Elfenburg and OC & verde to name a few.

I hope you really enjoy the beats especially some of the percussion. Turn it UP!

Haunting melodies, driving percussion, quality house music that i would love to hear at a festival (Glade at Glasto) or in a proper underground club.

I have to wait for a couple of new releases in the next 2 days before i can record Part 2 of Isolation my Drum and Bass mix. I couldnt wait to use the Pioneer Tour CDJs so in the meantime i spent hours record shopping for my favourite Afro, Tribal, Proggy, Techy tunes that have been released since my Global Underground 2 mix series last summer.

I managed to find 42. These could have been programmed into one Afro/Tribal mix and a Progressive/Melodic Techno mix. It's been a hectic 8 months, literally no time to even think about music unfortunately. With sports now on hold due to the Mexican beer crisis it felt like a good time to get back on the decks. The laser in one of my turntables is struggling i had it looked at last August but its not fixable and I've not made the significant investment in new ones. I even bought 2 second hand ones online today but when they arrived they didnt work so i sent them back. I fudged through with 1.5 decks, it wasnt easy, needed some audacity treatment after..... made some of the blends a bit tight.

Anyway i am pleased to annouce Isolation Part 1. This is 25 of my favourite Drum and Bass tunes from the last 12 months. Part 2 will follow with another 25 tunes next week. We're talking Kanine, London Elektricity, Mokoto, Polaris, Grafix, Hugh Hardie, Logisitcs, Nu Tone, Keeno, Kove, Data 3, Calibre, High Contrast, etc. Enjoy this jazzy soulful, funky, melodic, drum and bass mashup. Turn it up and get those sub woofers moving!

Stay at home, self isolate. please take the warnings seriously, the worse is yet to come if we do not listen. My thoughts are with all of you and your families.

I am back with my 4th mix this month, it would have been week if my CDJ lens hadn't given up temporarily. 29 tunes, 140 minutes on a house music journey! This mix is mainly soul but has a sprinkling of disco as well as a deeper cameo with a 3 tune detour with a slight garage element courtesy of JamBasha's own Adam Nyquist. Adam is back producing quality music as always and with an aggressive production schedule I am excited to see where it leads, respect!

This mix takes me back to the House FM, Soul Heaven, Unknown FM, Bobby & Steve, Glasshouse, Casa Funk, Mover n Shakers, Key/Cross/Bagleys. Fyasco, Rowsley Lodge era in the early 2000s. I can just see Mundis' smiling face bouncing around any of these dancefloors or me, him and Han rinsing House FM at Rowsley, RIP my brother, cannot believe you are gone. Love to all the rest of the crew from that golden time, you know who you are X

The mix includes the following tracks/artists the man himself Adam Nyquist. Joey Negro, Mark Di Meo, Dimitri, Grant Nelson, David Morales, Ron Carroll, , DJ Spen, Michelle Weeks, Hardsoul, etc.

Following on from my Progressive Tech "Global Underground" 2 part compilation, this set provides 2 hours of Melodic House for your musical pleasure. It would actually work well as a warm up set for episodes 103 and 104. With a slightly more chilled, less tribal and more progressive melodic vibe, it would be great for some sun-downers, at the pool/beach or the start of a night. With a few classics and plenty of vocals, this takes you on an uplifting journey building a little towards the end.

This is a part 1 of a new compilation of 2 mixes I have made to celebrate the Progressive Tech House sound associated with the likes of Global Underground, Renaissance, The Soundgarden, Therapy Radio, Bedrock, Transistions, etc. With lots of percussion and tribal beats my prefered sweetspot here is on the deeper side of progressive with a techy edge that drifts into melodic techno and afro house at times. Tunes and remixes from Nick Warren, John Digweed, Dave Seaman, ARTBAT, Nicholas Rada, Nick Muir and Marc Romboy to name a few.

Get settled in, turn this up on a decent soundsystem and tune in to the music production. There are so many sounds you can pickup if you rasp it out to totally give it justice, enjoy the musical journey! Part 2 to follow shortly on episode 104.

I didnt get a chance to make any mixes in December after the Dubai rugby 7s and before i left for my Christmas holidays in South Africa. I only just managed to squeeze this one in before the craziness of 2018 kicks in. I spent 2 nights record shopping and refining my selection before recording it the following night.

Episode 99 is 33 tunes and 3 hours of deep, progressive uplifting goodness. Starting at 120 bm and building to 135+ at the end this will take you on a deep progressive journey. You could split this set at half way and make a warm up and main set. I decided againt doing this because Episode 100 like Episode 50 before it is going to need to be a special onw.

Turn it on, turn it up and share with your friends.

After finishing off the house mix with mainly jackin and soulful tunes yesterday I decided to make another mix before our trip to see Norman Jay at Electric Elephant festival in Croatia tomorrow. I couldn't not do a Drum and Bass mix and I spent the early hours of the morning filtering loads of tunes and while I didn't have as long as I would have liked to do my research I was really happy when it came to recording the mix with the output. This is just over 2 hours of my favourite Drum and Bass, jazzy, rolling, funky, uplifting, progressive beats with fat baselines and vocals. Record labels include Hospital, RAM, 3beat, UKF, Hybrid and Sun and Bass recordings to name a few. Tunes from London Electricity, Hybrid Minds, Sigma, Calibre, Hugh Hardie, Nu:Logic, etc.

I will be back later this month with more music. In the meantime get your system on, connect the biggest sub woofer you can find and turn this badboy up!

Waiting for my mixes is turning out to be like waiting for bus.......... My 3rd mix in a fortnight is what I am calling Chilled House. The 40 tunes I have handpicked take you on a 3.5hr journey through a few genres of down and then more medium tempo house music. Genres include progressive deep house, commercial house and what I call deep house which is not this stuff from last few years thats been branded deep house when its actually commercial but genuinely deeper house. There are some old skool, garagey and handbag house riffs throughout this mix. With music amongest others from KANT, Robert Babicz, Tom Middleton, Vincenzo, Way Out West, Jody Wisternoff, Jamie Antonelli, Sandy Rivera, Ad Brown, Ian Pooley, Nora En Pure, Sebastien Leger, Larse, Yotto and EDX it#s a bit like a box of chocolates.

This set would be ideal to listen to by the pool, at a houseparty, while you are working or most definitely with a few sundowners. It would work as a decent warm up set with the last couple of tunes ready to link into a main room pumping progressive house set. I am thinking of recording my next mix as such so i can then link the two together to make a long player. Watch this space!

Turn it on, turn it up and enjoy the journey!

I started with a blank canvass 3 days ago and after trawling some records shops and finding lot of differnet tunes of many genres, I decided to go on a disco vibe. I narrowed down my crate to the following 25 tunes and spent some time on Friday morning moulding them together into a cheeky mix that is ideal for summertime.

The mix is 130 minutes long starting at 114bpm and finishing at 124 bpm. There are some classic disco originals remixed by Joey Negro. Original artists include Cheryl Lynn, Grace Jones, Robert Palmer, Thelma Houston, Beverley Brown etc. While the theme is disco I am still able to mix it up with genres ranging from disco, nu disco, soul, funk, indie dance and house variations of.

As usual turn it up and enjoy. Let me know if you like it!

It has been 2 years since my last Drum and Bass mix, can't believe that! I needed some big basslines and rolling beats so over the last 3 weeks I managed to narrow down 100 tunes that I liked and then finally bought 70. These got further whittled down to 60 after iistening to the whole tune in AIFF version once purchased. Then I had to programme the mix which was really hard because getting any sort of flow with that many tunes is difficult. I spent hours playing around with the flow until I was happy. I actually made a few last minute changes live in the mix but I am convinved that the journey works.

This 4 hour mix is what I would play at a festival with time to build a set and rock a crowd all afternoon. I try to take you up and down a bit early on starting with lots of vocals, progressive D&B and some rollers then it picks up later on. The mix is pretty varied and icnludes liquid, rolling, soulful, jazzy, funky, progreesive drum and bass and some lighter jungle. It features artists inclduing Roni Size, Logistics, Calibre, LTJ Bukem, London Elektricity, Sub Focus, Sigma, Hugh Hardie, Fred V and Grafix amongst many others.

Turn those sub woofers on, turn the volume up and enjoy!

WARNING! This mix is a different from usual and probably not one for the purists. I was very much in 2 minds about making it but I have had a few requests for some main stream house dating back a while and the other weekend some mates were asking what sort of set I would play as a main set at a big outdoor beach party with a more commercial crowd. Figured it was a good test of versatility and this is the end result......

There's a couple of link tunes to pickup from a pretend warm up act and these are what is today called deeper house but they are not very deep in my book. Then the mix kicks straight on into upfront house music with lots of well known riffs, vocals, piano melodies, etc. This is pumping commercial house music with at times a garagey twist along the same vibe, proper drunk feel good main room dancing tunes. Takes me back to the mid 90s with all the legendary bucks boys we were 16 and going to commercial house clubs like Visage in Hemel, Kudos in Watford, etc. they all were playing this 125bpm house sound. I end with a 2003 progressive uplifter just for good measure. I have to say it difficult to play commercial house these days and not cross over to EDM (errrrh!) but I think I just managed it, all about the garagey basslines.

Turn it on, turn it up and see!

This is 5hr long player combines my last 2 mixes starting with a mixture of melodic deep house and nu disco. The set gradually builds moving to some quality progressive house, then again at the end the tempo picks up as I move it into some pure uplifting goodness! Ideal for a house party where you want a soundtrack that progresses.

Wherever and whenever you listen, make sure you turn it up!

After the success of my last podcast a few days ago i was inspired to push on and make another one. I started record shopping with an open mind and found myself drawn to some nu disco but also some deep house that was more on the melodic / funky side than what i would originaly have called deep house (more minimal) 5-10 years ago. I bought 25 tunes and this mix starting at 114bpm and finishing at 124bpm (fairly downtempo) aims to fuse the 2 genres smoothly together all the way through the mix rather than taking the easy option of disco first then deep house..... These tunes are ideal at a bar when you first arrive to get the feet tapping and head nod and by the end you'll be dancing. They would also work really well on holiday with a few sundowners or in the park on a summers days.

The mix features tunes from artists including Nora En Pure, Sharam Jay, Booka Shade, Tube & Berger, Timmy Vegas, Jamie Antonelli, Maceo Plex, Sasha and Dubai's very own Raxon.

For now that's enough talk, it's time to get dowloading, enjoy the disco deep house blend and of course make sure you turn this one UP, the music always sounds better when your speakers are singing clear and loud!

With my beloved Sands and Sam away in SA as its fairly hot here in Dubai, I am in that quieter time of year again and finally I was able to spend a few days record shopping. After a couple of house mixes and a big beat bouncer earlier this year, I fancied making something more progressive and uplifting and the end product is 3 hrs long, using 33 mostly new tunes. I did however manage to sprinkle in 3 or 4 oldies for good measure including the last tune "I am" by Chakra albeit a new A&B remix. This is a classic for me as I first purchased the original on vinyl way back in 1997 this was when we used to go to Peach at Camden Palace or Gallery at Turnmills back when trance was trance! The mix starts slow almost classical then into some deeper progressive stuff but builds quickly to full on progressive house where it stays for a good while before I pick up the tempo towards the end moving into some big room stuff and some full on trance at the end. Turn it on, turn it UP, sit back and let the goosebumps flow!

As we roll into April, it just felt like time for fat, rolling, funky breakbeat goodness..........

I have always been into my breaks from the minute as a teenager that I first heard those big juicy beats, kick drums and rolling basslines, I was hooked. My first taste came during my early trips to Brighton when me and the Bucks Boys used to party at the beach club where a certain Fat Boy Slim ran his "Big Beat Boutique" promotion. That early big beat was just perfection to me and I followed the genre ever since and Plump DJs and Stanton Warriors debut albums both released at a similar time (A Plump Night out and The Stanton Sessions) became legendary CDs that I owned and rinsed time and time again. Later in the mid 2000s at our JamBasha parties we always had a breaks and D&B room where we hosted headliners such as Drumattic Twins from Fingerlickin Records. Breaks have stayed with me ever since and it's interesting to see how the genre has developed after slowing down for a while.

I have picked 30 tunes which technically span genres including glitch hop (new to me!), tech funk, dubstep and breaks. If you were to categorise the breaksbeats on this mix , they would be split into tech breaks, some garagey sounding breaks i guess evolved from the newer garagey deep house sound that has been prevalent recently, some progressive breaks (I love my melodic uplifting sounds) and some old skool house piano jams with the classic breakbeat #piratejams.

The way I have blended the mix is so that I take you on a journey through the different breakbeat sounds, evolving as you get through the mix from 100bpm glitch hop to 138bpm full on pumping breaks. Go with it, you need to listen to the full journey to understand it.

It is a pleasure to say that I have included 5 tunes from JamBasha's own Chevy One who has worked so hard for so long and as usual hard work has paid off. Chevy has moved his way up the scene and as is now a leading producer of tech funk originally working out of the Lot49 stable with Dylan Ryhmes and Meat Katie he is now producing and remixing tunes with lots of other famous producers as well. Check Chevy out!

Now download the mix but remember this is not background music, turn it on preferably in a quality sound system with a beefer subwoofer, turn it UP, turn it up again, relax and enjoy the big beat journey!

It's been a few months but inspired by my good mate Chantz, Rubber is back with a bang. I've put together 2 hours of quality house music for your listening pleasure. I found and purchased 30 tunes which i then narrowed down to 22 after a full HD listening to make a punchy 2 hour mix. It starts off very global undergroundish and a bit tribal then moves into various genres of house mainly 120-125 farily deep and progressive with a sprinkling of techno rising to a peak with a real funky jacking tune to finish the set. Tracklisting to follow, get involved, turn it up and please share with your friends. Rubber X

November leading into December for me is one of the best times of year, the football season is in full swing and so is the rugby 7s series in the UAE. I can't believe it has come round so quickly again. I am hitting Thailand for a chilled few days before SA for Christmas so I needed a holiday mix. I just put together a 3 hour warm up style set of 35 new tunes that I picked up last week on Cyber Monday thanks beatport for the 45% discount code! This is a house music mix that builds nicely up over the some house genres including chilled, indie dance, deep, nu disco and tech. Should be a nice accompianment to a sunset with an ice cold one or to be honest I would love to hear this in a club when I first arrived to get the head nodding and feet tapping. In the meantime, get downloading, crack a beer and get turn this mix turned UP!

What with family and 1 yr old son, work, playng and running the Warriors rugby team and Dubai Football Club it's been a busy year! I managed to spend a couple of nights last week trawling through beatport and some online record shops for some new tunes and today I had a rare few hours spare to finally gave me time to record a new mix. I used 28 tunes to make a peak time set of progressive house tunes mainly at 126-129 bpm so its quite pumping. The mix is 2.5hrs long, sit back relax and turn it up! Big Ups Rubber X

This is a 5hr 42min set recorded live from the basement club of Casa Sao Paolo in Estoril Portugal.

Mikey Mattacola kicks off the set on his own wedding day with an eclectic mix of funk and soul before changing it up a bit and going more housey and tribal.

Mikey has a break at 2hrs 19mins as it is left to Rubber to step up with some house classics supported on the dex by a fairly smashed Mikey who was having great fun creating some effex with a few extra effex sprinkled on top for good luck .

Rubber plays for an hour until 3hrs 23 before handing over to best man Ivan who gets involved with some funky house a cheeky 30 minute set up to 3hrs 53 mins before handing back over to Rubber who plays for another hour and 45mins going from house to drum and bass, progressive and then some soul and funk right to a 5am close!

Very messy night but the party went wild, this should bring back some memories people, turn it up!

An impromtu 4hr late hrs cafe patron fuelled mix recorded live back 2 back with up and coming 19 yr old DJ, Cammy Dearie. Cam originally from Glasgow ended up going to school in Dubai before heading to Leeds for his university years. Cam can now be found playing at clubs across Yorkshire and as a real talent is certainly one to watch for the future!

This mix is made using my music and is a mixture of house tunes spanning the genres; deep, main room, progressive and and tech. We spin 1 or 2 tunes each at a time and just tried to keep the vibe rolling. The tunes are anything from 12 months to 10 years old so expect some classcis!

You can checkout more of Cam's sets here: www.soundcloud.com/cammiedearie

Apologies its been a while, I've been kinda busy as Dubai FC won the DAFL premiership and my son Sam is now 8 months old but what better way to return than with a soulful, jazzy, funky, rolling drum and bass BANGER......

From labels like Goodlooking, Hospital, Beta, Integral, Innerground, etc this mix rolls for 1hr 40 mins and has 21 of my favourite drum and bass tunes from recent times.

I will hopefully be making another mix really soon so if you have any requests on genres, drop me an email on matt_rubin@yahoo.com with any requests/suggestions.

Until then, get your subwoofers plugged in, get the mix TURNED UP and let those jazzy beats roll!

Ramadam Kareem Everyone!

What a crazy and amazing few months it has been since my summer Ibiza trip. My son was born in October and I've been hanging out with the little guy so I have not had time for much music. However I've had a few days spare before I travel to join him in South Africa for Christmas and i have managed to knock together a 3 hr 15min eclectic house mix for your music pleasure.

I handpicked 39 of my favourite tunes from the last 5 months that span a variety of sub genres of house music including deep, soulful, indie dance, garagy, nu disco, french, electronica, old skool and progressive. They are interlaced in a way that should take you on a musical journey. Personally this is what i would like to listen to at Salinas in Ibiza towards the end of a day on the beach. For those in Dubai, SA or anyway sunny this is an ideal mix to play while outdoors with a few cold ones and imagine you are Salinas, if you in colder climes, wrap up warm and pretend it is warm and you are on the beach!

Either way, turn it the fook up and have a happy Christmas everyone! RIP Madeba

Recorded live from Claude Von Stroke's San Francisco record label's party named Dirtybird on Thursday 25th July 2013 in the rapidly becoming legendary club Sankeys located on the White Isle - Ibiza. When i was at uni Sankeys was just taking over from the fading Hacienda as Manchesters main club. In recent years Warehouse Project has assumed that mantle while Sankeys closed and put all its resources and efforts into its Ibizan venture.

Nestled in the heart of Playa Den Bossa close to Space and Ushuaia, Sankeys has been going from strength to strength since it opened it's door these last 3 yrs. Sankey's has already built a reputation for packed out crowds and an electric atmosphere with reviews saying that the atmosphere inside feels like a closing party carnival every night. It sure felt like it was a closing party crowd when i played there last week!

My set was pitched as a perfect foil to the dirtybird residents Justin Martin, Catz n Dogz, Claude Von Stroke, etc. in the main room. Dirtybird is a tech funk record label and their residents have generally been playing very deep and often minimal loud clubby sounds this summer in the massive main room. To balance the club out, I wanted to play something lighter and different so my set is mainly deep house (but funkier not minimal) and garage with a sprinkling of tech house, jackin house and nu disco and to spice it up a little, with some breakbeats and D&B to end.

Turn up the volume, let the mix flow, get dancing or just pretend you are in Sankeys listening live and most of all enjoy!

Lost in Ibiza is the only underground boat party in Ibiza. After a calamitous first season, Sankeys Ibiza was the surprise success story of 2012, with Steve Lawler and Solomun helping turn it into the most intelligent underground den on the White Isle.

This year the Lost in Ibiza crew have teamed up with the legendary Claude VonStroke and his San Francisco Tech Funk "record label called "Dirtybird". The promotion is also called Dirtybird and it is held in Sankeys on Thursdays. Lost in Ibiza will host the Boutique room for their afterparty apres the boat and I have the privilege to be spinning some tunes for them in Sankeys at Dirtybird. Headlining is Justin Martin and Catz n Dogz.

I wanted to do a pre Ibiza mix with a little sampler of some tunes that i think will be big in Ibiza this summer. Its nearly a 4 hour mix and is mainly deep house with a sprinkle of nu disco, tech house and the like. I hope it gets you in the mood for your summer holidays wherever that maybe and for me it has 100% got me in the mood for the White Isle....

Turn it up, let it build and enjoy!

Fancy some sunshine sounds? this mix is pure soulful house goodness and is ideal for a summers day in the park, sitting by the pool or having a sundown cocktail. Strangely enough this is my first soulful house mix and this vibe takes me back to early 2000s and the era that was Rowsley Lodge, House FM, Unknown FM, Camden Palace, Bobby and Steve Soul Heaven, movers and shakers in bond street, the buffalo bar in highbury corner and everything else soulful house related. Mr Mole, Mundis, Han, Jenwah, Stace, Dee, Rob, Sam, Tracy Luv, Matt Nash, Piglet, Olner and the man himself Mikey Matt you all knows it!

The music on this podcast is what i call proper house music and while it reminds me of that era because every club or bar you went to was playing soulful tunes, these tunes i have used are fresh. The inspiration and many of the tunes on this mix comes from my man Choci. One of the pioneers of electronic music in London in the late 80s and early 90s for years Choci sold vinyls from his west end Choci's Chewns record shop to all the biggest DJs in the land Oakenfold, Tong, Rampling, Norman Jay, Bukem, Goldie and the like. He also DJ'd all over London and the world and had various residencies including Escape from Samara at the Fridge in Brixton. If you look on any flyer from the day Choci was there headlining and those guys previously mentioned were often supporting him. Choci is a musical legend inspired by the music not commercials, check out some of Choci's art and you can catch the man himself dj'ing on tuesdays live on Kane FM for Team Robbo.

It took me a few tunes to settle into this mix as some of the early stuff is recorded live so has varying BPMs, there are 4 or 5 exclusive Choci edits/remixes on this mix. I will bang a track list up when i have time. Enjoy the tunes, just let the mix roll it builds and builds, sit back enjoy the sunshine, hopefully your sundowner and turn it up!

The full recording of my 8hr set from the British Polo in Dubai. All in one MP3 file for your listening pleasure.....

Check the size of the sound system (see attached photo) it was 12K of sound enough to rock a small festival stage. It was pumping!

Part II of my mix from the British Polo on a huge outdoor 12k soundsystem.

The next 3 hrs of the mix, leaves behind the nu disco and deeper house and moves into a more garagy vibe. Then in tune with the crowd, I finish with a selection of mainroom house bangers ranging from proper DJ Dan style uptempo classic house music to some more commercial indie dance remixes including tunes like Say My Name - Florence and the Machine, Love Sensation - Loleatta Holloway, Bur Woo Hoo and Sunglasses at Night - Lissat and Voltaxx.

The aim was to raise the roof off, well there was no roof, just stars but i smashed it anyway! Big Shout out to Barney who matched me on the Jim Beams all the way......

Part one takes you on a FIVE hour journey from 115 to 125bpm through deep house, indie dance and nu disco. The set was recorded live at the British Polo in Arabian Ranches Dubai. For the first hour or so the tunes supplied the backdrop for an after event drink but soon there was head nodding and people were slowly moving their feet, busting some slower shapes. After a couple of hours the whole place started grooving and thats when it went off. Musically the mix has a great flow and it seemed to work well for a more mixed crowd can typically be more commercial. I think this is why I only had one conversation all nightalong the lines of "can I make a suggestion? can you please play some Rihanna". The mix might be my best yet, from 2.5hrs in once they were dancing it felt like tune after tune after tune and the response from the crowd was electric.

It will take a while to listen to but that's ok, turn it on, turn it UP, take your time and enjoy! a 5hr set is great for a car journey, great for a houseparty, great for background tunes at work, great for your garden at a bbq, nice for a long run. Just turn it UP!

Get a few thousand people in a sunny field drinking champagne and pimms all afternoon and it is going to be carnage. Add in Rubber his tunes, a 12k sound system at an outdoor afterparty in the Polo club courtyard and it's clearly going to go off! and this one did..... Massive shout to Barney Brotherhood for carrying my record bag and pouring the Jim Beams all night, we smashed that bottle! Maximum respect to Paul Dias and the sound engineers from Soundsol. Total calmness when some happy reveller spilt a full drink over one of my decks that then stuck playing backwards. Quick and efficient swap out, CDJ opened in minimal light, circuit boards dried, parts replaced and deck back slotted in with minimum fuss. Love working with professionals!

Part 2 of this mix to follow next month

I kicked off the Sunstroke Pool Party live on the terrace of the Radisson Blu Hotel Media City for my mate Andrei and his Sunstroke Collective. My set was 1hr 45 of deeper warmup vibes to get the party started. The event was headlined by CN Williams who Norman Jay reckons is the best resident DJ in the UK. CN was broadcasting the event live on his Reelhouse Records radio feed. I had a brilliant day out. Big ups to Chants, Stan, Irene, Andrew, Dan,Omar, etc. who all came down to support me plus special guests Jan and Kate from Singapore. CN destroyed the dancefloor technically amazing and some upfront house music with old skool acapellas. Roll on the next one!

Rubber is back to his roots with a 3hr house set. It's taken a while but i can safely say it will be worth it.... I've had tunes in my beatport crate for 8+ months for this set! A new job and running 4 football teams does not help...... I finally narrowed down 32 tunes for my new mix. It is deep and full of proper house music 114-126bpm with some very funky basslines and old skool piano riffs, etc. Huge shout out to the Goa crew - Cheese, Sween, Donna, George, Alistair, Chico, Pete and Thom, your musical aura's have inspired me loads! Really hope to be out dj'inng on the Lost In Ibiza boat this summertime. Huge reunion!

Well this is longest gap i have had between mixes for 2 or 3 years. I was in London during Ramadan and summer holidays then since i have been back I have been busy playing and coordinating pre season training for my football team in Dubai the Assassins. Big thanks to those that asked where I had been if i was ok and why there was no music happening. It was the legend himself Mr Andy McDonald that inspired me to make this 100mins trance mix. Hope you enjoy!

The Lot49 record label is owned by Dylan Rhymes and Meat Katie was setup in June 2004. Lot49 quickly became one of the most talked about dance music labels with the sole purpose of releasing dancefloor 12"'s from the finest artists around. Lot49 pushes the tech-funk sound, a hybrid of electro, house, techno and breaks in varying forms. Lot49 has picked up support from Deep Dish, The Plump DJs, Adam Freeland, Sander Kleinenberg, Pete Tong, James Lavelle and John Digweed to name just a few. Today Lot49 has the following artists signed to its label Lee Combs, Ben Coda, Vandal, Dopamine, Beat Tempest, Metha and JamBasha's own Chevy One!

Underbeat Trust ran an awesome boat party on the Thames for the Lot49 label and my podcast Episode 58 was recorded live at the afterparty in Islington where I kicked off proceedings with an hour set. This was the same night Man United lost to Barcelona in the champions league final sorry Mr Mouse....

This set is my take on Tech Funk with a mix of Techno, Electro and some big bad Breakbeats.

Turn it up, Big Love. Rubber

To celebrate the 50th Rubber Stamped Podcast I decided to make a 5hr mix with 50 tunes 10 from each genre Chilled, Progressive, House, Breaks, Trance and Drum and Bass. Narrowing down from all of my music was pretty much impossible and this did not leave room for genres like Tech, Techno, Deep, etc. So i ended up picking 72 of my favourite tunes plus a few accapellas and ended up making a 7hr 25minute mix of Rubber Stamped Slammin Melodic Electronic Music. It starts chilled goes through the house genres into some breaks then trance and ends with some drum and bass. This is pretty much my soundtrack to the last few years of my life. Big Shout out to Way Out West who registered 6 tunes on my mix. The Hospital records stable provided 6 records as well with 4 tunes from High Contrast. Eric Prydz including Pryda and Cirez D chipped in with 3 tunes all on his Pryda Recordings label. Gareth Emery also delivered 3 tunes. The quality of the Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep labels showed through with 4 records. A few artists such as General MIDI, Daniel Kandi and Stanton Warriors provided 2 tunes with music from Ian Pooley, BT, Grant Nelson, Booka Shade, X-Press 2, Jazztronic, Conrad and Bukem, Talisman and Hudson and many more making up the rest of the set. Thx for all your support, big musical love Rubber

This is an hour and forty minutes of my set recorded live from the full moon party at the arabian adventures desert camp. We took over their desert camp which was nestled below some massive sand dunes 30minutes outside Dubai. The soundsystem was pumping and in total I played for about 6hrs. This is a farily commercial mix to suit the crowd but overall it was another booze fuelled night packed full of fun. We ended up sitting on top of a massive sand dune overlooking the camp at 4am with the system still pumping out one of my mixes below. Check out the Duck Sauce mix with La La Land was a highlight for me...

You will find tunes from amongst others Sebastian Leger, Guy Gerber, Nick Muir, John Digweed, Alex Kenji, King Unique and Tom Craft who I warmed up for last summer at Fratelli club. This is proper club music people so it needs to be turned up really loud on a nice system with lots of sub-bass otherwise it could sound a bit boring. For those in the UAE don't forget that I'm rocking Zinc on wednesday 13th October and its free bottles of vodka and champagne for the ladies. See you there. Feedbak on this and any of my mixes is very much appreciated. Nice one Rubber X

Happy September People. I don't know where the summer has gone as usual.... Big up Sandy, Stoffel, Hartty, Lisa, Chants, Mr Pig and all the desert camping crew from last weekend. One of the good things about living in Dubai is that we now have 9 months of beautiful weather to look forward to and getting 25 of us into the desert with booze and tunes is a big part of that. I've been useless on the production front, would be so much easier if I was able to spend some time with the JamBasha crew Adam Nyquist and Chevy One back in London. I think it might be worth trying to find a Logic course to get me going. I have been booked to play at Zinc on wednesday 13th October. I did a bit of main room house record shopping yesterday to try and find a couple of tunes and ended up making this mix. It is way more housey than my usual sets and not fully to my liking but see what you think Nice one Rubber X

Big Shout out to the Above and Beyond crew, loving your work guys. I have also used tunes from Ronski Speed, Stoneface and Terminal, DT8 Project, Sander van Doorn, Gareth Emery, Cosmic Gate and the legendary Kyau and Albert. You will see I have added a members area which hopefully is not too much of a hindrance. Your computer should save your password and username so it's not too much trouble. It's been a busy month as not only have I been learning all about flash, dreamweaver and making websites but I have been getting stuck into the Logic 9 tutorials and I have created my first piece the Rubber Stamped intro which starts off my mix. Now I need to get cracking with making some tunes. In the meantime enjoy the trance...... See u at the Big Chill for those going....... Feedback please!

This is my 3rd mix in 3 weeks! I think i have rediscovered my musical passion...... I just need to buy an Maudio keyboard and I can start my production mission. To follow my trance and breaks mixes I have done a 100minute deep, progressive, techy, house mashup. I am thoroughly loving Traktor Scratch Pro and not having to burn loads of new CD's each week. Big shout out to Grant Wilson and the crew from up the road. Also one of my parents closest friends Sheila is days from dying of cancer. Big Love to her, her husband Ron and their family. These things make you realise how lucky we all are and that the realities of life can be just around the corner at anytime. Enjoy things while you can and be nice to each other. Peace out Rubber. P.s. Webstats show my podcast downloads are going through the roof 1000plus each month but im only getting one or two emails with feedback on the tunes. To follow my recent trance, breakbeat and house mixes, I thought it was about time for another jazzy, soulful, rolling, funky drum and bass one. Judgement Day is more chilled than my previous Drum and Bass mixes Sick Music and Everything's Different as the main room bangers i bought to make these mixes are just not being written at the moment. It is however really flowing and rolling and I have treated you to over 2hrs worth so it is perfect for a car journey or the like. I am sure I will be cranking this on the way to the Big Chill in August to help get me in the mood for the legendary Drum and Bass we get spoiled with there every year. I have used tunes from MRSA, Shapeshifter, DRS, Calibre, Wilkinson, Cyantific, Mindflow, Sub Focus, Danny Byrd, Underworld, Sigma and quite a few from Netsky the newest star to hit the big time from the Hospital Records stable. Please let me know if u are listening and liking, i really appreciate it. Feel free to pass this link on to anyone else that may want to listen.

The inspiration for this mid month mix came from Jambasha's very own Spanish DJ and Producer Chevy One. Chevy has just completed a fat remix of a tune called Only you on Lot 49 records for Meat Katie and Dylan Rhymes feat. Iconical. The tune is front page in the beatport breakbeat charts..... If you are producing tunes then the front page of beatport is holy ground and where you want to be on a regular basis. Big respect to Chevy One for the tune I play it 2nd to last tune from the end. Please support Chevy and Jambasha and buy a copy from beatport it is only a dollar fifty or something. This mix was done using Traktor Scratch and it is literally the 2nd time I have switched it on. I am still learning and experimenting with various settings. There are a couple of glitches but if you don't try you don't learn. Enjoy the fat breaks. Rubber

Hello People, how are you doing? I hope you are all having a brilliant start to the summer whatever country you are in. I can't believe it is June already roll on Glasto and the Big Chill. To be honest I've been lacking inspiration for music over the last 6 weeks which is not normal for me. In order to combat this, I listened to the Above and Beyond podcast at full blast in my car then spent a few hours record shopping on Beatport solely for progressive, uplifting and trancier cuts of music. You will be pleased to know that I managed to get some wicked new tunes. I have just bought a Macbook and now have all the hardware and software necessary to start producing my own music. Big shout out to Chevy One and Adam Nyquist from the Jambasha crew and Greg Stainer from Radio 1 Dubai for helping me get setup. Time will tell whether I am any good at doing this or not so watch this space. After owning Serato scratch a few years ago I have also now purchased Traktor Scratch Pro in order to save me burning a million and one CD's every week. I bought it at the same time as the Macbook, I just could not resist. This mix is literally the first time I have plugged it in to use. Even though I am still using CDJ's the controls are slightly different and it will take me a while to get fully upto speed but I can safely say I am very happy with my first outing into the Traktor world. I hope you like the results..... Enjoy the happy uplifting summer tunes and remember if you are listening and liking then please give me a shout to let me know. There is nothing niceer than getting a shout from someone to say the are listening. It sure helps with inspiration for me to keep making this podcast which takes a full day every month. Big Summer Love to you all Rubberfunk X

This is a 4 and half hour set recorded live from the Ibiza White and Golf Rooftop Party. What an amazing vibe we created with around 200 people. Most seemed to be on the dancefloor and it was totally going off. I myself was very drunk by the end. So much so when 1 of my tunes ran out after i had been for a toilet stop I thought my neighbours Rob and Chrissy had put the 80s filler music on, on purpose...... I also managed to play about 3 tunes twice by accident. My MP3 player only records for 2 hours before restarting so this is 3 mp3s glued together. Apologies for any skips etc. What a great nite see you all at the next one.......... Rubber

Goodbye January and Hello February, it's going to be a busy month. Results of the DJ Mag Top 50 Middle East DJs competition came out today and I came an unbelievable 13th. Thanks so much to all of you that voted. It's also my birthday and Flava's leaving do on the 12th Feb and as per last months update I am dj'ing at the Dubai Polo on 19th and with Greg Stainer at Zinc on 24th Feb. Shout out to Ada, Kas and all the Jambasha crew. Ada's final words to me in London as I was heading back to Dubai after Christmas were when are you going to do another Drum and Bass mix. Well my birthday present from my parents, sister and grandma was a fat Rockford Fosgate subwoofer which was installed in my car yesterday and with Ada's words still ringing in my ears I thought it was about time to have another go at mixing some D and B. I bought a load of tunes online, the majority coming from my favourite two D and B stables RAM and Hospital records. Big Respect to the Sub Focus, High Contrast, Danny Byrd, Blame and Netsky. The tunes are as new as I could possible get but as I am mixing multi genre it's hard to stay fully focused on all. Nevertheless for most of you they should be fresh. For the hardcore D and B crew e.g. Mr Alistair Gates and Paul Harris, I hope they still work for you. I really hope you enjoy the tunes and as ever if you are listening then drop me an email with some feedback. It's matt at djrubber.co.uk Nice One Rubber X

I am playing a boat party see facebook invite and then I've also been booked to play at the Dubai Polo club's annual event as well as a return to Zinc on 24th Feb alongside the UAE's finest DJ Radio 1's Greg Stainer. The DJ Mag middle east poll closes tomorrow and we get the results on 1st Feb when the magazine is published. Fingers crossed with all of your votes I have made the top 50....... Anyway onto January's mix. If you remember Rubber Stamped January 2009 Let Freedom Ring then it's a similar style. I've gone for a fully progressive techy uplifting sound to help lift the January detox or New Year's resolution blues with a remix of the trance classic as the rush comes to finish. The mix has 14 tunes but they must have been long tunes because as I was recording I realised I would have to miss the last two tunes if I wanted to stop at 80minutes. I could not do this so the mix is now 92 minutes only a problem if you try and burn to 1 audio CD, if you are playing on an Ipod or PC no worries, otherwise burn as an MP3 CD. I really hope you enjoy the tunes and as ever if you are listening then drop me an email with some feedback. It's matt at djrubber.co.uk Nice One Rubber X

Hello Everyone I hope you are having a great month. I can't believe that it is nearly Christmas already, I just don't know where the year goes. I looked at the webstats today and I have had an unbelievable 8500 downloads since the site was launched back in May. My mix this month is a slightly different vibe to November. It is more of a warm up set with deeper, techy rolling sounds with a sprinkle of more progressive tunes at the end. Danny Howells was my inspiration for this mix. For those of you in London don't forget the Jambasha Building Schools for Burma Christmas Party on December 23rd at Fluid in Farringdon. I will be playing upstairs in the cocktail bar as well as downstairs in the club so come have a few drinks and enjoy the tunes. If you are listening to these mixes plese drop me an email with some feedback at matt at djrubber.co.uk it is great motivation to do more mixes if I know you are listening. Nice One Matt

Working out where to start with my November Rubber Stamped was somewhat difficult. From a personal perspective alongside playing with Nick Warren and recording Rubber Stamped August 2009 Sick Music (my Jazzy, Soulful Drum and Bass mix) my October Rubber Stamped was one of my favourites yet. Nevertheless I managed to get my arse onto beatport.com and bought 14 tunes brand new today. 12 were new to me but I had been aware of 2 of them for 4 or 5 months but until today they had not been released. Nick Warren played the original mix of Downpipe by D Ramirez and Mark Knight v Underworld at Fratelli Club back in June and Sebastian Ingrosso rocked Fratelli club on the opening night May 22nd with what was at the time his new tune How Soon is Now. This tune is a main room banger if ever I heard one. If you like you can check out the youtube video wall on my homepage where you can see the crowds reaction when he dropped this in the club. To say it was going off is an understatement. My November mix starts off a bit deeper and techy then builds up through the gears ending with some proper main room bangers. Hope you enjoy the tunes and as ever if you are listening then drop me an email with some feedback at matt at djrubber.co.uk Nice One Matt

How this October mix happened was a real surprise! One minute I was bored at home playing Tiger Woods Golf and the next I was on Beatport.com searching for some fresh tunes to add to a few I had already. Before I knew it, I was in the mix and Rubber Stamped October 2009 Ultraviolet was born. Ultraviolet is a mix of tech and progessive house with a chillout tune chucked in at the beginning, a progessive breakz tune in the middle and an uplifting main room banger at the end. It also includes some tracks from Way Out West's (the legends - Jody Wisternoff and Nick Warren) new album that has just been released this month. You will recognise a couple of tunes from Nick's set with me at Fratelli Club back in June where he treated us a sneak preview of his new music that is only now being released. Enjoy the music, drill it out as loud as possible and if you like it, dislike it or are indifferent please take 2 mins to email me and tell me matt@djrubber.co.uk. It makes the world of difference to know that you are downloading and listening

I had enough new tunes in my crate after making my breaks mix a couple of days ago so I decided to record a new house/progressive/club mix as well. Hope you enjoy it as much as Sandy and I enjoyed this weekend gone. We just had a blinding time on the piss at a boat party and at the water park with Mr 4 Dex and a Sax himself Mikey Mattacola. It's all about the Ravanelli or the Simon Cowell..... Big Up Scottinho all of our thoughts are with you fella

I have always loved my Breaks and in the early days Big Beat. I remember the trips to the beach club in Brighton for Fat Boy Slim's Big Beat Boutique. A Plump Night Out and The Stanton Session were two albums I bought and how the Plumps and Stantons moved onwards and upwards from there.... Other artists that have inspired me in this genre are Rogue Element, Krafty Cuts, A-Skillz, Vandal, General MIDI, Dan Magnan and the Drumattic Twins who rocked one of our best ever Jambasha parties. This won't be to everyone's taste but for those that like it fat and a bit tougher enjoy!

I have always loved my Drum and Bass and in the early days Jungle. Amongst others, people like Roni Size, LTJ Bukem, London Elektricity, Logistics, High Contrast, Aphrodite, John B and Kruder and Dorfmeister have influenced me musically. This is my first ever attempt at a drum and bass mix. I have used lots of hospital records soulful jazzy funky rolling drum and bass. I loved making it and I hope you like listening to it as well.

This mix includes many of the tunes I used in my warm up set at Club Fratelli for the visit of German Trance Legends Stoneface and Terminal and Ronski Speed. These both were classic nights at Fratelli Club with the crowd going off right from the start of the night. I will not forget either of these sets and have to say I loved my 2nd and 3rd trance sets just as much as my first with Blank and Jones

This is a 5 hour set recorded live from Club Fratelli. This was a dream come true for me to be playing alongside the Godfather of Global Underground and one half of Way Out West Mr Nick Warren. The first 2 hours 45 minutes is me and the final 2 hours 15 mins Nick. I think it is fair to say we rocked it, I hope you enjoy the mix as much as we did making it!

My June Mix was inspired by mine and Sandy's life in Dubai. We've been loving the beach, pool, boat trips and general good fun outdoor living. I wanted to put something together music wise that reflected a happy summertime beach vibe. Therefore this mix is pretty uplifting so enjoy
