On Today's episode we talk with Vera and Apollonia Ward who are sisters and were born and raised in King George, VA and attended King George County Public Schools. Apollonia studied Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech and Vera studied Biology and Economics and VCU. Naturally Vera, LLC is a company that was created by Vera Ward and Apollonia Ward to educate consumers with scientifically proven hair care knowledge and provide a product line that would in turn, yield realistic and desired growth and health goals for the hair and scalp. By providing excellent customer service, delivering information that is both scientifically proven and backed with integrity, top quality products, efficient business handling, affordable prices, and most of all, honesty, Naturally Vera, LLC. aspires to become a household name that takes the hair care industry by storm. "Our company has arisen in a time where consumers have a strong lack of trust with veteran hair care companies. These companies have been using harsh chemicals, cutting corners on ingredients but no reduction in pricing, damaging their hair, and breaking promises by a combination of misinformation and unrealistic growth and health goals for the hair and scalp, since they came into existence. Now, Naturally Vera, LLC intends to show and prove that our hair care methods work and will yield the results that are promised by properly educating our customers and promoting a hair care product line that uses the simplest of ingredients that will allow the achievement of any desired look without compromising the overall quality, strength, or health of the hair.
It is time to put an end to companies in this industry making false claims to the consumer. We will successfully arm our consumers with the knowledge to finally hold other hair companies accountable for the misinformation they have given and the damages to hair and self-esteem that has negatively impacted and affected generations. The competition will be easily weeded out by either being put out of business, forced out of business, or making the right decision to finally give consumers the quality of products and realistic expectations for hair and scalp growth and health that they have paid to receive and have yet to be delivered.
Aside from providing knowledge, we have the upper hand because we have faced the same struggles with our hair that the consumer is still facing. Instead of relying on companies who could not deliver our desired result, we did the necessary research and ultimately created our own product so that we would no longer be taken advantage of. We have the ability to connect with our customers on a personal level over a corporation who only has an interest in the financial benefit of whatever the latest hair care trend may be. Our customers will actually be able to relate to the very face behind Naturally Vera and see themselves in our vision, thus making Naturally Vera their staple product line and a household name."

Kaylee's Legacy Message:
You have only one life to live. Will you make the most of it? I ask myself this everyday.
Everyday strive to be better than you were the day prior. Life is a competition against yourself, not those to the left and right of you. If you constantly compare yourself to those to your left and right you'll only be as good as them. You won't get better by constantly comparing yourself to others.
In order to grow both personally and professionally seek out the hard jobs and new experiences. Maybe even experiences outside of your comfort zone. Be comfortable in the uncomfortable.
Remember we are all people. Regardless of race, gender, economic class, political affiliation, or rank we all have the same basic needs. Be a servant leader in all you do and I guarantee you will live a life that impacts many.

Success is a choice.

Till next time, Seek Knowledge, Pass the Torch!
On today's show, we sit down with Bill Largess, the Artistic Director of the Washington Stage Guild. Bill also is an Adjunct Professor of Theater at George Washington University and a very generous sponsor of Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis MD.
Bill was first impacted by mentorship by the example of his father, George Largess. Bill's father was a 1939 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a Commander in the Navy. In high school his mentor was Micheal Lewis and later in college Bill was mentored by Father Gilbert Hartke.
Bill is motivated by a passage in the bible, Matthew 6 25-27.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
And also by the following passage by Colleen Dewhurst a great Canadian- American actress:
"Life may be a mess: You may have a hundred crises forcing their way into your mind and your heart. But--and I stress this--the theatre and the person you bring to the theatre must be pure and clear and ready only for the work at hand. Your fellow actors, the stage manager, the dresser--they don't need to know the drama you have at home or in your life. Pour it all into the performance. Blow away the audience with your intensity, but don't alienate or alarm your coworkers with the diary of your life. And the theatre becomes therapy. So does the commute to the theatre. Just wash it all away, store it, command it to sit and be still. You'll work a lot of it out in the performance, so that by the time you face down the problem at home, it's smaller and it knows its place, and it knows that you've been made stronger by giving to others, by prioritizing, by doing the right thing." Colleen Dewhurst/Interview with James Grissom/1990.

Life is hard, but it is also a gift and we should strive to find our purpose every single day and if we are lucky enough to find it we should use every breath to fulfill that purpose and help others realize theirs as well. Life is a gift and should not be wasted.

There are alot of people who are smart, driven and motivated and none of them are seeing progress when it comes to reaching their goals. Why is that? The reason is because they are not focused. Without being focused the best intentions are meaningless and the greatest of actions will leave you exhausted with little to show for it. Focus will ensure that your efforts are pinpointed on results that will lead to your success. So on a bright and sunny day look up at the sun ( not directly) and think about the difference focus can make in any endeavor.
Alot of first us heard this amazing quote when we watched Coach Carter but it was Marianne Williamson, Author of Return to Love : Reflections on the Principles of " A course in Miracles." who first said it in her book. It comes down to not being afraid to live up to your full potential. As a friend of my wife and I, Bekah Alemagno, says... " Be your Best Self" by becoming the strongest, most beautiful version of yourself. Know that you are powerful beyond measure and that you should not be afraid of being great. Do not let others hold you back because they do not have the same goals in life that you do. Dare greatly, dream big and reach your human potential.
Man in the arena was only part of a speech given by President Theodore Roosevelt but it is one of the most recited quotes in the world. President Roosevelt believed that the success of a republic depended on the character and discipline of its citizens not on simply their intelligence. In life people are going to look at what you are doing and they will criticize you and tell you that you will never make it, that you are not food enough. At the end of the day those people do not matter. You must ignore their unproductive cries and forge ahead on your own path. Success is the fastest way to shut them up and leave them speechless and even then there are no promises. You will always have critics and the number will only grow the more successful you become. As you are in the arena of life, work for what you want and never give up. Make sure your place is never with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.
There are people in life who achieve great success and those who wonder why they cant seem to get ahead. Many times the ones who are successful are the same people who understand it will take sacrifice and work tirelessly to achieve success. The people who continue to wonder why they are not successful are the same people who do not want to put in the work to make it happen. When they hit an obstacle they give up. Ultimately success is achieved when you make a decision to never give up on yourself. You need to make a decision to be comfortable being uncomfortable because one day your grind and self sacrifice will pay off.
