You know not to invite anyone into your home and the Selfish Single is my home so I wouldn’t just invite anyone. Holy Spirit asked me to invite very special people to share their expertise in these conversations. This week’s houseguest for Social Wellness Month is the smallest, fiercest powerhouse that I know.
Angie Meus, a Chicago native, is a Haitian- American author, nurse, and journalist. Over the last several years she has worn a few different hats. One thing she’s learned and lived is that balance is key.

Accountability partners are cool but sometimes we need to challenge ourselves to see what we do when nobody's watching.

This week's episode shows that Living for God and choosing to LIVE for God are two different things. We all have a decision to make.

In this episode of the podcast, we will be looking at Philippians 4:13 which most of us know by heart in some form or other. The Berean Literal Bible translation helps us as we tackle Imposter Syndrome vs Self Doubt.
In this episode of the podcast, we will be looking at Psalm 16 (more specifically Psalm 16:11). Now throughout the books of Samuel, Kings, Chronicles, and Psalms we see David exemplify faith, confidence, courage and all the characteristics worthy of a King. But this chapter is one of the rare ones that shows David as a person.
Tis the Lenten Season. And its not just another Catholic observance. We are fasting in reverence and observance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
This episode takes a closer look at the purpose of fasting by way of Matthew, Mark, and 1 Samuel.

This is not a prophecy of the end times. Nor is it apocalyptic.
This week's episode focuses on the words Jesus spoke and what they truly meant (and mean in today's climate).

This week was hard for me. I had a lot of things come from a lot of different ways and I wasn't emotionally/mentally/spiritually capable of handling ANY of it ..... Or so I thought.
We don't talk about Judas. No no no. We don't talk about Judas.
Well today, we're gonna! You won't want to miss this week's episode.
The episodes from this season have all been geared towards the distractions that we've allowed to hinder us from reaching the purpose and the promise that God has for us!
Now that we've identified them, its time to possess the land!
Where in the holiday and hurricane seasons have you been?! Hey y'all, Hey! I've missed you guys. Let's catch up. Prayerfully, 2022 has presented you blessings and hope.
The Devil tried to keep me from putting this episode out last week and I went through hell and high water trying to re-record it. Nevertheless, here it is. I hope you truly experience the deliverance and healing that I prayed this episode would produce.
A prayer to and for all on this Mother's day weekend.
This week's episode has no points or conversation. I was simply led to pray what was on my heart. The list of mothers prayed for:
Woman/ Eve- Genesis 1-3, Blessing the womb- Deuteronomy 28:4, Jochobed (mother of Moses)- Exodus 1 and 2, Hanna (mother of Samuel)- 1 Samuel 1-2, The Syrophoenician Mother- Matthew 15:21-28; Mark 7:24-30, and so many more examples too many to name. Take this time to honor and appreciate your mother (living or otherwise).
These days we plaster the definition of loyalty onto any and all relationships that we ought not. Not just romantic ones, but friendships, business, and family tot an expectation of loyalty that is not based on biblical principles.
I bet you're saying you can't trust anyone who ain't loyal. Au contraire. This weeks episode takes the exploitation of loyalty and challenges you to view loyalty from a biblical perspective. Mark 2
I have been given the charge to be a Hope Dealer. And what does that mean?
Well let's just say that I have a new appreciation for the occupation. We're also recruiting Hope Dealers...But we don't peddle false hope over here!
Check out this week's episode to see if you qualify for the position!

It’s a natural inclination to seek validation. To want recognition for your contributions. The foundation of this is gratefulness. Think about it: someone does something that affects you positively, you say “thank you” and most of us have been taught gratitude from birth.
So why is there so much negativity around seeking validation? This week’s episode we get into just that.
Bible stories mentioned:
Cain and Abel- Genesis 4
King Nebuchadnezzar (Not Hezekiah)- Daniel 4
The Woman who gave all she had- Mark 12:41-44, Luke 21:1-4)

Welcome to Season 3 of the Selfish Single Podcast!!!!
This week's episode kicks off the season with a bang! We all have to face the tough decisions in our lives. But the most important decision is our "yes" to God. This episode focuses on our "yes" through Romans 9. Walk with me through this journey and make the decision to say YES

What are you gonna do?!
This week's episode helps us to choose whether we will sink or swim by identifying three (3) survival tactics. We look at the stories of the Israelites as they cross over into the land of Canaan (Joshua 3) and of Jesus and Peter walking on water (Matt 14:22-33; Mark 6:45-56; John 6:16-24).

You got me going in circles. Oh, Round and round, I go... Or whatever the song says! That's how life feels sometimes, right?!
Like you keep making the same mistake. Keep going through the same test. Keep dating the same kind of person. Going in Circles...
But what if I told you that's how God meant it?! Well, He did (in a manner of speaking)!!!
This week's episode breaks down that circle for us even though we hate its redundancy. We start in Exodus and end up in Joshua. Follow me. I promise it will be worth it!

Rick Warren perfectly defines Joy as the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright and the determined choice to praise God in every situation.
This week's episode helps to obtain and reproduce joy in a real and applicable way. Follow along in this series as we discuss JOY
Nehemiah 8:10, John 15:11, Psalm 51:12, John 16:16-24, Romans 12:12, Romans 14:17, Proverbs 10:28, Psalms 16:11, Isaiah 55:12, Psalms 126:5
This week's episode is NOT a rehash of the Self•ish Love episodes... This week talks about the importance of FRUIT. We highlight the importance of each fruit in our daily lives. The irony that the first mentioned fruit is LOVE is not coincidental. Follow along with this series. Galatians 5:22

Keep Talking, Talkers! This week's episode is an interview I did with my dear friend and colleague, Tiffany Purnell of Tiff Talks.

Everything is happening these days. Everything warrants our immediate attention. Everything is urgent and pressing. And in the midst of everything, God is still God. The question is will you let Him be God in your "everything"? This week's episode helps remind us to stop micromanaging Him and allow God to be God!
Proverbs 10:22, Psalm 139:13-14, Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8:28, 1 Kings 19:13, Isaiah 55:8, Isaiah 55:11

If your proverbial promised land was 11 days away, would you be ready for it? Would you embrace it? Would you have questions?
This week's episode focuses on how we must not be like the children of Israel in Exodus 16.
We have this incorrect presumption that once we're delivered from our sin, the "promised land" is this distant feat. That it can't possibly so easily attained and accessible.
Why can't it?!
Can you accept who God has called you to be over who you have mapped your life to be? This week's episode highlights Psalm 139:13-16 and Romans 11:20 and tackles the truth of self acceptance.
Last week we talked about taming the tongue. This week we focus on both verbal and nonverbal interactions while dealing with opposition. Romans 12 lays it out pretty clearly; this episode makes it practical.
We all know that life and death lie in the power of the tongue as given to us in Proverbs 18:21. But what if I told you that seeing what you say or yet the seeing the effects of what you say, have a more lasting impression. This week's episode focuses on WATCHING what we say
James 3: 1-12, Proverbs 18:21
Yahweh is the name of the eternal God. It means I Am. This week's episode meets Yahweh in the burning bush and again in the garden of Gethsemane. Listen in as I discuss this complete circle of realization and how that applies to real life.
Exodus 3:14-15 and John 18:4-6
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know I've been a weepy hot mess. so many mixed emotions but mostly sorrow for God's people, the ones that aren't "all in", and the ones that don't want to know Him. This week's episode records my prayer to Him and His response to me. We visit
Genesis 18:20-21
Genesis 18:23-33
Psalm 75
There will come a time when we will have to make our way to some stages ALONE. We can't bring the people in the stands with us. This week's episode looks at the story of Joseph and his journey but not in the typical "pit to palace" story.
Find Joseph's story Genesis chapters 38-50
We have a false sense of possession. Ironically enough, I came to this conclusion by worshipping during my car concert. This week's episode focuses on Psalm 68:1 to help clarify what belongs to Him, Me, and US.
Other scriptures mentioned are 2 Chronicles 20:15, Ephesians 6:12-13, Acts 20:24, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

We all have that thing that we know ain't right for us but we keep tiptoeing back to it (whether privately or publicly). This week's episode is a warning and my personal experience of what will happen if we keep "playing" with sin. You may not believe in demons but they believe in you and they're just waiting on you to slip up. Genesis 4:7, Job 1, 1 Peter 5:8, Ephesians 6:12, 2 Corinthians 10:5

This week's episode focuses on 3 areas of leadership along with some prayer strategy for each. This is a season where leadership is crucial. Please don't forget to exercise your right to vote.
This episode speaks to those of us in the waiting season. Based on the Story of Abram/Abraham (Genesis 12-24), we get real actionable tips for whichever stage of the wait we're in.
This week's episode uses my favorite phrase to talk about my favorite subject... Boundaries. Healthy, Biblical, Practical Boundaries. Join me as we discuss three areas to apply to life. Don't forget to share your favorite episode with 2 people. See ya next week.
Now that we've made the choices to do away with our superficial criteria, set the standard, and decided not to settle, we have to CHOOSE to operate in obedience no matter what. The Nevertheless Mentality is broken down in this week's episode.
After we set the standard, its kind of hard to know what we're looking for or if it even exists! This leaves us feeling like our standards are impossible to obtain. We look at Elijah's plight in 1 King 18-19.

Last week we looked introspectively "In pursuit of Perfection". This week, I challenge you to look externally at the lists of criteria and requirements that we create out of our imagination and expectation. Check out the sermon that I referenced on YouTube entitled "Rip up your list".
1 Samuel 16:7
1 Kings 1
This week's episode focuses on our pursuit of perfection and what the Word says about it. Matthew 19:16-22 GNB paints the picture in the story of the rich young ruler.
Matthew 19:16-22
Mark 10:17-31
Luke 18:18-30
2 Corinthians 12:9
In this week's episode, we look at the measure of sacrifice and the truth of love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and verse 13, give us a pointed look at love and John 3:16 gives us the ultimate look at love and sacrifice.
In the third and final installment in the Prayer 2.0 series, we look at making the declaration and standing on the belief that leads to salvation. Salvation doesn't have to be a one time thing... find out what I mean. Romans 10:9-10
In this 2nd installment of the series Prayer 2.0, we look at another popular prayer. The Lord's Prayer was given to the disciples by Jesus himself as instruction on how to pray. Theologians (persons who study God's word) suggest that there are 4 areas to assembly based on this model prayer; Acknowledge, Request, Repent, and Glorify. (Matthew 6:9-15; Luke 11:2-4)
I believe the Lord is calling His people to corporate prayer. Prayer is our most lethal and powerful weapon... especially when we pray God's word back to him. In the first in this mini-series, we look at Psalm 23 or the Shepherd's prayer and how to pray it in our own way.
The year 2020 has presented itself as quite the year. Amidst pursuing personal, financial, and spiritual goals, we are forced to deal with the global pandemic of the Covid-19 strand of the coronavirus. As a healthcare worker, the balance of vocational obligation has collided with vulnerable faith.
This week we look at Paul's adventure through hell and high water. Literally! Like Paul, we are facing all kinds of challenges and uncertainty right now. So here I am sharing this simple message of encouragement from Acts 27-28, Phil 1:2-6, and Rev 12:11
We've identified that our mind is playing tricks on us and we recognize that the enemy is nothing more than a roaring lion. Now we must open our spiritual eyes and ears to see and hear what God is revealing to us. We seem to seek and listen to all manner of resources to do that which God has purposed in us while incidentally ignoring the source. This episode came jam packed with scripture and a special prayer at the end. The scriptures mentioned are listed.
Matthew 16:13-17
Isaiah 6:10
Jeremiah 5:21
Ezekiel 12:2
Matthew 13:15
Acts 28:27
Romans 11:8
Romans 12:2
The story of Gideon Judges Chapters 6-8
Ephesians 1:17-21
1 Kings 19:11-12
Revelation 12:11
Are you afraid of a roaring lion? After listening to this episode, I sure hope you won't be anymore. 1 Peter 5:8 says the devil is a roaring lion so we get all National Geographic with it and dive into what that means. Let's get into it!
The Battle of the flesh is often discussed and fought but it starts with a battle of the mind. Do you have these internal struggles? Especially when it comes to doing the will of God? This episode discusses the strategy to overcoming that battle. Included are also the scriptures mentioned.
Philippians 2:5
Matthew 6:33
John 15:4
Psalm 50:10
John 10:14
Romans 12:2
Philippians 4:8
This week's episode looks at the story of Lot and his wife. The whole story can be found in Genesis 12-19. But I have questions... Did she really turn into a pillar of salt or was she just "salty"? Keep the conversation going in the comments. And don't forget to follow The Selfish Single on IG and facebook too.
The day of Love has come and gone and you're still single. You should call up your ex.. Or Maybe entertain that person who keeps flirting with you. No sir. No ma'am. This episode forces us single folk to take a hard look at our single hood.
This episode takes a look into allowing Jesus into our relationships (friendships, partnerships, family, etc.) through the story of Lazarus. Most of these unions are not about us but that God may be glorified. This story in John 11:1-44 helps us see just that. Other scriptures mentioned Proverbs 27:15, Proverbs 31, Titus 2, 1 Timothy 3:8-13, Titus 1:6-9, Matthew 28: 19-20

This has been a tough January! Did it take the steam out of you? Were you ready to conquer the world and then life happened? Well maybe you weren't as prepared as you though your were. Let this episode serve as some encouragement. I hope these tips help.
Are you claiming what's yours? Or are you ok with the leftovers. Look at the story of the 5 daughters in Joshua 17 that claimed what was rightfully theirs despite gender rights. They didn't settle for the leftovers either. Let them serve as an example to us all.
As we are making goals for this new year, we have to put some work behind all our talk. Whether to be baby steps or leaps of faith, let's commit to moving forward this year.
Be careful of the noise from Social Media. Understand how to filter and sometimes detox from the noise.
