In this podcast episode I speak with Toni Maestas the General Manager of the Albuquerque Social Club, Frankie Flores local drag queen and Director of the University of New Mexico LGBTQ+ Resource Center, and Julian Kevon Glover longtime ballroom scene member and assistant professor in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies and choreography and Dance at Virginia Commonwealth University. The 3 perspectives provide insight into queer nightlife in Albuquerque from a queer theory lens and national perspective.

I created this episode after going on a week-long road trip for a class I am in at the University of New Mexico, Route 66 The Mother Road. I discussed what souveniers mean, and how they are ingrained in humanity. I interviewed two of my classmates, Sarah Fryberger, Victoria Trujillo, along with the course instructors Jason Moore and Troy Lovata. This is the first episode of my podcast Unjust. It is an up-close look at the criminal justice system and what people from all angels have to say about it. The first four episodes all deal with cash bail. Episode one is essentially a rundown of the issue with input from Repasentaive Noor from Minnesota. The reason this episode is so much shorter is because of the time limit for the NPR contest, which it revived a honorable mention in!
