Siddhi started playing golf since the age of 6 and is grateful to her father for introducing her to the sport. 'Depression' and 'Suicide' are topics that have often been brought into light and discussed. In this episode of The Naren Agarwal Show, we focussed on discovering and understanding the science behind their occurrence from a Licenced Mental Health Therapist and Johns Hopkins University alumnus, Ms. Kriti Jalan (Msc in Counseling). She is the founder of an online mental health community called "Mind Th3 Gap" and has worked with trauma & depression focused groups of African American population in the US. Kriti is soon to begin PhD research at Alder University. A lot of answers gathered in today's discussion were eye openers. Having dived deep into the respective topics, we most importantly discussed the ways to identify suspects who might be depressed or showing suicidal tendencies and learned ways of helping them. We touched upon the "difference between depression and sadness", "importance of communication in dealing with depression and suicide", "the link between depression and suicide", "role of meditation in depression" and other such important topics. I was fascinated to learn how suicide can be "the highest form of rebellion" and even more astonished after hearing the logical reasoning behind the aforementioned statement. Most importantly, by the end of the episode, we all would be more equipped to identify victims undergoing depression or showing suicidal tendencies and may be able to offer them simple support that actually works!
