Do You Know San Jose? is our new initiative that explores the music, people and special places of San Jose, spotlighting the important role of live music as a part of its cultural identity. April–October, 2019, 15 events will pop up in every corner of the city featuring a variety of musicians and cultural activities.
Village Fest 2019. Sergio Jimenez of 2nd District Councilman hosted the event. He was interviewed about the event and Mexican cultural dancing by children directed by Elina Robles.

We did a west coast tour last year up to Seattle, portland, Eugene, Oakland. We plan on doing some more touring after we finish our next recording. We used to be a 5 piece but our singer and guitarist left so we decided to carry on as a 3 piece with myself and our bassist, Gloria taking over on vocals.

ABOUT
Established in 2009, Sonido Clash (SC) is a San José cultural arts collective that explores the diaspora of traditional, modern, emerging and future latinx art + sound.
SC was established as a need for creative nightlife events in response to the lack of diversity. Launching in 2009, SC leveraged the 2010 National Association of Latino Arts & Culture (NALAC) conference in San José to root the collective to a national audience as serious tastemakers in the scene. Presently, the collective focuses on curating specialized events in various spaces in San José and beyond. The collective and member DJs have been invited to play in Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Antonio, Chicago and New York. Sonido Clash has also established a bi-national dialogue with partners in Tijuana and Mexico City. The collective produces two major productions that happen annnual in San José: Selena Tribute Party and Sonido Clash Music Fest. Previous productions also include performances with Afrodita, Cuco, Helado Negro, Los Rakas, Ana Tijoux, The Prayers, Kap G, La Santa Cecilia, Las Cafeteras, Kumbia Queers, y más.
QUITAPENAS is a tropical Afro-Latin combo was born under the warm California sun. They borrow aesthetics from the radical ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Each song echoes a remix of history and invites one to engage in the liberating evenings of Angola, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and beyond. The name means “to remove worries.” Everybody has a “pena” and the mission of QUITAPENAS is simple: to make you dance and leave you without a worry.
