Our Hosts will discuss a variety of entertaining, educational and thoughtful topics. There is something for everyone!
After a devastating decision to keep the power plant open until 2019 and refueling it at a cost of $70 million we have a reprieve! Recently an inspection report was leaked to the CapeDownwinders indicating that after an inspection process, there were a number of problems with the plant's operation. My previous guest, Diane Turco, was the recipient of this email and one wonders if it was leaked "on purpose". We'll explore what caused this latest hullabaloo

What is Disruptive Innovation?
The theory of disruptive innovation was first coined by Harvard professor Clayton M. Christensen in his book The Innovator’s Dilemma, published in 1997.
The theory explains how innovation transforms an existing market or sector by introducing simplicity, convenience, accessibility, and affordability where complication and high cost are the status quo.
Initially, a disruptive innovation is formed in a niche market that may appear unattractive or inconsequential to industry incumbents, but eventually the new product or idea completely redefines the industry.
Today we'll discuss past innovations that have made our lives easier and are more commonplace. In addition, I'll discuss some of the technologies, though positive, that are making waves.

Now Russ feels grateful for every day. This is not something he thought he would ever feel, because when he started this show he was so angry & the anger really stayed with him for a very long time. When he stopped and learned the lessons presented to him he has seen a whole different side of himself.

The number of Americans who could be displaced by rising seas will triple by the end of this century. That’s the new conclusion of scientists who studied the impact of climate change on coastal areas.
The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts sea levels could rise 8 inches to 6.6 feet by 2100, depending on the speed and extent of polar ice melt
As many as 13.1 million people in the United States will be in the path of flooding by 2100, three times the current population that resides in low-lying coastal areas. Researchers estimate that 4.9 million people could be forced from the coasts if the seas rise 2.95 feet, and coastal areas don' take protection measures such as dikes or man-made buffer island. The number displaced could balloon to 13.1 million if seas rise 5.9 feet.
Although we won't be around to see this devastation, we have the ability to stop it for the coming generations.
.
Men & Women have all been raised in the same society. They have been taught the same way: that men don’t express their feelings. Guys always told to suck it up and move on. It creates a lot of pressure on the home front. Perhaps it is time for this myth to be exposed as wrong.

Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. Water, sand and chemicals are injected into the rock at high pressure which allows the gas to flow out to the head of the well.
The entire fracking process — from drilling a well to dealing with the resulting toxic waste endangers our water and the health of our communities. I will discuss the evidence of the growing damage caused by fracking.:

My discussion last month with Ed Kenny was so informative that I wanted to replay it this week. So I cleaned up the audio a bit and tweaked it here and there.
With the deregulation of the telecom industry in the 1990s, Ed and his brother Brenden were in the right place at the right time and created a powerful business as Nextel distributors. They never thought they could strike gold again, but after being presented the Viridian business opportunity in February 2010, they knew it was possible.
Because of Ed's hard work he has been able to participate in Viridian's 7 Continents in 7 Years program which is the mainstay of Viridian's global efforts

The Clean Power Plan focuses on the reduction of carbon pollution from power plants that causes climate change. The plan is designed to strengthen the fast-growing trend toward cleaner and lower polluting American energy.
As you might expect, there's a flurry of pros and cons and even a law suit to stop the EPA from implementing the Plan. We'll discuss the validity of these opinions.

Sorry about last week but there was a technical glitch. It's been a few months since we chatted with the Director of the Cape Downwinders, Diane Turco. Since then the power station continued a downhill spiral from a forced 12-day shutdown caused by electrical problems. In mid October Entergy Corp announced it would close the plant by June 2019.
Diane is advocating for a closure far sooner than 2019 because the public's safety is in even greater danger since Entergy has no incentive to invest money to maintain the plant.
We'll hear what is being done to speed up the decommissioning process and how it can be done safely.
Diane Turco is a retired special education teacher and lives in Harwich, MA. After learning of the threat from the Pilgrim nuclear reactor to the public and environment in the late 1980s and the lack of protection for the public at the state and federal level, she began to work for public safety and continues to investigage, educate and agitate for the closings of nuclear reactors.
The mission of Cape Downwinders is to take action to protect the lives and welfare of the residents of Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket against the threat of injury or death resulting from the production of nuclear power at the Pilgrim reactor in Plymouth.

After returning from NYC, I have been inspired to talk about the bridal fashion trends seen on the runway at New York Bridal Fashion Week! This is THE place setting trends for the following season and I can't wait to tell you about the styles and details the designers have in store for us. Will they work on Cape Cod for that "girl next door" getting married on the beach? I'm excited to say YES!
In 1978, when his daughter was diagnosed, cancer was virtually a death sentence. No one talked about what to expect or how to handle this kind of situation. Unable to discuss his fear that his daughter would be dead in 6 months, Russ felt extremely isolated. Much fear and frustration could have been avioded if he could have had a simple conversation.

Life Insurance is Wicked Cheap!
I guess I am an idiot. Just plain, stupid.
All these years in the insurance business (33 this month!) and I always thought people didn’t buy life insurance because I did not adequately convey the need in a scenario that made sense. You have a family, a mortgage, college for your kids, blah, blah, blah.
Well, according to a recent survey, I am a stupid idiot. It turns out, the NUMBER ONE REASON people are not buying enough or any life insurance is…wait for it…they think it costs way more than it actually does! Wow! Really! I thought I was a very intuitive person but, it turns out I was just a stupid idiot.
So, I am hoping to turn the page and mark a new chapter in my delivery message. One; You need life insurance. Two; it is really far less than you think. Three; you need to buy some to make it work.
We will discuss all the facts about life insurance including:
Types Uses Taxation The true costs
The very first thing I did when I got into the business 33 years ago was sell a life insurance policy. It was good and the person was surprised how inexpensive it was then. Guess I should have learned something since that time.
Better Family Communication
Russ believes that there is a need for men to create a language to discuss difficult things without feeling like it costs them their masculinity. He has been on the defensive end of the conversation and has realized that it has a rebound effect where no one wins. He advises Dads to check their egos at the door, because your children and your family need you.

In today's climate of growing energy needs and increasing environmental concern, alternatives to the use of non-renewable and polluting fossil fuels have to be investigated. Once such alternative is solar energy.
With the improvements made over the last several years, solar appears to be the answer to your electric woes, more so than wind or hydro power. The regulations and innovations that come together in the second half of this decade will set the stage for what the future of electricity in the US and elsewhere looks like. In this show, we will investigate the future.

The great American dream is homeownership, right? Or is it? With more Americans than ever renting instead of buying, markets bouncing up and down depending on what part of the country you live and foreclosures at historic highs, it’s a wonder anyone gets involved with homeownership at all.
But, most folks are not experts and don’t know what to look for to make sure the deal they get is the best possible. Think about it:
Buyers: Want the perfect house and neighborhood for below market valueWant the best interest rate availableWant honesty from the sellers AND their real estate agent Sellers: Want to sell to the most well-funded, pre-qualified buyerWant a short sale cycle and quick closeKnowledgeable real estate agent that knows how to market Real estate is one of the most significant financial transactions you will encounter in your lifetime. One mistake could severely impact all your future retirement and savings plans.

My discussion last week with Ed Kenny was so informative that I wanted to replay it this week.

You work hard. You save wisely. You transition into more conservative savings vehicles as you get older and then pull the trigger. You are retired! Woo hoo!
Now you spend the money you saved without ever taking in another paycheck. How long do you think your money will last? It had better outlast you or cat food could become your main dietary staple!
The fact of the matter is, people are living longer now than ever before, putting ever more pressure on those precious retirement resources. However, there is a way you can GUARANTEE you will never outlive your money…no matter how long you live.
We will discuss such topics as: The dangers your money will face in retirementThe difference between accumulation v. distribution strategiesHow to GUARANTEE you will not outlive your income…regardless of how long you liveHow to inflation-proof your income in rising marketsAvoiding the perils of market downturns in retirement We will dive deep into the weeds on these and many other related subject items to help as many people as possible rescue their otherwise imperiled retirement plans.
Listen, take notes and relax. Retirement should be stress free. We are going to show you how.

My very special guest is Ed Kenny, Ambassador with Viridian Energy. He's just back from Viridian's Accelerate conference in Texas and has the latest news. Can't give you a hint because even I don't know what it is! So we'll just have to wait!
With the deregulation of the telecom industry in the 1990s, Ed and his brother Brenden were in the right place at the right time and created a powerful business as Nextel distributors. They never thought they could strike gold again, but after being presented the Viridian business opportunity in February 2010, they knew it was possible. According to Ed, he is positively affecting other people in the Viridian organization, changing their lives for the better and helping them achieve goals and dreams.
Meanwhile, Ed feels that In a period of economic flux where many are stuck in the middle of a career change or are unemployed, something new and financially promising is not just a want—it’s a need. He advises that weariness can't consume you when an opportunity like Viridian comes along.
Because of Ed's hard work he has been able to participate in Viridian's 7 Continents in 7 Years program which is the mainstay of Viridian's global efforts - the commitment to complete a sustainability project on a different continent each year.

Everyone knows about the serious financial hardship that typically follows a major diagnosis such as cancer or a heart attack. What many people don’t see are the serious, long-term, devastating effects such a diagnosis has on not just the person with the medical condition but also, the family around them.
Families struggle to stay financially above water while at the same time, struggle to keep the family unit intact…oftentimes with little success. Such are the parts of the collateral damage that can last far beyond the actual medical condition itself.
In this show, we will discuss such topics as: The emotional impact and guilt caused by the financial hardshipThe cost of plans derailed by the diagnosisThe importance of getting emotional supportThe critical need to rely on excellent advisors I am honored to have one of the foremost authorities on this subject joining as my guest to discuss these important issues. Building Trust
Russ believes that men have been sold a pack of lies. Be Strong, Do Not Show Emotion, Suck It Up. All this does is eat away at you from the inside. Men need to come together and and create a conversation about how to do things differently in an effort to save our marriages and our families. It all starts with building trust among ourselves.

Non-Qualified v. Qualified money. Do I get a tax break for this type or that type of money? What are the differences between IRA/Roth IRA/401k/403b/SEP/Defined Benefit Pension? What does any of that stuff have to do with annuities, stocks, bonds, mutual funds or even life insurance?!
These are some of the most common question I hear from clients all across the country, from every walk of life. These terms, plans and products are so commonly thrown around, it is a wonder anyone has any money left at all!
In this show, I hope to take a whack at simplifying all these things and with any luck will be able to answer questions like: How do all these different things work with each other?Which things can never be combined? How severely your taxes can be impacted by making one small mistake with one of these.and much more. It is time to sit down, take a pencil, and learn these incredibly important terms and what they mean to you, your savings and your retirement.
Take 30 minutes to arm yourself with knowledge and once and for all, let the mumbo jumbo clutter be cleared!
Who Am I?

You worked your whole life...saved...invested wisely...avoided market risk...and now are finally set up to have a financially worry-free retirement.
Then it happens...a momentary lack of judgement on a dark and rainy night. Driving home from the grocery store, you feel a thud and sickening scream.
Someone you never saw was crossing the road in a crosswalk and you hit them causing serious bodily harm. Regardless of how or why, you are now facing serious liability issues.
There goes a lifetime of great financial planning down the drain...just like that.
Well, it does not have to be that way. There are ways to protect you, your family and your assets from circumstances like this. One such way is liability insurance. The questions then become how much should you get, how much does it cost and where can you go to get it.
To help drive these and other points home, I am pleased to welcome Attorney Karl Vrana, the principal of Vrana Law Offices located in Raynham, MA as my guest this week. He is one of the country's top personal injury lawyers and will share his experiences in the area.
Experience is something happens to have quite a bit of. After graduating from Suffolk University Law School in 1974, J.D. cum laude, he went on to build a preeminent firm in the field of personal injury and medical malpractice law among many other concentrations. Besides being a member of all local and State bar associations, he has also committed to serve his local community through various elected positions in town government. Professionally, he has helped his clients collect multiple millions of dollars in settlements for all manner of unfortunate happenstances.
He can be reached at 508-822-7300 or via email at kv@vranalawoffices.com.
This is an important show if you are interested in protecting the assets we help you build.

So grab a cup of coffee, sit back and relax. 2016 is here. The time to be ready is now.

With the huge amount of information I wasn't able to discuss last week, I decided to add a part 2 to this discussion.
A lot has happened, both good and bad, over the past year. But generally speaking we are heading towards a more sustainable planet given the inroads we have made and continue to make. I'll enumerate the issues but because there are so many, and time is limited, I won't be able to touch upon all of them.
I've decided not to discuss the recent climate conference but will leave it for a future show when we can discuss it more in depth.

Why is it important to express gratitude?
Research shows that gratitude heightens the quality of life. Today I am Wicked Grateful but I wasn’t always…There was a time in my life when I took things for granted and did not appreciate what I had. I’ll tell you the story of how gratitude changed my life.

You Can Do This!!!
Well, we made it! 2015 is nearly in the books and all the hope and promise of 2016 is ready to burst forth into our lives!
Besides being the year the greatest radio show on earth was launched (you know, Wicked Insurance Matters Radio Show with Greg Durette, of course), it would be safe to say it was an interesting and challenging year for our country and the world, to say the least.
We saw the "JV" team rise to a global threat while non-politicians stole the thunder from seasoned veterans. We saw the stagnation of Wall Street and the economy heralded by certain "journalists" and pundits as the great recovery. Riots, natural disasters, and "lone wolf" attacks seem to be the new normal.
To recap these events and many others, as well as connect the dots on how all these things make a difference in your ability to earn save and retire, tune in this Wednesday, 12/30/15 from 9:30-10:00am EDT and listen to the show.
I will do my very best to get in as many of the events that shaped our year as time allows. With any luck, we may even learn a thing or two about what we can do in 2016 to make things even better for ourselves and our families.
I look forward to your ears.
Happy New Year!
Having worked very hard I now find myself readjusting how I do what I need to do to get the word out about what I am doing, who it helps, how it helps and trying to polish it up. I will be reviewing everything and coming back after a rebuild of how I do it.
What I have learned along the way is that there are many more loving, caring, people out there than I realized. My aim is to study them, learn from them, and polish my personal presentation to be more positive and inclusive. Unfortunately, I think I got wrapped up in my unresolved, unheard issues and allowed them to make me come across as negative and no one wants to identify with the negative. Lesson learned.
I am not giving up ! I am only going to be using Facebook, Linked in etc to try to build something that costs no money. Bootstrapping can be done but it kills momentum in building a business. I finally reached the end of my ability to keep myself and the business with all it's financial requirements afloat, thus the break to reorganize. I am reminded of an old saying that I find works for this situation...."I have done so much with so little for so long, I think I can do anything with nothing at all in no time flat".
I AM NOT GIVING UP ON MY PROJECT. I just have to readjust. Watch for me on facebook, and linked in etc. I hope to show a growth that will be a little more positive that people will embrace FAMILIES ARE DEPENDING ON THIS PROJECT...
I just learned today that the magazine article in Women of Distinction will be out in March,
A lot has happened, both good and bad, over the past year. But generally speaking we are heading towards a more sustainable planet given the inroads we have made and continue to make. Do you want to say Merry Christmas but, feel like people will unfairly judge you? Do you want to say Happy Hanukkah but, think people will judge you evn more harshly? Do you say Happy Holidays just to make sure you are not offending PC correctness?!!
Well, if any of these are the case for you, then you need to tune in and relax as I explain how TRUE political and religious correctness can release you from the binds foisted upon you by a broadcast media gone insane. And, in the true spirit of my show, you will learn how this can save you money as well...go figure!?
This is going to be one of the most provocative and insightful shows I have ever done. You will love or hate it. Either way, I hope it will inspire you to think and enjoy your holiday all the more.
After all, holidays have nothing to do with money or control. They are just about love and family...right?
So tune in and get some answers...if not the answer. I look forward to your ears.
Oh and, by the way, there will be a very interesting mix of holiday music/sound bites which may or may not be qualified under the current definition of PC. Enjoy!
Be well,
Greg
For tonights show I would like to look at gratitude, as life puts lessons in our path to deal with, and the lessons we derive from them. When we look initiially at a lesson as it unfolds, we tend to look toward the negative side of it, but we neglect the positive side as if it was expected and needs no acknowledgement. My theory is we are a sum of our experiences, positive and negative, and we are tilted to the wrong part of the lesson. The beginning shows were for me to lay out the "issues or problems" as I interpreted them. Focusing on them and allowing time a new clarity emerges and a differing end result takes form. From the supposed negatives there is always a positive that emerges as well. We just need to acknowledge it to push our growth quicker. Lets share some specifics:
About the author: Russ Illes is the host of this radio show and the author of the book "Duct Tape Won't FixThis", a fathers perspective on raising a chronicaly ill child. Available on Amazon and Kindle and at RiverhaveBooks.com.

How can you protect your sobriety from unforgiveness?
Research shows that the negative emotion of unforgiveness can cause stress to build up in the body and there is a potential for physical, mental and emotional problems.
I know first-hand how true this is. In this episode, I will reveal what happened to me when I refused to forgive. In the end, when I was dying, I was finally able to let go of it. I will discuss how you can find forgiveness for yourself and others.
Special Needs Planning Issues and Answers
This is one area where experience is NOT the best teacher...it is simply the most brutal.
We all know someone, whether it be in our own family or someone close to us, that is dealing with the myriad of issues surrounding the care of a special needs person.
My special guest for this show, Juliane Dillon, Outreach Coordinator for the Kennedy-Donovan Center - Cape Cod Community Services, will help us explore some of the situations, challenges and solutions that are available to special needs families, as well as some of the key roles professionals in this field can help with that are often not discussed in the normal course of training.
The show will cover: The challenges faced when a child turns 20 and 22.Do I need a Special Needs Trust? Why inheritances are a potential time-bomb for benefits?Should social service professionals be aware of financial issues? Can I get life insurance for my special needs child or adult family member? How can I get the help I need from the agencies we use?and as many other issues as time will allow... It is critically important this show be heard by as many people as possible to help get this invlauable information out to those that need it.
FYI, Juliane Dillon can be reached at 508-385-6019 ext. 125 or via email at jdillon@kdc.org.
With climate change concerns, pervasive droughts, and high energy prices across the country, nearly everyone is looking for ways to conserve resources and cut costs. The good news is that by using a little "water sense" we can all save water, energy, and money,
Today's discussion will revolve around water and protecting our most precious comodity. I'll discuss the importance of water conservation and how clean water can change the world.
I'll also touch upon what Los Angeles, CA is doing as an example of what other cities and towns can do. Ultimately, we as stewards of this planet can do a number of easy things to converse water. If we all do one thing, the collective impact would be huge.
So tune in for some easy tips we all can do.

Why is Surrender Important?
You must realize that you cannot be in control. Whatever you
resist will persist. So let go! Turn over all your fear, anxiety and
guilt over to your higher power. Just say “Here!”.
In today’s episode, you will learn how to let go of all negativity,
shame, blame and resentment. I will show you how to surrender.
The funny thing about topics like Annuities, Life Insurance Disability Insurance and Long Term Care issues is, they become very personal to each person. Consequently, folks tend to want their very personal questions answered privately so as to keep their business confidential. It is why most folks will contact me after a show with their questions.
The other funny thing is, oftentimes, these questions are asked by many others...not just one. So, I decided to air some of the most common questions and my answers in this show in the hope many will benefit and get their "private" questions answered too.
Things like: Can I leave my life insurance to my grandchild? How can I protect my estate from my daughter's former spouse?Do I need a trust?Should I buy Long Term Care insurance or just let the State take care of me?My employer gives me disability insurance so why should I spend money on a policy of my own? When does a Buy/Sell agreement for my business become an unfunded liability? What are the differences between and IRA, Roth IRA, 401k and 403b?How can annuities help me with taxes? How can I make sure I never outlive my money?and many more... These are an example of the most common questions I see and will answer for you. Strap yourself in as this will be a fast paced show covering many subjects and scenarios.
Good thing it is archived on my blog!

A side step tonight. I am watching the world around me and am shaking my head as to the outright lies, deseption, twisted truth, and plain BS that is coming at us by the supposed news organanizations megaphones of the two parties. 30 yrs ago we had 50 independant news orgsnizations, mow we have 5, and they are leading us down the merry pathway to somewhere I am sure we don;t want to go. Iam not sure the President of the USA is even a patriot of our country. We need to stop and ask how much are willing to let slide without pitching a loud and boistress hold on GOUVERNMENT. You work for us, and if you don't , your out. We need to set term limits as this career politician isn't working.
Is losing weight going to be your New Year's resolution again? How many years have you been doing this?
Let's try something different for a change, something that is a lot easier to do. Think Sustainability
The Wicked Green Energy Lady discuss sustainability projects that are currently underway and give tips on how you can incorporate sustainability into your life with very little effort. You don't have to march down Pennsylvania Ave in Washinton, D.C. You don't have to conduct sit-ins. Just be aware of what's around you and how you can be an icon for sustainability.

Last week I was feeling thankful for a lot of things. Angry about some things and when I made the transition of attitude about the things I as angry about, my attitude sort of changed. I alluded to a change coming and I could feel it, well this week has been unusual in the way things came to me. More of a tease than anything else. A word here, a number there, just a tickle without substance. of what the changes were. Before I would not have paid attention.
Things that are happening this month are the Women Of Distinction magazine is supposed to break nationwide this month with a full page about my project. I am one of 35 nationwide who got picked for this.
I am competing for a space in an acclerator course to help me take my project forward,
Oh yeah, Christmas is coming too.

What is Turkey Table Talk? Well, hopefully it's not a long conversation with the big hunk of steaming protein in the middle of your table!
It is about the importance of seizing the opportunity to have some real, meaningful conversations with the family members you might only see on holidays such as Thanksgiving. Sure it is good to have all the "catch up" conversations about what people are up to but, what about the stuff that really matters? How are our grandparents/parents managing their money these days? Are they paying their bills okay?Is my aunt a victim of elder financial abuse?Have there been any changes in their healthcare?Have they had any problems online?Do they use support services in the community? How are they getting around town? These are just some of the things you want and need to know but, somehow never get around to asking. Sometimes, many red flags are missed that could have otherwise been noticed, thereby preventing a bad situation from developing or getting out of hand.
So sit back and tune in to learn how to get these important subjects out in the open. You will be surprised how good everyone will feel about it once you do.
We kick around the words, green living, renewable energy, fracking, carbon emissions, marine rewable energy, responsible consumerism and fossil fuels. But do we really know what they are, what they do and how they affect us and the environment?
Join me on Monday when we define these words and phrases, an examine what they are, how they work, their costs and what benefits or disadvantages we and the environment face.

Elder Financial Abuse.
It is a dirty, disgusting term that makes most normal folks cringe at the thought of such a thing. The sad fact is, it is out there...in your community...maybe in your own family...in so many forms and in so many paces, many consider it an epidemic. Go figure that.
This week, I am privileged to have Barbara-Anne Foley, Executive Director of the Harwich Council on Aging, as my special guest to help address this subject. In addition to her many duties in this important role, she has been able to leverage her experience with thousands of seniors and the stories they have told about financial abuse, by working with in partnership with the Harwich Police Department, trying to warn seniors about these frauds and scams.
For those of you who do not know her, Barbara-Anne began her career in mental health and career counseling in Braintree, MA. She also worked in an adult day care center and a nursing center on Cape Cod before landing her dream job with the Harwich Council on Aging in 1999. She can be reached there at (508) 430-7550.
She has developed a primary focus on Alzheimer's disease and hoarding, both population of which are growing in leaps and bounds.
In 2006, when her own father lost his 10 year battle to Alzheimer's disease, she and her family started the "Remembery Walk ---Dave Birtwell Memorial", raising over $150,000 to date for Alzheimer's patients and their families.
This show will hopefully help you understand: How to recognize elder financial abuseThe different types of financial abuseHow to uncover it in your own familyWhat to do about it once you do discover it This is an important show. Please tune in and tell as many people as you can to do so as well.
I have started paying attention to my intuition, and I know that a change is taking place.

The Wicked Green Energy Lady takes on recycling and whether it is both economically and environmentally sustainable. We'll touch upon the beginnings of recycling and the issues the country faced in developing recycling programs.
Our first talking point will be the Mobro 4000, the infamous gargage barge that spent much of 1987 traveling up and down the eastern seacoast looking for a place to dump its load. We'll discuss what Bourne and Malden, MA are doing.
Then I will regale you with some interesting facts, and lastly ask a few recycling questions. If you get them all right, you win a prize!!

Leaving or receiving an inheritance seems like the most simple and wonderful thing that can happen for a person. It is...if done right. If done wrong, the financial, legal and life altering consequences can be devastating.
This show will get into the nitty gritty about How to avoid common mistakes when leaving an inheritanceHow not to leave an inheritanceHow a divorce can steal your inheritance from your children and grandchildrenHow to avoid the most devastating inheritance mistake After over 32 years in the insurance side of the financial world, I can bring a new perspective to this subject that only time, experience and exposure to some pretty unsavory family battles can provide.
It is far better to learn about these things and avoid them than it is to experience them yourself and maybe survive to tell about them later.
Your family needs you to know. You need to know.
Two weeks ago my child had surgury to fuse her skull to her spine. They said it would be one week of hell after as the operation tried to heal itself. Today is day 14 and she cannot sleep because of the pain in her ear, left side of body, and the meds are not working not even a little bit. No sleep, no food, no relief of any type. 14 days of constant pain is beyond unacceptable and yet we must endure and try too keep the family functioning as her sister is there with her, and her family needs to continue to function so we all try to help.
What I am noticing is that the emotions and feelings are the same this time as all the other times. She has survived cancer 6 times and the feelings around this are no different, although they have diminished somewhat. Not much, but some.
Solar power is becoming very popular now. MA state even has a program for obtaining panels. Notr only does solar power eliminate carbon emissions into the atmosphere, but they can significantly reduce your electric bill. The Wicked Green Energy Lady will discuss the types of solar power programs and how to go about getting a no obligation, free consultation to determine if your house is eligible for solar.
Addtionally I will discuss the fears relating to fires associated with solar panels.
Everyone knows they need to do some sort of estate planning but, often avoid the subject. After all, who wants to really sit down and plot out our own demise?! The sad fact is, if you don't, all of your best intentions will likely get dashed on the rocks of your remaining family.
This show will help you understand: How to avoid the number one estate planning mistakeWhy one size planning does not fit allHow mistakes in planning could mean years of heartache and headache for your familyWhy inheritances can mess up certain members of your family I am fortunate to have attorney Richard Scarano as my special guest this week to discuss this very thing. Born and raised in Boston, he attended the pretigious Boston Latin School and later went on to earn his Bachelors, Master's and Juris Doctorate degrees. First a school teacher (high school, undergraduate and graduate), he later pursued the practice of law, with concentrations in Estate Planning and Real Estate. His teaching background serves him and his clients well as he is able to take otherwise complex issues and make them easy and fun to understand.
As one of the partners at Holmgren Koretz Scarano in Osterville, MA, Rich makes the heavy lifting of building a great legal and financial team easy. He can be contacted at (508) 420-8899
In my 32+ years in the insurance industry, I have had the good fortune to work with many legal professionals. Most are good. Rich is one of the very best because he understands people and their issues. He even makes housecalls!
Tune in and enjoy the show.
This show will be the beginning of the next step in the evolution of this program. I feel there are enough topics that are hard hitting and full of the tuff issues that are faced everyday as we try to get thru the stressful times we find ourselves in. The next part of this process is to get the word out to the people that need the information. I still have several national articles about to break and I believe they will begin the turning of the tide. While I am the only voice speaking about this topic it is difficult to get heard in enough places. The game plan is to now split energy to marketing and creating a resource page that gives helping info to anyone in need. By reaching out to other organizatiions and non-profits that are alreadyu helping people and inviting them to appear here we might move this forward quicker.

I want to continue our discussion on climate change based upon some additional reading I've done. The Cape Cod Times is doing a series on this with scientists and researchers from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Insitution, the Marine Biological Laboratory, NOAA Northeast Fisheries Science Center and the U.S. Geological Survey Coastal and Marine Science Center.
First thing to remember is that climate change and global warming, although used interchangeably, are really not the same thing. Based upon the disasters we've experience around the world, I can't image anyone believing that our climate is not changing. Yet we still have the naysayers. Interestingly enough, though, the pros and cons seem to follow party lines.
So again, I will provide information and some stats and you decide.
The number one fear of ALL people, regardless of current level of means is, to outlive the money that provides for your lifestyle. Imagine a world where the stock market never has losses. Imagine a world where your income only increases as time progresses. Imagine a world where, these thinds are not only possible but, have been occurring for those that know for over 20 years!
Tune in and find out how this isnot only possible but, how millions of people have learned how to take advantage of this tool for their own significant benefit.
Greg Durette is a 32 year veteran of the industry with incredible insights as to how these very safe, conservative products can be used to break the mold of conventional wisdom for your financial and retirement security.
Once again I had a visit from my anger. It raises it's head when you least expect it. What brought it up was the fact I had to find out about my daughters brain surgery on facebook from family half way across the country.
Why is that when you get angry, everyone comes at you trying to outdo your anger with theirs. It doesn't matter, family. friend, they all seem to find reason to have at you. Nothing good ever comes of it.
Let's look a little deeper at what the cause of the anger is and try to fix that.

This week has been difficult. Not unlike every other week but I haven't preped as much as I like to. What I will talk about are the similarities in our thoughts, the people we have in our lives, and my shed. "YOUR SHED?" I will try to tie it all togerther by the end of this half hour we spend together. It has been an unusual thought process getting me here. Different distractions have tended to derail my picking a subject but then one emerged all by itself. The reason I am going with it is I have learned to trrust my intuition when it alerts me.
As we travel this uneasy path with all it's levels of stress and distraction, we tend to gravitate towards the negative as the first line of thought. Once we figure out we need to rethink how we are in this world, changes are needed. What this topic covers is the looking at and rethinking what is worthy of our time and needs to be adjusted, in our minds and in day to day living in the real world. This is perhaps a look at my process, good or bad, but needed none the less. Here we go................

A friend sent me a post on facebook. It alluded to how much crap we have faced and still we made it. I thought that would make a good conversation. For myself, it took more than half my life before I started looking. When I looked back over the landscape of my life, I had to shake my head in wonder. As men we are taught to take whatever is handed to us and DEAL with it. I want to share my story, in an effort to make it acceptable for you to look at your life and share it in a safe space, without the criticism, shame, and the looks I am going to share the story of my life and allow you to compare it to your life and let;s see where we stand when done.

Stress is an insideous culprit. Stress makes you respond to differing stimuli in totally different ways while in each case taking you off your game. An example: my child has cancer, one stressor. Her Dr. comes to us in the very beginning of treatment and hands us a document with the explanation that they have a new drug and they want to administer it to our child. They believe it will extend remission. We have to sign this document by next week which absolves the hospital of any wrong doing in the event of bad side affects. There are only two side affects that happen,1. none at all. 2. our child drops dead on the table. A WHOLE NEW LEVEOL OF STRESS AND NO CONVERSATION TO HELP MAKE OUR DECISION.These are some of the things we dealt with while not understanding what or how stress was affecting us and our decisions.
There are many things stress can do to our bodies...it can cause depression, anxiety, medical problems like poor healing, IBS, high blood pressure, poorly controled diabetes and many more.

I'm struggling with being heavy and negative all the time. While this topic is troubling and intense, it is also part of life. It does not happen to be all bad all the time. We tend to focus on the negative and I am trying to break that habit. This show will have a mix of topics to stir the grey matter with a little bright spot as well as a look at the still tuff side of this story. Nothing can be negative all the time , but again, we only dwell on that side. A big part of this coming aware is the affect it has on everyone. We were raised in the same society and were taught all the same stuff, men and women. So when we, as men, awaken we tend to lash out and blame with a broad brush taking down anyone standing within reach.
Let me explain. As I became aware that I was not 100% at fult for everything that happened, I developed a righteous indignation that wanted to hurt anyone who I percieved had hurt me by making me the target of choice. I was ready to mow them all down. Meeting with other dads I clearly see that feeling reflected back to me and I can see and understand how the urge to lash out is strong and ever present. What I also know is that everyone, men and women, were raised as part of the society that perpetuated that myth. They are doing what they learned same as us. So by stiring this pot, I must keep in mind that I need to try to be evenhanded and try to set the pace for raising the bar to include the women in our reclaiming our families. They are as in the dark as us. Be gentle with yourself and the women in your life, we need each other to get through this and come out strong on the other side.

It is hard to talk about yourself in a way that shows the positive changes that have come to you as you work toward a larger goal. Tonight I would like to brag a little. Not much, because it feels uncomfortable, but needs to be recognized because it's true. I have dealt with this topic for 37 years, my child being sick, and dealt with this project for 4+ years. I have turned myself inside out trying to be bigger, better, more, different. After slugging it out in the trenches for a very long time, I am just starting to see positive changes in how I am recieved in the world. Subtle though they are, they are there. One very large one is the Women of Distinction Magazine has sought me out and invited me to participate in a special edition of their magazine, due out in November. I was interviewed, and invited to be one of the 35 men nationwide being spotlighted for doing something significant to change their world. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around that, but that is how important this project is.

Isolation is not a thing as much as it is an all encompassing feeling. When you try to apply what you believe, to the situation you are facing, nothing makes sense. Everyone around you hasn't a clue about what you truely feel but have a theory for you, although, it only makes them feel better because they can't wrap their heads around the possibilities that are your everyday life.
When this has happened enough times, you go inside yourself in search of answers to help you survive in their world where you need to live. Doing this over time isolates you from those outsiders, be it family, friends, co workers and you are forced to carry this load alone, adding to the feeling that no one knowes the pain i'm feeling and forces you to go deeper inside yourself where it festers and eventually comes out sideways at the most inopportune time.

As I collect information from my audiance, I try to respond accordingly. I ge so pasionate about men and seeking a healthy environment that I become tunnel visioned. This problem did not come about in a vacuum. Husbands and wives learned it from the society we were raised in. That doesn;t mean it's correct or one side is to blame. We all accepted our roles as they were laid out for us only to find out that they were faulty assumptions that now need to be addressed with open minds, cool hearts, and an openness to set aside the ego as we relearn to talk to each other and hear differently as we try to become whole people. This, I suggest, is how we weal the heart and ego from the embattled trauma of dealing with a sick child.

This edition of the program is apology for tech issues and getting to know each other better. I have been working on these issues for a very long time and I feel a need to let you know more about me as an individual and person. I have studied the issues as they came up for me, with professional help and on my own. I am not a man of medicine or the medical field in any way. What I share with you is what I lived through as it unfolded right in front of me in real life. Decisions that had life and death consequences attached to them and there was no hiding away from them. This series of talks will try to create an ongoing conversation among the fathers who have left behind

With this deregulation every resident can participate in their state's energy choice program by choosing either a pollution building brown energy supplier or a green energy suppliers which gets their energy from renewables. We'll talk about how easy this is to do and how it impacts your life.
We'll also discuss the rising costs of energy:what we can do about it and how to protect ourselves from "slamming"

Being Heard, Dads Need To Be Heard Too.
Here is the platform where you will be heard. Your voice is important and your concerns will be addressed.
My child had cancer and everyone believed, as I did, that the odds were, she was going to die. She didn’t. She and I suffered through 6 bouts of cancer.
As I tried to talk with friends and family about her, I learned, very quickly, what I could and could not say. On this show, we will talk about all of it: the tender moments and the tough stuff.
We need to include Dads in all the conversations: good and bad. The pain of the family’s circumstances is tearing him up too. Dads are expected to be strong for everyone else and not to talk about the pain. It's time for Dads to be heard as well.

Tonights topic fell into my lap through a decision I made not to attend my neices' wedding in Wisconcin. Trying to work this business up off it's knees, I decided to stay home and spend that money on my business, in an effort to help myself and the other 32 million dads affected by chronic illness.
When it was insinuated that I was selfish, I bought in immediately, for at least 60 seconds and then remembered that this is one of the many types of conversation we need to address to keep us moving forward in a healthy way. See inside.
The week that anything that could go wrong DID. Having come to terms with that, I have to kickstart my attitude by remembering all the people who are kind and loving and giving back to the rest of us by working through the worst points of their lives and reaching back to help others. Those who understand the level of pain being endured by others and are offering a hand up.
We know our congressmen and women are battling whether we are undergoing climate change or not. Without providing any political preferences we'll be talking about the latest discussions and "edicts" surrounding climate change from a pact between 3 of the largest polluting countries to the international reponse to climate change.
I encourage call-ins for a more lively conversation and, unlike Bill O'Reilly, I promise to be "fair and balanced".
