As I was practicing mindfulness this morning on a day of celebration for African Americans, self love came to me in my spirit.
It's something that we need to practice to operate at our higher selves and to fully manifest what we desire.
By referencing 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and with the help of a powerful person, my mentor, Shanel Cooper-Sykes, this scripture is broken down to explain how to love yourself and how it's apart of wellness.
Here is the breakdown of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 so you can take notes.
Love is patient
Love is kind
Love does not envy
Love does not boast
Love is not proud
Love does not dishonor
Love is not self-seeking
Love is not easily angered
Love keeps not record or wrong-doing
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth
Love always protects
Love always trusts
Love always hopes
Love always perseveres (long-suffering)
Love never fails!!!
Will you start practicing self-love today?

Depression in Women
This episode explains different reasons why women experience depression.
Depression can be from chemical imbalances in the brain. The chemicals or neurotransmitters that are involved include serotonin (Happy hormone), acetylcholine (memory hormone), dopamine (action hormone/movement), and norepinephrine (react hormone).
Depression may also be caused by other underlying medical conditions such as thyroid issues, cancer, and other diseases.
Depression may also be genetic.
Things you can do to help with depression
Consult your medical practitioner
Nutrition-A lot of fruits and vegetables (live foods)
Exercise -increases serotonin levels; nothing strenuous; 30 minutes a day for 5 days. Examples: gardening, walking, resistant band training
Sunlight (Vitamin D absorption)
Essential oils
Citrus oils-uplift your mood (Lemon, Bergamot, Grapefruit)
Grounding oils-keep you centered, helps calm the nervous system (Frankincense, Vetiver, Myrrh)

This episode is about how to holistically handle this pandemic. Here are the show notes: The symptoms of the Coronavirus are fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath. Less common symptoms include aches, pains, sore throat, stuffy nose and diarrhea. The flu has very similar symptoms but the differences include a sore throat, muscle aches and joint pain. Allergies do not include fever or joint pain or muscle aches, but does include sneezing, allergies, coughing and itchy eyes. 5 aspects to prevent the spread of the virus and to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
a. Get adequate rest
b. Exercise (30 minutes a day for 5 days.)
c. Wash your hands and daily baths and showers. (FYI hand sanitizer is not antiviral, it’s antibacterial. Add Lemon or lime essential oil or lemon juice to the hand sanitizer will help.
d. Respiratory etiquette- cough and sneeze in your elbow, use hand sanitizer afterwards if unable to wash your hands.
2.Nutritional-eat food with nutritional value. Eat more fruits and vegetables. They have phyto-nutrients to help boost your immune system. Citrus fruits have antiviral properties. (Lemons, oranges). Avoid processed foods, foods with a lot of sugar and foods that do not have any nutritional value. Use supplements as needed. (Echinacea tea helps boost the immune system.)
Emotional- stress, anxiety, worrying causes an increase of the stress hormone, cortisol. Cortisol causes inflammation in the body that leads to cancers, heart disease, and diabetes. Cortisol, overtime, suppresses your immune system making you more susceptible to viruses.
Environmental- 1. keep your environments clean (home, work, car, ect.) 2. Burning Sage purifies the air.
Spiritual-Pray, meditate, be at peace!!! Do not be fearful. Ask for wisdom and be obedient.
6.Essential oils that have antiviral properties. 1. Basil-used for chest congestion and colds. Works well with Fennel and Lavender.
Cypress- blends well with Thyme ct Linalol.
Eucalyptus- works well with Rosemary
Rosemary- has a component called a-pinene that has anti-viral properties.
Citrus oils like Lemon, Grapefruit and Wild Orange. They have a component called d-limonine that has antiviral properties. Do not use Grapefruit if you are taking Ace-inhibitors. (Lisinopril, Accupril)
Peppermint
Ravintsara
Other oils that help with respiratory conditions:
a. Bergamot-coughing
b. Clary Sage-asthma. Works well with Juniper, Laurel Leaf, and Eucalyptus.
c. Frankincense- immuno-stimulant and helps with asthma. The hydrosols are perfect for children.
d. Fennel-coughing, bronchial spasms.
e. Ginger- removes excess mucus and great for coughing. Can use ginger to make lemon, ginger tea.
f. Laurel leaf- this oil is great decongestant.
g. Rose- This oil is awesome for coughing.
h. Rosemary- supports the immune system and blends well with Eucalyptus, Siberian Fir and Frankincense for respiratory support.
i. Thyme ct Linalol and ct thymol, helps with congestion, coughs, and bronchial spams.
Disclaimer- Essential oils are not approved by the FDA Random myth: Masks do not 100% prevent viruses. N-95 masks need to be professional fitted to be effective. They are also needed to prevent an airborne diseases like Tuberculosis (TB).
