Allan Morrow (UK) is a name which has become synonymous with the worldwide Trance community, this talented DJ & producer from the United Kingdom has spent years perfecting his production talents and in turn his music has received support from various high profile DJ’s such as Armin Van Buuren, Simon Patterson & Aly & Fila amongst many more.

Allan first got immersed in Electronic Dance music by a visit to the clubbing capital of the world Ibiza; a trip to the legendary Amnesia for Cream followed and really opened his eyes to the immense power of Electronic music. Mesmerised by the Turntable trickery of Deck wizard Eddie Halliwell, this was a turning point for Allan and as soon as he returned to the UK he purchased his first set of Turntables, and began to hone his musical ear by perfecting the art of DJing.

Not content with playing the music he loved to spin, it wasn’t long before Allan decided to set up his own home Studio and became involved in Music Production. Allan has invested several years mastering his sound and this has proven to be a valuable asset making Allan an Artist that produces 100% of his own material, without the need of Engineers or Ghost-writers, something that not many recent producers can claim today. This has lead to his productions being on credible labels such as Armada, Blackhole Recordings, Damaged Records, Kearnage Recordings, Mental Asylum Records, Tytanium Recordings, Discover & Many more!.

Allan cites Paul Van Dyk, Simon Patterson, Giuseppe Ottaviani & Will Atkinson as his main influences when it comes to Production, so it comes as no surprise that Allan’s sound is rooted firmly in the more energetic side of the Trance Spectrum. His productions are always aimed straight at the global Dance-floors with club shaking Kick drums, Cone rattling bass lines & a touch of acid thrown in for good measure, his signature sound is always complimented by strong melodies, full-fire Synths & Clever FX which has earned Allan many plaudits from both clubbers, DJ’s & Producers around the world.

This has been such a hard track to let go and say its finally finished, but every artist has to say at some point now is the time or it will never happen.I hope you like my take on it. I have tried to stay true to that classic sound while still adding some of my own stamp. Welcome to the 6th episode of the “How To Make A Classic Trance Track” series, where I will be creating a track in the style of a Classic Trance track without the use of hardware!

In this episode, ill be arranging the track, creating transitions and showing you the automation used to keep things interesting! The arrangement can be a struggle for some as they are unsure of what elements to bring in, and at what point.

You can go back and forth, adding in elements that either come in too soon, or you have areas of a track that sound too repetitive and become boring. This is when automation can be used to help the journey flow!

The arrangement is obviously very important in a Classic Trance track, tracks back then told a much longer story than the more modern-day Trance so you need to make sure that the arrangement is doing exactly that.

You need to grab the listener’s attention and take them on that journey!

In this tutorial, I am going to be showing you the next stage of the track, and that is getting the structure of the track mapped out and ready for a final mixdown. This allows you to see then if any more elements are needed for your track, or if any elements are not really needed and are just wasting space in your mix.

Welcome to the next episode in the Ableton Live series were ill be making a Trance track from scratch!

In this episode, ill be going over the intro Trance plucks, Tension plucks, Call & Response & more!

Intro plucks are a great way to keep your intros from sounding repetitive and stagnant. They create tension, movement and uniqueness to your track, and can be used to help build the track.

In this tutorial, I’m going to be going over every element and the reasoning behind all of my decisions, so that you have a full understanding of what I am doing and why.

I’ll also be showing you some great tips for speeding up your workflow and showing you how to sit your sounds nicely in the mix!

Getting your percussion to sit nice and tight with the rest of your track can sometimes be very difficult when you don’t know what you are looking for in terms of the right sounds, and how to fit them properly in your mix.

In this tutorial, Allan will be explaining in a great deal of depth what sounds are needed for this particular style of track and why. Choosing the right sounds is very important to get that pro sound, especially with percussion as if you use the wrong sounds, they can stick out like a sore thumb!

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a while since I remixed a track. I had one and the vision in my head was simple, stripped back and built with big club systems in mind. I have worked on it for a while; trying to get the right level of raw, yet full and without pointless elements just for the sake of it. It was testing at times, but the vision has been met - I think! 🤔

This was a track that was never going to leave my studio without testing in a club first - I got to do that this weekend, and it was met with a great response!

After a few final tweaks, it’s now finished and available for anyone who wants to download - As with most classic reworks/remixes, there is a level of risk involved so please listen, share, download and more importantly, let me know what you think below!

Does your track sound muddy? Are the elements not clear and punchy?? Do your tracks sound bad next to the pros? Do you have great ideas but your mixdowns are letting them down?

Having a poor mixdown can be very frustrating when it comes to producing. You have spent all this time on the arrangement & creating great ideas like your melody and bass, and your track is fantastic, but the mixdown is just letting it down.

Are you sending tracks to labels and getting rejected because “It’s not quite there yet”.

A lot of the time, this will be due to the mixdown. Labels don’t have the time to go over every part of why your mixdown isn’t there yet, so will just reject the track instead.

When you learn to mixdown your tracks, the production process becomes so much more fun! No longer will you be stuck in a loop tweaking a kick and bass all day to realise it now sounds worse than it did in the morning. Allan Morrow spent over a year solely learning how to mixdown tracks because once you know how to do it, you can concentrate on the fun stuff.

In this tutorial, you will be able to see how Allan approaches his mixdowns to get the best sound possible. He will go through every individual track with you in detail and show you the processes of getting that professional sound.

Morrow is the man behind a slew of excellent productions since 2011 on labels such as Tytanium, Outburst, Mental Asylum and Grotesque. This is his debut on Pure Trance and this track is taken from Factor B’s Disc of the Pure Trance 6 compilation. When They Are Gone is dedicated to his recent family members lost, so is an emotional journey as one would expect, but a defiantly optimistic one at that, a glimmering synth riff emerges at the break, supported by a plaintive vocal pad refrain and the subsequent payoff ticks all the peak-time trance floor boxes.
