Trancendance has been broadcasting from Vancouver, BC since 2001. We favour Psytrance, Hard Trance and Epic Trance, but also play Acid Trance, Deep Trance, Hard Dance and even some Breakbeat. We also love a good Classic Trance Anthem, especially if it's remixed. Current influences include Sander van Doorn, Gareth Emery, Nick Sentience, Ovnimoon, Ace Ventura, Save the Robot, Liquid Soul and Astrix. Older influences include uni on Jack, Carl Cox, Christopher Lawrence, Whoop! Records, Tidy Trax, Platipus Records and Nukleuz.
I was in a hurry after a day of skiing and just grabbed a set with a bunch of my fave tracks in it.
Wow, I wasn't feelin' it when I came into the studio today and I really didn't think my set was going to flow together, but maybe, just maybe - it turned out pretty well! I'm hesitant to say because sometimes when I think it went well and give it a 2nd listen, it's not as hot as it felt in the moment. But I'm excited to give this one another listen. It's a real mix of new and old trance artists. Happy Sunday!

Not a lot of time to put a show together this week so I just threw some tracks in the crate and hoped for the best. Turned out to be several old recognizable names in the mix with several of the artisits having been producing electronic music for 20+ years!
Sandra Collins used to be (and still is) one of my favourite DJs. Long, slow mixes where you could barely tell where one track started and the next begun. That's how I felt playing this week's set. Now, sometimes when I finish a set feeling really good, a second listen proves otherwise, but fingers crossed this one will have you melting into your chair.
Tracks that I felt like listening to from a range of genres. Some trance, some techno, some bounce. Happy New Year!
DJ Solitare and I both agree... New School or Old School - good music is just good music. Try not to let trends and opinions colour your own feelings about the music that moves you! Then we both played some tracks. They were psychedelic.
Is that even a thing? Time for a new niche genre? I don't think so. It's all just trance!
Last week I rediscovered my love for deep trance and I was excited to play more. This week features some of the same tracks as last week mixed in with a number of new ones that I picked up right before the show.
Not a perfect set but enough solid mixes to reignite my love of this style of deep dark driving trance! You can bet there will be more sets like this in 2020!
Is that even a thing? Most of this is a little more dark/techno influences rather than the bleepy psychedelic stuff.
Picked up some new electro house tracks just before the show and mixed 'em in with some old faves.

Bit of a re-hash of last year's Parkproof set as I attempted to play something slightly more mellow ;)
In my crate, I use a colour coding system for my tracks. It used to be more complex, but now I basically just colour kick-ass tracks in blue. This week there's no new stuff. Nothing that might be mediocre. It's all blue, all the way through!
After weeks of psytrance and techno, this deep epic trance set came together beautifully! Like a modern day symphony...
Well, I've been away for 3 weeks in a row, and I think it's been even longer since I pushed a podcast out... glad to be back after what's quite possibly been the longest hiatus that Trancendance has had in over 15 years! Still didn't have much time for new stuff this week, but managed to pull together some progressive psy faves on short notice and had myself some fun to wind up a great Father's Day!
For the first part of this week's show, we sample a few tracks from some of the local live electronic artists that will be playing at Open Studios on April 21, 2018.
This week I was tired of see-sawing back and forth between the same old genres, so I dusted off some old breaks tracks and picked up a few new ones. A little rusty at first but was having a blast by the end!
I'm a week late on getting this one published... Can't even remember what I played! Uptempo pay-tech?
Not even sure what blend of genres this is. Some of it seemed to be labeld Bounce which I'm not even familiar with. Some of it seems to be classified as minimal or deep techno and some of it is tagged as psytrance, albeit pretty low tempo compared to most of the psytrance I'm used to.
This week I looked up from a mix to see someone grooving away outside the studio window and it took a minute before I recognized it was Scottie! I even convinced him to come on air and chat a bit about how he migrated from a club in Halifax to the Vancouver rave scene!
I've been raming up the tempo from week to week, and I'm starting to push into the faster stuff that I haven't played in awhile. Not quite up to full on speed yet, and I don't usually hit forest tempos, but still packing some energy. I think there's a few filler tracks in here, and a couple less than excellent mixes, but still a fun set.
After 3 weeks away over the Christmas and New Years holidays, and an extra week away due to technical problems at the station, Trancendance is back! And we start the year off with some up-tempo progressive psytrance!
We'll be away for the next THREE weeks (totally unprecedented) which makes this the last show of 2017! Some of my fave psytrance tracks along with a handful of new ones, including several off of DJ Fabio's new Therapy album! Happy New Year! See you in 2018!
There are a few mixes this week that clash, but that's what happens when you span decades and genres in an on-the-fly mix. There's brand new stuff in here mixed up against some old faves from the late 90s and early 2000s. Overall there's more that I like than I don't. Perhaps this set will get rearranged a little to smooth out the kinks in the new year!
I don't even know how tonight's show came to be... a wild adventure through several genres including techno, progressive psytrance, vocal trance, acid techno, trance, and I think even a breakbeat track. Definitely some stuff in here that I don't normally play!
DJ Solitare is back in the studio to share stories and part of his set from the Zna Gathering in Portugal.
Causeway is the trance persona of Alexander Hamilton, who has been "threatening" to play an all vocal trance set for almost 5 years. FINALLY he brings it with a seamless back-to-back mix of all vocal trance. Not only that, but he brought an actual platter of cheese into the studio to mark the special occasion! I tried (for a whole 10 seconds) to dig up my own vocal tracks to go head-to-head with, but alas, I couldn't do it, and resorted to some bangin' techno!
Dark Arps joins me in studio to talk about Live Electronic happening at Sequential Circus 21 coming up on Oct 7th at Open Studios in Vancouver. And then there was techno.
Started off with a brief Hard House kick after hearing a few tracks at Trancemission 20 last weekend, but quickly realized my old bones don't keep up with the 145bpm stuff quite as well as they used to, so things dropped down in tempo to some deeper techno with a few "synth-less" trance tracks ;)
All over the map tonight with some deep tech trance, some slow techno, and even a little bit of deep pay and electro trance.

A few weeks ago one of my favourite artists, Lamat, released a new Full on Psytrance album called Countdown To Extinction. This week we feature several tracks from his new album, as well as several of his older tracks, alongside a relatively new release from Electric Universe called Journeys Into Outer Space.
This week Jay Omega is in studio for a live guest mix and he brings some much loved psybreaks to the airwaves!
Slow Techno might be a genre you're not familiar with, possibly because we coined the term this week... Although Eric Allen's set blurs the boundaries between techno and trance, and while I tried to keep the BPMs low, still struggle to resist ramping up the energy...
I was in a rush this week, even late by a few minutes, so I scrambled to find an old set I could just dive into. The first half is pretty close to a show from several weeks back, but as it progressed into the second half it started to take on some twists.
Inspired by a show from a few weeks ago that had some great mixes, but wasn't good enough to post to Soundcloud, I started out with the intention of playing a very similar set, but just couldn't stop myself from adding a bunch of new tracks into the mix. I was so keen to give this a second listen, I stayed up after the show and listened to the whole set again before finally going to bed. Thank god, it's Easter long weekend! ;P

Hot of the Sequential Circus 10 year anniversary show, things got pretty spacey tonight...
This week Dark Arps is in the studio to play a guest DJ set and chat about two upcoming shows, the Sequential Circus 10 year anniversary Live PA show and Soundproof at the Anza with Dub Creature Soundsystem.
After 3 weeks off we're back with some brand new trance, some old lesser-known classics, and a bit of a feature on Gordey Tsukanov.
Spotlight on a couple new albums including the Suntree Package from Iono and the new Mirage album from Ticon.
After playing some low BPM progressive psytrance a few weeks back, and dug up some new low bpm tech trance for this week's show and discovered a few new artists including Harry Square, Johnny Yono, and Matrey.
NYX is in studio this week for a live guestmix, laying down the forest psytrance and crushing the likes of 146 bpm. I dug deep in the crate too and pulled out some 146 of my own, but I'll be damned if I know what subgenre of psytrance it is! ;P
Building on last week's deep set, this week continues with both new and old deep progressive psytrance tracks. A couple new albums are featured including Still Breathing by Robert Eister and Goa Journeys by Elepho.
This week we welcome Eric Allen back for a live guest mix, bringing some techno and deep trance from the lower BPM range. Smiley Mike rounds out the second half with some deep progressive psy.
Finally got to play a short psytrance set after trying to pull together a set to play at Trancemission 19.
Still mess in around trying to figure out my set for Trancemission. Not all of tonight's mixes were perfect, but there were a few track pairings that came out exceptional and definitely made the cut onto the short list! Warning: parts of tonight's show get SUPER trancey! :P

I was pretty wiped after both Fireworks and Pride Parade right before, but as soon as the music was turned up things seemed to start flowing together. Been on a pretty huge breaks kick lately!
Only a couple weeks away from playing at the Whispering Angels outdoor psytrance party and I'm sifting through tracks looking for the best of the best to make it into the crate for that night!

I've been remembering how much breakbeats influenced my musical taste in the 90s. I think I might be going through a breakbeat revival ;)
It seems like every week there's another genre of music or a new hybrid mash-up of genres to try and figure out. Indeed the classification of electronic music seems to be getting more and more difficult! This week I venture into the trap genre and what better to complement is with than some dubstep and pseudo oldschool rave breaks. Beware, this mix is not for the faint of heart!
Wow this week's show took on such a strange twist opening with a Biggie Smalls remix. There were several other tracks that I didn't get to including an Eminem remix, but maybe that will surface in a part 2.
