"Born in 87" is a podcast where we talk Mets, Jets and Knicks all the time! We are die hard Mets, Jets and Knicks fans who were born in 1987, and for 33 years have suffered rooting for these teams. Subscribe to our weekly podcast and share in the misery with us.
The “Born in ‘87” Pod is Back! It’s an emergency pod because the man that tormented us as Jets fans for over 2 decades, Tom Brady, is finally gone (hopefully). Adam and Justin debate how much Brady truly tormented the Jets versus the Jets just being an inept franchise (0:30), and what Brady’s retirement means for the Jets and our psyches as fans. Also, with Brady and Roethlisberger now gone, it feels like an NFL leaf has been turned, and we discuss where we think Zach Wilson could potentially end up in the NFL (and particularly the AFC) QB hierarchy.

The Mets, Jets and Knicks are always terrible and 2021 was only slightly different (I guess the Knicks did make the playoffs). For the final pod of 2021, Ross Green joins Justin and Adam for the annual “Born in ‘87” 10 Worst Mets, Jets and Knicks moments of the year countdown (3:40). If you listen to us and root for these terrible teams, you are used to the misery, so listen to our end of year countdown and as always, hope next year will be better.
At the end of the pod we make Week 17 NFL Picks (1:12:53).
Thank you for listening in 2021 and we promise to continue bringing you great content in 2022!

On today’s pod, we rank the Mets, Jets and Knicks in order of how close we think each team is to a championship, aka, our “Crap Rankings” (0:30). We like to dream and think that one day we will see one of our three beloved teams win a championship, so from time to time on this pod, we like to come up with a “Crap Ranking” to determine the order of how close each of our teams is to that illustrious title. Generally, we just do this to torture ourselves because we will probably never see any of our teams win a championship, but ranking the teams in this way allows us to delve into the incompetency of these organizations and project down the road to see if any could eventually become true contenders. After we torture ourselves by ranking the three crappy teams we root for, at the end of the pod we make Week 15 NFL Picks (45:14).

Max Scherzer (as well as Starling Marte, Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha) are New York Mets. Steve Cohen is the greatest owner of all time, Billy Eppler is the greatest GM of all time, and everything is Amazin’ when it comes to the Mets! On this episode of the “Born in ’87” pod, Justin and Adam are joined by recurring guests Travis Williams and Alex Bigelisen for an unusually happy episode of the pod, as we celebrate all of the Mets big signings, including the historic signing of Max Scherzer (0:12). At the end of the pod we make Week 13 NFL Picks (49:18).

It is a special Thanksgiving Edition of the Born in ’87 Podcast, but since we are Mets, Jets and Knicks fans and have nothing to be (sports) thankful for, on today’s pod we look back at our last 10 years of sports fandom and pick a “What If?” scenario for each team, and ponder how the last decade may have played out differently if these topics we discuss did in fact happen (0:43). After we discuss a What-If scenario for each of the Jets, Mets and Knicks, at the end of the pod we make Week 12 NFL Picks (27:25).
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Noah Syndergaard is no longer a Met and the Mets have finally hired a General Manager. Clearly this called for an (albeit delayed) emergency pod. Noah Syndergaard was one of our favorite Mets over the past 7 years, and seeing him leave brought out a lot of emotion. Adam and Justin try to come to grips with the fact that Noah will be pitching in Anaheim next season (0:32), while also discussing the Mets hiring new GM Billy Eppler (13:04). We also breakdown the miserable déjà vu we are experiencing with the Jets starting Joe Flacco over Mike White at Quarterback this Sunday against Miami (21:41), and at the end of the pod we make our Week 11 NFL Picks (31:14).

Mike White became the first QB in ten years to throw for 400 yards in his first NFL start AND he led the Jets to an improbable come from behind win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Of course today’s pod is all about Mike White! Lance Kravitz returns to the pod, as we break down his historic first start, debate how long White will start, when we’ll see Zach Wilson again, and just how good Mike White could actually be (0:22). We also have a segment where we have a little fun and decide which famous person with the last name “White” will Mike White most be like?(34:10) At the end of the pod we preview Thursday Night Football where Mike White and the Jets will face off against the Indianapolis Colts and we make our Week 9 NFL Picks (43:08).

On today's pod we ask the question, is Carmelo Anthony really one of the 75 best players in NBA history? Last week, in honor of the NBA's 75th season, the NBA released its list of the 75 best players of all time. A former Knick who we watched a lot of, Carmelo Anthony, made this list and on today's pod, we debate whether or not Melo deserved to make it (12:15). Before analyzing Melo's career and debating whether he deserved his Top 75 spot over other players who did not make it, we begin the pod complaining about the Jets and praising the 2021-22 Knicks on their 3-1 start (0:12). At the end of the pod we make Week 8 NFL Picks (47:05).

The 2021-22 Knicks season begins on Wednesday and on today’s pod, Tom Leninger and Chris Meany join us to preview it (0:55). We had a lot of fun on this pod, as we preview a season for one of our teams that comes with both expectation, and is coming off of a year where the Knicks actually made the playoffs. We talk about pretty much any subplot you could think of for the upcoming Knicks season, and have a lot of fun taking some trips down memory road as well. We also make weekly NFL Picks (1:15:55). We had a blast recording this pod, and is a must listen to get you ready for the Knicks season!

On today's pod we put the Mets 2021 season to bed and begin to look forward to 2022. Before the season, Justin and Adam had Ross Green, Alex Bigelisen and Travis Williams on the pod, and we conducted our WAR Draft, where we each selected 5 Mets as part of a contest where the person who selected the 5 players with the best cumulative WAR in 2021 would win our "WAR Games" competition. Ross Green was the winner of that contest and at the top of the pod, Justin interviews Ross as he basks in the glory of his WAR Championship(0:01). On the main part of the pod (11:40), Justin and Adam bring on Alex Bigelisen to discuss the 2021 Mets season, try to find some silver linings and hope that next year may somehow be better. Towards the end of the pod, we get frustrated talking about the Mets, and we celebrate the Jets first win of the year and make Week 5 NFL Picks (45:45).

The Jets are 0-3 and have looked completely miserable in the process. Today’s pod is real simple, it is a Jets Airing of Grievances. Frank Costanza created Festivus to air familial grievances, we have this podcast to air our Jets Grievances. Friends of the pod, James Arnone, Lance Kravitz and Travis Williams join us, as we spend a lot of time complaining about the Jets and trying to see if there are any silver linings with this team after the 0-3 start (2:40). We also make Week 4 NFL Picks (49:14).

Another season of Jets Football begins on Sunday, and when you look at the Jets 22 starters, the most surprising name on that list may be their rookie 6th round linebacker out of Florida State, Hamsah Nasirildeen. Our guest on today’s pod (0:26), is Max Moody, one of the Hosts of the “Locked on Seminoles” Podcast. Max is a diehard Florida State Seminoles fan who watches their games closer than anyone, and he is going to tell you why he feels that Hamsah Nasirildeen was the steal of the 2021 draft, and is going to be a star for the Jets (11:45). Max also tells us why former FSU star and current Jet starter Lamarcus Joyner may turn it around this year, as well as give his insight on the bevy of young players he watched in the ACC that are now New York Jets. At the top of the pod, we put Max in the Tortured Fan Corner, and at the end of the pod we make our Week 1 NFL Picks (38:47). We had a great time discussing Hamsah Nasirildeen and some of the other young talent on the Jets, this is a pod that will definitely get you excited for the Jets season beginning Sunday.

On today's pod (0:26) we get ready for the Jets 2021 season with a very simple shtick. For the 2nd straight year, Tom Leninger comes on the pod as we go through the Jets schedule game-by-game, and as a podcast, decide just how many games the Jets will win in 2021 (10:05). Regardless of how good the Jets may be in 2021, this pod got us excited for Zach Wilson, Rob Saleh and a new year of Jets Football!

Get excited Jets fans, football is back, and maybe you'll even have a Jet on your Fantasy Team! Okay, maybe having a Jet on your fantasy team is not the best idea, but on today's pod (2:12), we are going to break down all of the key Jets offensive skill players anyway and let you know if they are worth drafting in your fantasy league.
Before we break down Zach Wilson, Corey Davis, Elijah Moore and the rest of the Jets offensive skill position players (14:45), we touch on the unfortunate injury to Carl Lawson (0:01), and while this may be a Jets pod, (since it is basically over) we felt compelled to vent and put the 2021 Mets season to bed (3:28).

Happy Anniversary to us! That's right, the "Born in '87" pod has just celebrated its 1 year anniversary! To celebrate we are looking ahead to the future with our most frequent guest from our first year of podcasting, Travis Williams. On today's pod, Justin, Adam and Travis are doing a Mount Rushmore draft of who we each think will be the most important Mets, Jets and Knicks in 2024 (1:00). We had a lot of fun recording this and trying to figure out which members of the wonderful organizations we root for, deserved to be drafted.
As we celebrate 1 year of podcasting, we want to thank all the fans who have checked us out over the past year!

The first half of baseball season is in the books and the 2nd half starts this Friday. Despite all the injuries, the Mets ended the first half with a 3.5 game lead in the NL East. Do we feel good about that? I guess you'll have to listen to find out! On this pod we discuss we liked and didn't like about the first half, and what we are both excited and not excited for in the 2nd half. We also make our big 2nd half predictions. #LGM #LFGM #METS

If you enjoyed Part 1 of our Mike Maccagnan Deep Dive, here is Part 2! Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 left off (1:28), as we begin the pod talking about Maccagnan's performance in 2018. If you are thinking, how come Part 1 covered 2015, 16 and 17? And Part 2 only covers 2018 and 2019, well, that is because there is A LOT to unpack from Mikey Mac's final two years as Jets GM. If you're as much of a self-deprecating Jets fan as Justin, Adam and Lance are, then you will definitely enjoy Part 2 of our Mike Maccagnan Deep Dive!

We’re back! On today’s edition of the “Born in ‘87” podcast, we are going to do something we have wanted to do for a long time. Lance Kravitz returns to the pod for the Great Mike Maccagnan Deep Dive (1:48). The Jets have been inept for years and currently have the longest playoff drought in the NFL, if you want to find the main culprit for that, look no further than the man who was the Jets General Manager from 2015-2019. In fact, unpacking this man’s ineptitude took so long, we ended up having to split up our deep dive into two parts! Here on Part 1 of the Great Mike Maccagnan Deep Dive, we break down his roster moves from 2015-2017. If you love crapping on Mike Maccagnan, you will definitely enjoy this pod.
Look out for Part 2 of the Great Mike Maccagnan Deep Dive, which will be released in a few days. On Part 2, we will cover Mike Maccagnan’s performance in 2018 and 2019.

The Knicks season ended two weeks ago, and the Born in 87 guys are ready to give you a postmortem for their 2020-2021 season (0:50). This pod was recorded about a week ago, however we stand by the takes on this pod. We review everything about this season, the highs of the regular season, the disappointment of the playoff loss to Atlanta, and we discuss what major moves we think the Knicks may need to make going into the 2021-22 season. Adam also shares his highly controversial take that this season where the Knicks came out of nowhere to grab the #4 seed in the East, may not have been worth it!

On today's pod, we are doing something we thought we would never do, talk hockey! It took the Islanders reaching the Stanley Cup Semifinals for the 2nd straight season, but we have succumbed and we have brought James Arnone on the pod to tell us everything we need to know about this year's Islanders team, why as Mets-Jets-Knicks fans we need to be watching, and to break down this playoff matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning. If you are looking for some good game-day listening leading up to Game 1, look no further and check out our Islanders Playoff preview.

We’re back talking Mets! But we’ve been distracted, between the Knicks postseason, Jets offseason, and all the late-night games on the West Coast, we haven’t been as locked in to the Mets as we should be (especially since we host a podcast covering them). Alex Bigelisen returns to the pod to fill in the gaps for us, and tell us How in Holy Hell do the Mets keep winning? We also discuss the Mets insanely good odds to win the World Series (according to FanGraphs), and have a fun discussion about what Mets, Jets and Knicks teams in our lifetimes have had better title shots than this 2021 Mets team.

Harrison Glaser is Back! The CEO of Take Flight Media, Harrison Glaser, joins us on today’s pod to provide a lot of great player insight and break down the Jets 2021 offseason (1:30). We discuss Zach Wilson (10:39), do a deep dive on Joe Douglas’s 2021 Draft (21:59), and debate who their best pickups were in Free Agency (50:24). We also have some fun at the end of the pod figuring out where the Jets currently rank in the NFL hierarchy and whether or not we think the Jets can hit the Over on their Over/Under number of 6 in 2021 (59:12). Harrison provides a ton of great insight and this pod is must listen for all of Jets Nation!

After a bit of fun at the top of the pod, we get into breaking down the Jets draft (1:12) with John Hill and Travis Williams. While we do talk extensively about the Jets first 3 picks, Zach Wilson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, and Elijah Moore, the crux of our debate is whether or not the Jets made the right draft choices positionally, and whether or not Joe Douglas made the correct decision to stay at picks 2 and 34, and trade up for AVT at 14. We do not pretend to be experts about the players the Jets drafted, but we do discuss if from a team building standpoint, the best decisions were made. Regardless though of what we think, the Jets have (hopefully) new studs at Quarterback, Left Guard, Wide Receiver, and a whole bunch of other rookies as well. For the first time in a while, we feel it is fun to be a Jets fan again, and if you feel that way too, you’ll love this pod!

The Knicks keep rolling and for the first time in eight years are primed to make the playoffs. If you want to hear a good discussion about everything going on with the Knicks both now, and what may happen with the Knicks this offseason, you have come to the right podcast! On today's pod, we sit back and appreciate everything going on with this Knicks team that currently sits alone in 4th place in the East, the ascent of Julius Randle, the emergence of RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, and the resurrection of Derrick Rose. We also discuss at length the players the Knicks could potentially sign or trade for this offseason that could vault the Knicks from their current standing as a top 10 team in the NBA, to a top 5 title contender, maybe as early as next season. Chris Meany joined us to talk Knicks for 80 minutes on this pod, and honestly we probably could have gone a lot longer. It feels so good to be able to talk relevant Knicks basketball again, and we think this a pod all Knicks fans will thoroughly enjoy.

The Mets season is not off to a great start, but today, on a day where the Mets did not even lose a game, they showed a remarkable amount of organizational incompetence by starting their game against the Miami Marlins, just for it be postponed nine Marcus Stroman pitches into the game. Then to make matters worse, it was announced that Stroman (after just those nine pitches) will not be able to pitch again for five days. On this pod we complain about all the events of this disastrous rainy Sunday, and the poor on field performance over their first five games. We let Luis Rojas have it too. Listen to it all now on this Emergency Edition of the "Born in '87" podcast.

If you want some rapid reactions to the dumpster fire that was this Mets opening night loss (27:20), you have come to the right place. It was a crazy Monday for our three teams, the Mets open their season with an unexpected loss, the officially failed Sam Darnold experiment comes to an end as the Jets trade Darnold to the Carolina Panthers (5:48), and the Knicks lose to the other team that plays home games in a NYC borough, the Brooklyn Nets (18:29). Here us break it all down in this emergency pod.
If you don’t want to read all that, the time stamps are also below:

Knicks lose to the Nets (18:29)
Mets lose their season opener (27:20)

On today’s pod (1:00) we are previewing the Mets 2021 season by playing WAR Games (and no, we’re not referring to the old wrestling gimmick or Matthew Broderick movie)! The “Born in ‘87” podcast’s version of WAR Games consists of a 5 round snake draft in which our guests, Travis Williams, Ross Green and Alex Bigelisen join us to draft players on the Mets. The goal with each pick in our draft is to draft the available Mets player who will have the best WAR in 2021. The person who collectively drafts the 5 players with the best cumulative WAR in 2021 wins. Drafts are fun, and this proved to be a really entertaining way to talk about all of the players on the Mets 2021 roster, and preview the season which is about to begin on Thursday night. At the top of the pod, we briefly go through why we are excited (or nervous) about the 2021 Mets (3:30), and then we jump into our WAR Draft (10:17).

The Knicks are 18-17 and currently the #4 seed in the East! It is time to get excited Knicks fans. For the first time in eight years, we can talk about both how the Knicks can improve themselves for a playoff run this season AND how they can improve themselves in the future. Matt Reznik joins us on the pod to go through a whole bevy of mock trades (5;41). These trades are all realistic trades that have passed through the ESPN Trade Machine, as we ponder what it would take to bring in the likes of a Bradley Beal (36:08), and a whole bunch of other guys who could help the Knicks as well. On this pod we also put Matt into the Tortured Fan Corner (1:40) and have an unexpected podcast surprise (1:02:26).

As Mets fans we may love our team, but they have let us down time and time again, usually in painfully agonizing ways. If you are looking for a crazy, fun, insightful pod that at points becomes chaotic, well, this is the pod for you! On this episode of the "Born in '87" podcast, we debate just about every aspect of the Jets 2020 season, and more specifically, how Joe Douglas did in his first draft and full season as Jets General Manager. We debate it WWE Tag Team Style as Adam and Erik Montalbano team up against Justin and Lance Kravitz, while James Arnone mediates the mayhem. We recorded this pod prior to the Jets hiring of Rob Saleh, so Adam and Justin give you their thoughts about the Saleh hiring at the top of the pod (0:01). On the main pod (6:13) the two teams debate last offseason and the draft (12:56), whether or not Joe Douglas failed Sam Darnold (33:42), should Sam Darnold be the QB in 2021 (42:16), whether or not Gase should have been fired earlier (1:01:03), and should the Jets trade for Deshaun Watson (1:08:16). At the end of the pod, mediator/referee James Arnone declares the Born in '87 Tag Team Champion (1:18:14)!

The "Born in '87" podcast is back with our first episode of 2021! Our final pod of 2020 talked about the worst Mets, Jets and Knicks moments of 2020, so we begin 2021 talking about something awesome. The Mets traded for Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco, and they didn't have to trade too much to do it. On this pod, we share our excitement over this move and discuss how it affects the team as they are now currently constructed, and how we think it will affect their moves the remainder of the offseason.

The Mets, Jets and Knicks are always terrible and 2020 was no different. Therefore for our final pod of 2020, Ross Green joins Justin and Adam to countdown the 10 Worst Mets, Jets and Knicks moments of the year (15:00). At the top of the pod, we briefly discuss the Jets, as they are coming off of their Browns win which solidified their positioning at #2 in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the end of the pod we make our Week 17 Picks (1:19:43). If you listen to us and root for these terrible teams, you are used to the misery, so listen to our end of year countdown and as always, hope next year will be better.
Thank you for listening in 2020 and we promise to continuing bringing you great content in 2021!

It is the eve of the Knicks 2020-21 season, and the "Born in '87" pod is here to preview it. Chris Meany returns as we break down the Knicks offseason and look ahead to what we expect from the team this season. While we may not think the Knicks will be very good this season, I think you will find that this is the most optimistic we have been about this team in about 7 years. It is time to get excited for some Knicks basketball, enjoy!

Jets 23-Rams 20. The Jets beat the Rams and the Jets will now (probably) not have the opportunity to draft Trevor Lawrence. Shortly after this game went final, we recorded an emergency pod, sharing our raw real-time emotions after this Jets win which no Jets fan wanted. Share in the misery with us on this one.

The Mets have have hired new General Manager, Jared Porter, and we have brought Travis Williams onto the pod (for a record 3rd time) to talk about it (9:55). While we do spend the majority of this pod discussing Jared Porter and the what we would like to see him do with the Mets this offseason, this pod take a bunch of wild and wacky turns. Toward the end of the pod, we transition into Jets talk, as we break down the instant classic Jets skit from last week's episode of Saturday Night Live (48:12), Travis combats some of the Jets takes from our recent podcast guests (54:18), and we make our Week 15 NFL Picks (1:02:49). Before all of that though, we also throw Travis into the Mets Tortured Fan Corner (3:01). We had some good Mets and Jets talk on this pod with a lot of laughs along the way, enjoy!

Who will the next Head Coach of the New York Jets be? We may not know the answer to that question, but on today’s pod we are going to break down all of the candidates (6:04). John Hill and Erik Montalbano join us as we do a deep dive into all the guys that Joe Douglas may consider hiring. We break down the guys everyone are talking about (Bieniemy and Smith), some names that are a bit fantastical (Cowher and Pennington), some that are a bit ridiculous (Ryan and Manning), and many more. At the top of the pod, we put Erik into the Tortured Fan Corner. We had a lot of fun breaking down these coaching candidates and think this is a pod you will really enjoy!

This is a very special episode of the “Born in ‘87” Podcast. Steve Cohen has Mets fans as excited as we can ever remember. Part of that excitement also stems from the fact that the Wilpon’s no longer own the team. To partake in this excitement, we wanted to hear from the fans, so we brought on five diehard Mets fans to share one of their terrible Wilpon memories and then express why they are so excited for the Steve Cohen era. Justin and Adam share their memories at the top (0:10), then Travis Williams (18:30), Pat Milano (32:30), Alex Bigelisen (44:44), Ross Green (55:45) and Andrew Martini (1:11:12) all come on to kick dirt on the Wilpon’s one final time and share in the Steve Cohen excitement. We had a blast talking with Mets Nation, and if you are a Mets fan this is a must listen. Enjoy!

On today’s pod we are joined by Harrison Glaser of Take Flight Media. In this episode we take Harrison into the Tortured Fan Corner and then talk at length about the current state of the Jets. We play out the draft scenarios for the Jets at both the # 1 and # 2 pick by breaking down Sam Darnold, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. We also share our mutual love for Joe Douglas and give reasons to be optimistic about the future of the franchise.

What are the Crap Rankings? From time to time, we will rank the crappy teams we root for and decide in order, how close the Mets, Jets and Knicks, at that given moment, are to a championship, and that is we do on today's pod. At the end of the pod, despite the Jets having a Week 10 Bye, we make our Week 10 NFL Picks (9:38).
This is a quick pod today, because this week we went on "The End of The Bench Show", where we have an in-depth discussion about the Mets and what we think they are going to do this offseason. Remember earlier in 2020 when Curb Your Enthusiasm had a new season and there was an episode featuring the Jets? We thought everyone could use a few laughs this week, so we have decided to release our review of that Curb Your Enthusiasm episode, which was titled "The Ugly Section." In the past we have alluded to the period before we launched when we were doing trial pods, and this past March when Larry David released his episode "The Ugly Section (Season 10, Episode 7)" we felt compelled to review it. We have been thinking about releasing this pod for the listeners and thought that this was the perfect week to do it. Enjoy our review of the episode (4:24) and at the end of the pod we run through our Week 9 NFL Picks (51:25). We had a ton of fun recording this and are excited for you to listen!
Next week we will be talking about the Mets on Part 2 of our Crossover Podcast Series with "The End of the Bench Show." This podcast will appear exclusively on their feed, so please listen to the "End of the Bench Show" podcast next week to hear us talk some Mets baseball.

On today's pod we are doing our first ever crossover podcast with "The End of the Bench Show." Scott Castellano and Pat Milano from "The End of the Bench Show" have joined us for Part 1 of our 2-Part Crossover Pod Series. We had a blast recording with these guys and we think you'll really enjoy this one. We talk all thing Jets (11:30), from Sam Darnold, Adam Gase, Joe Douglas, to whether or not the butt fumble was the worst Jets moment in our lifetimes. We also welcome back Le'Veon Bell as he will take on the Jets this week as a part of his new team the Kansas City Chiefs, we have some fun with this one, as we make up props debating just how badly Bell will run over the Jets on Sunday (57:21). Before this though, since this is the pod on the "Born in 87" feed, Scott and Pat come into the "Tortured Fan Corner (4:08)", where they share a painful Jets (and Mets) memory. At the end of the pod we make our Week 8 NFL Picks (1:04:53).
In the near future we will record Part 2 of our Crossover Series with "The End of the Bench Show", and that podcast will appear exclusively on the "End of the Bench Show" podcast feed. The Jets are so bad the biggest point of discussion in Jets Talk lately hasn't been, "Will they get the #1 pick in the 2021 Draft?", it has been, "Are the Jets so bad that Trevor Lawrence will return to Clemson next year to avoid playing with the Jets?" On today's pod we have brought on Dan Cesternino to discuss why we think this is ridiculous, and why Trevor Lawrence is absolutely leaving Clemson and turning pro, even if the Jets pick first (7:31). In addition to talking Lawrence, Dan shares his frustrations on the current state of the Jets (30:58). Before getting into all this though, we bring Dan into the Tortured Fan Corner, where Dan shares a painful Jets memory (2:39). At the end of the pod, we make our Week 7 NFL Picks (47:07).

The NFL Trade Deadline is approaching so we brought in John Hill to discuss the possibility of not just trading Sam Darnold, but trading Sam Darnold right now (17:37)! After discussing what we think the Jets could get in a trade for Darnold, and who they might be able to trade him to, we ponder the trade value for many other members of the 2020 Jets (33:13). However, before assessing the trade value of all the players on the Jets, we break down Mark Sanchez's performance on the Masked Singer (1:38), and bring John Hill into the Tortured Fan Corner to share a painful, but hilarious Jets memory (4:30).
We would like to announce that in the near future, we will be doing our first ever crossover pod with "The End of the Bench Show." We're big fans of their podcast and you can listen to their pod, wherever you get your podcasts. Follow them on Instagram @the_endofthebench

We recorded this podcast on Tuesday evening, October 13th. This is significant because right after talking about what we thought the Jets could get in a trade for Le'Veon Bell (43:44), as we were recording, we experienced a moment of podcast magic and found out about Bell being cut while we were recording the podcast (47:20)! In addition to getting to hear our very raw reactions to Bell being cut, we spend the majority of the podcast having the Great Joe Douglas debate with Friend of the Pod, Lance Kravitz. Lance is an extremely critical Jets fan, and on this pod he totally let's loose, starts ripping the Jets and does not stop. Lance comes into the Tortured Fan Corner (2:11), and then gives his reasons, contrary to ours, about why he thinks Joe Douglas has done a lousy job as Jets GM (10:56). At the end of the pod we make our Week 6 NFL Picks (50:15). We had a lot of fun recording this pod and we really think you are going to enjoy it!

Joe Flacco is going to start for the Jets in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals and we discuss why nothing good can come out of Joe Flacco playing Quarterback for the New York Jets in 2020 (0:49). After spending way too much time talking about Joe Flacco, we discuss everything else Jets (12:40) from why Adam Gase needs to be fired sooner than later, and lots of big picture things that Joe Douglas needs to take into account. At the end of the pod we make our Week 5 NFL picks (42:56).

Two months ago we recorded an episode "What was the Worst Knicks Trade of the 21st Century," and when we recorded that podcast we declared the Kristaps Porzingis trade to be the worst. However, as we have watched the NBA Playoffs unfold, it got us thinking that this subject needed to be revisited. Between Kristaps Porzingis getting hurt during the Dallas Mavericks first round series, and more importantly, Jamal Murray (who the Denver Nuggets drafted in 2016 with one of the draft picks they acquired in the 2011 Melo deal) emerging as a legitimate NBA Superstar, we felt that this subject was worthy of a new podcast. Friend of the Pod, Chris Meany joins us on this episode (2:10), as he jumps into the "Tortured Fan Corner (6:53)", and then helps us decide if the Kristaps Porzingis deal is still the Worst Knicks Trade of the 21st Century (20:03).

On last week's podcast we discussed the idea that if the Jets end up with the first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, they should trade that pick to acquire a boatload of draft capital. Friend of the Pod, Travis Williams (@Trav8788) went on Twitter and vehemently disagreed with our take, saying that the Jets should absolutely take Trevor Lawrence if they land the #1 pick. Therefore, this week we brought Travis on the pod to share his thoughts on Trevor Lawrence (24:30). As an avid college football fan, Travis educates us on what makes Trevor Lawrence so special and why he is going to be great in the NFL. He even gives us some thoughts on the #2 ranked QB in the 2021 NFL Draft, Ohio State QB, Justin Fields. However, before we get into the Trevor Lawrence discussion, Travis shares a painful Jets memory in the "Tortured Fan Corner (1:52)", and on the eve of a Thursday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos, we discuss the current state of the Jets and the potential firing of Adam Gase (11:22). At the end of the pod we make our Week 4 picks (39:00).

The Jets are 0-2 and have looked like the worst team in football through two weeks. That being said, we do think there are still some positives that can be taken away from these first two weeks and at the top of the pod, we break them down as we review the Jets week 2 loss to the 49ers (0:07). Then we get into the tanking discussion. The Jets are clearly tanking, however we think it may not be for Trevor Lawrence (16:09). We take a pretty in-depth look on what the Jets may do with the #1 overall pick if they do in fact end up with the worst record in the NFL this season. At the end of the pod, we make our Week 3 picks (46:57).

If you root for the Mets and have not been the biggest Brodie Van Wagenen fan, this episode is a must listen. On today's episode we break down every transaction Brodie Van Wagenen has made since he was hired as the Mets General Manager in October 2018 and rate it on a scale of 1-100 (9:35), SPOILER ALERT: Most of the grades are not very good. The breakdown of Brodie encompasses the majority of this pod, and if that is all you want to listen to skip up to 9:35, however with the huge news breaking earlier this week that Steve Cohen will be buying the Mets, we wanted to record an intro celebrating the Wilpon's sale of the franchise to Steve Cohen, and briefly discuss some of our expectations for Steve Cohen as the new owner of the New York Mets (0:01).

The Jets kicked off their 2020 season this past Sunday against the Buffalo Bills and Friend of the Pod, James Arnone has joined Justin and Adam to share in the frustration and talk all about it. Before we get into the 2020 team, James joins us in the "Tortured Fan Corner (1:42)" to share one of his most painful Jets memories, and then we talk all about the Week 1 debacle against the Bills and why Adam Gase should already get fired (8:20). We also make our Week 2 picks (40:07).

A new season of Jets Football is upon us. With their season opener in Buffalo less than 48 hours away, we discuss three things we are excited to see from the Jets this season (3:39), and three things we are not excited about for the Jets upcoming season (16:58). Then, we will pick this week's Jets game (and a few other games too) against the spread (25:54). This is going to be a strange football season and hopefully the Jets can surprise us all. The Jets kick off their 2020 season in just one week and Friend of the Pod (and one of our best real life friends) Tom Leninger has joined Justin and Adam to talk Jets football (2:56). On today's pod we unveil our new segment, "Tortured Fan Corner (5:23)" where Tom, comes on to talk about one of his most painful Jets memories. Then, we go through the Jets 2020 schedule, game by game and decide which games they're gonna win and which games they're gonna lose (21:17). What will the Jets 2020 record be? Listen and find out.

We recorded the first 12 minutes of this podcast right after the Mets lost the 2nd game of the Sunday, August 30th doubleheader to the Yankees, and for 12 minutes you can hear our raw frustration and disappointment. However, prior to the brutal events of Sunday's doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Yankees, on Sunday morning we recorded and were prepared to post a positive podcast, as it felt like the Mets were poised for a late season run, we wanted to laud Dom Smith, and discuss Stevie Cohen's potential purchase of the New York Metropolitans. While a lot of that positivity may now seem out of place, the big picture stuff we talked about still feels relevant, and we decided to post that podcast (12:00) after our raw rant to open the pod. If you want to sulk with some fellow Mets fans, listen to the first 12 minutes, and if you want to feel a little positive about the 2021 season, listen to the rest.

Should you draft any Jets on your Fantasy Football team? As Jets fans we know the answer to that is probably no, but since we are Jets fans, we are going to break down all the key Jets players and look at their Fantasy value for the 2020 season. We take an in-depth look at Sam Darnold (4:22), Le'Veon Bell (16:59), Jamison Crowder (22:46), Denzel Mims (25:58), Breshad Perriman (30:36), Chris Herndon (32:48), and a few others.

This is a very different pod than normal, we had no plan, no outline, we just wanted to give you our raw emotions as we watched the NBA Draft Lottery in real time. SPOILER ALERT: Despite the 6th worst record in the NBA, the Knicks landed the 8th pick and we are not happy. Enjoy!

The title of this pod says it all. David Peterson is hurt and it feels like the Mets are past the point of no return. The Mets have no starting pitching, the Yankees are looming, and despite a victory over the Marlins on this Tuesday evening, all is far from right in Metsland and we needed to vent.
What else could go wrong for Mets fans? They could also root for the Knicks. After a brief Knicks rant (1:11), we talk Mets the rest of the pod (2:39). As said in the classic movie My Cousin Vinny, "Is there any more s*** we can pile on? Is it possible? (3:20)", we ask, is there anything else that can go wrong for the Mets this year, is it possible? From Stroman, to McNeil, to DeGrom, to Hamilton, to Ramos, to Wheeler, we discuss everything that has been going wrong for the Mets. There is a lot of ranting about the Mets struggles thus far this year, so vent along with us on today's edition of the "Born in '87" podcast.

On this episode of the pod we are talking about all three of the teams we root for, the Knicks (3:51), Mets (14:02) and Jets (23:30), as we select our Flash in the Pan All Stars. We have selected six of our favorite players of all time (two from each team), but the catch is that these six guys time with our teams came and went way too fast. These guys may have been a "Flash in the Pan", but we still hold a candle for these guys and remember them fondly.

In today's episode, we try to figure out the worst Knicks trade of the 21st century. To figure this out, we put six all time awful Knicks trades through the Gauntlet. This podcast was originally recorded on Sunday morning, August 2nd, and on the pod we recapped everything from the first 9 games of the 2020 Mets season. However, after an incredibly eventful Sunday with Yoenis Cesedes opting out of the rest of the season, and on the field the Mets pulling off the incredible feat of going 1-15 with runners in scoring position, we felt as though we had to record a new Intro to address these Sunday afternoon events. The new Intro as the the top of the episode (0:00). if you want to skip ahead to our originally recorded pod (10:49), we discuss the lineup and their inability to hit with runners in scoring position (15:25), Edwin Diaz and the Bullpen (19:54), Luis Rojas' managing (29:28), and Yoenis Cespedes (37:54). Since the "Born in '87" podcast covers the Mets, Jets and Knicks, we also briefly discuss C.J. Mosley's decision to opt out of the 2020 NFL season (47:00).
