In this episode I talk with Lauren Tabbinor, who graduated from our BA (Hons) Criminology in 2014. Since then she has worked mostly in the education sector, including a role with the Princeâs Trust and as Student Ambassador Co-ordinator at ARU. In this episode I talk with Gabi Kaziukonyte, who graduated from our BA (Hons) Film and Television Production in 2020 and now works as Senior VFX Co-ordinator with Cambridge-based visual effects studio Vine FX. In this episode I talk with Josh Newman, Senior Lecturer in Film Production at ARU.
Josh is a filmmaker with 25 years of industry experience in TV, film, visitor attractions and online marketing, and a broad interest in using video storytelling for education, communication and social justice. Among other things, we talk about how the very first film he worked on after graduating not only took him to the Sundance Festival but also saw him liaising with George Lucasâ Skywalker Sound division; the recent developments and moral dangers in documentary film making; and the often overlooked benefits of ADHD when working on urgent projects.

Agata graduated from our degree in 2022, and now works as a Technical Operator at BBC News in London, mostly mixing sound for live programs and bulletins. In this second of two MA Therapies placement specials, I talk with MA Music Therapy student Caterina Dellabonna about her placement with Hollanden Park Hospital, alongside her placement supervisor Ana Pessoa, lead music therapist at Hollanden Park and also a graduate of our MA.
We discuss the support Caterina received from ARU and Hollanden Park, how her placement inspired her major project on patients unable to interact musically, and how placement students can often bring surprising new ideas to organisations.

In this special MA therapies placement episode of the ARU Spotlight podcast, I talk with MA Dramatherapy alumnus Madelaine Cameron and Rebecca Wilson, who mentored Madelaine during her placement at London Disability Network.
After graduating, Madelaine began work as a registered dramatherapist, and continued providing dramatherapy support to Rebeccaâs clients. We talk about the support Madelaine received before and during the placement from her course lecturers and LDN staff; the benefits of placements for both students and employers; and the positive impact Madelaineâs dramatherapy sessions had for Rebeccaâs clients.

In this episode, I talk with Professor of Social and Cultural History Lucy Bland. Lucy teaches on our BA and MA History degrees, and is also Course Leader for the MA. She is currently researching race relations in the 1930s, and in 2020 was awarded the Social History Societyâs Book of the Year prize for her publication Britainâs Brown Babies: The Stories of Children born to Black GIs and White Women in the Second World War. She also picked up a Museums Association award for the bookâs accompanying online exhibition.

We talk about how the comedy show Derry Girls got her interested in Irish politics, the work experience she gained throughout the course that helped prepare her for the role, and how university helped her not only come to terms with her hearing impairment, but also use it as inspiration for her final dissertation.

In this episode I talk with Childrenâs book author and illustrator Kristin Roskifte. Kristin graduated from ARUâs BA (Hons) Illustration course in 1998, and has since gone on to publish eight childrenâs books, as well as setting up publishing house Magikon with her husband. Her latest book Everybody Counts has been translated into 40 languages and in 2019 it won the Nordic Council Children and Young Peopleâs Literature Prize.

This interview was recorded in May 2021, shortly before Connie graduated, and we talk a lot about her major project, in which she designed and produced a magazine to publicise small businesses in her home nation, and also how the supportive atmosphere of the course helped build her confidence as well as her skills.
