So, what are the elements of Christmas? There's many, but we will be looking at just four during this series: The Star, The Tree, The Gift and The Family. All important parts of what we think of around Christmas time. But as Christians, shouldn't those elements mean more then something we just do once a year? After all - it is called "Christ-mas" (the celebration of Christ).
As a human being we are all driven by our appetites; whether physical, spiritual or emotional. As we get older we learn how to discipline those appetites. But as a Christian we need to call those appetites into check on a regular basis. John Piper said - "If you don't feel strong desires for the manifestation of the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It is because you have nibbled so long at the table of the world. Your soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great."
In the history of the Christian church, the tendency has been to avoid being identified with the sufferings of Jesus Christ. People have sought to carry out God’s orders through a shortcut of their own. God’s way is always the way of suffering— the way of the “long road home.” Luke 9:23 "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross DAILY, and follow me."
Listen as Pastor Neal shares his testimony and the future plans for Cornerstone Assembly of God.
The ministry in our day has taken on more of a vocational meaning as we call Pastors "ministers" to full-time service. Pastors do spend their lives in the ministry, they do minister to others, and they can rightly be designated as ministers, but Pastors are not the only ones who are to be involved in ministry. Ephesians 4 separates the responsibility of ministry - the Pastor is to "equip" the body and the body is to "do the work of the ministry".
Romans 12:2 - "let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think." A Godly Self-Image, must have God in it.
Listen as Youth Pastor Denny describes the power revealed when Christians begin to focus on what Heaven can bring rather than on what Hell is doing.
Living out your purpose is the only way to find meaning in everything you do in life. So, "What's Your Purpose?"
For us it's all about the Promise, but for God it's all about the Process. The process builds within us what will sustain us; the promise rewards us for our faithfulness through the process. The promise, as amazing as it is, is not as important as the process getting there.
Listen as Pastor Neal takes us through this awesome message, encouraging us to be imitators of God.
Pastor Brenda elaborates on the priority of living life as a Christian should...Family First.
To be a Mighty Warrior does not mean you are free of wounds - as a matter of fact, most people would prefer to follow a Leader who looks like he has a few battle wounds, then those who don't look like they've even gotten a little dirty. Who would you follow? PeeWee Herman or Mel Gibson? Urkel or Gerard Butler? In 2 Corinthians 12 we are encouraged by Paul... "10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Do what you know to do. Whatever God has told you to do must be done EXACTLY as He's told you to do it and in His TIMING! Anything else, anything less than this is SIN.
Have you been giving to God your first fruits, your best or out of what's left. According to Malachi 3, there are only two choices regarding our Tithe - Bring it or Steal it. You choose to live under a Blessing or under a Curse. (For more information on living a "Blessed Life" with your finances, listen to podcasts by Robert Morris at Gateway Church.)
Through this series we will focus on the three scenes of Scrooge's life that led him to his transformation....His Past, Present and Future. In his Preface, Dickens wrote that he intended his story to "haunt" us "pleasantly." He did not want his tale to mire us in guilt and helplessness but to lift us up in a spirit of justice and joy. The good news is that with God we too have the opportunity to a transformed life like the enlightened Scrooge; and then through Christ we can "know how to keep Christmas well" through all our days.

You search scripture, seek anyone and everyone's advice...yet in three small verses God's entire will for your life is summed up - Rejoice, Pray and Give Thanks (1 Thess 5:16-18).
Pastor Brenda exposes this last excuse: "I Can't Ask God for That!" Everywhere we look, every place we go, every conversation we hear is filled with excuses....They are there when we need them and we reach for them far too often. Yet none of us wants to admit that our excuses are masking our laziness, self-doubt and just giving up way too easy. Our excuses are driving us to failure because they let us take the easy way out.
This week Pastor Brenda shares how to erase the excuse "I Can't Commit to One More Thing!"
Everywhere we look, every place we go, every conversation we hear is filled with excuses....They are there when we need them and we reach for them far too often. Everywhere we look, every place we go, every conversation we hear is filled with excuses....They are there when we need them and we reach for them far too often. Let's admit it, none of us wants to hear that our excuses are explaining away laziness, self-doubt and just giving up way too easy. Our excuses drive us to failure because they let us take the easy way out. Today we dive into the excuse "I Can't Give More!"
We hate to be reminded that our excuses are explaining away laziness, failure, giving up and self-doubt. They are there when we need them and we reach for them far too often. Our excuses drive us to failure because they let us take the easy way out. This series Main Point: The best defense against excuses is an offensive line of Why's. When we develop solid answers to some "Why" questions it will be the greatest defense to erasing our excuses!

Listen as MAG Youth Director, James Hackworth, shares this last week on the battle for our Soul - Temperance brings Peace. We must have self control in all our emotions, not letting our emotions control us. BUT, it's easy to say what we need to do, it's much harder to do...we need to be brave, strong and courageous.
Today's Main Point: When there's no doubt, there's no stopping us; but where there's doubt, God can't go. The mind is where doubt enters and begins to eat away at the trust built in your heart. Once we lose trust there's no other option but fending for ourselves; so we push God aside and do things on our own.
Today's Main Point: My heart must be completely God's or my battles will be completely mine. It's in our hearts that our actions are determined. The Battle for our Heart will determine our ability to walk as God has commanded us.
When we go through troubling times the enemy will attack us in these three areas of our lives....heart, mind & soul. Once he has taken ground on these three fronts - he has taken control. Week 1 we focus on preparing for the battle that will come.
Today's Main Point: Compromise creates big buts that get in the way of serving God wholeheartedly.
For the Christian, our life is a journey...but I want to challenge you today to make your journey, an adventure!
All scars tell a story. Stories of wounds suffered. Some of them outside, some deep within our very souls. Ours scars tell of our life story. But there are scars that tell of a very different story, one that begins and ends with Love, Healing and Restoration.

You can be the wisest Bible Scholar in the world, but what good will it do the lost drug addict on the street? You have to GO! Today's Main Point: It's not how much you know, but that you go and show ... that makes healthy disciples.
Galatians 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Today's Point: We cannot go on to lead others into a freedom we are not living in.
