Born in 1959, Herman Mashaba’s academic dream was shattered in 1980 in his second year of a B.A. at the University of The North when the University was shut down due to political unrests. When the University was reopened after two months, he decided not to go back. Strong promises to send him out of the country for military training. In late 1980, Mashaba found himself a clerical job with Spar Pretoria where he worked for 7 months. He then worked 23 months for Motani Industries, which became his longest and last salaried job. During his spell at Motani, managed to buy a car, and two months later resigned and started his business career. Mashaba sold different products on a commission basis from the boot of his car for close to two years, ranging from insurance, fire detection systems, linen, crockery, dinner services, etc. His break came late 1983 when he was exposed and sold hair products on a commission basis for one of the companies in Johannesburg. It took him 19 months to make up his mind to start his own hair care manufacturing business. kaya fm

Dumisani Dlamini is a South African actor, composer and film producer best known for his role as Crocodile in the 1992 musical film Sarafina!, which he also played on Broadway in the theatrical production. After touring United States of America as part Sarafina cast Dumisani Dlamini decided to stay in the country and stayed for 15 years before going back to South Africa after getting homesick. Dumisani Dlamini has also appeared on Drum, Isindiso and Isibaya (Mbodla). Dlamini also playing a starring role on Yizo Yizo as Chester. Dumisani Dlamini was married to a Jewish American woman Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer whom she stayed with for 15 years in United States after Sarafina tour. Dumisani Dlamini had two children with Deborah Sawyer one of the famous musician Doja Cat whose real name is Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini kaya fm

Born and raised in Kwazulu-Natal, Ntuzuma (Location). He realized at a very young age that he had been bitten by the music bug and not only did he want to share his God given talent with others, but he also wanted to create a long lasting legacy for artists. After COMPLETING HIGH School, he went on to study for a Diploma in LIGHT Music at the then Natal Technikon alongside long-time friend Nkosinathi Maphumulo now known as ‘Dj Black Coffee’. This is where they met up with ‘Demor’ Sikhosana and the trio formed the popular group ‘Shana’ in 1997 with Shota taking on the Lead Vocalist role. Their talent went on to being recognized by the legendary late Busi Mhlongo. She introduced them to her London based record company Melt 2000. Little did they know, this is where they would get their first record deal and release their debut album Shende Lami. In their quest to create major waves in the music industry, Shota together with the rest of Shana moved to Johannesburg, where they met the likes of renowned producer Dj Christos, and produced the hit single featuring the late Lebo Mathosa ‘Benga’. Shana subsequently went on to release a number of hit songs that have since heated up dance floors across the world Ung’phulinhliziyo, Uyangichomela, Out and the list goes on. kaya fm

He was born on 6th February 1986, which makes Thomas Gumede age 33 going on 34. He was born in KwaZulu-Natal and relocated to Johannesburg with his family at the age of 13. As of now, there is very limited information available regarding his family and early life, i.e. parents, siblings, and childhood. KAYA FM
what did you do as a kid or even as an adult that you think you should be arrested for. KAYA FM
In the entertainment industry for 43 years, she embodies every role so much that being a multiple award-winning actress does not come as a surprise.
Thembi lights up when she talks about her childhood. This is because it was filled with singing and dancing, the first introduction to her successful career. Although born in Newcastle in KwaZulu- Natal, she was raised in Soweto. She grew up in a big family as one of eight children. Her parents were in the taxi business, and she would regularly help them. “I used to count the money that the drivers made at the end of the day and give it to my father, Petros Nyandeni,” she recalls. A typical girl she grew up as, it was written in the stars even back then that she would be well known. Entertaining her family, friends and community was her passion after all.
BORN TO ENTERTAIN
As a child, Thembi fell in love with the arts and was driven by passion to work towards her dreams. It is through these characteristics that she is successful in her career, and has received numerous accolades. “My mother says that I was already an entertainer at the age of two. So, you could say that I’ve been an entertainer all my life,” she says. At school she was hard to miss because she was always participating in some play, both singing and dancing. But, she left school in Grade 11. “I was born during the apartheid era, and being black was hard. I remember how bored I often was in class because we were taught in Afrikaans. I did not enjoy my schooling years.” This was also exacerbated by the fact that teachers often scolded her for the type of music she and her friends listened to. Certain types of music were banned because the government believed them to be a conspiracy by the opposition. Because she is strong- willed, she also didn’t want to be told what to do. This, coupled with her aspirations of becoming a singer and dancer, pushed her to leave school. “I couldn’t take the rules and regulations anymore. All I wanted was to have a voice a

Makhanya will always be remembered for a great 11 years at Orlando Pirates and for scoring a winning goal against Kaizer Chiefs. The Dobsonville-born former star spent hung up his boots after the 2012/13 season while at Moroka Swallows, aged only 33. Blom Blom with Masoja Msiza
Actor, poet and musician. Born in Kwa-Thema. Masoja only met his father when he was 14 years old. The star says growing up in KwaThema, a township located in the east of Johannesburg, his mind was paralysed by everyday life experiences. He and his three siblings were born from three different men and none of them had a relationship with their fathers. The siblings were shared among relatives when their mother got sick. POETRY: Masoja began his career as a poet and later became a stage and television actor, musician and storyteller. He is the brains behind the Lentswe Poetry Project spots on SABC2 and has published two collections of poetry entitled The Voice of Hope and Avalon. He also wrote and performed promo poems for Ukhozi FM and for Bafana Bafana during the 2004 AFCON tournament in Tunisia. MUSIC: Masoja was also part of a church choir and says his album is a mix of all music genres and dramatic poetry. It took the artist nine months to compose and produce the album and he did most of the work all by himself. He worked with gospel artists Sgwili and Fikile Mlomo on the album. The activist believes that God gave him talent to change the world and says choosing to address social ills while entertaining wasn’t a difficult decision to make. TELEVISION: 2016 he landed his first starring role in television in the e.tv telenovela Ring of Lies, playing the role of Mandla then went on to play Bhodlimpi on Isibaya. He has appeared in numerous television series including Jozi Streets, Mtunzini.com, Scandal!, Isidingo, A Place Called Home, Sokhulu & Partners, Shreds and Dreams, Intersexions, Rhythm City, iNkaba, Zabalaza, Ya Lla and Mfolozi Street. Masoja currently plays Nkunzi on SABC 1 Telenovela Uzalo. He says he took a risk by joining the cast of Uzalo knowing his Zulu was more Joburg Zulu than "perfect Zulu." Masechaba Ndlovu (née Lekalake) is a Zambian-born South African actress, television producer and presenter best known for presenting such shows as Weekend Live, Into Africa, Afro Showbiz and eNews. She also hosted the SABC1 reality competition One Day Leader, in 2011 and again in 2013. In 2012 she hosted the SABC2 reality competition series Big Break Legacy and in 2014 she hosted the e.tv game show I Love South Africa. Having earned her media studies certificate in which she majored in journalism, video broadcasting and public relations, Masechaba finally got to carry out her formal skills and acquire further knowledge at Urban Brew Studios. While there, she became studio anchor and video journalist for Into Africa, a travel show on SABC Africa that she co-presented with Hlomla Dandala. The show took her across the continent to Ethiopia, Egypt, Uganda, Ghana, and Nigeria. She was also researcher, content-producer and scriptwriter for the show. She debuted on SABC screens as a supporting actress on the soapie Generations, before clinching a lead role in the e.tv soapie Backstage in 2003. Since then, Masechaba has presented numerous shows including That'I'Zak and Out of Box with Paul Viv. For two consecutive seasons she was a sports host on the wrestling show WWP. Later Masechaba traded in the lights of the ring for the glitz of the showbiz world, gracing red carpets and interviewing local and international stars on SABC1's music show Reliable Slamdown. On many occasions she was guest presenter on Live, SABC1's Friday night live music programme. On screen she’s known for her flamboyant and outspoken character Beauty on 1Magic’s The River, but in reality Galaletsang Koffman is cool, calm and collected. Galaletsang was born in Pretoria (Legae hospital) but grew up in Makapanstad in the North West. She has six brothers. She’s the first child on mom’s side and the middle on dad’s side. She says she started her acting career when she decided to take acting seriously and decided to go study the craft. So essentially, her acting career began because of a decision she made. She studied drama at Wits and completed her honours degree in live performance at AFDA and got her acting break on The Road where she played a character called Lefentse. Galaletsang was nominated for best actress in her graduation film called ”Lucky”where she played the role of Mmabatho. The project later premiered at Ster-Kenikor The actress said she wanted aspiring actors to know that the industry is not as glamorous as people think. Galaletsang warned that fame comes and goes. Dancer turned pastor who was named one of South Africa's Most Inspirational Women in 2011 Pushie Watson is originally from Liberia and started her career as a dancer and TV host but now she's changing lives as a pastor. Watson says that she left Liberia when she was 10 then went on to further her education in Kenya and Ghana, followed by a study related gap year in the Gambia before finally immigrating to South Africa. God has raised Pushie Watson from the days of presenting Jam Alley and music show Channel O from Glory to Glory. Her career evolved in more ways than one. Between 1997 and 2002: she was a television presenter on DSTV’s Channel O music station where she attended the Grammies and interviewed the likes of Janet Jackson, P. Diddy etc, exposing her to audiences all over Africa. She concurrently presented a show on SABC 3 called Health Wealth, which was a specialist, medical show enlightening the public about a myriad of health procedures. Following which, she was approached by SABC 1 to co- host the music variety show Jam Alley, which ultimately gave her the opportunity to connect with an even larger South African audience. She received Christ as her Lord and became a born again believer wayback in 1995 at Rhema Bible Church. She is currently serving in the womens ministry at Rhema Bible Church under Pastor Ray McCauley who is the founder and senior pastor of the church. After working many years on and off TV productions across Africa, in 2003 Pushie surrendered to the call of God to begin serving in ministry. Pushie enrolled for her Bible studies course in 2006 where she truely discovered her calling to ministry and found herself preaching at every opportunity she was presented with.
