This is from the book titled: Idea and Ideology. There are 11 chapters to the book, and this is the reading of the 6th chapter titled - Atman, Paramatman and Sadhana.

In this discourse, "Ātman, Paramātman and Sādhana" (1959), Baba explains the relationship between the individual self, Cosmic Consciousness, and the purpose of spiritual practice. He describes creation as a journey from subtle consciousness into matter and then back again toward its divine source. Human life represents a unique stage in this return journey because only human beings can consciously accelerate their spiritual evolution through sādhana. Baba also challenges the traditional doctrine of divine incarnations, arguing that spiritual greatness comes through gradual evolution rather than a miraculous descent of God into human form. The discourse concludes with the Tantric concept of Tāraka Brahma and emphasizes that the highest goal of spiritual life is complete surrender to the Supreme Consciousness through love and devotion.

Namaskar,

This is a reading of the book: Proutist Economics (a compilation)

PROUT’s economic system is built around one simple principle: increase the purchasing capacity of the common people. It guarantees everyone’s basic needs—food, housing, healthcare, education—while encouraging higher productivity through fair incentives, not forced equality. PROUT emphasizes cooperatives as the backbone of the economy to prevent exploitation, eliminate middlemen, and keep wealth local. It supports decentralized, region-based planning, so communities control their own development based on local resources and needs. Industry is balanced between public, cooperative, and private sectors, with full employment maintained through reduced working hours as technology advances. Trade, banking, and distribution of essentials are run through cooperatives, not profiteers. Overall, PROUT offers a humane, decentralized alternative to both capitalism and centralized socialism—focused on dignity, sustainability, and collective well-being.

This is from the book titled: Idea and Ideology. There are 11 chapters to the book, and this is the reading of the 5th chapter titled - Kosa.

Baba explains how consciousness expresses itself through layers of mind, from the crudest physical experience to the subtlest causal awareness. Baba describes five kośas—kámamaya, manomaya, atimánasa, vijiṋánamaya, and hirańmaya—which represent increasing levels of subtlety in how the mind interacts with the world. Our perceptions depend on the health and coordination of the senses, nerves, mind, and ego, and errors in any of these lead to distorted understanding. Through sádhaná, the unit mind gradually transcends the crude and subtle layers, realizing that its causal mind is not separate from the Cosmic Mind. Ultimately, this teaching shows that individual consciousness and Cosmic Consciousness are not different in essence—only in degree of expression.

The following link is a chart of the Kosas and Lokas:

This is from the book titled: Idea and Ideology. There are 11 chapters to the book, and this is the reading of the 4th chapter titled - Mind, Práńendriya and Vrtti.

Baba explains that the mind is made of three parts and comes from the same substance as the Cosmic Mind.
Práṇendriya is the vital energy system that controls the flow of perception — when it’s calm, we perceive clearly; when it’s restless, the mind becomes dull.
Vṛttis are the mind’s tendencies and emotions, and humans have 1,000 of them.
Through meditation and prāṇāyāma, we learn to quiet práṇa and master the vṛttis, moving toward higher consciousness and liberation.

Shiva: Both Severe and Tender

In this episode, we explore Baba’s profound discourse “Shiva – Both Severe and Tender,” which reveals how Shiva reshaped early human civilization. We look at how Shiva ended clan-based divisions, uplifted women, introduced marriage, and inspired unity across Aryan, non-Aryan, and Mongolian communities. We also discuss His revolutionary contributions to music, dance, and phonetics, and His creation of Shaeva Dharma — a universal, non-ritualistic spiritual path beyond all narrow sentiments. Above all, we reflect on Shiva’s unique blend of firmness in principle and deep tenderness in personal conduct, a combination that transformed society and continues to inspire humanity today.

Namaskar,

This is a reading of the book: Proutist Economics (a compilation)

Baba explains that society moves in cycles—laborers, warriors, intellectuals, and capitalists—each dominating in turn. When any group becomes exploitative, the cycle shifts through evolution or revolution.
Sadvipras, spiritually grounded moral leaders, guide this process and protect society.

Everyone must have minimum necessities, surplus wealth must be distributed by merit, and no one should hoard resources at the expense of others.

All physical, mental, and spiritual potentials—individual and collective—must be fully developed, balanced, and used for the welfare of all.

And finally, the method of utilization must change with time, place, and person. Progress must be continuous.

This is PROUT: a dynamic, moral, and progressive system for universal welfare.

**Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrti, the founder and preceptor of Ananda Marga, has said that human culture and civilization would not exist as we know them – perhaps would hardly exist at all – had it not been for Shiva. Shiva played a crucial role in propelling human society on a forward path in education, medicine, social code, music, dance, phonetics and, of course, intuitional science. And yet Shivaʼs stature is such that “Shiva can stand very well, shining in His own glory, quite apart from human culture and civilization.”

In the human civilization that Shiva founded, Shivaʼs name lives on. It permeates the waking hours, from earliest infancy up until the final curtain, of nearly a fourth of the earthʼs human population. Yet the actual life of this great personality has long been lost to view, hidden under layer upon layer of myth. Many, for example, worship Shiva as a god, but fail to recognize Shiva as an historical person.

The author of Namah Shiváya Shántáya (“Salutations to Shiva the Tranquil”) removes the veils of seven thousand years of history, to reveal Shiva the great spiritualist, Shiva the humanitarian, Shiva the pioneer of arts and science.

He felt great compassion for those afflicted people and, making them sit beside Him, advised them how to solve their physical, psychic and spiritual problems. Shiva used to live on a hill, and all kinds of people from far and near would flock to Him. He would call them with… His viśáńa, His long horn…

Of the twenty discourses that constitute Namah Shiváya Shántáya, the first eight were given by the author in Calcutta as pravacans, or speeches (mostly at weekly intervals), in April and May, 1982. These eight were recorded on tape. The series (sometimes referred to by the author as a work of “Shivology”) then resumed in Patna in the form of dictations given throughout June and July. The concluding dictation was given in Kashi, adjoining Benares, on August 13. All the speeches and dictations were given in Bengali.

The first editions of Namah Shiváya Shántáya, both in Bengali and in English, came out in 1982. The English Second Edition, in 1985, was a reprint of the English First Edition. In 1993, Discourse 1 and parts of Discourses 2, 4 and 5-8 were retranslated, closely following the 1982 translation, by Ácárya Vijayánanda Avadhúta and Ácárya Acyutánanda Avadhúta, for the English book Discourses on Tantra Volume One. In a similar way, the present Third Edition closely follows the 1982 or, where applicable, the 1993 translation. (Discourse 15 appears just as in the 1982 translation, and Discourse 1 just as in the 1993 translation.)**

Yama and Niyama
Yama
(i) Ahim’sa’: Not to inflict pain or hurt on anybody by thought, word or action, is Ahim’sa’.

(ii) Satya: The benevolent use of mind and words is Satya.

(iii) Asteya: To renounce the desire to acquire or retain the wealth of others is Asteya. Asteya means ” non-stealing.”

(iv) Brahmacarya: To keep the mind always absorbed in Brahma is Brahmacarya.

(v) Aparigraha: To renounce everything excepting the necessities for the maintenance of the body is known as Aparigraha.

Niyama
(i) Shaoca is of two kinds — purity of the body and of the mind. The methods for mental purity are kindliness towards all creatures, charity, working for the welfare of others and being dutiful.

(ii) Santos’a Contentment with things received unasked-for is santos’a. It is essential to try to be cheerful always.

(iii) Tapah: To undergo physical hardship to attain the objective is known as Tapah. Upava’sa (fasting), serving the guru (preceptor), serving father and mother, and the four types of yajina, namely. pitr yajina, nr yajina, bhu’ta yajina and adhya’tma yajina (service to ancestors, to humanity, to lower beings and to Consciousness), are the other limbs of tapah. For students, study is the main tapah.

(iv) Sva’dhya’ya: The study, with proper understanding, of scriptures and philosophical books is sva’dhya’ya. The philosophical books and scriptures of Ananda Marga are A’nanda Su’tram and Subha’s’ita Sam’graha (all parts), respectively. Sva’dhya’ya is also done by attending dharmacakra (group meditation) regularly and having satsaunga (spiritual company), but this kind of sva’dhya’ya is intended only for those who are not capable of studying in the above manner.

(v) Iishvara pran’idha’na: This is to have firm faith in Iishvara (the Cosmic Controller) in pleasure and pain, prosperity and adversity, and to think of oneself as the instrument, and not the wielder of the instrument, in all the affairs of life.
