Delivering our babies at home is not a very common choice anymore. Many women don't even count it as an option -- why not?

To celebrate Baby G's first birthday (!!), I recount his birth story with our midwife! It was a long day and not what any of us expected, but we got our sweet baby boy out of the deal, so it was alllll worth it. Sheila and I talk some real talk about what actually happens in home births...the good and the not as great. (I also got some opinions from my husband, sister, and mom who were there.) It's my goal for this episode to normalize home deliveries, to let all women know that it is at least an option if it is something they would like to explore. So leave all your preconceived notions about home births at the front door and join us for our celebratory walk down memory lane! Happy Birthday Baby George!

In this episode, Dr. Sara Bollenbach and I recap this year's BirthFit Summit, where the overlying theme was all things postpartum. We discuss how things could be much improved in women's health if the postpartum period in America was honored the way it is in many other countries. We also discuss what women can be doing now to take control and enhance their healing in the precious time after having a child.

Anemia is a very common medical diagnosis, though there isn't a lot of hype over it. What is an anemia? But more importantly...why does a person become anemic? On today's episode, I speak with a professor from my Chiropractic school days, Dr. Tobi Jeurink. (If I'm honest, I also fangirl a bit too...you'll see why, she's amazing.) We discuss the how and why, how to address an anemia, and talk a little bit about pregnancy-specific implications. I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Back pain, brain fog, fungal nails, achey joints, IBS...all before 30. Doctor George (my colleague and handsome husband) has been on quite the journey through his life to uncover the reasons behind what has ailed him since he was a 10 year old with low back pain. We discuss his journey and what he found worked for him. The biggest difference between his journey and the journey of so many others who suffer is...how he chose to address the underlying causes of his dis-ease.

This episode I got my husband, business partner, and professional colleague Dr. George Stanton to do an episode with me. So many times we hear our patients say their bowel movements are "normal", only to find out they are going only once or twice a week. People! That's not normal! Join us as we discuss why we poop, how often we should, and the importance daily defecation.

Today we discuss the first chiropractic adjustment in an infant's life. Dr. Ian Shtulman is a fellow Chiropractor with a passion for pediatrics. In this episode he describes the safety, physiology, and importance of chiropractic care for this special population, in a way that many of us chiropractors believe, but few are eloquent enough to say. Please share with new or expecting parents!

We have some follow up information from Dr. Scott Ferguson on Episode 3, when we discussed dietary nitrates. A listener asked "Do alcoholic beverages disrupt the nitric oxide pathway?", I asked how much we would need to eat to see effects, and Dr. Ferguson sent additional information on nitrates/nitrites found in cured meats like bacon, and why we don't actually need to shy away from these products like we once thought.

For our first episode, I sat down with statistician and strategic analyst Shannon Dick to discuss how to determine if the information we are being exposed to is quality -- or if we should skip the "share" button. In times like these where information is abundant and readily available, there are reliable sources to get it from, and you may guess that social media posts requires extra steps to vet these articles.
