Rediscovered this song from my first album "Turbine Time" while doing archival work with my back catalog. Remastered it, as the vintage data wasn't up to contemporary audio standards.

This was created with my live midi-based techno rig, a few years before the laptop era and before the 'dawless' term came into use. I'm fairly certain this was tracked at the studio of Scrappi DuChamp, as it features the sound of my Ensoniq ESQ-1 synthesizer and I had sold it to him years prior.

I can't remember all of the exact instruments. Breakbeat drum loops are coming off of my Emu Emax sampler. Synth lines are coming from the ESQ-1, also I believe a rack mount Kawai K4, and some other units I can't remember the names of. The main kick drum is from an Alesis SR16 which was my main clock; I used two of those drum machines side by side in this era, one as my main kick drum and the other to sequence the Emax. MIDI sequencing was on an Alesis MMT-8.

Listening to it now, I was really into breakbeat techno at the time. This does sound like what I would include in my live sets during that era, as it's for the most part coming from my live rig, except for the ESQ-1, which I stopped taking to gigs circa 1992. I'm also noticing the 80s musical influences, I can hear my fascination with Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police. To my ears now, there's lots of melody going on; I remember being criticized by other musicians at the time for not being melodic enough with my music and that the future would be trending more melodic and less noisy.

I'm in this band in Las Vegas called "DJ Dad Shirt." We are having a remix contest for "Feel the NIte", the opening song on our album "Wait to Cross Fourth Street." I created a test entry, here it is.

Very keen on producing this 2019 remix in a 2009 style, so I powered up my 2009 laptop and edited and mastered the remix with vintage software. Has the exact sound I would have wanted for my DJ gigs a decade ago.

An improvised live recording with new loops on a spacey theme.

Recorded from balanced XLR stereo direct into a ZOOM Handy Q8, quite literally in my bedroom.

DAWless jamming, no computers used in the live performance or live recording of this work.

An extemporaneous performance of the classic cowboy tune made famous by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. This was done at mic check for my appearance on the WOKE AF podcast, and wound up being the intro to a wide ranging interview focused primarily on the release of my Sci-Fi novel "D". It was funny, Johnny had a couple guitars sitting there in the studio, I picked one up and started playing as he was setting up. You can hear him punch the channels on the mixer a few bars into the song, this recording starts off on the wrong mic. It was soundcheck after all.
