January 2023###### Intention: I find fulfillment and peace as I learn more about my spiritual self this year.

Numerology: January is an 8-Month in a 7-Year: Ask for Abundance###### January is a preview for October (another 8-month), and 2024 (an 8-Year). The 8 helps us to take a chance on ourselves in new territory of a 7-year: liberating self-study. You might notice feeling “all in” in whatever you’re doing. Watch out for high highs and low lows—think of the roller coaster feeling by placing the 8 sideways into its infinity shape. What goes down … must come up.

Astrology###### Peak of Quadrantids Meteor Shower Jan 3-4, 2023

The Sun moves from Capricorn to Aquarius on the 20th this month, and transits through these gates in human design: 38 (the fighter), 54 (ambition), 61 (inner truth and mystery), 60 (limitation and acceptance), 41 (contraction), and 19 (wanting).
The Full Moon is January 6th in 16° Cancer – Clearing space. Emotional-Illumination. Be aware of excess energy—tides are high, blood flow is higher, cycles are breaking, and karmic deadlines are approaching. February 2023###### Intention: I find fulfillment in self-development. I embrace abundance, changes, and organic progress over time at a comfortable pace.

Numerology: February is a 9-Month in a 7-Year: Integration###### Closure, completion, tying things up. What are you integrating? This month can bring a sense of urgency and overstimulation to “figure it out.” Do you want to slow down to allow for digestion and assimilation? This frequency was felt in December 2022, and repeats in November 2023.

Astrology###### The Sun moves from Aquarius to Pisces on the 18th, and transits through these gates: 19 (wanting), 13 (listener), 49 (revolution), 30 (feelings), 55 (Spirit), and 37 (friendship). The Full Moon is February 5th at 16° Leo. Remember to live: we’re here for a good time, not a long time. The Leo Full Moon helps us recognize achievements and recognize courage. Let go of stagefright, the fear of living your best life, and remove any blocks to enjoying your passions. Forgive yourself for times you’ve forgotten to play. This is the Moon of Self-Illumination. Be aware of excess energy—tides are high, blood flow is higher, cycles are breaking, and karmic deadlines are approaching. This can be a good time to find things/people, get a new understanding of hard to treat diagnoses, and present your work to shine in public. The New Moon is February 20th at 1-Pisces. Numerology: March is a 1-Month in a 7-Year: Focus Pocus###### Motivation. Clarity. Inner Vision. Drive and determination. New beginnings, new identity, new logos, and finding Universal Oneness. Watch out for having blinders on and alienating yourself. Challenge: High-Five yourself in the mirror every morning this month. This initiation frequency repeats in December.

Astrology###### The Sun moves from Pisces to Aries this month, and transits through these gates: 37 (friendship), 63 (details), 22 (grace), 36 (crisis), 25 (innocence), 17 (opinion), 21 (biting through).

The Full Moon is on February 5 at 16° Virgo: Health, gardens, data, ancestry, roots, and our lineage. What patron saint, tribal talisman, or spiritual connection do you have with your last name? It’s time to let go of analysis paralysis and find strength in getting organized. It’s about tidying up the little things. This is the Moon of Service-Illumination. Set intentions around cleaning house, heart, and mind. Be aware of excess energy—tides are high, blood flow is higher, cycles are breaking, and karmic deadlines are approaching. This can be a good time to find things/people, get a new understanding of hard to treat diagnoses, and present your work to shine in public.
The New Moon is March 21st at 0°Aries. Sabian Symbol: A woman rises out of the water, a seal rises and embraces her. Intention: When I choose to love and respect myself, everyone wins. Moon Family Story: A New 2 ½ year Cycle Begins. This phase signifies the illumination of a larger 27-month cycle over the course of four Moons:
**March 21 2023 New Moon 0-Aries: A new cycle

September 18, 2024 Full Moon Eclipse 25-Pisces: Pivot
June 18, 2025 Last Quarter Moon 27-Pisces: Mission Complete
Garden tip: Plant annual flowers and plants that bear fruit and vegetables above ground during the waxing of the Moon—the time from the New Moon to the Full Moon. Leaves and stems are growing as the moonlight increases each night.
Mercury journeys into Pisces through March 2-18, an optimal window for creative projects, art, choreography, cinema, yoga, meditation. Mercury then enters Aries through April 3: Learn something new about yourself.
Venus is in Aries through March 16: health, and worth. Venus enters Taurus March 16-April 10: Romance and Reliability. Slow sensuality and doing something practical for your physique (lifting weights to tone muscles, buying a new nightie, etc.). Be consistent and conservative with your finances, and have a steady, mature presence at work.
Mars is still in Gemini, then moves into Cancer March 25-May 20. Home security, passive aggressiveness, and fighting for the underdog are major themes. There can be crab-wisdom in retreating, and taking some alone time while Mars is in Cancer.
Best Days: March 2, 12, 15, 18, 28

Digital Astrology Calendar2023 workbook journalMarch is a significant month###### Heads up: This is a big month for the outer planets. Saturn moves into Pisces March 7th, 2023 through May 24, 2025, and then from August 31, 2025 until Feb 13, 2026. (Saturn) Discipline, rules, and strategies in (Pisces) psychic development, meditation, spirituality, space, film, and music. When Saturn was last in Pisces 30 years ago, the AIDS pandemic was one of the biggest killers of younger Americans, and pivotal class-action lawsuits were filed against cigarette companies.

Pluto transitions into Aquarius on March 23.
“This is a significant change in the patterns of our cultures/societies, and technologies. Pluto has been in Capricorn breaking down structures since 2008 and now enters Aquarius from 2023 to 2044. Futuristic Discoveries that shape the psyche of humanity will be a key theme for this period. The most recent transit of Pluto in Aquarius was in 1777 – 1797, marking history with the peak of the Enlightenment period in Russia, the French Revolution, Industrial Revolution, Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven—and Revolution in the United States (the U.S. Constitution was established in 1787, then the Bill of Rights in 1789). Clarity is the gift from the freedom of bondage of mind.

In life, we have a series of decisions—some mundane, some life altering. We’ve been conditioned to “think through” decisions, putting a lot of emphasis on the mind’s ability to sort through what’s in our best interest. But sometimes we hit a wall. The mind gets restless wondering what to do. A decision needs to be made—but how?

Confusion can indicate we need more information, information we need is not available yet, we’re avoiding something we perceive as difficult, we are having emotions that feel overwhelming or are making things unclear—or we just don’t know what to do. Have you heard the saying ‘unconditional love does not mean unconditional tolerance’? When the mind is struggling with something, chewing on it over and over—that’s a form of tolerating confusion.

Fighting something is a form of accepting (tolerating) it.

Acceptance of what is—leads to surrender, clarity, and then decision. There are many ways of making decisions. Fortunately you have a unique navigational system for your own decision-making process. That system is your Strategy and Authority, which can be found in your Human Design bodygraph (similar to your natal astrology chart). You can look yours up for free at mybodygraph.com. Once you find your Strategy and Authority, here is a helpful article to learn how to work with your inner decision-maker:

Tough Decisions

Have you ever had an emotional hangover? Sometimes we are faced with difficult decisions that make other people uncomfortable. When we are trying to avoid hurting others, it can interfere with our decisions—we override what we feel is best, for the sake of saving someone else from pain, or saving ourselves from the pain of their reaction. When faced with a tough decision, it’s important to do what’s most loving for you, while also communicating clearly to others. Here is some sample language: ‘If I’m honest with you and with myself, xyz is the decision I am making. Thank you for understanding.”

Simple Steps for Making Decisions

Step 1: Determine if you’re feeling emotional, or if you’re trying to make a decision. If you’re having feelings, it can be helpful to work through your feelings first, before trying to make any decisions. Sitting with the emotion, feeling it, releasing it (by crying, breathing, moving) and being aware of not attaching reasons, stories or narratives to it can allow it to clear, so the true situation can be seen with honest eyes.

Step 2: Consider what type of decision is being made and what tool might be useful support (see below). Are you asking the right questions?

Step 3: Follow your Strategy and Authority (find this in your Human Design Chart)

Step 4: Make Peace with Yourself. You were born wise, you know what to do, and you can’t make any mistakes.

If you’re really stressed out and stuck

It can be helpful for some of us to get it out of our head. Write the problem on paper with some potential solutions as part of the self-inquiry process, reach out to a friend (or a few) to run it by them, then go help someone else (volunteer your time/talent)—this gets us out of our head. Acting our way into clear thinking really works. We don’t have to keep trying to manage the decision. Just wait. Give yourself time for your own process. This strengthens trust in ourselves and honors our inner guidance.

Self-Inquiry Questions

There are questions you can ask that are particular to you, according to your design. These questions for what we call ‘open centers’ are:

Does it matter/ concern me at this moment? (Head)
Do I feel like I need to be certain about this? (Ajna)
Am I trying to attract attention? (Throat)
Am I fixated on finding love and direction (and therefore, my identity)? (G)
Am I trying to prove my worth/ value? (Heart/ Ego)
Do I know when enough is enough? (Sacral)
Am I in a hurry to be free of the pressure? (Root)
Am I holding on to what isn’t good/ healthy for me and my well-being? (Spleen)
Am I avoiding truth and confrontation? (Solar Plexus)

To go deeper:What situation/person is disturbing me?
How do I treat that situation/person? What is my behavior towards it/them?
How do I act with other people in regards to this situation? (Do I look for sympathy instead of a solution?)
Have I connected with my higher power on this?
What do I need in order to feel safe, secure, and resolved?
How is my self-esteem? / Where am I getting my worth?
What do I want to happen and why?
Why am I having this thought?
Where have I been selfish, dishonest with myself/others, inconsiderate?
Whom have I hurt and what could I do differently?
Where have I been self-centered, self-seeking, self-righteous?
Have I engaged in self-pity/victim mentality?
Have I been overly self-reliant?
Where have I been delusional, or omitted certain things?
What am I afraid of?
Who am I depending on in order to feel a certain way (and can anyone actually make me feel differently)?
What does my highest self want?
Am I taking things too seriously, or not seriously enough?
Am I wasting hours in stinkin’ thinkin’ with mind candy instead of solution?

“Mom” Advice on Making Decisions

Here are a few wise words from some of our favorite mother-figures:

Pray about it, make a decision, and act your way into right thinking.

Have no fear – there are no mistakes. I taught my kids to always follow their heart and do what they felt was best in the moment. If they get down the road and the choice is no longer working for them – just make a left turn, head in a new direction by making a new decision. It’s been my experience that I couldn’t have gotten to this “great place” if I hadn’t gone through that supposedly “bad place”. What goes up, must come down and what goes down, must come up.

Go slow, and no one will get hurt.

Learn to reparent yourself with meditation and kindness: What would the best mom in the world tell you or your inner child?

Before you make the final call

Ensure you’re in a good place to make a clear decision. Are you rested, have you eaten well, are you hydrated, are you thinking clearly, have you processed emotions around this thoroughly and are in a place of clarity? If you’re Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired —HALT and take care of your basic needs first. If you have unresolved trauma, it’s helpful to bring awareness and release to that, so you can connect with your inner guidance. If you’re not clear, don’t make a decision. It’s okay to wait.

Tools for Making Decisions

What type of decision you are trying to make can help determine what tool is best. The way you ask the question is important, and can inform which tool you want to use to help you explore your answer.

Pro/Con ListsSometimes it helps to get things out of your head and onto paper. See our self-inquiry questions above for journal prompts.

Intuition We have five physical senses (seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching) that extend into the unseen (psychic) realm. What is your sixth sense saying about your decision? Are you noticing any intuitive hits or gut instincts?

Phone a Friend – or SeveralTalking through your situation and mind thoughts (pros/ cons, etc.) with a trusted friend or mentor – or several! – is a good way to check yourself. Often, this will allow you to hear what comes out, revealing something you may not have been aware of. Being in public spaces can also bring clarity because it connects different streams of your awareness; you may see something new just by sitting at the coffee shop or going to the farmers’ market!

AstrologyEach planet has its own influence in your natal chart and in the Skies. In fact, here are twelve astrology life hacks. When it comes to decisions, Mercury is King. How is Mercury influencing your chart?

  • What sign and house are your natal Mercury in? This gives you information about how you learn, understand, think, communicate, and make decisions.
  • Is Mercury in retrograde? This is not an ideal time to access clarity.
  • Is Mercury in the Skies affecting your natal chart? An experienced astrologer can interpret the angles and cycles of Mercury—and all the planets—to help give extra insight and optimal timing on important decisions.

Akashic RecordsThe Akashic Records are a great decision making tool, especially if you are unclear on how you feel about your options and the choices you need to make. You can also ask very direct questions of your records to get a sense of how each option will affect you in the long term.

After opening your records, imagine being lifted on an airplane and delivered to your favorite place in nature (real or imagined). Imagine yourself entering a white tent, filled with plush blankets and pillows, a cozy fire is burning in the center and you are completely safe and at peace. Then call forward any guides who need to be present for this moment. Maybe even loved ones or close friends who you trust and who support you. You can even imagine I am there with you (April) or Tiffany or Leisha. Ask that these guides support you in banishing fear and anxiety from your thoughts.

Ask out loud that wisdom, peace, love and truth be present with you in this sacred space. Then bring the decision you need to make forward in your mind. Allow yourself to watch what will happen if you make that choice. If fear or anxiety comes up, just acknowledge it and dismiss it.

Allow your body to feel a verbal ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to each layer of that decision. For example, if you are wondering if you should change careers, maybe the first question is around leaving your current job. Maybe it’s around starting a side hustle or a part time job, then moving in deeper and deeper until you get to the core choice that you need to make. Usually, at the core, we get down to a place of identity: “Will I still be me if I walk away from this dynamic that is no longer serving me?” or “Will I still be loved if I stop giving into this cycle of codependency?” (spoiler alert: The answer is YES! You will!)

After closing the records, journal everything you thought/saw/felt/learned during your time. Or if you are a verbal processor, call up a friend and tell them about your experience. You can even just record a voice memo for yourself. If you want assistance, you can always book a one-on-one session with April.

Human DesignHuman Design shows us that each of us has a unique and specific Strategy and Authority for our own inner process of decision-making. Some of us need to wait out your emotional cycle so you can see all sides, some of us know spontaneously in the moment, some of us need to talk it out with the correct other person/ people to hear how we truly feel, some of us may need to follow the lunar cycle to come to the correct decision. [Check out this article & podcast on Human Design Aura Types, which determine the individual Strategy for decisions!]

Once you become aware of your own inner guidance system and the mechanics of how you are designed to operate in your life, it’s about learning to honor and trust it. Over all else. Only you know what’s right for you, no one else. It’s about becoming aware of what you may not be aware of: how you’re designed to make decisions within yourself.

The mind will pipe up with SO many reasons to not follow your strategy and authority. It’s about watching that – seeing that the mind is doing it’s pros and cons lists and weighing all the options. I (Leisha) like the practice of thanking my mind – because that is what it’s good at: measuring, conceptualizing, seeing both sides, having ideas and opinions! But then gently and kindly letting it know it can sit back now and enjoy the show because I am trusting my strategy and authority. I am honoring my own inner guidance. Thank you, sweet Mind, for your contribution; you did your job.

Remember, life is an experiment! Awareness of your decision-making is key. If you “make a mistake” (don’t trust your own inner knowing or can’t access it), what can you notice about how it feels (resistance – frustration, bitterness, anger, disappointment)? You can make a different choice next time, follow your strategy and authority, and notice how it feels (satisfaction, success, peace, surprise). Collect the data over time. What patterns emerge about your decision-making in your own experiment?

Most importantly, this process for making decisions, big and small, in your life can bring you to deeper and deeper levels of what you are here to do: truly and profoundly love yourself.

Setting the Records Straight

First things first, what are we even talking about here? Thanks to the first law of thermodynamics, we know that the total amount of energy and matter in the Universe remains constant, merely changing from one form to another. That means your energy has always existed since the beginning of time. We all experience the impact of that epically long history without a clear roadmap of how to navigate it all. Enter the Akashic Records! The Akashic Records serve as a metaphysical library that archives all the information you will ever need about your soul’s history. I like to think of them as an external hard drive that lives in another dimension, waiting for you to plug in.

Can you hear me now? Good!

We can all access our records, but that doesn’t mean our connection will be clear. Before opening the records, you will need to take the following steps in order to clear your channel and ensure you have a clean connection.

    1. Sober up. Make sure you are free of any substances, such as drugs or alcohol (this does not include prescription medication). Your mind and body need to be clear and crisp. Mind altering drugs or any kind of alcohol will inhibit your ability to connect and hear your messages clearly.
    2. Girl’s gotta eat. Do not enter the records on a completely empty stomach. Be sure to have eaten something grounding, such as seeds, nuts or vegetables, prior to entering the records. Avoid processed food and sugar, which can also interfere with your ability to receive messages.
    3. Ask permission. You can read for yourself at any time, but you must gain consent before opening another person’s records. This includes animals (your pets). Do not enter the records of a minor, even if they give you permission. Anyone under the age of 18 may open their own records, but it’s not appropriate to read for children.
    4. Meditate. Begin with a grounding meditation. Since you’re literally allowing your spirit to make contact with another dimension, it helps your physical body to begin by doing some form of grounding. This could look like standing barefoot in the grass and breathing deeply for a few seconds, or doing a full guided meditation. This doesn’t have to be very elaborate, but don’t skip this step as it helps you stay connected to this spiritual plane.
    5. Clear the room. You will want to cleanse the energy around you by burning a cleansing substance, such as Palo Santo or Sage. If you have allergies, you can buy cleansing room sprays that are smokeless.
    6. A proper shut down. It’s tempting to open the records, ask some questions, then simply move on. It is important that you actually close your records every time. A simple gratitude message will suffice, then repeat “The records are now closed, amen” three times. This shuts the door so you don’t keep feeling that energy all day long.
    7. Get salty. After a very intense session, I will often take an epsom salt bath with essential oils to replenish myself and do a deep cleanse. I have found this incredibly important when reading for other people and I need to cleanse my energy.

Pro Tips from April

    • I usually create an altar space for myself somewhere outside or in a quiet corner where I can be undisturbed while I’m in the records. Consistency helps me connect with the energy and get in flow.
    • I will always keep a separate journal that’s just for my messages that come through the Akashic Records so that I can keep track of my progress.
  • If you just are not hearing anything or seeing anything when you open your records, I recommend opening them while you’re on a walk or on a long scenic drive. Sometimes messages come through clearer when you’re moving your body, and that’s totally okay! Experiment and find what works best.

Opening the Records

This prayer was channeled by Ashley Wood, one of the world’s leaders in working with the Akashic Records. She teaches her students to open the records with this prayer, and I have always followed her format.

“We gather together in light, we gather together in love, we gather together in knowing the messages from above.

Through the Akashic Records, we understand our greatness. Through the Akashic Records we understand our wisdom. Through the Akashic Records, we understand what’s there. This prayer will help deliver us there.

Listen to an Interview with April!

April’s psychic abilities appeared when she was very young. She frequently saw angels and spoke ‘words of knowledge’ over friends and family. Raised in an Evangelical culture, April was gifted in the art of hearing God’s voice but was discouraged from pursuing anything perceived as New Age. She eventually left her childhood faith tradition to pursue a spiritual path that felt true and authentic to her and has been practicing Tarot, Akashic Records, and other mystical arts since 2018.

The life-death-life cycle is held within us and our ancestors. What happens when we invite them into our lives? I’m Addie Broyles, a writer and tarot reader in Austin, who also practices ancestral healing. I work with folks who want to connect on a deeper level with the people who came before, as well as the chosen ancestors, the people who loved on you and made you feel whole.

Watch this powerful interview

I started doing this work when my grandmother was dying and I realized that the stories she held would soon be lost with her. I started paying closer attention to what she was saying, and the clues ultimately led to an ancestry trip in 2015 with my sister to an island in the middle of the Baltic Sea where our great-great grandmother was born in 1855.

The spiritual transformation of that trip led me to explore other practices, including tarot, to foster this transdimensional connection. This ancestral healing is something I bring to my writing, my podcasts and my quilts. In this month’s Wise Skies membership workshop I shared more about how to start an ancestral healing practice and why it’s ultimately a form of transformative justice.

As we bring a gentle form of curiosity into questions about how people lived, why they made the decisions they did and how we might accept them now, including their flaws, we practice “calling people in” instead of “calling people out.” This is critical work as we, the collective, imagine a kind and more equitable future for all. If you’ve ever like a bridge between the past and the future, this members-only workshop for you.

Ancestral Connection Activity

List five people who love or loved you unconditionally (living or dead). Alternatively, you can name five people in your family tree who you want to know more about or have a deeper connection with. (You can also name chosen ancestors, or people you are not related to but with whom you share this feeling. It’s OK, if you don’t know them. Your favorite author/teacher can be on this list.)

For each person, write something you admire in them and wish you could tell them. It’s OK if you don’t know much about them.

For each person, write down something special that they would see in you today, if you know or knew them. For the people you haven’t met, imagine what they would say to you if they could see you right now. What encouragement or life insight might they have for you?

For each person, imagine their greatest grief. Write it down. Then, think about one of their life’s highlights. Imagine how they felt in both situations. Allow yourself to feel compassion for them in their highest and lowest moments and as their best and worst selves. Then turn that love back on yourself. Offer a heart hug to the inner child of your loved one who might not have had that kind of love in their lives.

If desired, meditate for a few minutes and then pull a tarot card asking for insights into these new relationships.

Check back in with these ancestors if you enjoyed how you felt being in this kind of connection with them. You might even pull out a photo of them, put their birthday or death day on your calendar or start planning a trip to learn more about them.

Sneak Peek for April: Excuse me, while I kiss the Sky! Jupiter kisses Neptune every twelve years or so—fairly common when it comes to the large, slow moving outer planets. But astrologers are getting excited about the one coming up in April since it’s happening in Pisces, the sign that governs both Jupiter and Neptune. It’s heavily nuanced as it hits the fixed star Markab. I’m sensing some of us may be in for a bumpy magic carpet ride until the release on April 12. Are you ready to rodeo? As you Thank, so Shall you Be…

Jupiter kisses Neptune every twelve years or so—fairly common when it comes to the large, slow moving outer planets. But astrologers are getting excited about the one coming up in April since it’s happening in Pisces, the sign that governs both Jupiter and Neptune. Magic!

On the high vibes side—this “kiss” occurs at the very midpoint of a Sun/Saturn sextile (the best possible case)! But it’s too good to be true— the kiss also smacks down on the challenging fixed star Markab at 23-Pisces. I’m sensing some of us may be in for a bumpy magic carpet ride. Are you ready to rodeo this Spring?

Free Blessing Ball Meditation

Signature high vibe themes:

  • otherworldly spiritual experiences
  • states of expanded consciousness
  • drunk in love
  • having so much luck and cosmic support

What to watch out for:

  • gossip, slander, and taking things too far
  • mind-altering substance abuse
  • being overly optimistic, distortion, dementia
  • disappointments, accidents, justice not being served
  • violence, loss, and exile

How will you sense these big energies, and how will you work with them? The kiss releases on April 12, 2022— we will see effects of it starting now. Here’s your invitation to stop crossing your fingers and toes… thank your lucky stars, and connect with your Tribes of Light! Here are some ideas to activate the big magic available:

  1. Start by listening to Adrienne’s free Blessing Ball meditation.
  2. Get into gratitude ASAP—journal and mantra like your life depends on it.
  3. Find 23-Pisces in your chart and get curious about that house.

You may have felt there was something off with the energy of the New Year—like resolutions couldn’t quite stick, or that ideas for intentions weren’t clear to you, maybe even an energy of something not quite beginning on January 1 as you expected. In Human Design, we can see the mechanical nature of this: the New Year’s cycle does not actually begin on January 1st. The Rave New Year (as it’s called in HD) begins when the Sun completes its yearly cycle. When the Sun enters the 41st Gate, the new Sun cycle begins. Boom. For the current cycle, this lands on January 22 at 7:49:44 pm CST.Do you find yourself still looking back over the previous year in January? The mundane “New Year” (Jan 1st) is actually the beginning of the ending of the yearly HD cycle. In fact, it’s the Labyrinth style, y’all. Spoiler alert: January 1st is not the time to start new things like resolutions, as they are not supported mechanically, nor astrologically. This is one big reason why so many resolutions don’t pan out.Instead, the mundane New Year (Jan 1st) is a mechanically optimal time for reflection, to see how the past year unfolded. To collect pictures, stories, notes, and ideas that you experienced in the previous year—and to stay curious about them. What did you see? How did your experiment go? So what’s up with Gate 41? In the Human Design System, there are 64 gates in the wheel, and the celestial bodies move cyclically through all 64 gates. Gate 41 is the gate of Contraction, and it’s a ‘start codon’ in Human Design lingo. The importance of this gate lies within its relationship to genetics and the collective human experience. Ever felt like a towel that’s been wrung dry? This gate is about decreasing to the point of contraction until the existential energy is there to make it a starting point, a pressure for change that drives us toward new experience. When the Sun enters gate 41, we are under the rays of human potential where fantasy meets clarity and the energy supports the start of something new: the new yearly cycle! Does that feel innocent and hopeful? Does it feel mechanically correct to work your New Year magick within the frequency of the initiation codon? This is the magic of good timing available when the Sun is in the dream-makers gate, gate 41. Cheshire cat time, y’all. There may be more… just waiting to reveal itself to you.

This is your experiment:Would you like to experiment with awareness around how these different points in the cycle feel for you in your own life? Would you like to experiment with reflecting on the last year in these days before January 22? Would you like to experiment with group intentions or perhaps embodiment intentions (to connect and listen to your body)?Do you want to watch and see what life brings you on January 22 and beyond?

“You can’t do it alone. And you can’t do it by deciding who is there in your life. One of the most important things that Human Design can bring for you in your life is to have the right person with you. To have the right people with you, to know who those beings are not because your mind has pressured you into seeing, thinking or feeling about them in certain ways. They are there because you have taken them in correctly according to who you are as a being. It is correct relationships that change everything. We are here to share awareness. We are here to commune with each other. It is our magic. It is what we’re all about.” – Ra Uru Hu

Of course, with Human Design, it always comes back to following your unique and differentiated Strategy and Authority. This will always bring us to the correct nourishment, environment, relationships and perspective. Heart Center

Type 2: The HelperEnneagram 2’s are known best as the helper type. (No, we didn’t skip Type 1 – it’s at the end).

They fall within the heart triad, meaning they live their life through the lens of their emotions and find belonging and security through relationships. They are friendly, generous, and self-sacrificing, but can also be sentimental, flattering, and people-pleasing.When at their best, Type 2s are unselfish and altruistic, they have unconditional love for others.

Basic Fear: Of being unwanted, unworthy of being loved
Basic Desire: To feel loved
Orientation to Time: The Present

Type 2s have the superpower of always being in tune with other people’s feelings. They are the first to volunteer to run the canned food drive, they are the friend that brings you a homemade meal when you’re sick, they know everything about everyone in their life and they struggle more than the other types with setting healthy boundaries.

Enneagram 2s are constantly ‘helping’ because they believe their worth comes through being loved and needed by others. Anne Lamott says, “Helping is the sunny side of control,” and that is true for Enneagram 2s. Their drive to experience love and appreciation from others leads them to take on too much and overextend, which ultimately leaves them feeling resentful.

SIDE BAR: Before offering to help others, do a gut check. Am I doing this so that I can have something in return (such as affirmation and appreciation)? Or am I truly doing this without any strings attached?

In Growth: Enneagram 2s move to the high side of type 4
In Stress: Enneagram 2s move to the low side of type 8

Type 3: The Achiever Enneagram 3s are best known as the Achiever or Performer.

They are hard-working and driven by success. They are also in the heart triad, which means they experience emotion while simultaneously being detached and out of touch with their own feelings. When at their best, Type 3s are self-accepting, authentic, and role models who inspire others.

Basic Fear: Of being worthless
Basic Desire: To feel valuable and worthwhile
Orientation to time: The Future

Type 3s are successful, high achievers. They are action oriented, they are great at crossing things off a to-do list and they are goal driven. They want to appear competent and successful in all situations, which drives them to adapt constantly to their environment, presenting the exact version of themself required in order to achieve their end goal. This can take the form of code switching and people-pleasing.

SIDE BAR: Emotions are the expression of feelings. You can have an emotion, like crying, without understanding the feeling behind the emotion.

In Growth: Enneagram 3s move to the high side of type 6
In Stress: Enneagram 3s move to the low side of type 9

Type 4: The Individualist Type 4s are best known as the Individualist or the Romantic.

They are also in the heart triad, and live life constantly in touch with their own feelings and emotions. Type 4s are driven to be different, authentic and unique. They are typically highly creative people who are drawn to express themselves through art, fashion, music, cooking and other creative outlets. When at their best, type 4s are inspired and highly creative, they are able to renew themselves and transform their experiences.

Basic Fear: That they have no identity or personal significance
Basic Desire: To find themselves and their significance (to create an identity)
Orientation to Time: The Past

Type 4s feel that they are unlike other human beings, and consequently, that no one can understand them or love them adequately. They often see themselves as uniquely talented, possessing special, one-of-a-kind gifts, but also as uniquely disadvantaged or flawed. More than any other type, Fours are acutely aware of and focused on their personal differences and deficiencies.

SIDE BAR: Being in relationships with fours often involves a ‘push-pull’ dynamic. “Go away, but don’t leave me” is an unspoken need of Type 4s. They require space to exist and express themselves, but also need to know that you will not abandon them.

In Growth: Enneagram 4s move to type 1
In Stress: Enneagram 4s move to type 2

Head Center

Type 5: The Investigator Type 5s are best known as the investigator.

They are constantly pursuing insight and knowledge, because they believe that having all the facts will bring them a sense of safety and security. Type 5s have a measured amount of energy each day, leading them to have the most boundaries of any Enneagram type. When they are at their best, 5s are visionary pioneers, often ahead of their time, and able to see the world in an entirely new way.

Basic Fear: Being useless, helpless, or incapable
Basic Desire: To be capable and competent
Orientation to Time: The Past

Type 5s want to possess knowledge, to understand the environment, to have everything figured out as a way of defending the self from threats from the environment. They are always searching, asking questions, and delving into things in depth. They do not accept received opinions and doctrines, feeling a strong need to test the truth of most assumptions for themselves.

SIDE BAR: When 5s have had enough, they are simply done. They will often drive themselves to a party so they can leave when they want. Their default answer to taking on new or more tasks is “no,” because they are keenly aware of what saying yes will cost them.

In Growth: Enneagram 5s go to type 8
In Stress: Enneagram 5s go to type 7

Type 6: The Loyalist Type 6s are best known as The Loyalist.

Type 6 is the committed, security-oriented type. They are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy. Excellent “troubleshooters,” they foresee problems and foster cooperation, but can also become defensive, evasive, and anxious—running on stress while complaining about it. They can be cautious and indecisive, but also reactive, defiant and rebellious. They typically have problems with self-doubt and suspicion. When at their best, they are internally stable and self-reliant, courageously championing themselves and others.

Basic Fear: Of being without support and guidance
Basic Desire: To have security and support
Orientation to Time: The Present

Type 6s are the primary type in the Head Center, meaning that they have the most trouble contacting their own inner guidance. As a result, they do not have confidence in their own minds and judgments.

This does not mean that they do not think. On the contrary, they think—and worry–a great deal. They dread making important decisions, and while they struggle to trust their own judgement, they equally fear having anyone else make decisions for them. They want to avoid being controlled, but are also afraid of taking responsibility.

SIDE BAR: This type can be divided into two categories: phobic and counter phobic. Phobic 6s use their fear to avoid dangerous situations. They disaster plan and are prepared for every contingency. Counter phobic 6s harness their fear into action, often coming across as aggressive and forceful. Rushing up to the edge of the cliff and staring down the steep drop is a way to process their anxiety over what could happen.

In Growth: Enneagram 6s go to type 9
In Stress: Enneagram 6s go to type 3

Type 7: The Enthusiast Type 7s are best known as The Enthusiast.

Type 7s are an extroverted, fun and playful type. Always up for an adventure, they ride the highs of life from one day to the next. Playful, high-spirited, and practical, they can also misapply their many talents, becoming over-extended, scattered, and undisciplined. When at their best, type 7s focus their talents on worthwhile goals, becoming appreciative, joyous, and satisfied.

Basic Fear: Of being deprived and in pain
Basic Desire: To be satisfied and content—to have their needs fulfilled
Orientation to Time: The Future

Enneagram 7s constantly seek new and exciting experiences, but can become distracted and exhausted by continuously exerting this type of energy. They typically have problems with impatience and impulsiveness.

SIDE BAR: Type 7s prefer to live on the sunny side of life. Accessing the happy, feel-good emotions comes easily whereas facing the deeper, darker emotions do not. This drive to always live with a ‘life is good’ attitude can cause them to re-frame situations and scenarios to fit that mold.

In Growth: Enneagram 7s go to type 5
In Stress: Enneagram 7s go to type 1

Gut Center

Type 8: The ChallengerType 8s are best known as The Challenger.

Type 8s are self-confident, strong, and assertive. They are a straight-talking, no BS kind of type and have no trouble making decisions and leading the charge. Type 8s can also be ego-centric and domineering. This type feels they must control their environment, and sometimes people, becoming confrontational and intimidating. When at their best, they are excellent caregivers and use their strength to fight injustice.

Basic Fear: Of being harmed or controlled by others
Basic Desire: To protect themselves
Orientation to Time: The Future

Type 8s have enormous willpower and vitality, and they feel most alive when they are exercising these capacities in the world. They use their abundant energy to effect changes in their environment. Type 8s come on strong, but are really protecting an inner child that reveals itself when they feel safe, secure and loved. Type 8s often had to grow up before their time. At an early age, Type 8s understand that life requires strength and persistence—qualities that they develop in themselves and value in others.

SIDE BAR: Women who are Type 8s are the most misunderstood type. They often are incorrectly categorized as “bitchy” when really they are driven and authoritative. Society looks kindly on male Type 8s, but we struggle to accept female Type 8s.

In Growth: Enneagram 8s go to type 2
In Stress: Enneagram 8s go to type 5

Type 9: The PeacemakerType 9s are best known as The Peacemaker.

Type 9s value their own equilibrium, harmony and inner peace. They avoid conflict (usually) at all costs. They are usually creative, optimistic, and supportive, but can also be too willing to go along with others to keep the peace. They want everything to go smoothly and be without conflict, but they can also tend to be complacent, simplifying problems and minimizing anything upsetting. They typically have problems with inertia and stubbornness. When at their best, Type 9s are accepting and inclusive.

Basic Fear: Of loss and separation
Basic Desire: To have inner stability “peace of mind”

Type 9s have the superpower of seeing all sides to an argument, making them extraordinary mediators. But when it comes to making up their own minds about their preferences or desires, they struggle. Type 9s tend to ‘merge’ with other, stronger personalities around them, believing that their own feelings matter less than other people’s. Type 9s make incredible friends and companions, but often struggle with motivation and can lean toward complacency.

SIDE BAR: Type 9s are potentially the most grounded in the physical world and in their own bodies. Well-adjusted Type 9s are in touch with their instinctive qualities and have tremendous elemental power and personal magnetism.

In Growth: Enneagram 9s go to type 3
In Stress: Enneagram 9s go to type 6

Type 1: The ReformerType 1s are best known as The Reformer.

Type 1s are the classic perfectionists. In fact, most Enneagram 1s report having an inner critic that constantly points out their own failings and ways they can improve. This is the type most likely to follow behind you and reload the dishwasher the ‘right’ way.

Type 1s are conscientious and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong. They are fantastic advocates for change: always striving to improve things, but afraid of making a mistake. Type 1s are well-organized and maintain high standards, but can slip into being critical and perfectionistic. They typically have problems with resentment and impatience. At their best, Type 1s can be wise, discerning, realistic, and noble.

Basic Fear: Of being corrupt/evil, defective
Basic Desire: To be good, to have integrity, to be balanced

Ones have a “sense of mission” that leads them to want to improve the world in various ways, using whatever degree of influence they have. They strive to overcome adversity—particularly moral adversity—so that the human spirit can shine through and make a difference. They strive after “higher values,” even at the cost of great personal sacrifice.

SIDE BAR: Type 1s believe there is a right way and a wrong way to exist in the world. They may come off as critical, but understand that they are only trying to help. And any amount of criticism that’s directed at you is a minor reflection of the amount they reflect internally on themselves.

In Growth: Enneagram 1s go to type 7
In Stress: Enneagram 1s go to type 4

January Astrology: Weekly Overview

Hurry culture is out. 2022 is a 6-Universal year with the North Node moving into Taurus. The United States is facing our Pluto Return which will rock karmas set in place since 1776. This is a long walk. This is not a year to crush goals, it’s a year to slow down.

Slow culture is in. January kicks the year off with both Venus and Mercury retrograde. In a time when we are adjusting from massive world and personal changes, we need our ‘Mom’. We need some down time. We need our homes to be our rock. This is a critical year to help that Earth rock by slowing down, and coming to terms with pollution and toxins through practical action.

January 1-2* Venus is Rx * January 1: Sun Trine Uranus: Happy New Year! Sparks fly (the good kind). Try something different, make a new friend, answer the phone * January 2: New Moon at 12° Capricorn [6:33am CST] Where do you need to hit the reset button? What new projects do you want to start? Where do you need to make a commitment? New Moon Intention: I easily do things with a sense of fulfillment and purpose. Make wishes around: what needs to be renewed in terms of your public identity, make wishes about landing your dream job, or set your ambitions on a new course. This phase signifies new beginnings and is a great time to set intentions. New Moon intentions are most potent during the first 8 hours of when the Moon is New. Get extra insight to what is renewing in your life by studying the house where you have 12-Capricorn in your birth chart. * January 2: ☿︎ Mercury enters Aquarius: Fire up your inner rebel, get passionate about a cause, and raise the vibe in your network. Things can get weird and wonderful with Mercury in freaky Aquarius through January 26. Heads up: take care of important details before Mercury retrogrades on January 14.

Jan 3-9 January 3: Jupiter squares the North Node*: major twists of fate * Jan 5: Venus Sextile Neptune * Jan 9: Sun Conjunct Venus Love is in the air. This pleasurable transit can be a good time to schedule the sweeter things in life. Think creature comforts, relaxation, and delicious connections.

Jan 10-16* January 11: Mars square Neptune Safety first. Caution lights come on: Poison, toxins, deception, confusion. * January 14 to February 3: Mercury retrograde [Aquarius-Capricorn]. Communication, travel, and electronics have a way of going haywire during Mercury retrograde – stay patient as times change. Reexamine where you stand in certain groups, rethink your wishes, and revise plans. Can we be ok with some structures shattering for the purpose of rebuilding on a more solid foundation? What are your standards of integrity? Have they changed over time? There’s lots to think about – stay curious and open-minded for the best possible solution.

Jan 17-23* Jan 17: ︎ Full Moon at 27° Cancer 11:48 PM GMT Full Moon Intention: I love feeling good at home. Set intentions around: family, inuition, cleaning the fridge, organizing the pantry, restoring order to your kitchen and places you go to feel nurtured. Out with the old! This phase signifies the completion of a cycle, endings, and closure wherever 27-Cancer is in your chart. * Jan 18: Uranus direct in Taurus: The energy slows way down the day before and the day of Uranus direct. You may find yourself more hungry than usual. This is your body’s way of grounding and seeking comfort. Plan a healthy, homecooked meal to stay satiated and signal safety to your inner knower. Go easy, let the dust settle as times change. . Sun Trine North Node this day too. Good karma! Blessings upon blessings upon blessings. This is an auspicious time to connect with your highest soul’s purpose – you are your own guiding light. This is a time filled with luck, flow, and relative ease. Notice the bonuses in your life. This transit can be felt a day in advance and occurs twice: January 18, and September 8. * January 18: The North Node will shift into Taurus, the South Node into Scorpio. Embracing what is, instead of what could be. Self-care that involves financial honesty and integrity * Jan 20: ☉︎ Sun enters Aquarius. Happy Birthday Aquarius! We can all tap into the friendly, independent, and unconventional Aquarian vibes through 2/18. (Pssst… We have birthday readings and gifts for your Aquarius at www.wiseskiescollective.com/)

Jan 24-31* Jan 24: ︎︎ Mars in Capricorn. What mountains are you climbing? Mars fuels ambitions, long-term plans, and overcoming the odds while in Capricorn through March 6. Watch out for stubborn tendencies: are you holding yourself back from greatness? * January 29: Venus direct in Capricorn Elders, Mentors, Mountains. Reconsider any longterm plans or goals. How has your life pivoted and changed from what you thought it would be like at this stage? Give yourself permisison to create a new dream, make a new vision board, and change the course of your life however you want to – then be ready to take the first step when Mercury goes direct February 4. Go slow through February 18.

2022 is approaching. What themes are baked in? What’s there to savor? When should we avoid burnout? Astrology shows us where to find ports in the storm.

Looking back:* 2021 was a 5-universal year: feeling spread too thin, things moving in a lot of directions, moving parts, scattered energy, RV lifestyles * Saturn/Uranus squares: energy grid breakdowns, shocking weather patterns, unexpected events, freak accidents, burnout, old structures fractured, dividing lines change, boundaries broken and rebuilt, pandemic of airborne disease * Moving out of a year of chaos, we want to feel calm, clear, and certain. We want to tie up loose ends when possible.

Hurry culture is out.2022 is a 6-Universal year with the North Node moving into Taurus. The United States is facing our Pluto Return which will rock karmas set in place since 1776. This is a long walk. This is not a year to crush goals, it’s a year to slow down.

We need some down time. We need our homes to be our rock. This is a critical year to help the Earth by slowing down, and coming to terms with pollution and toxins through practical action.

Tiff’s 2022 media predictions:Sorry doesn’t cut it. Karma and restorative justice for indigenous people will make waves in the USA. Bigfoot, aliens, and crystal caves will attract big media. Worker strikes, teacher strikes, student strikes – the great resignation continues. Homeland security, redistribution of taxes, changing districts/boundaries in the land will be in the headlines. Poisonous gas/oil leaks and cover-ups are also likely. Can mushrooms save the world with bioremediation?

Quickie Horoscope: * Money: Diversify, make money online, get creative, keep pivoting with technology. Relax, see what comes to you. Stop pushing. Plant seeds with patience. * Love and Relationships: Wait for emotional clarity, then commit (to yourself, to others). Redefining long term alliances based on hope. Make new house rules, find new spaces and paces together. * Health: Stock up on herbs for lung health, practice breath work [Mars rx in Gemini agitates the airways]. Medicine from the Garden, Body Wisdom, Lean on what you know in your bones [North Node in Taurus]. Eat more plant-based food. * Garden: April 30/May 1: The Partial Solar Eclipse in 10-Taurus is conjunct Uranus. What quirky heirloom veggie do you want to grow this year?

Big Picture Overview

A LightHouse in JanuaryThe North Node shifts into Taurus, while the South Node into Scorpio for 18 months.

  • Focused effort yields results: embrace what is, instead of what could be
  • Self-care that involves financial honesty and integrity is sexy
  • We’re not trading love for money anymore [Venus is retrograde until the 29th]
  • Awareness for what does work: simplicity, truth, practical action
  • Acknowledging what doesn’t work: relying on outside resources, manipulation, lies, secrets, seduction, emotional hijacking
  • Find your inner Stevie Nicks – that Earthy Practical Magic. Unplug, buy responsibly harvested crystals, think about what type of Earth steward you want to be [ask me about beekeeping!].

Take a Chance in FebruaryFebruary kicks off a huge window of opportunity with a New Moon in Aquarius on the 1st. With Jupiter sextiling Uranus this month, seek conflict resolution, a return to joy, and roll the dice. An 8-Universal month, it’s time to go big. It can indicate big money and big solutions from uncanny places. Note: February 20th begins the Pluto return for the USA. Note: The Dust Bowl of the 1930’s marked the half-return of Pluto. Get an early start on your gardens before we hit some rough patches, specifically with herbs for lung health [earmark: Fork and Moon for later].

We don’t know what we don’t know in AprilJupiter conjuncts Neptune in Pisces on April 12th, magnifying the unknown and creating a new thirteen year cycle. Cultural matters will be in the media (perhaps a spike in disease or complications with drugs/vaccines as Mars conjuncts Neptune early April, or a new genre of art/music). This can be the month an epic, masterpiece film debuts that changes the world. This is also eclipse season: is it too good to be true, or big magic working in your favor?

May Day, May DayHeads up: May is a hot mess of burnout, confusion, and wishy washy. Don’t push it.

  • May 10: Mercury retrograde [Gemini-Taurus] through June 2: Changing Minds
  • May 10th: Jupiter moves into Aries through October 28: Fireball
  • May 16: Lunar Eclipse in 25-Scorpio (square Saturn in Aquarius): Friction
  • May 17: Saturn semi-sextile Neptune (Aquarius / Pisces): Sidetracked
  • May 18: Mars conjunct Neptune (Pisces): Invasions

Supply chain shifts and border issues in July? This is a pivotal month for the future of the USA. On the USA’s second Pluto return pass [July 11th], a retrograde Saturn presses the USA’s Moon. The people are not going to be duped or controlled anymore. Borders and boundaries will be challenged. Uranus will conjunct the North Node indicating new twists of fate when it comes to food and finance. Then Mars will conjunct Uranus at the end of the month indicating explosions, disruptions, forest fires, and droughts. The Roman empire fell during their second Pluto return, and while it may not be the end of the USA, there will be a lot of upheaval and an inability to get everyone on the same page as previously hidden corruption is made known. Is it possible to hold a vision of love and peace through the fog? Yes, it is friends.

Mars retrogrades in NovemberThe Scorpio eclipse on October 25th brings a new awareness as it’s planetary ruler Mars sets up to retrograde October 30th for the rest of the year in Gemini. Mars represents challenges, energy, competition, and war. Gemini governs the lungs, shoulders, and hands, as well as our schools, teachers, and the way we learn. This Fall we will be reflective on where we are of a divided mind, and what we are at war with, within ourselves. I think we’re going to see health challenges or breakthroughs with respiratory health, as well as reversals of opinions, delays, strikes, and unfortunately violence in our schools. People will be changing teams/philosophies when it comes to public health. Much will be challenged and questioned the rest of the year.

The end of an era: Hope begins in the darkBy the third pass of the USA’s Pluto return at the end of December, the people are seeing clearly and taking the power back, or sinking further into denial. By this point, the economy has changed. Alliances have shifted. And the Earth itself seems to be mad. Pluto rules the underworld, hazardous waste, government, sex crimes, and also gold. Confronting the darkness won’t be an option, but like Anne Lamott says, “Hope begins in the dark.” Check out the subsection on the USA’s Pluto return below.

Your Main Anchor in 2022: Homing In

The Numerology changes to a Universal 6: there’s no place like homeLessons from the past: WWII ended in a 6 year (1941): cleaning up the rubble and settling into a new normal. What can you do from home? Victory gardens, planting seeds, burying the past with reverence. Finding balance: Live and let live.

    • Acclimating to a new pace or space
    • Finding a Spiritual home [yoga studios, church families]
    • Keeping and creating family traditions [and house rules/boundaries]
    • Home Sweet Home: feng shui, redecorate, reflow, keep the homefires burning
    • Shelter from the storm: home protection [insurance, security cameras, root cellars, prepper pantries]
    • Write feeling-based intentions and post them for every space
  • Craving home cooked meals: have a handy list of go-to comfort meals
  • Home as a symbol for emotional security. Re-mothering yourself: what advice would the wisest Mom give you?
  • Do you want to learn about Vesta, asteroid goddess of hearth and home?
  • Reframe relationships: brothers, sisters, who is your family?
  • Ancestry work: Many are called to generational healing, indigenous reparations, and family tree work this year [South Node in Scorpio – intense emotions, karmas]
  • Mother Earth Guardianship: Seed security, advances in farming equipment for homesteaders, livestock as garden companions not food. Commit to no pesticides, discover regenerative agriculture, add mycelium in your garden, learn natural beekeeping [treatment free], eat locally, eat from your garden, focus on the Earth’s bounties and Earth magic [North Node shifts to Taurus]. Geek out on heirloom seeds: https://www.seedsavers.org/. This is not a drill.

Planetary Overview: Brave New World

  • The Nodes shift into Taurus/Scorpio

Embracing what is, instead of what could be. Self-care that involves financial honesty and integrity

  • Mercury, Mars, and Venus retrograde in Air and Earth signs Allow plenty of room to reconsider and rework ideas. What do you want to focus on that requires learning by experience? We also listed all the 2022 Mercury business transits here!
  • Jupiter dips into Pisces and moves into Aries

This influences a zest for life and helps us anticipate the good things coming in 2022. Hope and Innocence are important motivators during such uncertain times. Invitation: Notice what is unfolding organically, versus what feels forced.

  • Saturn remains in Aquarius all year [until 2023]

Slow progress with science, airborne disease, robots, and networks continue. Do you want to rebel against the system? Feeling controlled by the chaos? Where can discipline bring freedom? [yoga, meditation]

  • Uranus remains in Taurus all year [until 2025]
Changes in values. Diversify food and finances – we don’t know what’s changing. Have a variety of food sources on hand (frozen, dried, and fresh). This also indicates radical changes in the Earth. The terrain itself becomes a battlefield or a place of shock and awe [consider war tactics of the Apaches, and the Russians underground systems]. Mother Earth regenerates herself volcanically.
  • Neptune remains in Pisces [until 2025]
We truly don’t know what we don’t know. Keep checking in with yourself for what feels true. Enjoy the mystery of life without getting duped.
  • Pluto remains in Capricorn [moves to Aquarius in 2023]This is the last year of resistance from the old guard. Will we see a revolution in the USA during our Pluto return hot spots? Mark these dates: February 20th, July 11th, and December 28th. July – December are pivotal months for the future of the USA.

If you are 18, 37, 55, or 74 years old this year, you will have your Nodal Return, which is a time when the wheel of fate spins you in a new direction.

USA Pluto Return: The Turning of a Nation

With an orbital period of 248 years, Pluto returns to the place it was in a birth chart every 250 years! The United States’ natal Pluto is in 27-Capricorn. We will experience our exact return three times in 2022: February 20th, July 11th, and December 28th. Here are some themes:

  • Restorative justice for native peoples and plants: seeking peace and harmony.
  • Unresolved karmic issues with upper/lower class and the misuse of power [since 1776]
  • National homecoming – who are we, what do we stand for?
  • Major changes in government, and who we give our power/authority to
  • Discovering our true power source and working with individual life force energies instead of mining energy for controlling entities
  • Agendas exposed. “The USA hasn’t been run by the people for the people – it has functioned as a trojan horse functioning for those in power.” -Adam Gainsburg
  • Changing how we handle death, death rites, burials
  • Judgment card in tarot: the world is watching

Practical Magic

What’s your prayer for 2022? As I’m writing this forecast, I’m watching documentaries on native peoples, and thinking about some of the earliest cries for peace in the USA by Black Kettle:

We have been travelling through a cloud. The sky has been dark ever since the war began.

Although wrongs have been done to me I live in hope. … Now we are together again to make peace.

And some inspiration one of my favorite poems to ring in the new year:

The Guest House by Rumi
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

When life feels out of control, we want an explanation. We want answers from the Universe: How long will I feel this way? When will things turn around? This too shall pass, but when? No one wants to experience the astrological predictions of more chaos, more unknown, more breaking of systems, more “I can’t breathe” moments. So we try to understand the future, in the context of the past, to predict our experiences. And we look for bright spots in the December forecast.

When we want to know the unknown, it can create urgency, frustration, sometimes fear. Can you relate? Our goal is peace, but our actions have missed a critical component: trusting we are in a synthesis process. Do I trust myself? A higher power? Are my efforts to predict the future robbing me of the magic of now?

When we want to predict the future destination without riding in the car of life, it completely robs us of the magic of the now. It’s the journey that informs the destination. The journey is unknowable because of free will. So to ground ourselves during uncertain times, we learn how to trust our unique decision making processes to carry us through life, and we maintain our spiritual practices.

What is your decision making process? You have a unique way to make decisions according to your bodygraph and astrological birth chart that will always guide you correctly. Here’s a quick run-down of the eight decision-making types.

Overcoming Negative Thinking

  1. Awareness. First, we have to be aware that negative thoughts are just mind chatter and try to excuse them: “Thank you mind, that’s not helpful right now. I see you, I hear you.”
  2. Synthesis. After we see “ah, that’s the mind!” there’s an integration period. Go into the white hot center of the thought to feel it fully, then allow the release. If you half-ass this, the thoughts will linger. Here’s a PTSD release technique.
  3. Fresh Thoughts. Fresh thoughts happen in the now. Now is when we can see ‘Yes, I’m ok. Yes, this feels correct.’ Or ‘I’m feeling bitter and frustrated, I wonder where I betrayed myself,’ and find a solution to get back on track.

What to do? We let time take time. We watch the story unfold while also being part of it. We are informing the future with our hopes, fears, and series of present moments. So we guard our thoughts. The ability to take care of the mind is key. This too, was the goal of the ancient yogis:

Chitta vritti nirodha means that yoga is the process of removing of the fluctuations of the mind. A still mind leads to clarity and truth. Anchor yourself around observing the breath.

Don’t rush it in December.
Let time take time.
Be here now.

NUMEROLOGY: 8-Universal Month in a 5-Universal Year: Rolling the Dice

Highs and lows – the energy will continue to be in flux while we have big decisions to make. The 8 says: Infinity, Abundance, Be “all in”, Go big or go home! The 5 says: Take me on an adventure! It also says: Get me out of here.

December 1: Neptune Direct in Pisces: Slower energy. Some of us may feel dizzy or have potent dreams processing. Things are not as they seem. Let some time pass. More will be revealed.

December 4th: New Moon Solar Eclipse in 12-Sagittarius: Eclipse Intention: I naturally find freedom, peace and joy in each day. I express my gratitude and contentment with life easily and graciously.

December 4-8: Mars squares Jupiter, Mercury squares Neptune: Confusion, delusion, lies, overdoses, improper medications, freak accidents, and toxins. Growing pains. Speeding tickets. Proceed with caution. It’s possible to turn lead into gold and problems into opportunities without burning up your pocketbook. Reflect back to January for clues on what you’re energized to expand, learn, or grow. Does it have to be done the hard way? Is it possible you’ve been lying to yourself, or trying to make something work that just isn’t?

December 10th: First Quarter Moon [19-Pisces]: Take one small step towards your dreams. This yang phase signifies decision making, determination, and commitment to action wherever 19-Pisces is in your chart.

December 13: Mars enters Sagittarius, Mercury enters Capricorn

Mars enters Sagittarius: Mars puts gas in the Sagittarius tank of freedom, travel, foreign cultures, and the justice system for the remainder of the year. Escapism, slower paces, and indecision are more likely – but that doesn’t mean we stop living. Invitation: take nothing personally, give people their freedom, and focus on things that liberate you.

Mercury enters Capricorn: Consider long term plans, finances, and commitments. There is a way to balance your practical goals with the desires of your heart. Diversify investments.

December 16th-17th: Sun semisquare Saturn under a Gemini Moon, Sun semisextile Pluto and Venus: Change of plans. You’re being rerouted, via a blessing in disguise. Pay attention to your health, go with the flow instead of resisting. You’re feeling more positive, loving, solution-oriented, and resourceful. Things are shifting in your favor. Be careful what you wish for – you just might get it!

December 18th: Full Moon in 27-Gemini; Mercury squares retrograde Chiron under the Full Moon: Go easy on yourself and others. We never know what battles people are fighting alone. Mental illness, head wounds, and false beliefs are lingering. Let’s be patient, tolerant, and kind. This phase signifies the completion of a cycle, endings, and closure wherever 27-Gemini is in your chart.

Full Moon Intention:“I let go of unnecessary business, over-extension and emotionally exhausting relationships to create space for greater vitality, curiosity, and sustainability.”

Themes:

  • Too many tabs open. What project do you need to put down in order to move forward with other areas that are important to you? Is it time to let go of unnecessary business, over-extension and emotionally exhausting relationships to create space for greater vitality, curiosity, and sustainability?
  • Too many tabs open. What project do you need to put down in order to move forward with other areas that are important to you?
  • Set intentions around any blocks to writing, editing, speaking, reading, communication, and mental wellbeing

December 19th:Venus Retrograde, Chiron Direct

Venus ℞ in Capricorn: Venus is a personal planet that hits close to home. Known as the Goddess of Love, Venus rules matters of the heart (Libra), but she also reigns over finances (Taurus). December 21st: Sun enters Capricorn: Happy Birthday Capricorn! Tap into your ambitious, practical, and pragmatic Capricorn vibes through January 19.

December 24th: Saturn square Uranus Retrograde: The Biggest Transit of 2021 completes during Eclipse Season: The final Saturn/Uranus Square requires we adapt to unexpected, life altering changes as a society and individually. Remember: what you resist persists. Control is an illusion. Try to stay curious and flexible as times change. [Side note: The Saturn/Uranus square of 1975-77 coincided with the swine flu epidemic and the Saturn/Uranus opposition of 2008-10 coincided with the H1N1 pandemic, and the Saturn/Uranus squares of 2021 coincided with covid].

December 25th: Christ Consciousness: Find the mistletoe. Retrograde Venus kisses Pluto while Mars trines Chiron creating deep, loving, karmic connections with the self, the divine, and the other.

December 26th: Last Quarter Moon [5-Libra]: Friendly Cosmic Reminder: You don’t have to be the karma police. This yin phase signifies receptivity and a willingness to trust, surrender, and let things take their course wherever 5-Libra is in your chart.

December 28th: Jupiter ℞ enters AquariusWill we see a breakthrough in covid info/cases? Will Big Pharma have something to say (or answer for)? Aquarius rules airborne diseases, innovative solutions, and communities. Jupiter rules expansion, big money, and education.

The rest of December is about willingness.

  • December 26: Mercury sextile Neptune: Creativity and synchronicity.
  • December 27: Venus ℞ semisquare Mars: Competitive energy.
  • December 28: Mars semisquare Pluto and inconjunct Uranus retrograde : Passion fuels the fire. It’s time to cut away from the norms.
  • December 29: Mercury conjunct Venus retrograde: Resolve issues. Sun square Chiron: Remember this: life is happening for you, not to you. Mars sextile Saturn: Putting in long, hard hours results in satisfaction.
  • December 30: Mercury conjunct Pluto: Stay curious and seek to understand.. Background checks, discussing life’s mysteries, and bringing awareness to the unknown side of life can be useful right now.
  • December 31: Mercury semisquare Mars: You don’t have to know everything, nor tolerate people trying to push their agendas. Take a time out from any arguments – put down your weapons. It’s a new year.

A Clear Strategy to work with the SkiesMoney: Stay Diverse: Uranus is still in Taurus – we don’t know what the markets are doing. In fact the only thing we know is that systems regarding food and money are unstable. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Be prepared for food and weather crises, and be ready to help neighbors.

Work with the best days: 10th-11th: Venus conjuncts Pluto under a First Quarter Moon in Pisces, Mercury sextile Jupiter. Focus on right action. Deep love, real connections, and karmic connections. Opportunity knocks. It’s a good time to interview, write resumes, self-promote, work with the media, conduct book signings, gain favor in legal issues, investigate publishing, and explore spirituality. What you think about grows. Where do you want to find expansion, good luck, and good mojo? Just think about it.

Avoid heavy stuff on the more intense days: Get important things done before the Full Moon/Venus Retrograde/Saturn/Uranus Squares commence mid-month. Watch out for pot holes and speed traps Dec 4-8. Give yourself plenty of breathing room, knowing if things are changing, you’re on the right track.

The Sun symbolizes our outward expression and the Moon our subconscious needs. The Sun emits light and the Moon reflects it. Each month, our luminaries embrace in a different sign at the New Moon. The sky is dark as they whisper secrets to each other. Our conscious and unconscious minds have an opportunity to harmonize on their mutual desires. The light grows during the waxing phases and we begin to take action, make choices and drive to fulfill the aspirations set in motion. At the Full Moon, they oppose each other at the maximum distance apart. We gain perspective, celebrate wins and release what no longer serves us. As the light wanes we course correct and begin to seek new experiences. The conversation evolves as the zodiac signs change and the lights excite the different houses of our natal chart.

Eclipses are intensified New and Full Moons. When these lunations activate our natal charts especially when near planets or angles, unexpected beginnings and surprise endings occur. We feel an internal push that leads to life changing decisions or are impacted by the choices of others.

The lunar nodes are two invisible points where the paths of the Sun and Moon around the Earth intersect. They are always at the same degree in opposing signs and represent our soul’s journey. These points travel through the zodiac in reverse and change signs every 18 months. The collective will experience events that highlight the characteristics of the signs. We fare best when we learn and implement the positive traits of north node’s sign. The shadow side of the south node’s sign is what we need to leave behind. Eclipses happen when lunations are near these destiny points. Fated world events are often set into motion.

Join us for Eclipse Workshop December 1st 6p CST

Since May 4, 2020 and until January 18, 2022, the north node transits fact gathering Gemini and the south, philisophical Sagittarius. We are all called to cultivate a beginner mindset, educate ourselves and take in new data. For success, releasing outdated and entrenched dogma is required.

Sagittarius rules the law, police, and ideology. Racism, vigilantism, and police brutality are shadows. George Floyd’s murder by a police officer and the chaotic events that followed coincided with the first eclipse of this nodal transit. During the final eclipse season, the US will deal with the verdict’s from two highly publicized and racially charged murder trials. Kyle Rittenhouse, the teen who traveled to BLM protests and killed two people in Wisconsin will learn his fate soon. As will the two men who hunted down and killed unarmed Ahmaud Arbery, a black man they suspected of theft.

Eclipse season occurs twice a year and lasts for 31 – 37 days. During this time emotions can run high. Get enough sleep, eat healthfully, exercise and practice grounding activities to manage the energy. Most importantly, stay present with what you and society are experiencing.

When the New Moon is within 18º of the north or south node, we have a Solar Eclipse. In this alignment, the Moon moves between the Sun and the Earth. In essence the Sun’s light is eclipsed and cut off from us. When the transmission returns, something has changed and what was before is no longer. There are typically 2 and up to 5 solar eclipses annually. The next one is at 12º Sagittarius is on December 3rd at 11:42pm PT.

Lunar eclipses happen when the opposing luminaries are each within 12º of a node during a full moon. The Earth lines up between them, blocks the Sun’s light and casts a shadow on the Moon. There are usually 1 to 3 in a year. The next on is at 27º Taurus on November 19th at 12:57am PT.

Check your natal chart for the house locations of 12º Sagittarius and 27º Taurus. You may make decisions or experience unexpected events related to the topics of the relevant houses. Some people will receive marriage proposals, pregnancy news, find a new house, land that ideal job or move across country. Others will undergo jarring losses.

Whether they impact your life like a drizzly day, bring the pot at the end of the rainbow or an upending tsunami, we are all called to consider the karmic push of the lunar nodes. What have you learned about the Gemini/ Sagittarius axis of information during the last year and a half? How has the experience of these themes enriched your life?

Aura Type, Strategy and Authority are the most important awareness tools to experiment with and are the foundation of living your design. Profile is also an important aspect to be aware of in the bodygraph. This awareness of the profile allows a person to step more fully into what is natural for them, their way of being, and to release what is not natural for them and not how they are designed to operate. [Do you want to take a tour of the bodygraph in our membership area? November-only]

We are here to love ourselves deeply, and this shows us the path.

What is a Profile?Your bodygraph gives many lenses to understand and experience the true self. [New to HD? Do you want to start with this beginners article and aura type podcast episode?]

Similar to signs in astrology, a person’s Profile is like the costume they wear while learning to play specific roles in their life. Think about it like this: Profile is how we go about life. We share certain characteristics with others, like those with the same Type and Authority as ours, but Profile takes us on very different paths. A 1/ 3 Projector has a different path and way of being than a 2/ 4 Projector, for example. Additionally, we may find that we really understand and connect with others with the same profile, or the same Profile lines – even if they’re a different type.

The profile itself is not one’s purpose, it’s how the person will navigate toward their purpose, and is how they operate naturally. The profile also describes the genetic characteristics imprinted on the person, the particular angle of geometry, the unique orientation with which they came into this life. There is much to discover within one’s profile.

Your Profile has two numbers The Profile lines are based on the six lines of the hexagram in the iChing. There are twelve potential Profile combinations. These combinations are represented by two numbers.

  • 1st number – Comes from the Sun and Earth lines on the Personality side of the bodygraph [the top two boxes on the black, right side of the bodygraph]. You’re likely ‘aware’ of the expression of this number, as the black/ Personality activations in our chart are conscious. You can read the description of it below.
  • 2nd number – Comes from the Sun and Earth lines on Design side [the top two boxes on the red, left side of your chart]. You’re likely ‘not as aware’ of the expression of this number in your chart, as the red/ Design activations in our chart are unconscious. You will understand it more over time as you experiment.

Profile Lines (using the House Metaphor)(Reminder: HD has it’s own language that often doesn’t translate directly into what we use the word for in regular language.)

  • Line 1 Investigator – Foundation of the house

Investigator, insecure until an authority, introspective – will listen in order to learn, research and study driven, secure foundation for what can be spread tribally, fundamentals/ details.

  • Line 2 Hermit – Window on first level of the house

Hermit, the natural, internal creativity, just doing their own thing, leave me alone, shyness/ boldness, others need to break barrier first, always noticed, here to get the calling from the tribe, looking for harmony, unsure of skills until further development, about timing. Projection outward.

  • Line 3 Martyr – Stairs from 1st to 2nd level (transition between levels)

Martyr, anarchist, discovering what doesn’t work, pessimistic but persistent, adaptable, bonds made and broken, must learn on their own, mutative, individual, externally creative, material plane.

  • Line 4 Opportunist – foundation of 2nd floor

External influence through friendship, here to spread foundational research when it’s ready, network, social but also people fatigue, influence, friend. Externalizes foundation through network of opportunity.

  • Line 5 Heretic – window on 2nd floor of house

Influence the collective, Universalization, practical (hero thru practicality), aware, can be paranoid b/c of projection, wants attention from others, capacity to universalize. Projection inward (receives), projection is seductive, projection is not what’s real – like the savior sought after.

  • Line 6 Role Model – the roof outside the house

Role model, optimism, objectivity, trust themselves or not, transition to the future, living example.

Tripartite Life Force process – first 30 years is a 3rd line experience (trying things, “mistakes”, can take that pessimism into 2nd phase of life)

– ages 30-50 we are on the roof (watching, seeing things in a new way, integrating first 30y, contemplating entire scope of things)

– 50+ we are flowering, time to come down off the roof, and be the role model by being ourselves.

A Glimpse at the 12 Profiles

Oh! I really do have a place.Through awareness of the profile mechanics, we can realize we each came into this life in a very specific place.

We can live against this, against our very nature, unaware, homogenized – in our thinking, being and seeing. This will bring us resistance in the form of frustration, bitterness, anger, and disappointment. And we will not live the life that is meant for us.

Or, we can live it fully in alignment, in our fullest potential as a differentiated being – thinking, being, and seeing in the unique way we are designed to. This will bring us satisfaction, success, surprise or peace. And we will feel it – finally, we will be living the life that is meant for us.

We are here to love ourselves deeply, and this shows us the path.

Enjoy the ride!

The Bigger PictureEven though tension is building for a final difficult transit in December, we’re experiencing Future Nostalgia: a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the future. Here’s why…

Trigger, or Medicine Bag?We all have ‘those days’ where something catches us off-guard. When an emotional trigger is hit, can you see it as a medicine bag this time? These ‘triggers’ are helpers. Also: Watch out for compulsive behaviors and a need to place meaning on things that may have none. The metaphysical megaphone is prime for making mountains out of molehills, and oppositely – overlooking major things that require your attention, and overcoming the odds. Bet on the underdog this month. [Jupiter semisquare Chiron ℞ releases November 17]

Blast from the Past Shared memories, learning from the past, healing with ancestor work, and beginning new mentor relationships are an optimal way to work with the planets in November. [Saturn sextile Chiron ℞ releases November 26]

The field of infinite wisdom, where all things are possible. This combination allows you to sense what great things are possible. Tune into the field of all possibilities and remain optimistic – it’s your secret weapon for manifesting exactly what you wish for the future. [Jupiter semisextile Pluto releases November 27]

Mercury is in Scorpio through November 24.

Circle November 6 as a potential “best day”
Mercury sextiles Venus: Ease, harmony, flow. It’s a good day for a good day. Shop the sales, find deals at vintage markets, and interesting items at garage or estate sales. If you’re organizing, and you don’t love it, let someone else have it: it’s an equally good time to put your unwanted things on the market and clear your clutter. It’s amazing what a clean ‘junk’ drawer can do for the mind.

November 10: Caution LightsThings get heated, accidents are more likely, and tempers flare. Stay hydrated and pack your patience. Make wishes around healthy choices in food and sensuality, no longer playing the victim, standing in your worth and power, feeling richly rooted.

Sun semisquare Venus on the 19th too: Notice where you might have been denying yourself. We all deserve more unconditional love, not less. If it’s moody out there, it’s probably moody ‘in here’. The ho’oponopono prayer helps us all: I’m sorry (responsibility). Please forgive me (forgiveness). Thank you (gratitude). I love you (love).
