I am thrilled to be joined by Michael Mirdad. Michael talks about when events occur in our lives that we don't recognize or understand. These events situations, whether large or small may show up once, or repeat, and can seemingly ripple into every facet of our lives. When this happens we are left shaking our heads, asking ourselves why? Wondering why me? We begin self talk, rationalizing, trying to make sense of this. We try day after day to rise above, and no matter what we do nothing goes right. Really? Why cant I get a break? We can often experience, fatigue, emptiness, sadness, a sense of depression and disorientation. This is what Michael calls the Dark Night of the Soul. We talk about what it is, how to recognize this in our lives He shares the five stages that occur during this process. Why this process is even necessary for us to go through, what to do when you're experiencing it. How long does this last? Is there anything we can do to help ease this?
Karen and Colin Archipley created Archi's Acres in 2006, as Colin returned from his third combat tour in Iraq. The Archipley's original plan after Colin completed his military service was to be a husband-wife team helping with real estate sales and loans. But when he returned started working the farm that's when everything changed. What they've done is created a new way of transitioning the veteran community. What they have found in the case of PTSD is that the diagnosis isn't being made until a year or two after discharge. In part that diagnosis results from a failure to re-integrate the veterans back into civilian life through occupational transition. He said When you start doing multiple deployments your personality changes, and you get separated from the general public. Today they serve many in the Veterans Sustainable Agriculture Training (VSAT) provides military veterans a transition to civilian life.

I had the pleasure to visit Windrush Farm located in North Andover Massachusetts. I sit down to talk with Mandy Hogan, Executive Director, and Jenna Turcotte, Program Director about Windrush Farm.
We talk about Windrush Farms history, learn what therapeutic riding is, who it benefits, the wide array of people who this farm serves, as well as the many success stories of those who've spent time here. They are a non profit farm specializing in teaching, physically emotionally and learning disabled children and adults, as well as Wounded Warriors. They provide an array of educational services and therapeutic activities to more than 2,056 children and adults- including their families. Windrush offers lessons for those with and without special needs, summer programs, volunteer opportunities, and hipportherapy. It is often time spent here whether in the barn or back in the saddle where the transformation begins.
Their motto is Changing lives one stride at a time.
I am joined this week with Sean VanGerena. Sean's story is powerful, and inspiring to say the least. Some people say I'm lucky. Others believe there is a plan for me and I'm blessed. I would agree with it all. On November 1, 2008 he was involved in a traumatic accident, a roll-over and sustained multiple injuries including: a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Broken Neck (C-6 Incomplete/Ambulating Quad) along with multiple strokes. Prior to his accident in November Sean dreamed of being an Ironman. His life revolved around running and being physically strong. He was a single Dad, self employed and very independent. After his accident in the hospital his family was told if he survived, he may never walk again, and would probably need to live in a full time care facility. Learning his classification he would now have the opportunity to compete with others athletes with similar disabilities he switched his focus to Track Field and is training for the Paralympics 2016.
My guest Gina Springhower, her story is remarkable. Gina was involved in a car accident March 22, 2008 and with a one decision while out with friends, her life changed in a flash.

She has spent twenty - one years of her life walking, tumbling, dancing al of that quickly gone in a flash. Gina still has the heart and soul of a competitor which continues to serve her, along with her deep love for tumbling.
Gina defied the odds not limited by her diagnosis. In September 2014 she married John, the love of her life. She accomplished her goal of walking down the aisle preserving with the heart of a athlete, champion making her dream a reality.
Now Gina is living fully with passion, purpose and is beginning a new journey. She has done numerous television interviews, as well being the featured guest on a well know day time talk show.
