We just gelled together, everyone kind of let loose and didn’t worry about who they came with, or how they didn’t want to make friends with other people- we were just one big group.
And the central theme , (un planned) seemed to center around connection.

We were thrilled to be asked to attend the Rise with Renasant Women’s Summit in Birmingham, Alabama this past week.
On Monday night they hosted a meet and greet with us, (flattered) and we were able to mix and mingle with the attendees. We met an amazing group of women and were so honored to be involved, and to be able to share in this time together.

In March of 2016, Patrick’s sister, Kelly, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She bravely fought her disease for over a year, but devastatingly passed away in April of 2017. Despite her prognosis, Kelly always found joy in her journey and touched many lives all over the world because of her positive outlook on life and vibrant personality. She almost always had a smile on her face, even at the end of her life, and was always concerned with the well-being of others.
Toward the end of her battle with cancer, Kelly’s family discovered cannabinoids. They have since started a small family hemp farm in West Tennessee to help people access high quality and sustainably grown hemp derived CBD products. In Kelly’s memory, they hope to give the opportunity to experience hemp derived CBD to as many people as possible.
As founder of the Rise with Renasant, a women-led initiative dedicated to empowering female leaders, achievers, innovators, and entrepreneurs across the southeastern region. Gaming Basics to Keep Your Family Playing Safe and Having Fun
When you’ve beaten Netflix and completed every craft project in the book, there’s only one thing left to keep your family from getting bored: play some video games together! Seriously, video games tend to get a bad rap, but enjoying games as a family can be a fun way to stay connected. You can even play games online with family and friends when getting together is not a safe option. Before you get started, however, you’re going to need a few essentials to keep gaming fulfilling, safe and healthy for everyone.
Some Basic Gaming Tech and Equipment
If it’s been a while since you’ve played video games, you should know that there are a ton of options when it comes to choosing a console. The Nintendo Switch seems to be one of the more popular choices for families, especially when younger kids are playing, but there are also newer consoles from Sega, Sony and Xbox. In fact, the Sega Genesis Mini is only $50 and will have you reliving some of your favorite childhood memories of Ecco the Dolphin and Toejam. If none of these systems sounds appealing, you can also opt for computer games, but you will want to invest in a quality monitor to help family players easily see what’s going on. There are plenty of budget-friendly monitors that include the high resolution and zero frame design features that will enhance your gaming experience, so don’t think you have to spend a fortune.
A Safe and Fast Internet Connection
Keep in mind that with so many frightening things going on in the world, digital security is paramount if your kids will be playing games online. That’s because there can be sketchy characters lurking around multiplayer games, and the internet in general. So if you plan on letting your little ones play online with their friends and family, make sure they are safely connected to the internet. Ideally, you also want a connection to be fast and reliable if you don’t want family game time to be interrupted. Consider upgrading to a fiber-optic connection that will give you the lightning-fast speed you need to avoid buffering and lag times during online play. Of course, an internet upgrade can also come in handy when you want to stream movies, podcasts and TV shows.
Family and Kid-Friendly Video Games
Once you have your console or monitor all set up, your kids are going to be begging to play their favorite games! Some consoles come with one or two games to get your family started, but you should pick up a few extra titles to keep everyone from getting bored. Family-friendly games that are all the rage right now include Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario Party for the Nintendo Switch. You can even use these multiplayer games to stay connected to grandparents and other loved ones who may live far away! If your family needs more relaxation than stimulation, online games like Tetris Effect and Donut County can provide some much-needed soothing. You can also keep your kids learning at home with educational and engaging video games like Minecraft
Healthy Eating and Fitness Routines
There are definitely more than a few games that can get your family up off the couch and moving, but you may need to take some additional measures to help your kids stay healthy. So try to schedule in more active outdoor activities for your family. Even playing outside with your kids can count as exercise! If you need to stay inside, there are video games that can keep your family active as well. Katie has done such GORGEOUS shoots and is touted as one of the South’s most stylish young women to follow- but before her styling days she just simply loved to cook. Here’s one of her MUST HAVE recipes- Homemade chicken pot pie. Katie’s Chicken Pot PieChicken Potpie
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
5 Tbs flour 1/2 cup madeira or dry sherry
2 1/2 cups chicken stock
1 tsp chopped fresh thyme
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp fresh pepper
1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
6 cups shredded cooked chicken
1 cup frozen peas
1 cup shredded carrots
1 (17 ounce package frozen puff pastry
1 egg
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Melt butter in a 4-quart saucepan. Whisk in flour. Cook for 2 minutes or until bubbly, whisking constantly. Add the madeira. Add the chicken stock gradually, whisking constantly. Cook for 4 to 6 minutes or until thickened and smooth, whisking constantly. Stir in thyme, salt and pepper. Add the cream gradually, stirring constantly. Stir in chicken, peas and carrots. Cook for 20 minutes. Divide evenly among 6 to 8 individual bowls.
Meanwhile, thaw the puff pastry according to the package directions. Unfold 1 pastry sheet at a time on a lightly floured surface. Roll out slightly. Repeat with the remaining pastry. Cut 3 to 4 circles from each pastry sheet in a diameter slightly larger than the bowls. Moisten the edge of each circle with water and drape over the top of the bowl, sealing or fluting the edge. Cut out decorative shapes, such as leaves, from the pastry scraps with a sharp knife if desired. Brush the cutouts with water and gently lay on top. Place the bowls on a baking sheet. Combine egg with a small amount of water in a bowl and mix well. Brush over tops of potpies. Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 40 minutes.
