Special guest Sean Gillespie shares his incredible story. From #abuse & #trauma to a lengthy prison sentence for #hate crimes to life altering positive change. Sean’s journey will shake you to your core and stir your soul. As a former neo-Nazi skinhead and member of the white supremacist organization, Aryan Nations, Mr. Gillespie's story will take you through an incredible path from a world of hate into a world of righteous change. A former leader, recruiter, organizer, propagandist, and violent terrorist for the white supremacist and neo-Nazi movement, he promoted hate, bigotry, and racism. He was sentenced to 39yrs in the Federal prison system for a racially motivated hate crime in 2004. Mr. Gillespie spent a total of 16 years in prison, 8 of which were served in America's most secure facility, A.D.X. Super-Maximum Control Unit. Mr. Gillespie was released from prison in 2020, after winning an appeal he filed pro se. Sean got a second chance on life and has been able to overcome the mistakes he made early on. After turning his back on the white supremacist movement in 2008, Mr. Gillespie has been able to do a considerable amount of work to combat and fight hatred and extremism. He has assisted in the teaching of criminology students and written numerous articles against hatred. Mr. Gillespie was featured in the award-winning documentary series 'Indivisible: Healing Hate' (2022, Paramount Plus) narrated by Mandy Patinkin, as well as news interviews both locally and nationally.

For 25 years, Jeff Schoep was infamous for stoking the flames of division and hate, as the National Leader of America’s largest neo-Nazi party, National Socialist Movement (NSM). Through interpersonal relationships and dialogue with those he once vilified, Jeff’s life was changed forever. In 2019, Jeff left the NSM and publicly denounced the ideology he once espoused. Once America’s most notorious neo-Nazi, now a consultant for the Simon Wiesenthal Center and an inspirational speaker for Conscious Campus, Jeff Schoep tirelessly holds talks, lectures and workshops from his unique vantage point. He speaks with students, communities, and law enforcement about the dangers of hate and extremism. In 2020, he founded Beyond Barriers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to countering extremism and helping others change their lives. He once was infamous – today, he is deadly serious about combating extremism. https://jeffschoep.com Follow Jeff Schoep: https://linktr.ee/jeffschoep

His latest book, Monster of Their Own Making, describes his experience as a young working class man in northern England when he became active in Britain's biggest white nationalist party. Understand the extremist mentality from someone who has been there. Kerry Noble was a leader within CSA (the Covenant, Sword & Arm of the Lord) in northern Arkansas from 1977-1985. He is the author of Tabernacle of Hate: Seduction Into Right-Wing Extremism. In 1984 Kerry came within seconds of committing what would have been the largest domestic terrorist act in US history. Listen to his story, what changed him, and how others can change, in this first episode of Kerry's new Podcast, Noble Heart.

Kerry Noble joins co-hosts Jeff Schoep & Acacia Dietz for episode 19 of #BeyondBarriersPodcast. Since 2001, Kerry has been speaking out against hate, violence and the radical right. Kerry was involved with a group called CSA (Covenant, Sword & Arm of the Lord) during the late 1970's until they were raided by the FBI in April of 1985. CSA was a racist, paramilitary, survivalist, extremist group in rural Arkansas that believed in Christian Identity (a racist offshoot of Christianity). In this episode, Kerry tells of how in June 1983 he came within seconds of what could have been, at that time, the largest domestic terrorist act in US history, when he took a bomb into a gay church. But how the actions of the people in the church changed his perspective and he did not go through with the plan. This is an episode you won't want to miss.
Kerry Noble has published two books "Tabernacle of Hate: Seduction Into Right-Wing Extremism" and "Tabernacle of Hope: Bridging Your Darkened Past Toward a Brighter Future" which can be found on Amazon.com - Check out Kerry on Twitter: @KerryNoble_CSA

How one survivor found his way home and is now raising awareness and speaking out against the genocide of the Canadian Indigenous people.

"The Sixties Scoop refers to a practice that occurred in Canada of taking, or "scooping up," Indigenous children from their families and communities for placement in foster homes or adoption. Despite the reference to one decade, the Sixties Scoop began in the late 1950s and persisted into the 1980s. It is estimated that a total of 20,000 aboriginal children were taken from their families and fostered or adopted out to primarily white middle-class families as part of the Sixties Scoop..." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixties_Scoop

In this episode, Jeff and Acacia break down echo chambers and explain what those barriers that individuals erect in their own minds that keep a person trapped in extremism.
