"One of the things that I have thought about a lot in the last couple of years is about the complexity of beauty and about how I really care a lot about beauty in my work, but I really care about a certain kind of beauty. Which is to say, the kind of beauty that contains a complete truth. And that can include tragedy, suffering, violence, all kinds of things that we don't want to think about or look at. That when I think about what true beauty is, like the kind of true beauty that connects us to ourselves, it's the kind of beauty that contains the wholeness of truth, but still sees it as beautiful."
