The world offers us a life of pleasures, riches, and security but without God. God makes us a better offer. It’s a life that may come with affliction and reproach, but it brings greater riches than anything that the world can ever offer. It’s a life that has encountered the invisible Christ.
Every marriage must be fortified. The Enemy is always looking for breaches and weaknesses to find a way to sneak in and destroy us. Without proper fortifications, it’s a matter of time; but, with God’s help, our marriages can withstand any trial or temptation that may come our way.
The call to be a disciple is not some special or exclusive class of Christianity. It is the normal Christian life. The reason many believers are missing the mark is because we have decided what is essential and what is optional when it comes to following Christ. There are no such categories in the gospel.
God the Father prunes and cultivates us in order that we may bear more fruit. He also removes the dead branches that appear to be connected to the vine but are not. To reject Christ is to be severed from him forever. On the contrary, to receive Christ is to be sealed unto him forever with abundant fruits.
God wants the life of Jesus the vine to flow through us the branches and bear fruits that will be a blessing to others. The branch doesn’t consume its own fruits. One more thing: All we must do is abide in Jesus, and he promises to bring forth the fruits. The branch doesn’t stress about bearing fruits either.
Christ is all-sufficient for all our essential needs. He is not just one among many sources. He is not just next in line of the many sources. He is not just better than all the other sources. He is the only true, promised, and ultimate source of all-sufficiency.
As we embark upon this theme of “Abundant” in the new year, it is vital that we know that “Abiding is the key to Abundance.” It is only when we remain in Christ by loving and obeying him that we bear much fruit.
We were created to walk in fellowship with God. Unfortunately, sin has separated us from him, leaving us stranded alone. Jesus came to reconcile us to God through his sacrifice on the cross. He is Immanuel, God with us.
The good news of salvation is that Jesus not only came to take the penalty of our sins, but he also came to free us from the repercussions of sin. Shame and blame, anger and fear, stubbornness and bitterness, little white lies and big fat lies, selfishness and self-worship are all coming from the Garden. The gospel also helps us overcome them.
The ultimate rivalry is between Jesus and Satan. Unlike earthly rivalries, Satan is no match for Jesus. While Satan is just a fallen created being, Jesus is God’s Son, the King of kings, and he has already won the victory.
Life is wonderful, but it has been damaged by the fall. We try to enjoy life with the right foot, but repeatedly we are reminded by the left foot that not all of life is wonderful. Therefore, Jesus came – to fix what was damaged in the Garden of Eden.
God wants us to simply trust and obey him. Failure to trust and obey God leads to sin. Sin is senseless. It only brings death. Through Christ, we have forgiveness and the power to conquer sin.
Biblical Marriage is a two-person team where the husband leads by sacrificial love and the wife submits with godly respect. This is only possible where both have put on Christ, and the Spirit of Christ fills and empowers them.
Marriage was God’s answer to man’s loneliness. It was meant to reflect the unity in the Godhead. Unfortunately, sin has corrupted it beyond recognition. Only the grace of God through Christ can restore the original picture.
Our society and culture are increasingly trying to neutralize gender identities. Both scripturally and scientifically, transgenderism is unnatural, inappropriate, and sinful. We are to be compassionate towards those struggling with gender dysphoria, but we are also to stand firm in our conviction of biblical gender distinctions. Compassion without the gospel of Jesus Christ is collaboration.
Our society and culture are increasingly trying to normalize homosexuality and homosexual marriage. Both scripturally and scientifically, homosexuality is unnatural, inappropriate, and sinful. Nonetheless, every person can find hope and healing through Jesus Christ.
The real battleground in some of the recent cultural attacks against Christianity is on Biblical Authority. It stems from seeing Truth as being distinct from Authority. To the contrary, God is the source of all truth, and he is the ultimate authority. Hence, the Bible is the truth of God tested over time, and it claims authority over our lives. Failure to obey the Bible is failure to submit to God and refusal to walk in the truth.
God has made us in his image. The image was never lost at the Fall, just marred. Through Jesus, we are restored and made new creations in the likeness of God. Evolution from ape-like creatures or “cavemen” is not only false, but it also devalues the image of God in us and seriously undermines the gospel.
The Biblical account of the creation of animals testifies to the creative genius and power of God. The animals are a reminder of the providential care of God, the effects of sin, and the coming glorious redemption through Jesus Christ.
The origin of life has both fascinated and baffled scientists and researchers for a long time. They keep trying to find an alternative to God and they keep running into dead ends. But there is something far more fascinating and baffling than physical life. It is spiritual life. It is the supernatural work of God in the life of a person that changes them from a sinner to a child of God.
God has exclusively designed the Earth to sustain and nurture life. Also, God has exclusively designed human beings to inhabit the earth and enjoy this world. Belief in alien life not only distorts the truth about creation, but it also devalues us and distracts us from the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ever since the beginning of time, human beings have been fascinated by space, especially the sun, the moon, and the stars. God has made them to give us light, signs, and seasons, and time. They testify to his benevolence and mercy, even towards those who reject him. They even remind us of the glorious resurrection coming for each of us.
The attack on September 11th was the deadliest terrorist attack in history. The attack was on much more than life and property. It was on our American way of life, a life that our founding fathers envisioned, and many gave their lives for it.
God has made every blade of grass, every flower in the field, every fruit on the tree, and every bush and mighty oak in the forest. They all testify to his SAP – his sustenance, his artistry, and his promises towards us. Let’s not forget – Jesus bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness.
The whole creation testifies to the handiwork of God. Even the earth, the mountains and the valleys, the plains and the plateaus, give testimony to God’s power and majesty. No wonder that when the Pharisees told Jesus to rebuke his disciples for crying “Hosanna,” he replied, “if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”
The complexity and the immensity of the universe brings us to our knees and causes us to raise our hands in worship. It reminds us of how small we are and how big God is. No wonder the psalmist sings, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the expanse shows His handiwork.”
God could have created the world in a split-second or in billions of years, but by choosing to create in six 24-hour days, he was accommodating to our capacity and limits and even setting a pattern for us. It is like the incarnation where Jesus became like us to be our substitute and set a pattern for us on how to live.
God is the author of life. He gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Not only the heavens and the earth testify to his power to give life, but also every lost soul dead in trespasses and sins that finds salvation through his Son Jesus Christ.
God is the author of time. He gave us the gift of time so we could live and enjoy his creation. God is timeless and unchangeable, but he chose to enter time and became like us to save us through his Son Jesus. One more thing – We are time-bound. We don’t know the future. “Choose this day whom you will serve.”
If there is one book in the Bible that has been a target of attack more than any other, it is the book of Genesis. That’s because it is both the account of our origin and our fall. In other words, it tells us how we got here and what happened to us. To get this wrong will eventually cause us to get the gospel wrong.
Modern Science was birthed in the cradle of Christianity as believers in the Western culture began to explore their world with the conviction that the Creator God was a God of order. They believed that the created world did not have to be feared or worshipped. Instead, it could be studied, and its power and resources harnessed for the betterment of humanity. Rejection of biblical truths will return us to the dark ages. True scientific discoveries do not endanger our faith but enhance it.
Doctrine is often looked upon as old-fashioned, divisive, and boring. To the contrary, doctrine is essential to the gospel and impacts eternity. Doctrines have to be learned, defended, and reaffirmed, especially the first-rank ones. The Holy Spirit guides us in true doctrine.
The Bible is unlike any book in the world. It is the word of God without any errors, and it claims authority over our individual lives, church, and world. In fact, submission to scriptures is submission to God, more specifically to Jesus Christ.

Before we can understand and evaluate the Content of any holy book, we need to understand the form of its Revelation. In other words, before we can open and decide if a holy book is God’s word, we need to understand how it came to us. Unlike other holy books, biblical revelation testifies to God’s holiness, love, and grace towards fallen sinful human beings. It is his rescue manual to save us and draw us to himself.

Salvation is God’s miraculous work of grace through Jesus Christ in the life of a person. Nonetheless, there are certain observable factors that lead to the decision to receive Christ and remain in him. Our upbringing and the evidences we encounter in life determine our degree of belief in Christianity.
The answer to unjust suffering and persecution is fearlessness and immediate and reasoned defense. Fear will keep you from contending for the faith.
Ours is the Age of Paradoxes, much more than at any other time in history. Especially in the post-2020 world, we are smarter and dumber, united and divided, bold and fearful, and woke and wicked, all at the same time. It is vital that we adopt those paradoxes that please God and fulfill his purpose in his world. It is vital that we adapt to our new setting but still maintain our old convictions.
The Good Life is attainable for God’s people. In fact, God desires all his people to live the good life. He has given us the proper steps to having the good life, but it begins with the fear of the Lord and leads to the redemption of the soul.
Just like moms know us at our worst and still love us and come to our rescue, God also knows at our worst and still loves us and comes to our rescue. In fact, the primary way we encounter God is in times of trouble when he comes to our rescue. Worship and praise are a natural outcome of a people who have been overawed by God’s rescue in their life.
Healthy fear keeps us in step, but unhealthy fear causes us to misstep. When we are faced with the unfamiliar, it can drive us to isolation and even temporarily block our ability to reason. In such moments, we need those who will breathe godly courage back into our lives.
Conflict emanates from our sinful, selfish nature and it is fueled by our failure to ask God for His will for us. Unfortunately, tendencies towards conflict start early and infect every aspect of life – family, church, community, workplace, and nation. Only those who are transformed by the gospel can truly have one mind and transform conflicts into blessings.
A major ingredient to making marriage work is similar beliefs and convictions regarding marriage. In marriages where it does not start out that way, it requires an extra effort by the believing spouse so that the unbelieving spouse can see their example and come to Christ. In fact, even believing marriages lose their focus at times and need a course correction regarding the roles of husbands and wives.
We should honor our parents, but we should be careful about following their trajectory, especially when it comes to marriage and family. Instead, we are to choose to be daughters of Sarah and sons of Abraham. In other words, seek to be a submissive wife like Sarah and an understanding husband like Abraham.
When Jesus took God’s wrath upon himself for our sins, he became the rightful major shareholder in the profits, which is us. Not only that, he has also plundered the power brokers and rulers of the world. In other words, the power of the demonic hordes that lie behind the power structures of the world has been broken.
Human beings are like sheep. We are easily led astray by our sin. We are prone to wander and get lost. Jesus came to bring us into his fold by taking our punishment of sin upon himself. He became our lamb unto slaughter. By trusting in him, we can be saved.
God is holy and we are sinful. Sin deserves God’s judgment. We are under his wrath. Jesus took God’s punishment of sin upon himself. All we have to do is trust him as our Savior and King.
God’s expectation of holiness is beyond us. We are totally inadequate and fall short of God’s standard. Only by completely depending on Christ’s sacrifice can we make it. He took our vicarious punishment for the penalty of sin.
Sin not only brings God’s judgment upon us, but it also causes us to go astray. Jesus came not only to redeem us from the penalty of sin but also to provide for us a pattern to trace our life.
This weekend‘s message is titled The Elijah Moment. Too often in life, we mistakenly think we are alone on the battlefield. This passage from 1 Kings reminds us that God has raised up people to help us.
We are in part 2 of our message titled “OPERATION SAFEGUARD.” Last weekend, Nicole and I focused on the 10 kinds of homes we come from that impact what kind of marriages we will have. In today’s message, we will focus on the danger of isolation and the ways to intimacy in marriage.

Today’s message is this: Every one of us is in darkness until God calls us into his marvelous light through Jesus Christ. Light is the realization of our new status in Christ: chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, and his own special people.
When the world and even our loved ones evict us because of our faith, we are not left homeless in this life. Instead, we are carefully chosen by God to join Jesus in building our spiritual house where God dwells. We are precious to him.
During times of trials, fear can cause us to take refuge in our old nature and act the fool. Instead, we should cast aside the old, take on the mind of a newborn, and be totally dependent on the gracious care of God.

If we look at our trials only through the lens of our personal story, we will become fearful and hopeless. Instead, we have to look at our trials through the lens of our collective story; then we see that we have faced worse situations before and God has been faithful. The foundation of our faith is not our own experiences but the collective experience of God’s people in the Scriptures. If he was faithful then, he will be faithful now and in the future. I can pray to him in confidence and know that he will answer the prayer of the clean heart.

Throughout history, people have tried to prove their significance and leave their legacy. Unfortunately, they’ve all failed. There is only one who is truly significant and whose legacy has no end. His name is Jesus. His coming was promised in the Scriptures, sought by the wise men, accompanied by celestial signs, and protected by the angels. He alone is the legitimate king, and he wants to bring his rule and legacy to your heart and mine.
This weekend, we continue through the first chapter of 1 Peter. Peter shows his readers the importance of being sober-minded and having the resolve to stay focused on God and what He is doing, even in the face of uncertainty. This is such a critical reminder, not only for Peter’s audience, but for us as well. The title of this weekend’s message is “FIRM RESOLVE.”
As they loved and trusted Jesus through their trials, his invisible presence became visible and filled their hearts with joy inexpressible and full of glory. Not only that, but they also received the assurance that they would receive the end of their faith—the salvation of their souls. Are you bogged down with the immediate? Can you see what God is doing through your storm? Can you see what God is doing through the storm of 2020? What are doing for those who are coming behind you? Are you saved?
How we respond to the trials of life reveals the content and the quantity of our faith. Genuine faith makes the invisible Christ visible and fills our hearts with joy. It even reveals our true destination. How is your joy level this morning? Are you facing temptations or trials? Can you see Christ? Have you ever seen Christ? Are you saved? Do you love and trust him?
Unlike earthly hopes, the hope that comes from God never disappoints. Biblical hope is not based on earthly expectations and fears. It is based on the solid foundation of God himself. In other words, the hope that God gives is much more than the anticipation of something in the future. It is a deep personal trusting relationship with God. Do you have this living hope? Are you looking forward to the inheritance? Are you born again?
Our identity should be ultimately rooted in God and his salvation in our lives through Jesus Christ. Do you have God’s grace and peace? Are you saved? Through Christ you can have grace and peace.
Receiving admonition is a mark of a mature Christian. Being filled with the Holy Spirit and being mightily used by God will not exempt you from being admonished. In fact, the more you serve, the more chances there are of being admonished. How you take admonition says a lot about where you are spiritually. How do you take admonishment? Are you saved? Do you have the Holy Spirit? It’s only through Christ that you can have him.
God desires childlike obedience from each of us. Self-confidence causes us to disobey, which results in failure and disillusionment. But, God knows our hearts, and if we let him, he is more than willing to lead us to the path of restoration. Have you messed up because of self-confidence? Has the Enemy been using this to keep you captive? Today’s the day to find restoration.
When Christ calls us, he calls us to follow and remain with him. To follow is to begin the journey with him, but to remain is to develop a personal relationship with him. What are you seeking in life? Are you willing to follow Christ? Are you willing to remain with him? Are you built upon him? Are you saved by him?
Government and political institutions are not necessarily divine or evil. Christians should be involved in government and politics, not just for the gospel, freedom, or values sake, but, because it is a service unto God. The ultimate goal is not to control government or to impose Christianity but to positively influence government for the good of all in Christ's world. Where do you stand? With Christ in His world? How will you vote? With those who will stand with Christ in His world? Is Christ your Savior and King?
A right view of the Christ-Church relationship will not only impact the husband-wife relationship but it was also impact the parent-child relationship. In other words, how you raise your children is directly impacted by how you see your marriage, and how you see your marriage is directly impacted by how you understand the mystery between Christ and the church. Ultimately, our kids are also a display of the gospel of Christ. Did your kids learn what is means to follow Christ and not the world? Did you breathe courage and faith into them? Did you teach them that the church is essential? Do you know Christ as your Savior and King? God's grace is available to you.
A marriage is much more than a man and a woman living together in a contractual and consensual relationship. It is a living illustration of the mystery that was conceived when Adam took Eve as his bride and it was revealed when Christ gave his life for his bride, the church. Marriage is the re-enactment of the relationship between Christ and the church. Ultimately, marriage is a display of the gospel of Christ. Husbands, how do you see your wives? Wives, how do you see your husbands? Believers, how do you see the mystery of the Christ-Church relationship? Do you belong to the Church? Are you saved?
The church is essential. In God’s divine plan, he has chosen the church to make known his mystery and wisdom to the principalities and powers of the evil domain. When the church is the church we are supposed to be, united and holy, then the spiritual rulers and authorities behind the power brokers of the world know that Jesus is in charge and they are not. For the church to shut down its activities is to give free reign to evil in the world. Are you part of the mystery of Christ? Are you saved? How important is the church to you? Are you aware that we are in a spiritual battle?
The Church is not second tier in the Christian life. It is top tier. The Church is the body of Christ. Can you imagine a person with just a head but no body? The Church is also the Bride of Christ. Can you imagine a wedding with just a groom but no bride? Everywhere Christ is, the Church is; and everywhere the Church is, Christ is. Christ and the Church are inseparable. The Church is essential. In fact, the Christ-Church relationship is the model and power for all our relationships. Is the Church essential to you? Is the Church essential to your family? Are you part of the Church? Are you saved?
God's guardian presence is still with his people. It is not up in a cloud somewhere but in the heart of every believer through the Holy Spirit. It is the presence of Christ, guarding, guiding, and speaking to us. Christ is our true guardian through the journey of life. Can you see Jesus? Can you sense His guarding and guiding presence? Can you hear His voice? Only through the Holy Spirit, you can. He only comes into our lives when we receive Jesus as our Savior and King. Are you saved?
Life is a journey full of choices. Unfortunately, poor choices can lead to years of regret and pain. But, God can use even our failures to work all things together for good if we let him. How do you see your life's journey? Which stage are you in? Repercussion, Regrouping, Rerouting, or Reentry. Are you saved? Is Christ in your journey?
God has entrusted us with incredible power. It is not located in our minds or our biceps. It is located in our mouths. We can either use our words to breathe life or we can use our words to bring death. You don't have to be the smartest or the strongest person to have word power. How have your words been recently? Have you been wise with your words? What have you said about Jesus Christ? Is He your Savior? Is He your Master? Is He your King?
Adoption is that process where after God declares us righteous through Jesus Christ that he welcomes us into his family as his sons and daughters. He lays down his gavel as our judge and comes around to embrace us as our adopted father. Now, he wants us to go out and do the same to those who need an adopted father.
No matter what is happening in our nation today, don’t lose heart. We are still “One Nation Under God” and our best days are ahead. We need to look to the sovereign God for healing and hope. Are you praying for our nation? Are you hoping in his mercy on our nation? Are you saved?
America is not a perfect nation. It has its faults. The secret of our success in the face of some incredible odds is that we were built on the foundation of “One Nation Under God.” It is up to us, the church, to fix our faults by God’s help and continue to be that “One Nation Under God. Are you saved? Are you forgiven? Have you repented of your sins? Are you praying for healing in our nation?
In today’s message, we’re going to learn that when it says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” it’s not talking about overcoming incredible odds or reaching ambitious goals. It’s a declaration of the Christian’s ability to thrive whether one is down or abound. Have you learned how to abound in Christ? It’s not about having things or not having things. It’s about being content in Christ. Is Christ enough for you? Are you saved?
To rejoice through a crisis is a choice that every believer must make. If not, there will be fear and strife. It’s in choosing to rejoice that we have the peace of God and we can see the God of peace. How did you choose to face this crisis? Do you have a reason to rejoice? Are your sins forgiven? Are you saved?
The Christian life is a race. If we’re going to win the gold medal, Christ, we have no time to fuss with each other or to look back. Instead, we are to help each other press on to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of us. Will you win the gold medal? Who is winning? You cannot be in the race unless you are saved. Are you saved?
In the Christian life, we have to decide what really matters. What are the true gains in the Christian life? True Gains for a believer are knowing Christ and being found in him. Unfortunately, we substitute these gains for things that only lead to self-righteous pride and disunity.
We’ve often heard, “what you believe is how you behave.” That’s not exactly true. Unless the Holy Spirit has renewed your mind by what you believe, you will behave as you’ve always behaved. In other words, between belief and behavior, there is the becoming by the transformation of the mind through the Holy Spirit.
With the gospel, there are people who are so consumed with the gospel that they can’t help but talk about it all the time. They love sharing the gospel. They are gospel-centric. When you are around such people, you become just like them. You also become gospel-centric.
No matter what will become obsolete in this world with regards to technology and cultural habits, the church of Jesus Christ will never become obsolete. God has said in his word that his church will remain no matter what and the Gates of Hell will not prevail against it. Throughout the history of Christianity, peoples and governments have prognosticated the death of the gathered church. They died but the church still gathers and lives on.
Fear and hopelessness will keep you from becoming a herald of the resurrected king. Love is the only vaccine that will cure fear and faith is the only key that will unlock the door of hopelessness. Are you living in the grip of fear? Have you been plagued by hopelessness? Have you checked the level of God’s love in your heart lately? Are you plugged into his truth? Do you know Jesus? He loves you and he is the Truth. Are you saved?
Throughout our series titled "Hosanna," we've learned the different understandings of that word throughout Scripture. Salvation has always been on the heart of God and through Christ, we have victory over sin and the grave. This weekend, we will understand that the word "Hosanna" carries with it the idea of triumph. Jesus is the true king. You can either willingly accept Him as the Lord of your life or choose to reject Him, but either way, His reign will be established forever. On this Palm Sunday, Dr. Shah reminds us of goodness of our triumphant king!
In our first message, we learned that Hosanna means “God Save Us.” But, there is another meaning that developed for Hosanna and that is “Victory.” In fact, that’s the title of our message today. Here’s the gist of the message: There is no victory without sacrifice. First the cross and then the crown. It’s the crucified life that is the victorious life.
God’s salvation is full and free to every believer. In this week's message, Dr. Shah teaches us how His plan of salvation is something that has been around since the beginning.
Unfortunately, the one place we are the least discerning is in the area of our mind, what we believe, in doctrine. The Bible commands us to be discerning against false teachers and their doctrines. Failure to do so is to become a participant in their evil works.
In life, you need the right directions. Wrong directions or failure to follow the right directions can lead to disaster. The Bible is God’s right directions for our life every time. In fact, Jesus is the Way of life. But, he is much more than just our GPS. He is also our road and our destination; and, he never misleads us.
Life is a game that has its fouls and penalties. The Bible is God’s rule book on how to play the game of life. God is much more than just the rule maker, he is also the referee or the umpire who calls us out when we fail to follow his rules; and, unlike earthly umpires, he doesn’t have to look at the video replay. He calls it right every time.
You are the gatekeeper to your heart. You can either let in things that bring you closer to Christ or you can let in things that take you away from Christ. The attack is real, intense, constant, and the cost is heavy.
In life, people lack the right skills and a sense of discernment, and they make foolish and costly decisions. Skillful living comes when we turn to God for wisdom and guidance. More specifically, true wisdom is Christ. When he becomes our life, we begin to live skillfully.
The kingdom of God is like a wedding to which everyone is invited. Unfortunately, not everyone accepts the invitation. But, if you do accept the invitation, don’t forget it’s a gracious gift. Dress appropriately. Your confession may get you in but it’s your clothing that will keep you in. Are you dressed in Christ’s righteousness?
In ancient times, the laying of the cornerstone was a big deal in the construction of a building. Depending on the significance of a structure, there would be animal sacrifices and special rituals. The Bible calls Jesus our Chief Cornerstone. It means that he sets the level and the angle of our lives. If he is where he needs to be in our life, everything else will work out fine. If he is not, nothing else matters. Are you bearing fruits worthy of God? Is Jesus your Cornerstone?
Jesus, our Good Shepherd, knows each of his sheep by name. You can pretend to be his sheep but there is a day of judgment coming when he will identify his own and the test will be acts of compassion done in his name. Those who belong to him will receive an inheritance but those who don’t will receive everlasting fire. Which ones are you? Are you the sheep or are you the goat? Will you receive an inheritance or will you go into the everlasting fire? Are you saved?
Unlike earthly parents, God doesn’t want just the "change back". He wants us to make a profit with it by building his kingdom. In fact, Jesus has promised that He is returning soon and when He does, He will require an account of what we did with His money. Parables are like mirrors. They reflect who we are in the story. Are you the first two servants who doubled what their Master had given to them or are you the one who hid what was given? When Jesus returns, will he say to you “Well done, good and faithful servant” or will he call you a “Wicked and Lazy Servant?” Are you saved?
Christ is the bridegroom and we who believe in him are the wedding party. The groom has promised that he is coming but he hasn’t given us the exact time. We have to be prepared and we have to be watching. Are you prepared? Are you watching? Parables are like mirrors. When you peer into this wedding, what kind of a bridesmaid or groomsman are you? Are you ready and watching for the coming of Christ? Will he open the door for you or will he say “I do not know you”? Are you saved?
Earthly treasures cannot be permanently owned. What you treasure today will belong to someone else’s tomorrow. The only treasure that you can permanently own is what you put into heaven’s bank, the kingdom of God. Are you trusting in your riches? Are you saved? If tonight your soul is required of you, where will you go?
A true neighbor is one who shows mercy. Mercy is a distinguishing mark of those who have eternal life. If you need proof that you have eternal life, ask yourself, “Are you a neighbor?” “Do you show mercy to others?” “When was the last time you showed mercy to someone?” Are you the priest who passed by the other side? Are you the Levite who also passed by the other side? Or, are you the Good Samaritan who stopped and showed mercy? Are you a merciful person? Are you saved? If you need proof of eternal life, check your mercy record.
When it comes to our salvation, it is a free gift. It doesn’t cost us a thing to be saved but it cost Jesus his life. No, you don’t have to pay anything for your salvation but salvation means that now you are a disciple of Jesus and everything you have belongs to your Master. Have you counted the cost of discipleship?
There are many Christians who are the “Good Book” smart but they are a failure when it comes to daily life decisions. They have a lot of spiritual knowledge but no relational and financial wisdom. Are you the wise steward or a foolish one? Have you been a good steward of what God has blessed you with? How are your finances? How do you see money? Do you use money or love money? Do you have the true riches in Christ? Are you saved?
We compare ourselves to the weaknesses of others in order to make ourselves look better than we are. God does not borrow our scales to measure us. He has his own standard of measurement and he measures us individually. If you are quick to claim that you are the tax collector, do you give yourself a pass because of “what you’ve been through”? Are you saved? Pharisee or tax collector, both have to come to Christ.
This message is part 2 of our message titled “DEBT” in our series on the parables of Jesus. It’s about God’s forgiveness of our sin debt through Christ and our forgiveness of the sin debt of others towards us. Here’s the message in a nutshell: Through Christ, you can forgive anyone for anything but it’s a journey in which reconciliation may or may not be possible. Is there unforgiveness in your heart towards anyone? Are you forgiven?
Unless you understand how God has canceled your sin debt towards him through his son Jesus, you will never truly understand how to cancel the sin debt of others towards you. Are you the servant who was forgiven a big debt but went out and took his fellow servant by the throat for a small debt? Have you ever experienced the forgiveness of sins? Are you saved?
God repeatedly commands us in his word to obey him. He is our Heavenly Father who wants our total, immediate, and cheerful obedience. Partial, delayed, and disgruntled obedience is also disobedience. Is there disobedience in your life? Is God your Heavenly Father? Only through Christ you can be his child.
God eagerly hears the prayers of desperation by his children. We as believers should eagerly seek and expect the help of our Heavenly Father and trust him that he will answer in his way and his timing. Do you have a desperate need in your life today? Are you praying to God for it? Even more so, are you expecting an answer from God? Is he your Heavenly Father? Have you prayed to receive Christ as your Savior?
There are two kinds of rich people: the benevolent rich and the oppressive rich. The rich man in this parable was oppressive and an unrepentant sinner. He did not show mercy to Lazarus, poor man, yet begged for mercy on the other side. This parable reminds us all to live our lives in view of the judgment that is coming. This is one message that you cannot afford to miss!
Sin is a debt that we owe to a holy God that we can never repay. Jesus came and paid the debt with his own life. Our response now should be gratefulness manifested in love and obedience to him. The title of our message today is "Forgiven" in our series on the Parables of Jesus. Do you see yourself as the one who owed much or do you see yourself as the one who owed little? Do you see yourself as a “wretch” in need of God’s Amazing Grace or do you see yourself as the “not so bad after all”? Are you saved?
We are taking a look at one of the most iconic parables in Scripture: the parable of the prodigal son. Typically, people focus on the son who loses his way and squanders his inheritance, but there are two sons in this story. Each son communicates important truths that should give us pause and cause us to examine our hearts. Parables are like mirrors. They expose to us who we are. Who are you in this parable? Are you the lost son? Are you one of the onlookers? Are you seeking the lost? Are you rejoicing over their salvation?
Jesus told this parable immediately following the parable of the sower, using similar language to communicate powerful truths to His audience. With this parable, Jesus challenged His listeners to think critically about their eternal destinations and to face the reality of hell. How do you see God’s delay in judgment? Are you confusing his compassion for complacency? Are you saved?
Jesus used the analogy of a farmer sowing seeds to describe his preaching of the gospel. The seed, the word of the kingdom, falls on every heart, but it is the nature of the soil, the nature of the heart, that decides whether or not it will bear fruit. That’s the title of our message today – “Fruitful.”
If we want to understand the things of God, we must first examine our hearts and make sure that we have not become hardened to God’s truth. What is the condition of your heart? How do you see the things of God? Are you saved? If you enjoy this message be sure to share it with others!
From God’s perspective, righteousness is the secret to success as a nation. The timeline of history is littered with nations and peoples that have ceased to be, not because of famine, earthquake, pollution, or deforestation, but, because of unrighteousness. Are we an unrighteousness nation? Are we doing all we can to make our nation a righteous nation? Will our children and grandchildren thank us or curse us for how we are leaving this nation? Righteousness comes through Christ. Are you saved?
Our culture thinks that fathers are just an accessory but God has appointed fathers to be the primary influence in every child’s life. Have you lived up to and are you living up to the calling God gave you as a dad? Children, of all ages, have you been grateful for what your fathers have done for you? For some, this may be a tough message. Either you were not the father you were supposed to be or you broke your father’s heart. Ask God to forgive you and give you his grace. Are you saved?
Just as we need physical food to give us physical sustenance, we also need spiritual food to give us spiritual sustenance. Spiritual food is feeding upon Christ and it is not optional but essential for the Christian life. How is your spiritual nutrition coming? Are you daily feeding upon Christ and his word? Do you know Christ as your Savior? Is he your king?
Many Christians begin well in their Christian life but they don’t finish well. You need both accountability and personal responsibility to deal with a Backsliding Mind. That’s the title of our in this final message in our series on the Mind of Christ.
A fearful mind will either leave you paralyzed or cause you to flee. What you need is the mind of Christ. What you need is the replacing of your false assumptions about life and future with biblical truth and principles. Do you have a fearful mind? Are you paralyzed or have you fled? You might say, “I’m not fearful, just cautious.” There’s a big difference between fear and caution. Caution is seeing a warning sign and slowing down and steering carefully around the hurdle. Fear is pulling over and canceling the trip. Many Christians have pulled over and canceled their trip. Some have even turned back. Is that you? Are you saved?
Many Christians have the “I do it” mindset. I can change my life. I can live for God. I can serve God. I can please God. It works for a little while and then they quickly realize that they can’t change on their own or live for God. In fact, they end up making a big mess and get discouraged and disillusioned. The Christian life is learning to yield to God and his work in our lives. Yielding does not mean being neutral. It is cooperating with God in transforming our mind. We’re in our series called MIND(RE)SET from Philippians 2 and our message today is titled YIELD.
Today's message is titled “GLORY.” Here’s the message in a nutshell: God’s glory is who he is and all that he is. I glorify God when I display who he is and all that he is. Are you glorifying God in your life? How are you displaying God in your home, marriage, neighborhood, workplace, grocery store, restaurant, and church? You cannot display him until you belong to him. Do you belong to him? Are you saved?
Titles tell us what a person does and their level in a family, company, or institution. Jesus had many titles but the one that tops the list is “Lord.” It means that as God, He deserves our worship and obedience. In this message, we will learn what that means. What do you think about Jesus? Is he the Lord of your life? Is he in control of your life? Have you ever asked him to save you?
In this message, our focus will be on the significance of his powerful new name. Before we do that, here’s a question: Does all this matter for us? Of course! Once God opens our eyes to see how Jesus is exalted on high and why his name is so powerful, it will not only change the way we live daily but it will also change the way we worship him. What emotion does the name “Jesus” evoke in you? Joy? Peace? Fear? Doubt? Indifference? Have you called upon the name of Jesus to be saved?
When we truly understand that Jesus, our Savior, and King, is seated at the right hand of the Father, it does several things for us: It gives us a model for how humility is the key to exaltation; it gives us the courage to face any problem in this life, and it gives us a glimpse of what’s coming for us. What trial are you facing? Are you looking towards Jesus? You cannot recognize him until you meet him. Have you met him?
All of us tend to think that we are humble and someone else is proud when in reality, we all have the same spirit of pride. There’s only one who is truly humble and his name is Jesus. In fact, he humbled himself to the point of death, even the death of the cross. He is our model and source of true humility. Are you a humble person? Do you have the spirit and the heart of Christ? Have you come in humility before him and received him as your Savior and King?
We’re in our series called MIND(RE)SET from Philippians 2. We are learning what it means to have the mind of Christ. In today’s message, we’re going to focus on what it means to be a “bondservant.” Do you understand what Jesus has done for you? He became a slave so that we could become sons and daughters of God. Do you know him? Are you saved?

As we begin our New Year it is very important for us to have resolutions. The problem isn't the resolution itself, but the reason behind it. Often, resolutions are made out of a desire to prove ourselves. As believers our resolutions be focused on living for God and stepping out in obedience to Him. How is your resolve? Have you become content to sit back and coast your way through your remaining years? This message is not just for those who are older but for all of us. Are you resolved to walk in the promises of God? Are you saved?
What happens if you keep making all right turns or all left turns? You’ll end up at the same spot. Imagine doing that for over a year! The children of Israel did that! Many people do the same thing. For one reason or another, they keep making all right or all left turns in life and they wonder why they keep going in circles! In today’s message, we will learn how to move forward in 2019. This weekend, we are examining how the birth of Jesus impacted those outside of God’s people. There were kingmakers, or perhaps you’ve heard them called “wise men” or “magi,” who traveled from Persia to meet this foretold King. These men understood that Jesus wasn’t just King in Jerusalem. He was “Our Universal King.” At the time Jesus was born Herod thought that he was the king of the Jews but he was a false king. Who is the false king ruling your life? Jesus is the Universal King. He wants not just a part of you but the whole of you. Have you given your whole life to him?

We’re in our series called “Thankful,” to prepare us for the Holiday Season, and this is the final message titled “Thankful for Salvation.” What I have discovered is that the more we grow in the Christian life, the more grateful we become for our salvation. In other words, the longer we are Christians, the more we are amazed at why God would save someone like us. Today we’ll meet someone who towards the end of his life, in spite of his circumstances, was truly amazed and grateful for being saved.
The family is where we learn how to love others and live with others. The church is also a family where we learn how to love others and live with others. Our earthly family is temporal but our spiritual family is eternal and we are constantly adding more people. This is very hard for people to grasp in a world that is antisocial and self-centered. God has given us the church for a reason. Are you thankful for the church?
In the New Testament, Jesus calls his followers to be salt and light. One major way we can be salt and light to our community is through politics. Even before Jesus said the phrase "salt and light", Daniel was using his position of political power to influence his community. Daniel made a statement about his faith and was thrown into the den of lions for it. Just like Daniel we are called to be bold in the proclaiming of our faith. Daniel was persecuted for his faith. Is your faith strong enough to be persecuted? Are you saved?
This week, we are beginning a new series titled "Thankful." As Christians, we have so much to be thankful for. This first message is focused on Joseph and how even in the hard times, God is working out His perfect plan. Knowing how God works all things together for our good should give us a spirit of thankfulness. How do you see your life? Are you bitter or are you thankful? Are you a victim or a victor? Are you saved? Without Christ, you will live to avenge or prove yourself.
As Christians, we are called to be witnesses to Christ. So often we try to take up other roles such as judge, jury, or executioner, but when we truly follow the Word of God, we see that the witness stand is where we are called share the grace and truth of the Gospel. Are you truly saved? Are you sharing your witness? Are you telling people what Christ has done in your life?
As Christians we often have a very individualist approach to our faith. We forget that we are part of the body of Christ. As a church united, we are much more than the sum of our parts. Our church won't be able to make the impact we are called to make until we as individuals join together and use the gifts God has blessed us with. What is your role in this church body? What gift has God given to you? Are you saved? If so, what’s holding you back from jumping in?
What do you think about the Holy Spirit? A lot of the time we think that the Holy Spirit is just our conscience or we think that He is a genie only concerned with answering our wishes. He is so much more than that. Do you have the Holy Spirit? If you’re saved, the Bible says you do. Are you submitted to the Holy Spirit? Are you grieving or quenching him in your life?
In the life of a believer, the Word of God should be the ultimate guide. We should look to the Bible in all situations to be our counsel. This is so important because God magnifies His Word above His Hame. God’s name is his nature. It is who He is. God’s word is what He expects us to do. Trust God’s Nature, but obey his Word. Do you obey God’s word, the truth? Have you received the Truth of God? Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
What is the reason that we take communion? Why is it important for us as a church to take communion? Far too often we take communion out of its Jewish context and put our own meaning on it. In order to properly celebrate communion, we must understand its origins. Do you remember what happened 2000 years ago? Can you see Jesus passing the bread and the cup to you? Has there been a time in your life when you asked him to be your Savior and your King? Are you saved?
One of the most important things we can have in our lives is unity. Unity is a necessity in our work, family, and in our church for these institutions to survive. The protection of unity is hard, but it is vital. How is unity in your life, in your family? Are you promoting unity in this church body or are you eroding it? Are you part of the body of Christ? Are you saved?
This is it. After much anticipation, we are finally in our new sanctuary. The first thing we wanted to do is dedicate this building to God. Even more important we wanted this Sunday to be a day where we dedicate ourselves to God and His kingdom. When we see the work God is doing here, it should cause us with grateful hearts to fall down and worship Him. When was the last time you fell on your face before God? When was the last time you dedicated yourself to God? Are you saved?
For some reason in life we seem to always see the best in other places and never where we are. This was the case for the Israelites in exile. The always saw the beauty in their homeland and never in the place they where planted. We too do the same thing in our lives when we complain about where we live, work, go to church, etc... Are you in a foreign land? Have you hung up your harp? Have you lost your song? Do you think that God has forgotten you? Are you saved?
In the last message in our "First, Believe" series on the true gospel, we look at the importance of repentance and belief in salvation. These two aspects to our response to the gospel are inseparable because you can't have one without the other. Have you repented of your sins? Have you placed your faith in Jesus and his cross and resurrection? Are you saved?
What does it mean to count the cost? Before we are saved we have to count the cost of discipleship. For some, they are willing to pay the price but for others, they will turn and walk away. Salvation is free, but discipleship is costly. Have you counted the cost of following Jesus? Are you willing to give up all in order to follow Christ? What is keeping you from following Christ? Are you saved?
All throughout the New Testament, we are commanded to pick up our cross. We do this by learning from the example of Christ that we see in the Bible. When we realize that the cross is not just a historical fact, but is also our present reality, it gives us the strength to carry our own cross. Do you understand what it means to “pick up your cross” and follow after Jesus? Have you been “crucified with Christ?” Are you saved?
When you think of the name Christ what do you think of. We often don't think of anointed king. We have to realize that Jesus is the anointed, chosen King who is above all. Have you believed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God? Do you have life in his name? Are you saved?
As we come to our second message in the sermon series "First, Believe" we are talking about the importance of Jesus being our King. Throughout the Bible there are major examples of this. Jesus references the Gospel of the Kingdom many times. For some reason we have dropped “of the kingdom” and retained only the “gospel.” Jesus is not just your Savior, he should also be your king. Is he your king? Does he call the shots in your life? Are you saved?
Being a disciple is not optional for a Christian, but where does this process start? Before we can be disciples of Christ, we must be saved. To be saved we must get the Gospel right. Just like in the New Testament, there are many false "gospels" that we see every day. True Gospel will initiate discipleship. Is there discipleship in your life? What gospel have you believed? Do you know the true gospel? Are you saved?
In the final message on discipleship, we take the time to focus on the importance of intercessory prayer. This is not a prayer for self, but a prayer for others. This message gives us guidelines and tips on how to pray on behalf of others. Who intercedes on your behalf? Who are you interceding on behalf of? Do you understand the importance of intercessory prayer? Are you saved?
Christian's are not exempt from temptation and trials, and because of this truth, we need godly people in our lives to pick us up in times of need. The hardest parts of accountability are actually starting and knowing how to proceed. There are a few key points of discipleship that often get confused, that once corrected make these disciple groups much easier and more fun. Who is holding you accountable? Who do you have in your life who is spiritually mature enough to restore you in a spirit of gentleness? Are you pulling others up or down? Have you ever asked Christ to pull you out of sin? Are you saved?
One of the identifying marks of a disciple is that their life is rooted in the word of God. How do we become rooted? Through reading and study, we build our foundation on God's Word. Solid biblical teaching is a must for every disciple of Jesus Christ. Without it, you will fall when the storms of life come. Are you a disciple? Are you rooted in the Word? Are you saved?
Making disciples isn't always an easy process. We need guidance and advice from time to time. In this sermon, Pastor Shah lays out some very simple pathways that we can follow in order to begin the process of discipleship in our own lives and help others do the same. Who do you have in your life who has or is showing you the pathways of how to walk with God? Do you know the pathways of discipleship? Who are you helping on the pathways of discipleship? Are you a disciple? Are you saved?
In our journey to being and making disciples we face many challenges. To overcome these challenges we need Christ to develop spiritual disciplines within us. Through these disciplines, we become not only better disciples and disciple-makers, but also more spiritually mature. What obstacles are keeping you from discipling others? Are you willing to discipline yourself? Are you a disciple? Are you saved?
Throughout our series, on discipleship, we have studied what the signs of a true disciple are. As we approach the last letter, we also approach one of the most important. Followers of Christ should always be producing more followers. The main goal of discipleship is to produce more disciples. Are you a disciple of Jesus? Are you saved? Are you reproducing more disciples? Are you helping others become disciples of Jesus?
What is the purpose of God's word in our lives? The Bible is a very important part of our spiritual walk. Without the Bible, we have no sense of direction in our walk. Since it is such an important part of our faith we are called to live it and teach to others. Jesus taught his disciples and we are supposed to teach ours. One mark of discipleship is “Teaching them to observe all things.” Are you learning all things that Jesus has commanded us? Are you observing his commandments? Are you established in the Word? Are you a disciple of Jesus? Are you saved?
A very important part of our Christian faith is unity. Throughout the history of the church, there have been many letters and scriptures to encourage unity among believers. The truth is that we as Christians can't grow alone. We need each other to grow and help us in our walk. The early church understood the value of togetherness. Do you understand the importance of being together in the body of Christ? Are you a part of the body of Christ? Are you saved? What binds us together is the same Holy Spirit. Is he in you?
Throughout the Bible, there are many examples of accountability. The Disciples were always placed into groups of two to five in order to remain accountable. A mark of a true disciple is accountability in their life. Both with the twelve disciples and then with the seventy disciples, Jesus sent them out two by two. He paired them up, among other reasons, to hold each other accountable. If you are a disciple, who do you have in your life who holds you accountable? Who is willing to question your bad behavior and encourage your good behavior? No accountability is equal to no guardrails down the steep mountain of life. It’s a matter of time. Are you a disciple? Are you saved?
What is a disciple? What are some of the qualifications? One of the biblical qualifications for being a disciple is being a witness. When Jesus saves us, we then become a witness to the change which He brings in our lives. Through faith our spiritual eyes see Jesus. If you’re a disciple, you’re a witness to Christ. You should be able to describe three things – 1. What was life like before you met Christ? 2. What happened that changed your life; how Christ saved you. 3. What is your life like since Christ saved you? Can you describe these three things? Are you a witness to Christ? Are you a disciple? Are you saved?
Sometimes life is hard, and our Christian walk is tough. In those times instead of drawing close to God, we often drift away. In fear or shame, we find a way to excuse our actions. Luckily we have a loving Savior who seeks us out and restores us. Christ came to Peter because he had drifted away. Have you drifted away? Have you lost your zeal for the things of God? Have you lost your first love? Have you ever received God’s love in your heart? Are you saved?
Most of the time we think of the perfect Christian as a person without any doubt. We think that in order to be truly saved we must not doubt at all. That is simply not true. Christians can and do have doubts. Even when we doubt we are called to trust God and put our faith in Him. Do you have trouble believing that someone who died 2000 years ago on a cross has the power to change your life today? Get ready! God is about to open your eyes to the truth. Christian – do you struggle with doubts? I do. Let the Holy Spirit through God’s Word teach you to walk by faith and not by sight.
How should we love Christ? Christ deserves an obedient and all-consuming love. When we look at some of the prominent New Testament figures such as Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John the Beloved Disciple, we see how to love Jesus and some of the things that hinder our love for Him. Mary Magdalene ran. Peter ran. The other disciple ran. Just like little kids, they didn’t care what anyone thought of them. They ran because their loved one was missing. Would you have done that? Have you received His love in your life? Are you saved?
It is hard to obey God when we don't understand the reason behind our obedience. Even when it is hard, we are still called to obey Christ. One thing we can trust is that He will work all things together for good to those who love Him. When we keep that in mind are free to obey Christ no matter how unreasonable it seems. The disciples obeyed Jesus even when it didn’t make any sense. Are you obedient to God even when it doesn’t make any sense? How do you obey him? Quickly, completely, joyfully? Are you saved? Obey the voice of the Holy Spirit and be saved.
Last week we learned about raising our kids in The Way and how important that is. There are many passages in scripture instructing us on training our kids. One of the most important parts of training kids is the trainer themselves. The trainer must love the Word of God and cherish it. You cannot hate God’s word and disobey it and tell your kids to love God’s Word and obey it in their lives. They will do what you do. Do you love and obey God’s word? Have you received the Word of God, Jesus, as your Savior? Are you saved?
One of the hardest jobs in the world is parenting. It is a tough yet rewarding calling. In this message, we learn that the Bible promises us if we train our children in the way, they won't depart from it. The true way of life is Jesus. Do you know him? How are you training your kids?
Knowing the gospel is one of the most important things we can do. With so many false gospels being preached in the world today, we must search for truth. The true gospel isn't one of health and wealth. It doesn't say "become a better you." The true gospel doesn't say "be better." The true gospel is that Christ died for our sins, and rose again so that through Him we can have new life. Have you received the good news, the gospel?
What does it mean for us as Christians to be steadfast? Being steadfast isn't something that we do alone but something we do as a body of believers. We are steadfast by being unified for the gospel and not being intimidated by enemies of the gospel. In order to stand fast, we have to know what the gospel is. You and I are stuck in sin. But God sent his Son to take our sins upon himself and die in our place. All you and I have to do is ask him to be your Savior. He not only forgives our sins but just as he came alive, we are also made spiritually alive in him. Have you received this gospel?
As followers of Christ, we are called to make it our life mission to spread the gospel. Many Christians prefer to sit in church pews and await death because they believe that to die is gain. Of course, to die is gain because we get to go and be with Christ, but we are also called to fruitful work here on earth. We are to not fear death, nor desire it. Living with eternity in mind should make us more courageous in spreading the gospel to others. Are you afraid to die? Are you afraid to live? As a believer, what are you living for? Are you saved?
For the average person, perspective is normally related to the current circumstances. We feel up when things are going right, and down when they are not. Sadly this is true of Christians as well. We love God when we feel He is blessing us, and we feel cold and distant when He seems distant. In reality, our perspective shouldn't be based on our circumstances but on the promises God has made, and on what Jesus has done on the cross. The lens through which we see the world should be the gospel. Do you see your undesirable circumstances as setbacks, obstacles, abandonment by God, or as opportunities to keep sharing the gospel? What is your perspective? Are you saved?
When you think of a guarantee, what is the first thing you think of? Normally we might think of a money-back guarantee or something that someone has promised us. Earthly promises can and will fall through. In Christ, we as believers have a trustworthy guarantee that will never fail. God will finish the work he has started in us. He has promised us in scripture that if he starts His work in us then he will complete it. Has God begun a good work in you? In other words, are you saved? Have you asked Jesus to be your Savior? If you have, can you see his work daily in your lives? Some believers may have more work in their lives than others. No work, no salvation.
The way we act can have a huge impact on the people around us. As a church, we are called to be a shining light for people in the world. We impact people by being trustworthy, joyful, and hopeful. Those were the marks the Philippian church had. How about you? What impact have you made on the lives of those around you? A major reason for the positive impact was that the Philippians were saved. Paul calls them “saints in Christ Jesus.” Are you “in” Christ Jesus? Are you saved?
A large portion of Christians today think that the gospel needs something added to it to attract sinners. This thinking has infected many churches causing them to preach the gospel plus something else. God’s word calls the gospel the power of God for salvation. Transformation comes from our sinful hearts gazing on the beauty of Jesus’ cross. That is all we need. Have you ever heard the gospel? Have you ever been transformed? Are you faithful in sharing the gospel with others in your life?
We often have a very poor notion of what is and isn't from the Holy Spirit. We live our lives, thinking that we are guided by the Spirit when truly we are living based on emotional whims. In this week's sermon, we take a closer look at how the Holy Spirit redirected Paul's life and changed his plans to match the Lord's. If you're obedient, you can take comfort that the Holy Spirit is truly guiding your life. Have you concluded that God is in control of your life, and he is redirecting your life for the best? Or have you concluded that God doesn’t care and your life has no direction? Can you see His divine hand directing and redirecting your life? Is Christ your Savior?
To most people the birth place of Jesus might not seem significant or even interesting. Even Christians might normally think that the place Jesus was born was just a coincidence, but really the birth place of Jesus was divinely planned. It was a product of God's sovereignty. It was the fulfillment of prophecy. God used the small and insignificant town of Bethlehem to bring forth a the eternal King. Do you ever feel insignificant? Do you ever feel unworthy? Do you ever feel that you are too little or unsuitable to be used by God? Are you saved?
This is the third message in our Christmas series titled "Believing is Seeing." Jesus told those who opposed Him that Moses wrote about Him. In this message, we look back to Exodus and the name that God gave Israel and how it is nearly identical to how we are introduced to Jesus. Do you understand that Jesus is the source of everything you need in your daily life? Do you know that to know Him is to know the Father? Have you called on Him for salvation?
The virgin birth is such an important doctrine that we as Christians should hold to. Many people say that they can believe almost everything in Christianity but struggle with the virgin birth. By looking into the Old Testament and even looking into the original languages, we see that the virgin birth is not only probable, but is crucial because it shows that Jesus is the promised Messiah, Do you believe? I’m not just asking just about the virgin birth. Do you believe that Jesus is God’s only hope for you?
If the Word of God has any error at all then we can't trust it. People study the Bible trying to find errors. We must always be ready to have a defense of our faith. In this message we look at one of the objections that is raised out of the book of Matthew, and see how not only is it consistent with all of God's Word, but that it is a promise that Jesus would come to be our perfect King. Is Christ your Savior?
The entire Bible is about Christ. We see in God’s Word that everything from the Old to New Testament tells of Christ. In the New Testament Jesus is the sinless Lamb slain for our sins, and in the Old Testament he is the coming King foretold by the prophets. In the first session of the new series “Fulfilled,” we learn how Jesus fulfilled the lineage that was required of this King who was to come. What does that mean for you and me? Jesus is God’s only promise of salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life. Has he fulfilled those promises in your life? Are you saved?
The Word of God is the only power to save a soul. This is a truth we must believe. As Christians we must stand on God's word, and we must put our faith in Him. We know that we can trust his word because it is unfailing. What are you basing your life on? Emotions, experience, human wisdom? Or are you basing your life on the word of God which lives and abides forever? Have you found yourself drifting and doubting lately? Have you found yourself floundering and fearful lately? Have you found yourself struggling and staggering lately? Have you taken your eyes away from the truth of God as revealed in the Word of God? Are you saved? Are you saved under the gospel given in the Word of God?
Churches grow. As we see more and more turning to Christ, we only see the body get bigger. When churches grow they are more prone to disunity, disagreement and division. There are basic foundation on which the church is built upon, and when we look to those foundations we continue in unity. This unity is to help us grow and love each other. How do you relate with others in the body? What is your role in this church body at Clearview? Are you helping to edify this body in love? To be a part of this church body, you have to be saved. Are you saved?
Talking trash is common for people today. It can be talking trash to a friend jokingly, or to an enemy to belittle and tear down. Far too often, Christians trash talk God. We have grown too familiar and think of God as a friend we can talk to any way we please. While God is our friend, He is also the sovereign King of the universe, and we need to learn to speak to Him as such. The way you talk to and about God shows what you truly believe. What do you say about God? Do you trash talk his name? Do you fear him? Do people hear you talking about God or do they hear you talking about others? Do you trash talk others or do you edify others? Are you saved?
In our society thieves are looked down upon. We live by the principle that if we earn it, it belongs to us, and no one should be able to take it away. We believe thieves should be imprisoned, but we don't often realize that we too are thieves. Everyday people are robbing God. He lavishly blesses us, and out of obedience we should give a portion back; yet we are so greedy we want to keep what is rightfully His. What has God done for you? How much do you have that belongs to God? Are you saved?
