Parks n Wrecked: Recent Episodes

Joey Held, Haleigh Campbell, Sean Hill

We watch the show Parks and Rec while chatting with someone from the parks and rec department, all while getting parks n wrecked. Let's do it.

Goodness, this is a weird one. But would you expect anything less from the FINAL EPISODE EVER?!

The Parks and Rec crew reunite several years after the series finale, hosting a handful of Gryzzl one-on-one and conference calls. All of our favorites are here — Leslie and Ron have a couple of touching heart-to-hearts and Donna is looking exceptionally good with her gorgeous lighting in her closet. We’ve got lots of fun cameos from folks like Councilman Jamm, Dennis Feinstein, Joan Callamezzo, Perd Hapley, and Jean-Ralphio, who is flush with cash but INCREDIBLY bored. If only that fake phone number actually worked…

Meanwhile, the writers have to get creative on how show couples like Ann and Chris and April and Andy can’t be seen together. If you rewatch this episode, you may notice a couple of the very overused phrases like “these trying times,” but hey, we didn’t know what was to come back then. Plus, this episode raised at least $3 million for Feeding America, which is fantastic.

Plus, we dive into popular club hits from the late 00s and early 10s, put on a ton of wacky sound effects, and discuss the people who have won an EGOT (they’re hard to guess!). Also, does Sean need to buy himself a coffee machine?

Doing this podcast has been a blast and we’ve loved hanging out with you every week. But this isn’t goodbye forever. We’ve got some cool things planned — keep an eye here and on Facebook and Twitter for updates!

We’re recapping season 7! What were the best moments from the last season ever of Parks of Rec? Certainly wasn’t the Johnny Karate musical show, we’ll tell you that much. And who are the best bit characters from the Pawnee crew? We’re covering it all!

Plus, Sean and Haleigh take a quiz naming popular workplace sitcom characters, we talk about sock hops and what song would be delightful to hear during one, and Sean shares his experience of playing hockey and scoring a game-winning goal during a shootout.

Also, remember when Apple forced an album from U2 onto all of its products? Those were good times. And what are the odds that you would die on your birthday? We do a deep dive into that very topic.

Finally, what should Haleigh do for her punishment after losing trivia? We wanna hear from you! In the meantime, give James Blunt’s Twitter a follow.

P.S. Sorry for Sean’s audio quality in parts of this one. He tried a new microphone and…well, there are still some kinks to be worked out with it. Nothing like the penultimate episode to give something wild a spin!

We’re finishing up what we started last episode! We see the Parks and Rec crew doing their darnedest to satisfy one more Pawnee citizen before they scatter across the country and never (or at least rarely) see each other in the same room again.

Meanwhile, we’re continuing to jump ahead to the future, from 2018 all the way to 2035. And there are lots of great questions to be answered. Will Shauna Malwae-Tweep find eternal happiness? How big will Andy and April’s kid’s head be? Where will Ron end up working? What will Leslie have named after her, and will it be displeasing? Will we have special guest appearances and will Sean be super excited about them?

Plus, how many college basketball players can Haleigh name? Sean finally pays up his season 6 trivia loss debt (check some of the footage here), the proper way to row a canoe, what Ben Wyatt smells like, a walk through the different Two-Faces from Batman, whether Leslie would be a good boss, and the best games on The Price is Right. Joey apologizes for getting the name of Cliffhangers wrong.

And we’ve got a special guest this episode! Friend of the podcast and Sean’s coworker Heather joins to chat about the grand finale of Parks and Rec (but not of Parks n Wrecked). We’ll try to teach her how to speak into the microphone next time but hopefully, you can still hear her many witty comments.

Some of the crew is moving to Washington D.C. (and other places, as we’ll soon see), so Leslie is getting the gang together for one last ride. What started out as a presentation with song and dance turns into a final problem-solving adventure.

Meanwhile, we’re jumping into the future! Will Craig and Typhoon end up together after all? What’s Donna up to six years from now? Will Andy ever learn about Sandra Day O’Connor? How many restaurants will Tom open up? Will Garry have a successful run as mayor? Can Jean Ralphio and Mona Lisa successfully pull off a heist without being suspicious? The answer to some of these questions is “yes”; for others, it’s “no”. Still others have longer answers. And I’ve been Perd Hapley.

Plus, the massive secret (but not so secret) Lyndon B. Johnson was hiding, cutting the line at amusement parks when you’re in a wheelchair, the famous John Lennon and Yoko Ono picture from Rolling Stone, how inconvenient it is for maintenance to be closed on a Friday, and getting banned from restaurants.

Mayor Gunderson has passed away, so the town needs to find a new mayor. That means Ben and April are on the job search for a suitable replacement. It’s a who’s who of Pawnee’s finest (and most ridiculous), and Garry is there to notarize whatever happens. But wait! This episode is called two funerals, so there must be another one — and Ron finds out it’s someone close to him. He, Donna, and Andy all pay their respects to a terrific barber.

Meanwhile, Leslie convinces Tom that now is the time to propose to Lucy. Ever the showman, Tom decides he wants a multimedia proposal, which involves destroying a jewelry store, a lot of banners, and a live chorus. It ain’t subtle…or is it?

Plus, the sturdiness of jewelry store glass cases, “famous” shows we haven’t seen, and Haleigh and Sean GO OFF about the stupid rules of basketball, from intentional fouling to spending 15 minutes dissecting Zapruder Film-esque replays of a ball possibly deflecting off of a player’s shorts.

With just a few episodes to go, we’re going to take a wild detour to Andy’s Johnny Karate kids show that doesn’t really advance the plot in any way. But, uh…it’s kind of silly occasionally, so…yay?

Andy gets top billing by being a big ol’ goofball, while April is worried that she’s ruining the one thing he loves by moving to Washington, D.C. Ben gets chided for being a nerd, Ron makes some wood, and John Cena shows up, for some reason. Look, it’s not a great episode, okay? We do like all the fake commercials spliced into the episode, though.

Meanwhile, SNL movies that were made from questionable premises, the hypocrisy of the NCAA, the joys of snacking on buckeyes, and how good would a Paunch Burger be in real life?

Plus, Sean achieved a HUGE milestone. Tune in to see what it is!

Ben is running for Congress, and that means Leslie needs to make a pie. But, you know what? That’s pretty darn oppressive, so we bet Leslie and Ben can come up with a good plan to let folks know what’s what.

Meanwhile, Ron, April, and Andy are on a treasure hunt for the ages to discover the whereabouts of a spare key Ron lent to April. Donna enjoys a nostalgia trip as she watches Garry drop all kinds of things down a grate at City Hall.

There are plenty of guest spots in this episode, too, from Maribeth Monroe to Chris Gethard. And Harris and Brett are here! What a super fun time.

Plus, changing the words to songs when you sing them, chaos inside of swimming pools, and that time the Four Tops made a repeat version of “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” with “It’s The Same Old Song.” Also, where the heck has Diane been?

April no longer wants to work in the government, but she’s afraid to tell Leslie because, you know…it’s Leslie. She freaks out over a binder color change. We’ll see if April can pull this off — she deserves to be happy! And there are a ton of Senators in this episode — special shout out to Cory Booker and Orrin Hatch and their Polynesian folk band Across the Isle.

Meanwhile, back in Pawnee, Ben, Andy, and Ron are looking for a new career for April. We also learn Ron has at least three brothers. Are they just like him? Yes. Yes they are.

Plus, far too much ASMR as Sean sips a new drink, weird and gross people at Chili’s, and having dance parties in your living room. Sean finally joined Twitter, too, so he’s gotten quite the wakeup call to that world thanks to Oprah’s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

We survived the Texas winter storm! As a result, there’s no episode of Parks and Rec to watch. Instead, we’re offering a look at some of the most intense moments from Snowpocalypse, such as Haleigh collecting snow to use as toilet water and Sean losing heat and water and then having his car turn sideways while driving on icy roads.

Joey also reminisces about Oregon Trail II, we reflect on our favorite books and movies from high school and college, and share the best ways to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

And we’re taking a quote quiz! Will Sean and Haleigh know who said some of the most popular (and obscure) quotes from the show? You’ll have to tune in to find out.

Finally, we’re reading a few of our favorite podcast reviews! And because we’re silly geese, we’re doing it in fancy accents. It’s truly a glorious time. Want to get your review read? Head on over to Apple Podcasts and leave us a review!

Plus, can you name all the singers from Lady Marmalade? We’re sure trying to. And we’re chatting times we’ve spun out while driving, revisiting our outlandish Super Bowl picks, and reminiscing over the time U2’s album came on all Apple products. Simpler times, you know?

Gryzzl is using data mining to get inside people’s heads and provide them with all the information they would ever find useful. Huh, sounds vaguely familiar, doesn’t it?

Anyway, this is a fantastic episode with just about every character showing their best characteristics. Leslie and Ben try to find a way to overtake Gryzzl, and they’re starting to get some help from their old crew. Ron cracks a funny joke about vegetables. Johnny Karate makes another appearance. Craig lists a lot of things he likes. The community is on Leslie’s side during a town hall. That’s super chill!

Plus, Sean shares his go-to McDonald’s order (both while sober and drunk), we break down some classic wine bottle designs, the best and worst movie premieres we’ve ever been to, and the beauty of exploring the world through the window of an Amtrak train.

We also recorded this before the Super Bowl, so you can hear some wildly incorrect predictions, such as which quarterback will throw a touchdown pass to himself and what color Gatorade will be poured on the winning coach.

The rest of the crew have locked Leslie and Ron up so maybe they’ll finally start getting along. We can only hope! As a result, this episode is largely Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman showcasing their great chemistry together. We ain’t too mad about that.

We learn what Project Morningstar is, that’s kind of cool! Leslie and Ron also have many sappy moments, Post-It Notes are wasted, whiskey is drunk, and a saxophone is played.

Plus, Joey wonders if he’ll ever find an IPA he enjoys, we put our best application forward to appear on an upcoming Texas episode of Queer Eye, and Sean delivers picture perfect accents of Southern people and Sean Connery.

Oh, and the final ten minutes or so of this episode is all about the GameStop stonks, which primarily gives Sean and Haleigh a chance to RANT HEAVILY about money.

Well, we’ve made it through Season 6 and basically 2020, so there’s lots of reflecting going on. We reminisce about the very first episode of Parks n Wrecked and how wildly unprofessional it was (as if we’ve gotten more professional, HA). And of course, we’re going over some of the key moments of Season 6 of Parks and Rec.

Remember when Andy had a job in London and hopped into a dumpster? Or how about the time Chris Bosh made a guest appearance as an Eagletonian high schooler player despite being nearly 30 years old? Or when Leslie Knope got recalled?

Yes, we all remember the Unity Concert, and there was plenty of personal growth in Season 6. This was the season where Ann and Chris left us after birthing a beautiful child. Donna’s a realtor now. April is working with animals, which she LOVES. Tom sells his old company and opened up Tom’s Bistro. Ron and Diane got married and had a baby and we barely heard about it! Larry retired yet he’s still working all the time. Classic Larry. And then we time-hopped three years at the end of the season!

Plus, wild moments with the wind and ultimate frisbee, an in-depth look at butt fumbles, a deep dive into the Logical Journey of the Zoombinis computer game, and a full-on reflection of 2020 as a whole. We also take a trivia quiz that crashes on us halfway through, and Sean alienates his friends by criticizing both The Office and Parks and Rec.

And remember: 2020 may have been terrible but we all still accomplished good things this year. Take a moment to reflect on those and have a wonderful and relaxing holiday. We’ll see you next year!

Oh, and did you want to check out some of the other things we mentioned? We’d love to see you at Good People, Cool Things and Crisp Bounce Pass or dropping a review on this Bic Pen for Her or the book How to Avoid Huge Ships.

Welcome to the Unity Concert! We’ve finally made it and my, what a wonderful show. This Parks and Rec episode is chock full of guest appearances, like Ginuwine, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Kay Hanley of Letters to Cleo, The Decemberists, Jon Hamm, Johnny Karate, and a whole lot more. And we’re all partying at Tom’s Bistro after the show.

Meanwhile, Leslie is looking for people to take with her to her new job as the head of the Midwest branch of the National Park Service. Ron is disinterested because the government, April hates people and Leslie (but also loves her). Andy briefly agrees after forgetting that he can also get pizza in Pawnee. And of course Larry is game! The end of this episode also flashes forward three years into the future, which is wild.

Plus, the proper footwear if you’re participating on the Floor is Lava, how some people only have one karaoke song they ever sing, and the longevity of the Power Rangers as both a show and video game. Does it also seem like there’s far less Christmas music this year than usual or is it just us?

Also, Joey apologizes to Darkbuster for blanking on your name during the episode. Rock on!

We’re at the last episode of Season 6, but as NBC did, we’re turning it into a two-parter. Leslie still isn’t sure if she’s going to take that job in Chicago, Ben gets to show off his Cones of Dunshire skills, and we meet Gryzzl, who most certainly will make another appearance in future episodes.

Meanwhile, Tom’s Bistro just moved up its soft launch and it is going QUITE poorly. Tom is being a jerk. April has to sub in as a server and adds several cars to the list of available pasts. And Larry knocks over entire cabinets of glassware. Classic Larry.

Plus, we debate the merits of stuffing versus dressing, reminisce about adventures at a Texas Rangers baseball game, nerd out quite a bit over Star Wars, and there’s actually something related to parks and rec this episode! Sean is thrilled to share his experiences in working at conferences.

We also meet Keegan-Michael Key as Joe, and Aziz Ansari is conspicuously absent. Or maybe he was just filming Master of None, who knows.

Plus, the history of Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Sean delivers some ASMR via a Red Lobster order that arrives at his door mid-episode, when people say “let me know if you need anything” during times of grief or sadness, and why are we making cold, refreshing drinks spicy?

Meanwhile, April leaves a mean message about Donna on Yelp, Ron takes on veganism and frozen yogurt, and a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary bickers a whole lot. We also get our first glimpse of the Unity Concert! Such exciting times.

Plus, Haleigh is upset at many things, we reminisce about the time Sean guzzled wine during his birthday party and got a bunch of comedians mad at him during another birthday party, and the absurdity of Pokemon battles.

Also, we apologize for the technical difficulties at the beginning of this episode. Technology is real dumb, y’all. Speaking of which, here’s a great article about TikTok that shows how addictive social media is.

We’re saying goodbye to Chris and Ann, and Sean could not be more distraught (mainly about Ann, he’s fine with Chris’s departure). The characters on Parks and Rec are all saying their respective goodbyes — Chris is proud of April, Donna grabs Chris’s butt, and Leslie puts on a party with all the normal and wacky holidays Ann and crew have celebrated, including Easter, New Year’s, and Talk Like a Pittsburgh Pirate Day.

Meanwhile, there are all kinds of Pawnee cameos in this episode. Kathryn Pinewood, Perd Hapley, Pete Disellio…they’re all here and offering various levels of help to Leslie.

Plus, the things Sean has cut himself off from after spending a ton of money on new tires, the best Kelly Clarkson songs to see live, and an eager Parks n Wrecked fan shares his Rocket League user ID with us. How nice!

After the success of last week’s episode, Sean’s got the University of Texas game on in the background this time. And this ain’t no first half shenanigans — we’re in the fourth quarter and overtime, baby!

P.S. A lot has happened since we last recorded, so here’s another reminder: PLEASE vote this year. Not just for the President, but at your local levels, too.

Hope you’re not too chard-headed this episode because we’re going to the farmers market! There’s an UNCOMFORTABLE amount of chard, including in shot form. Leslie and Ben are in the midst of a government spat with each other, all of Ron’s music is in a rectangle, and Donna and Tom host a whine and cheese club. Peas be kind to others, y’all.

Meanwhile, Andy and April introduce us to the magic of Johnny Karate, and Chris irritates Ann with how on top of everything he is.

Plus, mnemonic devices to remember directions, using huge headphones to block out people from talking or singing, and there’s drama in the Sean and Haleigh’s bowling league.

Finally, Sean had the bright idea to record this episode during a Cowboys game, and his team decided to get themselves down 20-0 while we were recording. But on the plus side, they ended up winning, so Sean got much happier than he was during this episode!

Leslie is in extra annoying mode this episode, because she realizes she’s designed a well-oiled machine of an office that can operate just fine without her. Ben attempts to prank half the office and the police get involved. You can imagine how Ben gets, since he becomes more incoherent than Dawn Lazarus whenever law enforcement comes around.

Meanwhile, Chris and Ann decide to get married. Or maybe they don’t. There’s a lot of back and forth. Jerry’s also choking on crackers. Like, for a long time.

Plus, Joey forgets the plot to Zoolander, we try to figure out the proper way to shorten “hacky sack”, and the joys of performing concerts around the house to an imaginary audience.

Introducing…the Cones of Dunshire! Leslie also uses the insult “dinkhead,” which is a new one to all of us. She’s trying to win her last battle against Councilman Jamm, and it includes a hibachi grill, karaoke, and plenty of shenanigans. We wouldn't expect anything less.

Meanwhile, Ron is trying to sell his cabin, and Tom, Donna, and April are all involved. Who will end up with the cabin? That hipster couple? A Sam Elliott-type character (but not the Sam Elliott that guest-starred a few episodes ago)? The tension is palpable!

Plus, a creative way to watch college sports live during a time of social distancing, Sean gives updates on his dating life, and he and Joey foolishly got coerced into playing fantasy football. Gross.

Leslie has already been recalled, so it’s time for her to be a loose cannon! This is one of our “Pawneeans are pretty darn dumb” episodes, so hope you’re ready for some stupidity. A full hour of stupidity! Sadly, Ben ends up out of a job by the end of this episode, and it’s all Leslie’s fault. They also seem to forget she still has a job within the parks and rec department, but let’s not worry about that.

Meanwhile, Chris is reading a ton of baby books authored by celebrities, Ron gets metaphorical with Moby Dick, and just about everyone else is comparing the Parks people to dogs. Indianapolis Colts legends Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne are back in this episode, too, for some reason.

We’re celebrating 100 episodes of Parks n Wrecked with perhaps our most foolish idea yet — inviting friends on the podcast to answer trivia questions about us. Really, it’s just a humblebrag to prove we have friends.

You’ll learn things like Haleigh’s favorite Girl Scout Cookie flavor, the name and breed of Joey’s first pet, and Sean’s most popular bit on Instagram. Though if you’re following him, you already know. There’s also a ton of talk about mayonnaise. We’re really living it up over here!

This one took a LOT of effort to coordinate and edit (and Zoom was not the most cooperative), so we’d really appreciate if you listened. :) And have some cake! After all, we’re celebrating.

It’s been a wonderful 100 episodes so far, but we ain’t done yet. We’ll be back with Leslie, Ron, and the new (and improved?) Pawnee/Eagleton crew, or, as Leslie would never say, Pawneeagleton. Cheers!

Meanwhile, Ben and Chris are trimming the fat of the Eagleton accounting crew, all while Chris does celebratory lunges. Can you think of a better way to show your excitement?

Plus, Haleigh attended her best friend’s wedding (while practicing social distancing), Sean considers a move to Colorado, we chat about the old Super Nintendo game Super Baseball 2020, and we talk about the glorious home arcade action that these new Arcade1Up cabinets provide, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and NBA Jam. We’re kicking off Season 6 in style: by traveling to London! Most of the crew heads across the pond so Leslie can accept an award and Ben and Chris can hang out with someone that might be dumber than Andy is. Also, Ron and Diane get hitched in perhaps the quickest celebration ever.

Meanwhile, Ann has finally gotten pregnant, but nobody seems to care—except Jerry, who has the weirdest reaction of the show. We also meet two new characters: Papa Saperstein, played delightfully by Henry Winkler, and Lord Covington, a dumb, rich, easily excitable bloke portrayed by Peter Serafinowicz. And Sean still confuses Andy’s name with Chris Pratt’s actual name.

Plus, we’re talking about fireworks during Fourth of July, classic airplane dilemmas like whether to wake up the person next to you during a meal or if you’ll walk across the aisle to see a cool sight out the window, and we dive into every single one of Leslie’s 40 Phases to Success to get back in the good graces of Pawnee citizens.

We dive into Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, The Price is Right, the joys of having inbox zero at work, playing the lottery at a gas station, and a guest star from the early days of Parks n Wrecked is getting married.

It’s the Season 5 finale! Are you better off than the start of the show? Leslie’s trying to argue that Pawnee is, and name drops a bunch of great movies about dancing, like Honey and Step Up 2 The Streets. But the townsfolk aren’t having it. We get it—now if we want to start our day with a triple decker pancake pizza, we have to go to the Paunch Burger 10 minutes away. And don’t tell me to not have that for breakfast, because I will NEVER consider that!

Meanwhile, Andy is carrying a pregnancy test around for this entire episode. Tom’s business is thriving and even has a potential interested investor, but he’s still dating Mona Lisa, who is the wooooorst.

Plus our top Seattle attractions from T-Mobile Park to MoPOP, great moments on The Price is Right (including the time Manuela gave away a car), and whether or not the movie Shazam starring Sinbad actually exists.

Ben and Leslie are engaged – time to throw a party! There’s only one problem: Ben’s parents can’t stand each other, and Ben is worried they’ll derail the whole shindig. Meanwhile, Tom and Jean Ralphio have a new business idea, but it seems only Tom is taking it seriously. Will that be enough for Ron to invest? We’ll have to find out! Also, Chris is sad. But what else is new?

Sean’s planning a work trip FOR parks and rec activities. What a fun time! This week was Fat Tuesday and we certainly celebrated in style (via eating 65 pounds of food). He’s also furious over the new pizza from Pizza Hut that features cheese sticks as part of the crust. Things are just getting wild over here.

It’s Halloween! Ron and Andy are in charge of Diane’s kids, for some reason. Leslie is flustered because she and Ben are planning to start their life together, but all of a sudden, Ben might not be coming back to Pawnee. What a surprise! But spoiler alert: it’s not the biggest surprise of the episode.

Meanwhile, some of the gang is watching thriller-we-wish-was-real Death Canoe 4. In more serious news, Jerry also suffers a fart attack, necessitating the need for a garage sale. What kind of fun treasure will the Pawnee crew dig up? Plus, it’s the birth of Rent-a-Swag! Tom finally has a great business idea, and we’re so proud of him.

We also dive into all the random pizza holidays that have been created over the past few years. And Joey shares a fun book worth checking out, Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything. What a tasty tome!

We’re talkin’ ‘bout sex, baby! Leslie has to teach senior citizens about sex education, but Marcia Langman (and her husband Marshall) are here to make things difficult. Meanwhile, Tommy Edamame is obsessed with screens, so Ron takes him out to get some fresh air and real-world experience. It’s disastrous, as you might expect.

Meanwhile, we share some of our more memorable sex education moments. Sean thinks April and Ben are about to become an item - will he prove to be a mind reader of the future? In the meantime, he’s mad about MANY things, including some that are actually topical to parks and rec. This could totally be a deleted scene from Parks and Rec! Except none of us were on the show so it would be a confusing B-plot. Either way, Mike Schur would probably dig it. Let’s get a reboot going!

We also sprinkle in Pokemon puns and noises throughout the episode. Which reminds us, Sean and Joey once re-enacted every Pokemon move in real life. Here it is!

Leslie is trying to keep a pool open for the Pawnee Porpoises youth swim team, but she has to jump through quite a few hoops to make it happen. Classic Jeremy Jamm ruining our plans. Ben and April are stuck in a parking garage for the entire episode. Ron goes on a date with a woman that’s not named Tammy. WHAT?! Chris Traeger has a therapist now, so that means the parks department has to install a 3-1-1 line? Look, this part of the plot doesn’t really make sense, but here we are.

Sean is MAD this episode. Why? Because it illustrates everything that’s wrong with BIG POLITICS. But he sure is impressed by Leslie’s perm. Plus we reminisce about our first encounters with smoking cigars. Much like Tom, we did not like them.

Leslie wants to introduce a soda tax on the ABSURDLY large cups that Sweetums is selling to people. Across the country in Washington, D.C. Ben Wyatt tries to earn the respect of his interns. But first, he has to win over someone near and dear to his heart. While all of that’s going on, Tom and Chris try to get Andy into tip-top shape to join the police force. Andy runs a lot and it gets us winded.

Meanwhile, Sean is in incredible pain from all of the sports he’s been playing recently, we briefly talk about our favorite Oscars films (despite only seeing between 11 and 22 percent of the nominations), and we dissect the wonderful meme of Rob Lowe wearing a hat with the NFL logo on it. Joey also goes on a passionate rant against Apple despite having way too many Apple products, but the rant is only for like 30 seconds. Sorry, Siri.

After we recorded this episode, Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash outside Los Angeles. We hopped on the phone to record an additional outro, sharing some of our favorite Kobe Bryant moments and what he accomplished with basketball, business, and storytelling. If you haven’t seen his Oscar-winning “Dear Basketball” short, we’d highly recommend it.

Welcome to Season 5! The crowd goes wild Leslie, Ben, April, and Andy are all in Washington, D.C. doing very big important government things. Meanwhile, Ron is hosting a BBQ and literally only has the meat, which is still alive. Which one could argue is the most important part, but still. At least give us a plate or something, man. Sean is thrilled that Tom and Ann are no longer an item.

We’re sampling Cookies and Cream Twix because apparently we’re part-timing in ASMR nowadays. We’re putting a twist on trivia, AND we’re adding a new bit: Categories! Exciting stuff all around. Joey also shares a tip for those Instagram Boomerang users out there. And after Chris reprimands Ron, we do a little roleplaying of Sean being stern towards Haleigh. How does that turn out? Find out things like what’s happened with Sean’s enemy that keeps coming into his job, his greatest accomplishments at work, when he let a bunch of children run rampant all over the place, and a heartwarming moment that will make you smile. And we could all use a little more of those warm and fuzzy feelings, you know?

We’ve got questions of our own, too. Will Sean pass out during the episode due to allergies? Will Haleigh defeat Sean in the season trivia? Is Malort the worst drink ever? Will Sean try a new sport in 2020? And is he truly a Hufflepuff? Is it even worth it to watch a New Year’s Eve celebration? Can Sean flex his fingers at all?

It’s our last episode of the year (and decade, some might say)! Leslie and Bobby Newport have a nice chat, even though her tour bus interrupted a memorial for his late father. He’s so forgiving, that Bobby Newport. Chris Traeger needs to keep moving forever or else he’ll dissolve into a pit of darkness. Tom showcases a bit of his entrepreneurial mind with a snazzy alcohol-flavored yogurt concept called Yogurt Platinum.

Mike O’Malley’s here too, though, we like him better as the host of Guts and Global Guts. And this episode features one of Joey’s favorite scenes, when Andy Dwyer – as Bert Macklin – recreates Jerry getting pied by a rogue attacker.

We also discuss whether you can send CBD products through the mail, brazenly forget what the point of the S.S. Anne is in the original Pokemon games, and dive deep into the stats of the different Legends of the Hidden Temple teams. Very topical, as the show is about to get a reboot. Also, Sean dazzles us with his AMAZING Rodney Dangerfield impression, as well as a few other good ones he’s kept hidden up his sleeve.

Here are some of Joey's impressions, too. They’re very bad. Haleigh and Sean each share mischievous stories regarding pianos.

It’s time for a debate! Leslie Knope and Bobby Newport are joined by Pawnee mainstays like Brandi Maxxxx and Fester Trim. We also talk about a bunch of movies, especially when it’s someone’s finest role! That whole conversation is inspired by Andy acting out movies during the live telecast of the debate, because he conveniently forgot to pay the cable bill. Cue obnoxious laughter

Meanwhile, Sean is triggered by many things throughout this episode. He strongly dislikes Perd Hapley (the nerve!), thinks Bobby Newport is the dumb Parks and Rec version of Michael Scott (understandable) and continues to be baffled by the Tom and Ann relationship (aren’t we all).

Haleigh also gets down a rabbit hole with all the Tom Hanks kids. Finally, Sean perhaps went on a firing spree at work, or maybe he just fed them Olive Garden.

And that means we’re having a puppy party at the park! Meanwhile, Chris and Ron go to meditate next to a Greek restaurant with the perfect name: Achilles Meal.

Plus, Sean has finally tried White Claw. Is he as obsessed as everyone else? We’ve also mentioned Peanut Butter Twix many times on this podcast, but Haleigh and Sean have never tried it (and Joey hasn’t tasted it in, like, 18 years). We got new POP filters, y’all. And how fitting, because this episode is poppin’ with new character Jennifer Barkley.
