26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Cletus Emmett Grubbs, 72, of 728 Carrington Lane, Eden, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Annie Penn Hospital, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Rock of Ages Baptist Church with Rev. David Hatcher, Rev. Carlton Dunn, Rev. Don Collins and Rev. Harold Townsend officiating. Interment followed in Dan View Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shawn Clark, Darrell Curry, Gene Hunt, David Jones, Curtis Lovelace and Keith Lovelace. Honorary Pallbearers were Pastor Friends of Rev. Grubbs.

On Thursday morning, August 17, 2023, “Preacher Bob” McCurry finally beheld what he had spent over fifty years preaching about. When I received the news that he had passed, my heart was broken, but I rejoiced for my friend as I began to realize that he had finally made it home.
I told someone that day that I felt sure Bob was finally at the intersection of Hallelujah Avenue and Glory Boulevard just as we’d heard him say so many times. Robert L. McCurry was born on January 3, 1943, in Erwin TN to Hanford and Bonnie McCurry. As a young man, he met the love of his life, Carolyn, through a relative and they were later married on July 8, 1967. After five or six years of marriage, Bob and Carolyn were attending Unicoi Baptist Church where Bob served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and eventually announced his calling into the Gospel ministry. His son Bryan was five, and daughter Beth was two, when the Lord opened the door for Bob and Carolyn to be called to Spring Creek Baptist Church in Buladean where they would faithfully serve as Pastor and wife, for almost 50 years. Bob was working at Magnavox at the time, and he continued there until July of 1975 when they stepped out on faith and entered full-time ministry. Their younger son Israel came along later in 1983. Together they built a life and ministry, along with their three children Bryan, Beth, and Israel and later became “Pappy & Mimmie” to their six grandchildren: Peyton, Gabriel, Jackson, Deegan, Zoey, and Judson. Bob liked to say that your family was the only thing that you could take with you to Heaven, and he was able to lead all nine of his children and grandchildren to the Lord and baptize them.
Bob and his family faithfully made the commute across the mountain to Buladean until June of 1976, when they moved into their home just below the church which had been started earlier in the Spring of that year. Over the next several decades, Bro. Bob faithfully preached the Word of God as he continued to Pastor Spring Creek, and preach revivals that called him to Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, and all over both Carolinas. Bob also had a burden for the people of Jamacia and made at least twenty-six trips there over his ministry, faithfully preaching the Gospel.
Bob was a friend to everyone, and especially to other men of God and preachers that he encountered. Most preachers and members alike were amazed at Bob’s ability to memorize Scripture and quote several passages without opening his Bible. Bro Bob was able to “read it off the walls of his mind” and his sermon titles were always unique and memorable. One of his favorite phrases was “He owns the cattle on a thousand hills” and “Your problem is never too big for God.” Bro Bob had a gift for keeping the message simple and focused on Jesus. His wife, Carolyn, told me recently “We are just simple people, and I am amazed with all that the Lord could do with just simple people. I just want to brag on the Lord and how he used him.”
When asked if Bob had a favorite Scripture, Carolyn said that it would be hard to choose because he had so many favorites, but she always remembered that Bob would use John 14:6 when he was talking to people about salvation and letting them know that “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” If that was Bob’s favorite Scripture would be hard to say, but “Lamb” was Bob’s favorite name for Jesus, and that certainly was his message… that Jesus, the Lamb of God, is the only way.
As we celebrate Pastor Appreciation Month, I am so thankful for the time that I knew Bob McCurry. My first memories of hearing him preach were on a borrowed cassette tape of the message “Eagle Christians” when I was a teenager. Later, he and I formed a friendship as he did with many other Pastors in this area, and that friendship was a great blessing in my life. Bro. Bob was a very special servant of God and will long be remembered in this area and Association as Pastor, Friend, Mentor, and Man of God. It was always a blessing to hear him close a service by thanking God for what he was “doing for my friends around this altar.”
Preacher Bob made a big impact on this area, and on the many lives that he touched. May we follow his example in our ministry, and never lose sight of the simple truth of the Gospel that he preached for over fifty years. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life!

On the afternoon of Monday, September 3, 2018, Dr. Gregory Jack Grant, age 63, of Marion, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord with his loving family by his side. A native of Catawba County, Gregg was born on October 5, 1954 to Jack Grant and the late Ima Jean Reid Grant.
Gregg was a member of West Court Baptist Church for forty-four years. He was in the ministry for over fifty years mostly pastoring and evangelistic work throughout the United States and to four foreign countries. Gregg was an avid sports fan who enjoyed pulling for the Atlanta Braves, University of North Carolina and the Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Gail Parker Grant; two children, Donna M. Grant and Michael Grant and wife Regenia; one brother, Bryan Grant and wife Debbie. Also surviving Gregg are his first grandchild to be born in March; three nephews, one niece and two great-nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at West Court Baptist Church. A homegoing service to celebrate Gregg’s life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at West Court Baptist Church with Reverends Kevin Hager, Tim Huffman, Rick Shoemaker and Dr. Michael Grant officiating. Interment will take place following the service at West Court Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Harmon and Mr. Bryan Grant officiating.

The late Pastor Danny Jarrell, formerly of Asheboro, NC, teaches/preaches on Wednesday evening, March 17, 2004. There seems to be some confusion concerning the name of his church. When I first heard a portion of this message over the air and requested the tape, the name on the broadcast was, To God Be The Glory Independent Baptist Church. Rev. Noah Akers Frye
Our Heavenly Father welcomed home his faithful servant Reverend Noah Frye on December 22, 2021. Rev. Frye service his Lord faithfully for 67 years with his loving wife Polly A. Frye of 72 years faithfully by his side. Rev. Frye was born to Sandy and Minnie Frye of March 29, 1931, in Stuart, Virginia. He was the oldest of four children which all preceded him in death.
Rev. Frye first love was the Lord. His second was his family which he loved deeply. He is survived by his wife Polly A. Mabe Frye; their sons, Jerry (Diane) Frye, Terry (Robin) and daughter Jeannette (Fred) Sinclair. Heaven united him with his daughter Deborah Sue Frye who passed away at six months. He had the joy of being the grandfather to eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Rev. Frye never missed the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was not afraid to share his testimony or explain the gift of salvation. Rev. Frye began his journey with the Lord in 1954 when he founded and pastored Hilltop Baptist Church in Sandy Ridge, NC. In 1965, the Lord moved his ministry to Lexington, NC where he pastored Spruce Street Missionary Baptist Church for 34 years. At the age of 68, he became an evangelist where he traveled thousands of miles from Mississippi to Vermont to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served on the Board of Beams Bible Ministry and supported their ministry financially for many years. Rev. Frye loved his pastor Dr. Michael McDaniel and his church family Currytown Baptist Church where he and “Mrs. Polly" have been members for thirteen years. Rev. Frye will be greatly missed but will always be remembered as a “Great Man of God who loved the Lord and was not afraid to share that love with others”
Rev. Frye’s favorite Bible verse was John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 13, 2022, at Currytown Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Cemetery, Lexington, NC.
The family request that those who attend wear something red, his favorite color.

Evangelist Donald “Don” Denton, age 90, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 18, 2023, at UT Medical Center. He was born June 23, 1933 in Bristol, Va. a son of the late Garnett Lee and Kate Lee Baker Denton. Donald was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. He was founder and pastor of Walkers Mountain Baptist Church for 29 years. He also pastored Crossroads Baptist Church, Barns Chapel, Heavens Gate, Alvarado Bible Church and currently at Deck Valley Independent Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Moore’s Snack Foods, Black Diamond Enterprises and Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara G. Fleenor Denton; and seven brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his children, Jackie Denton, Patricia Severt and husband Tom, Danny Denton and wife Mary Ann, Anthony Denton and special friend, Ellen; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Eunice Cunningham; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church, 20572 Benhams Rd, Bristol, Va. 24202, with Bro. Kyle Falin and Bro. Tom Severt officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:45 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August, 24, 2023 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chad Denton, Travis Denton, Nick Denton, Adam Denton, Caleb Denton, Bradley Ownby, Kurtis Denton, and Rodney Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Hurt, Dennis Eller, Dennis Burnette, Steve Pierce, Zeb Cross, Jeff Eastridge, Christian Fauver and Minister friends of our Daddy. Ronnie was a member and pastor of Watchman Baptist Church. He was instrumental in spreading the gospel for sixty-one years. Bro. Ronnie enjoyed preaching, spending time with his grandchildren and fishing. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 25, 2022 at Watchman Baptist Church with Bro. Curtman officiating; burial will follow in the Voyles Family Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family with the arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Sue Sutton; three sons, Ronnie D. This particular edition of the broadcast, was issued on an LP, from whence this transfer comes. Dr. Billy Jack Goolesby, age 80, of Rome, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 7, 2020. Dr. Goolesby was born in Hollywood, AL on September 4, 1940, son of the late Frank and Irene Tate Goolesby. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers. He served in the U. S. Army National Guard for several years. Dr. Goolesby accepted his call into ministry at the age of 21 years. He received his Doctor of Theology degree from Heritage University. After serving as Pastor for several churches, Dr. Goolesby began his ministry at Rome Baptist Temple on June 1, 1986, where he has served as Pastor for over 34 years. Survivors include his wife, the former Myra Perry, to whom he was married on June 16, 1961; 2 sons, Rev. Stephen Goolesby (Pam) and Jonathan Goolesby; 5 grandchildren, Chance Goolesby, Chase Goolesby, Abigail Goolesby, Luke Goolesby, and Levi Goolesby (Rachel); 2 great grandchildren, Madisyn and Hadlee Goolesby; 7 brothers, Roy Goolesby (Patricia), L. C. Goolesby, Wayne Goolesby, Doyle Goolesby (Gail), David Goolesby, Tony Goolesby (Bea), and Donnie Goolesby (Deb); nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020, at 2pm at Rome Baptist Temple with the Rev. Tony Hutson, the Rev. Donnie Pollard, and his son, the Rev. Stephen Goolesby officiating. Private interment will follow later in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Rosalie, AL. Dr. Goolesby will lie in state at Rome Baptist Temple on Thursday from 4 until 7pm. Allen was born, October 4, 1937, as Robert Verland Allen, son of the late Vince W. and Myrtle McKinley Timms Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson; Vince Allen, and by two sisters; Nettie Allen Baker and Johnnie Ruth Allen Dean. After several months of deep Holy Ghost conviction, he was saved by the grace of God in the summer of 1955. Immediately upon his conversion, he began to witness to others about their need of salvation. This burden became so heavy that he began to speak as a lay preacher in Sunday School classes, cottage prayer meetings, and even in church services every time he was given an opportunity. Bro. Allen announced his calling to preach in 1961. He soon was called to be the pastor of Maple Grove Baptist Church and New Prospect Baptist Church. These were half time churches. In October 1961, Bro. Allen was used of the Lord to organize the Concord Baptist Mission into Concord Baptist Church, and was the only pastor for 59 years. Immediately after he announced his calling into the ministry, God began to open doors for the young fiery preacher to preach revival meetings. This evangelistic ministry grew so fast that by 1964 the young preacher had to leave his job in the carpet mill and go full-time in evangelism. He continued to preach meetings week after week across the country in both small and large churches. In the late 1960s, God began to lay a burden on Bro. Allen’s heart for a Camp Meeting in the area where he lived. After much prayer and waiting upon the Lord, Faith Baptist Camp was born with the first Camp Meeting held under a large tent on the grounds in June 1970. Faith Baptist Camp has been very blessed of the Lord and has been used to be a blessing to so many people and churches across America. As an older man, Dr. Allen is held in high respect by all the Fundamental Baptists all across the country that knows him. He is known as an Evangelist, a Revivalist, a Camp Meeting Preacher, a Pastor, and a Preacher’s Friend by those who know him and love Old Fashion Christianity. He now holds two Honorary Doctorate Degrees. Every student of Faith Baptist Institute will be affected by the leadership of this dynamic man of God. Dr. Allen was married on December 28, 1962, to Jimmie Lou Wilson. She has stood by his side as a faithful, loving, God-fearing wife in every task he has attempted. God has blessed their home with two sons; Samuel (Sabrina) Allen of Resaca, and David (Gwen) Allen of Calhoun; daughter; Hannah Allen of Resaca, grandchildren; Samuel and Alexis Allen of Flowery Branch, Elisabeth Allen of Dalton, Nathanael Allen of Calhoun, Hagen Allen of Resaca and Brianna Allen of Resaca, Great-grandchildren; Caroline Allen of Dalton and Gibson Allen of Flowery Branch, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. The funeral service for Dr. Sammy Allen will be conducted on Friday, August 7, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. from Concord Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Bro. Randy Sutherland will officiate along with Bro. Tony Hudson, Bro. Marion Atkinson, Bro. Denver Boling, Bro. Ronnie Simpson, Bro. Marvin Carr, and Bro. Joe Arthur. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Alan Sosebee, Ken Johnson, Steve Johnson, Nick Johnson, Joey Baker, Scotty Bryant, Ricky Bryant, Brandon Reeves, Doug Wilson, and Mike Andrews; honorary pallbearers are Jim Fox, Bobby Thomas, Mike Bell, Mike Lane, Rev. Charles Henderson, Tyrone Wilson, Donnie Rigdon, Rev. Steve Powers, Rev. David Cash, Stan Ritter, Ronnie Russ, William Nix, Rev. Billy Wilson, Rev. Travis Clayton, Robert Croft, Jamie Trammell, Adam Evans, Brandon Ensley, and Silas Foster.
