In this week's episode I have a great conversation with former Nebraska head manager Noah Lliteras. Noah worked as a manager for the Nebraska basketball program for five seasons. He was fortunate enough to work under two great head coaches in Tim Miles and Fred Hoiberg. We discuss the behind the scenes action that it takes to help make the Husker basketball program successful.
In this week's episode I sit down and visit with recent University of South Dakota guard, Triston Simpson. Triston was a three-year starter for the Coyotes and was an All Summit League Conference player two years. During his junior season he led the entire conference in minutes played per game at 37.1 minutes. Before he starred at South Dakota, he prepped at Lincoln North Star in Nebraska. During his senior season he was a Super-State player for the Gators. We discuss his experience at the University of South Dakota, going through a coaching change, battling through injury, his pursuit of playing professionally, and much much more.
In this week's episode I sit down and visit with Tate Hilgenkamp. Hilgenkamp is currently an assistant coach at Colorado State University Pueblo. As a player, Hilgenkamp played his first two seasons at Sheridan College where they finished with a combined record of 51-13 in his two seasons. He then went on to Division II Black Hills State where he served as team captain his senior season. He started his coaching career as the graduate assistant at Concordia University in Nebraska for two seasons. He then went on to be the Director of Basketball Operations at Minot State for the men's and women's basketball programs. He then moved on to CSU Pueblo where he is currently an assistant coach for the men's basketball program.
In this week's episode I sit down with Washington Generals guard Trey Bardsley. Bardsley had an outstanding college career during his time at Nebraska Wesleyan University. During his senior campaign, Bardsley averaged a career-high 29.1 points per game and went on to win the Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of The Year. He scored 30-or-more points in 15-of-30 games in his senior season and poured in a career-high 55 points in the GPAC tournament semifinals game. Trey holds school records for points in a season with 874, three-pointers in a career with 321, and three-pointers in a season with 146. Bardsley played his high school ball at Beatrice High School in Nebraska, where he played under legendary head coach Jim Weeks
In this week's episode of "The Mayor's Podcast," I sit down and visit with Missouri Western assistant basketball coach Ty Danielson. Danielson served as the Griffons graduate assistant coach for the last two seasons before stepping into the top assistant role this spring. Ty had a tremendous playing career at the University of Nebraska Kearney. He finished third all time in career made three pointers, fourth in career free throw percentage, and twenty-third in career points. He is now one of the brightest up and coming coaches in the country.
In this week's episode I visit with Auburn High School basketball coach Jim Weeks. Coach Weeks is considered to be one of, if not, the greatest high school basketball coaches in the state of Nebraska. He has won over 500 career games throughout his illustrious career. During his tenure at Beatrice High School, he was able to win 3 Class B State Titles. He then went to Doane University where he coached the Tigers to a program best 21 wins in his first season. He currently is the head coach at Auburn High School in Nebraska. He has led the Bulldogs to back-to-back State Titles in class C1 the last two seasons.
In this episode I sit down and visit with South Dakota State guard Baylor Scheierman. Baylor is a sophomore guard for the Jackrabbits. In his freshman season Baylor appeared in all 32 games and started 3 games for SDSU. He averaged 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in his first season. He dropped a career high 17 points against CSU-Bakersfield. Baylor gives us an inside look at what it is like playing at the highest level of college basketball.
I sit down and visit with my first guest Brendon Boomsma to talk about his basketball experience as a player and now the transition into coaching. Boomsma enjoyed a successful career at Dakota State University, leading them to two NAIA Division II National Tournament appearances. He went on to be the Graduate Assistant coach at Concordia Univeristy in Nebraska and helped coach the Bulldogs to a 24-10 record last season and the Conference Tournament Championship.
