TPK was unable to record a full episode this week due to our recording scheduled for Mother's Day. So instead we decided to release a gag reel of sorts, including some from episodes that have never been aired (due to some pretty poor audio quality). TPK will be back on May 22!
Batman: The Killing Joke
This week DC Animation Studios, which has brought us such monumental animated films as The Dark Knight Returns, All Star Superman, and Batman: Under the Red Hood, announced that its next film entitled Batman: The Killing Joke will be aired during San Diego Comic Con. It also released the first full trailer for the film. Based off of the seminal comic of the same name, by Alan Moore (of Watchmen Fame) the story will involve The Joker paralyzes Barbara Gordon in front of her adopted father Commissioner Gordon, then attempting to drive him insane while Batman is driven to his breaking point in attempting to stop the mad clown.
Deadpool: DVD Release
Deadpool: the smash hit from Fox Studios set in the X-Men Universe has been released on Digital HD and will be available on Blu Ray and DVD on May 10th. Not only can we watch the film in all of its hilarity and graphic violence in the comfort of our home but we can geek out on all the special features.
You Don’t Know Dick
The Man in the High Castle is currently airing on Amazon Prime Video and tells the story of an alternate reality wherein the Axis powers won the second world war. Based off of the Philip K. Dick novel it is one of many adaptations of Philip K. Dick’s works. In fact, many sci-fi fans seem to be unaware of Dick’s contribution to the zeitgeist. So we decided to discuss the works of Philip K. Dick that have been immortalized on the screen.

Dr. Strange Trailer (20 Min) Two weeks ago Marvel Studios released the teaser trailer for Dr. Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe. Benedict Cumberbatch plays the titular character, a gifted surgeon who, after a terrible car accident, seeks a mystical cure for his deformed hands. After training with The Ancient One, Strange opened a doorway to another, magical world. Dr. Strange may represent a move toward the magical side of the comic book genre which Marvel has avoided. Since Dr. Strange’s comics often delve into more cosmic forces, this may be used to set up certain character in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War films.
Keanu Keanu is film starring Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, and is essentially a cinematic version of their Comedy Central show Key and Peele. The film is written by Jordan Peele and Alex Rubens (who write most sketches on Key and Peele) and directed by Alex Rubens, who directs most episodes of Key and Peele. The film is centered around a cat, named Keanu, who gets stolen from his owner, played by Jordan Peele, the two venture forth to reclaim the pet but find themselves engulfed in a world of gang violence which is alien to them.
Dr. Who As of yesterday, April 23, Dr. Who announced the replacement for The Doctor’s companion Clara, who left the series at the end of the previous season during halftime of the FA Cup semi-final. The new companion is named Bill and is played by Pearl Mackie, an unknown actress to anyone outside the London Theatre scene. In addition, it has been revealed that this upcoming season will be Steven Moffat’s last season as showrunner, and will be replaced by Chris Chibnall, best known for another BBC show: Broadchurch.
Show Notes:What are we Drinking? Chris was drinking "Me So Honey" by Belching Beaver, Rick was drinking a 21 year aged Rum, and Torin was drinking a poisonous concoction of dihydrogen monoxide. Rick and Chris attempted to talk Torin out of it by explaining that it is toxic if inhaled and contains high concentrations of aquatic waste but Torin could not be deterred.
Batman v Superman Although our panel had mixed reviews of the film, we all agreed that Jeremy Irons' Alfred stole the show during the few minutes of screen time he had. Ben Affleck played Bruce Wayne capably, and perhaps with some more skillful direction in the Batman solo film he might fare better. Gal Gadot and Amy Adams were underutilized in the film to a criminal degree. The film is reminiscent of The Dark Knight Returns, a comic that was animated by DC Animation last year and is by far a better version that Batman v Superman. Lex Luthor was a poorly written character which no internal logic.
Comic Con San Diego and Hall H Comic Con San Diego announced this week that it will be streaming Hall H's panels. The panel discusses if this is a good decision and whether or not it will affect our plans for Comic Con.
Rogue One Trailer Mon Mothma stole the show of the Rogue One trailer. The panel discusses their impressions (mostly positive) of the trailer.
End of Show Rick asks where is the Hulk in Civil War. Mark Ruffalo had some answers for that. Torin discussed the reshoots on Suicide Squad, ostensibly to add more action but probably to course correct after Batman v Superman's failure. Chris suggested DC should make a Lobo film to capitalize on Deadpool's success.
