Paz, Liz, and Julian reread (or in Liz's case, just read) the Warrior Cats books and take a deep dive on the characters, politics, philosophical implications, and logistics of a society of talking cats.
The Clan cats begin their long and arduous journey from the Forest, with a quick pit stop by Ravenpaw and Barley's farm (we'll miss you kings 😢). At Highstones, the cats FINALLY get a sign of where they are going, which unfortunately involves going through the mountains in winter. Surely nothing will go wrong.

After an action-packed escape sequence and Firestar being squashed to death, the Clans all FINALLY agree to leave the forest because 90% of it no longer exists. In the midst of all this, Leafpaw has some of the craziest lesbian drama to date.

Things continue to go so bad in the forest, and things have been going so bad for so long it seems like the Erins are desperately trying to up the pacing. There's some medicine cat drama, a casual love reveal, more death, Windclan is full of skeletons now, and the lead up to an epic fight. Things are going very very bad in the forest, and the Clans are at an impasse of what to do. Midnight's sign never comes, which leaves the prophecy cats in a predicament. Leafpaw also remains trapped with the other cats but learns about the concept of a latch. Also, Tallstar is SO old he's just SO SO old.

WE DID IT!!!! WE'RE DONE MOONRISE! We get the reveal that Feathertail is the chosen one and heroically fridges herself for character development of her brother and love interest, which is bad. The rest of the Team Prophecy cats thankfully leave the mountains behind to return to the forest which they better do quick, because everyone is Actively Dying.
Leafpaw meanwhile has an awful time in the forest, including thinking her big and beautiful girlfriend is briefly evil. Then she gets alien abducted. ):

Things are SO bad in the Forest. Everyone is literally dying while Riverclan are being literally evil through inaction. Leafpaw is definitely going through it, but at least she has a super pretty sweet-smelling ghost to guide her. Meanwhile, the Tribe chapters in the book continue to be full of racist stereotypes and really bad writing, so nothing has changed on that front. Two more episodes before we escape!!
