This piece was composed as part of my masters research. This composition tries to explore an idea of a "musical stutter", reflecting, in an abstract way, a very real condition. And to the exploration of this concept, I've used the iPad with particular emphasis on the musical application "borderlands".
Guitar - Vitja Pauwels iPad - Bruno Ferreira
This work(2012)is based on the constant interference of a given poem - "Ariane", from Miguel Torga - and the underlying audio landscape.
Premiered of my "Regina Cæli", on December 19th, 2015, at Cerva (Ribeira de Pena) - Portugal
the initial audio fragment is the "trigger" beneath this piece and all sounds where idealized and are linked by this initial concept
The original concept for this piece was the idea of two opposite "individuals", which one with their own speech/voice. This was the result of a collaboration with contemporary dancer Nick Coutsier and was premiered at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, 2015.
If you like it, share it!!
Thank You
Picture yourself in a roller coaster: the slow beginning of the journey, your perception of the other amusements that surround you; the vertical climb to the highest point of the roller coaster, where you perceived the world beneath you in a kind of a "slow motion"; and the big breath before diving in the last, faster and hysterical turn... Well, that's how i imagine it...
Narcissus, for String Quartet This piece was inspired in the paint of Salvador Dali " The Metamorphosis of Narcissus" and, consequently, in the greek mythological character. The piece ia about a possible journey of Narcissus, from a hunting scene, the unrequited love affair from the nymph "Eco" and, lately. his transformation into a flower.
I gave a very different approach, both musically and "spiritually" The interval that the "high pad" does, that 7th major, evokes the melodic movement of the Trumpet and the Solo Voice but that's almost the only link to the original sound. There're many great and powerful sounds, I just tried a different "road"! All the best and good luck for everyone!
