This week, we spoke with Tanjuria Willis, founder of Atlanta Sustainable Fashion Week. According to their website, "Atlanta Sustainable Fashion Week (ATLSFW) was created to bridge the gap between consumers and sustainable fashion brands with the goal of building a zero carbon emissions footprint."
The event provides three goals:
- Education to teach consumers about sustainable clothing and how their textile choices affect their lives.
- Awareness of sustainable brands to consumers and buyers, and
- Accessibility to shop and purchase sustainable clothing and other sustainable products.

This week, we spoke with Abraham Corrillo, founder and owner of Roman Supply Co. - a sustainable fashion brand based in Atlanta, GA. Abraham's brand focuses on creating sustainable, one-of-a-kind pieces made from fabrics he finds at various Goodwill of North Georgia stores.

About Keren: As Atlanta’s Thrift Expert, Keren Duclosel founded the Thrifting Atlanta Facebook Group in 2011 as a way to share her passion for thrift shopping and a resource for those wanting the insider scoop on the thrift scene in Atlanta. Her genuine love for thrifting, creativity, and helping others, helped her to organically grow her group to over 68K members worldwide. Through in-person events including thrift & brunch series, bus tours, quarterly pop-up shops, fashion swaps and our annual Thrifting Atlanta Fashion Week, her community is able to spread the joy and art of thrifting in the city they affectionately call home ATLANTA!
During the country’s lockdown due to the pandemic in 2020, Keren saw the need for her members to continue to be able to enjoy their love for thrifting and provided an opportunity for members to resell via Facebook LIVE Sales on her platform. It was an immediate success with her community.
As a result, many Thrifting Atlanta members seized the opportunity to step into the world of entrepreneurship and started their own resale business. Keren was instrumental in providing resources and guidance to these women, most of whom are African American, as they navigate the world of business ownership.
This week, we're speaking with Kevin Hood, one of Goodwill's Skills Instructors. He talks about his career journey with Goodwill and coaching strategies for success.
On today's episode, we're joined by guest Alicia Battle, Senior Director for Mission Partnerships here at Goodwill of North Georgia. She explains what exactly a Career Center is, what is offered to job seekers there, and how we help fulfill our mission to put people to work.

Communities in Schools (CIS) of Atlanta works to bust through those obstacles, helping area students overcome challenges that might stand in their way of graduating and success.
Trinity Community Ministries joins the show in the last segment. This organization is a 36-bed transitional housing facility where Atlanta’s recovering homeless and veteran population goes to reclaim their lives and return to their families in communities as mentors and leaders.
No Longer Bound offers a 12-month long, residential, regeneration process to rescue addicts, regenerate men, and reconcile families. Tune in to hear from Graham Skinner, Clinical Outreach Coordinator and survivor of addiction.

The mission of Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities is to create systemic change through advocacy and capacity-building so that people with developmental disabilities and their families are more independent, economically self-sufficient, integrated and included into their communities, and self-determined in their lives.
MADIOC (Making a Difference in Our Community) joins the show in the last segment to discuss how their organization provides mentoring, tutoring, life-skills, community service and youth advocacy.
March of Dimes is an organization that fights for the health of all moms and babies. They partner with hospitals to provide special attention and resources for families going through their journey. Through their funding, they support critical research and help move the needle on advancements in birth health.
Andrea Hancock, Founder and Executive Director of PEST Relief International, joins the show in-studio for the last segment. PEST stands for Professionals Empowering, Sustaining, and Transforming. “Our desire is to engage the pest community on a global level to help provide safe shelter, nutrition, education, physical and emotional health, spiritual enrichment,” Hancock said.
The Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) is Georgia's largest service provider for the blind and visually impaired. They believe every person with vision loss should be able to live with independence and dignity. This single goal guides the activities of CVI.
Women in White Coats is a forum for women in healthcare to discuss the issues that face us as a group. It is a place to advocate for change in improving inequalities in healthcare. It also is a place to provide mentorship to the next generation of women in white coats.
Empowering Readers Literacy Project, Daughters Against Alzheimers 011319 by The Good Works Show
Kirk Hines and John Abel of A.G. Rhodes joined the show in-studio. The organization has been around since 1904, starting as a nursing home and then expanding to three different locations.
In the last segment, , Paige Kubik, CEO of Atlanta’s Frazer Center, joined the show. The organization was founded in 1949, when a family of a child with Cerebral Palsy was told they should institutionalize the child.
Take2Heart is an organization focused increasing awareness of blood pressure screenings for kids. This can be life-saving information, and taking preventative measures is important. Tune in to find out how Take2Heart is working with schools to make sure teachers and nurses are on board with this important effort!

Antoinette Huff was the hero that stopped a gunman from carrying out a school shooting at Donald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in 2013. Her story has now been turned into a book and a movie, and she has started her own nonprofit. Hear what this organization is doing to take our next generation to the next level.

The state of Georgia has more landfills than any other state on the eastern seaboard and 79% of what is thrown away can be recycled. In the second segment, CHaRM Atlanta joined the show to explain how they are helping collect materials and objects that are too harmful or bulky to recycle curbside. This includes electronics, household chemicals, paint and medications.
Humorology Atlanta is a local nonprofit that brings professional clown doctors to the bedsides of hospitalized children.
