Rev. Bob Cummings, Pastor of Care Ministries at Christ Church at Grove Farm, led us in this series, which started on September 29th, 2023 through November 3rd. All lesson plans, audio of the teaching and the transcript of the audio are listed below. Rev. Jeff Stivason is returning to the Barn on Friday, November 10th, 2023 to revitalize an old series, “A Wayward Prophet.” Please join us to learn from our main teacher as he has come to a stabilizing point with his wife Tabatha’s battle with breast cancer.

Rev. Ted Wood has been committed to carrying on and scheduling the ministry of teaching the Brave Men in the spirit of Bruce Bickel, our founding teacher and his successor, Jeff Stivason, all in the power of the Holy Spirit. We have been delighted how well the teaching has gone. Lots of different content with substance. Thanks be to God.

On Friday, January 20, 2023 Rev. Stivason wrapped up this study and on Friday, January 27th he took us back to “Romans – The Gospel of God.”
As the Rev. Jeff Stivason, Ph.D. concluded our previous series on How to Study the Bible he said, “Hey, just so you know. Because you guys had so much interest in eschatology in our last talk together, next week I think what we’ll do is, we’ll just take a tour through 2 Thessalonians. It’s got the man of lawlessness there and things pertaining to the end times. So I’ll just crassly appeal to your desires.” So therefore we started this new series on Friday, September 16, 2022.

We meet at the Barn on Friday’s at 6:30am to study God’s word. The Barn, located on the campus of Christ Church at Grove Farm, opens at 6am and our study begins at 6:30.

On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, Doug Wicker will start a new series for our Zoom@Noon Bible Study, entitled, “The Christ of Exodus.” Doug will be our teacher for these Tuesday Bible Studies as Bruce Bickel recovers from his recent surgery. Rev. Jeff Stivason started this study on Valentine’s Day in February of 2020. From the Barn to pre-recorded session of Jeff teaching remotely to back in the Barn God got us through this insightful letter to the Ephesians. On Friday, July 26, 2019, Rev. Jeff Stivason, Ph.D. began this new series and wrapped up on Friday, February 7, 2020 with a lecture on the inter-testamental period. Jeff walked us through the Old Testament exploring all the riches of the “Torah,” the Prophets, the Psalms, Proverbs, the wisdom and poetry literature, all laying the foundation for the redemption of God’s people with the coming of the promised Messiah. On Friday, May 24, 2019, Rev. Jeffery Stivason, Ph.D. began a new series on the Old Testament book of the Prophet Jonah. Please join us for this insightful study about a reluctant “prophet.” Read this short book, four chapters and prepare as we meet every Friday at 6:30am at the Barn at Christ Church at Grove Farm. Dr. Bruce Bickel
On Friday, December 21, 2018, Dr. Bruce Bickel decided to pass the teaching baton on to Dr. Jeff Stivason permanently. Bruce indicated that he is not able to get prepared and be at our Bible study given the time of day of our study. He loved teaching us and knows that we will be in good hands with Jeff. It was an honor to have Bruce with us on Friday, December 21st, as we celebrated his teaching us in this past year. Unfortunately his Parkinson’s is progressing even though he is able to slow it down with physical therapy. Bruce will still be teaching on Tuesday’s at noon in Downtown Pittsburgh at First Presbyterian Church on Sixth Ave. You can always visit him there and benefit from his teaching. Bruce is willing to fill in for Jeff as needed but Jeff will now be our main teacher. Grace and peace to Bruce. May God’s healing hands surround him and comfort him and his wife Becky.
On Friday, October 5, 2018, Dr. Bruce Bickel announced that he would need to have Dr. Jeff Stivason teach us for the remainder of 2018. Bruce’s doctors want him to start a new physical therapy regime to battle his Parkinson’s disease. As a result of dehydration and possibly complications with his Parkinson’s Bruce suffered a “minor” stroke on Sunday, October 7, 2018, and was hospitalized. His speech was fine on Monday, and the test results were all good so he was released on Tuesday, October 9th. Let’s continue to surround Bruce and his wife Becky in prayer asking God to restore his health.

On Friday, May 25, 2018, Dr. Bruce Bickel had returned to teach us by launching this series on Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi. We were very excited to have Bruce back with us and to study with him. Dr. Bickel started off this study with an intense look at “The Sovereign Work of the Holy Spirit.” All the materials are below for your review. Dr. Bickel is our main teacher in this series unless otherwise indicated. Invite your friends to join us every Friday at the Barn.
