Who is this for? Pod Pit is primarily aimed at aspiring young designers and creatives who are about to fly solo. And business people who enjoy learning about creativity, processes, entrepreneurship, challenge, sacrifice, success and juggling families with running a business. Who am I and why am I doing this? I'm Gareth Robertson and I am a graphic designer. I help savvy business leaders be seen, heard and remembered with powerful graphic design.I'm a visual communicator and I love a good story when it's discussed with passion. I believe that we learn, grow and succeed by communicating and digesting information through stories. This podcast is a new platform for my large and ever expanding network of contacts to tell their own special story; and for me and others to learn more about them. Pod Pit provides insight through stories, guidance through familiar narratives and connection through communication. All guests on the show are real people with real and incredible stories to tell and they've kindly agreed to share that story on Pod Pit.

Yaron Engler is a coach. He coaches men to be better in life. Be it business or personal, men can find themselves under pressure to provide, do more, be more and very often receive little to no praise for their efforts.
Men frequently suffer in silence because they’re hard wired that way. They don’t (or can’t) talk about they pressures, battles, worries and challenges.
Because that would be weak.
Wouldn’t it?
Yaron is here to reset this. He’s here to coach men through the challenges of life so they understand themselves and their pressures better. So they can react accordingly and do more, be more and enjoy the victory of achieving.

Yes it's a business podcast - yes we are talking rugby BUT … it’s my podcast and I want to talk about the Lions!
Word of warning - there is no language filter on this episode - whatever is spoken, is spoken! The law of kangaroo court will be upheld and what goes on the poddy, stays on the poddy!
The Lions tour happens once every 4 years - it’s a big deal in rugby terms. I wanted to select a fans favourite alternate Lions squad in advance of Warren Gatland’s big announcement on May 6th! So to help with this mammoth task, I asked all of my rugby savvy chums - all of them were busy so I ended up with Matt Gair and John Cooper…
Matt is an old school friend and gym training partner who is a rugby nut. John is a business colleague and collaborator, we’ve become good friends through our shared love of rugby. Both of these gents’ contact details are below…

Tony and I met via a mutual friend who interviewed us both for his podcast in separate episodes. We both enjoyed listening to our respective episodes so much that we connected on Facebook and have followed each other’s journey through lockdown since then.
Contact info for Tony:
It is fair to say that our journey's in, out and back in to lockdown during the pandemic, have been quite different but we both share some strong values, methods and outlook for our businesses. We decided to do an interview for Pod Pit that discussed some of these values and one in particular that we’ve both had to demonstrate in recent times… Resilience.
Tony is going through this period right now and I’ve had some tough times where my resilience was stretched to breaking point so what better time to dig deep on this than right now?!
In this episode, we talk openly and honestly about what character traits we can look to develop in order to build resilience. This is an episode with lots to takeaway:
This is a rollercoaster of information from a guy who has lived his worst nightmare in the last 12 months, but has ultimately come out of it with a more robust and profitable business.

I'm super excited about this one because it is an interview with my first boss, Peter Howard. Over the years, Pete and I have become great friends and I have so much respect for him as a designer and a businessman. While working with Pete, I learnt so much about the graphic design industry and had my eyes opened to lots of the unseen, untaught soft skills of the business world.
In this episode, we talk in detail about the way the graphic design industry has evolved into what it is today.
This is a great listen for any creatives out there and also businesspeople who will no doubt find takeaways from the chat about an industry that touches so many other areas of business...

Episode 1 of Pod Pit is an introduction to the podcast to cover what it is all about, what type of content to expect and what the guest list is looking like. I’m Gareth, the host and I’m joined by Wendy Hill who is a friend, client and networking colleague. The reason I asked Wendy to interview me in this episode is because it was Wendy who introduced me to podcasting back in 2019. She interviewed me for her own podcast and I thought it would make sense to bring her on to Pod Pit to help launch it.
Please check out Wendy's website and podcast using the links below...

Wendy interviews Gareth on:
Why do a podcast?
Who is this for?
Naturally, there is a creative theme running through my plans for Pod Pit - and that is because I’m a creative and i’m comfortable talking and leading discussion in this sphere but there are crossovers into general business chat and family life as well. A lot of my peers in business listen to podcasts and three things many SME operators have in common is the challenges business throws up, the need to think creatively to make your business work and the joy and juggling of family life. So I will kind of tick off those three areas in various episodes. I think this will be useful for young creatives who are about to fly solo and for business leaders who are looking to hear incredible stories from people just like them.
What type of content can we expect to see?
As I touched on there will be a lot of creative content and topic. I’ve got episodes lined up covering graphic design, interior design, web development, marketing, and personal branding. I’ve got a vast array of general business content planned - growth, strategy, IT, data, money in business and some cool stuff like getting fit for work, how to set up a business in a pandemic and working away from home in different countries. I have a lot of family based content to - kids, parenting, supporting vulnerable parents during Covid and how challenging homeschooling kids is when running a business.
What does the guest list look like?
STACKED! I’ve pulled strings to get some really amazing people on. Internationally renowned designers, copywriters, web developers, authors, fit-pros, I’ve got a couple of elite athletes - former Olympian and a current British boxing champion. Tons of really really amazing business people who are operating on a high level within their industry. It should be a very very insightful podcast once we get some traction and I’m super excited to kick it all off!
