International week has seen a stark contrast in spirits on either side of the Glasgow divide, as Celtic embraced the opportunity to pause, reset and regroup following that vital win at Ibrox. Crucially it’s also given some of our new signings a chance to settle in to their new surroundings before another crucial run of games and they look to nudge their way into Brendan Rodgers’ side. Three new midfielders have joined in the form of Odin Thiago Holm, Kwon and Paulo Bernardo and the manager now has some big calls to make in that area of the park. We saw signs at Ibrox that his methods were getting through to the players and with the squad now boosted by the new signings there’s plenty reasons for optimism ahead of the next phase of the campaign. Elsewhere we provide a focus on Feyenoord as the Bhoys get set for a return to the top table of European football – but can we do enough to make it out of Group E? It’s been a mixed start to life under Brendan Rodgers second time around but that all changed with one swing of Kyogo’s right boot in Sunday’s Glasgow Derby. The Japanese star proved his worth once again to give his side all 3 points in what could turn out to be a vital moment in the managers return to the club. The win sends the Bhoys into the international break in high spirits and now allows us to regroup after a hectic start to the campaign. With the summer transfer window now firmly closed Rodgers knows the players he’ll be working with until January at least, and can now plan accordingly for the next phase of the season. Elsewhere our Champions League campaign will see us line up against some big hitters as we look to make an impact at the top table of European football. Now in his third season as Celtic Captain, Callum McGregor is facing the biggest challenge of his leadership as he and his team-mates navigate a tricky start to the campaign. The skipper has more than enough credit in the bank for what he’s achieved at the club but by his own high standards he knows he’s fallen short in recent weeks and will be driven to put that right as soon as possible. Elsewhere Sead Haksabanovic is in the huff due to a lack of gametime and opted to share his frustrations on social media. Time may already be up for the Montenegran international however and we wait to see if he’s still a Celtic player by the weekend. Losing just the third competitive game of the season is never enjoyable, but conceding one of last season’s Treble Trophies into the bargain makes for a particularly bruising weekend. It can be hard to take positives from such an encounter but one such blessing could be the early wake up call that will have been heard loud and clear to Brendan Rodgers, his players, and the Celtic board. All parties must respond strongly to the defeat. And quickly. Injuries or not Rodgers must find a way to get his available players ticking, whilst the players themselves need to shake off the cobwebs of a sluggish start to the season. As for the board, they now have just ten days to fully back the manager and show that their ambitions match his as well as those of the wider fanbase. Brendan Rodgers hadn't lost a single match in domestic cup competition as Celtic manager before this afternoon's clash with Kilmarnock. He has now. And he and his side can have no complaints. Injuries to key players Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate can explain part of the problem but that aside Celtic lacked a spark and a desire and barely troubled the Kilmarnock goal all afternoon. We knew we'd face a robust challenge and on the day the players failed to meet that challenge. The work Celtic now do in the remaining days of the transfer window could define our season. It’s unusual to come away from Pittodrie with a 3-1 win, with three points in the bag, and with our 100% start to the league campaign intact – and STILL find plenty room for improvement! But that’s where we find ourselves this week. That said it’s not hypercritical to suggest that Celtic can and will improve under Brendan Rodgers despite the win in the North East, as they get up to speed with the returning manager’s methods. A minor knock to Cameron Carter-Vickers highlighted our lack of defensive re-enforcements and though Stephen Welsh performed admirably in his absence it would seem there’s still work to be done there ahead of another crack at the Champions League. With a little over two weeks left of the transfer window we also discuss if know is the very time to panic, or if we can hold off on our panicking until at least next week! Celtic are finally back in competitive action, and finished the opening weekend of the season exactly where we finished at the end of last season – at the very top of the Scottish Premiership table! The win against Ross County wasn’t perhaps as routine as the scoreline suggests but there were plenty of positive takeaways from Matchday 1. A Man of the Match display from two goal David Turnbull, some Kyogo magic in and out of the penalty box, and a rare right footed strike from Matt O’Riley. We also witnessed what looks like a farewell appearance from Swedish stopper Carl Starfelt and he’ll go with everyone’s best wishes following two very successful seasons at the club. With 3 weeks of the transfer window remaining there’s now some additional work to be done and it remains to be seen what Brendan Rodgers will prioritise between now and September 1st. Celtic played out their penultimate pre-season friendly in Dublin at the weekend and there was plenty for Brendan Rodgers to be pleased about after an entertaining 1-1 draw with Premier League Wolves. The debut from new Bhoy Kwon Hyeokkyu was one of the biggest highlights though with the South Korean looking like he could be a real find in the heart of the midfield. Elsewhere we're now counting the days until we open our Scottish Premiership campaign against Ross County at Celtic Park. We should be ready for the Highlanders, but are we ready yet for the challenges we'll face beyond that? And finally, this week also sees one club man James Forrest rewarded with a testimonial against Atletico Bilbao on Tuesday night. With over 450 appearances and 22 major honours in the Hoops it's a night he absolutely deserves and it should be a special night for him and his family.

Hot on the heels of confirming South Koreans Yang Hyun-Jun & Kwon Hyeok-Kyu Celtic have added Polish defender Maik Nawrocki to the mix as our summer signing spree gathers pace. The 22 year old centre half becomes our fifth addition of the window and will likely go straight into a side still feeling the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers in defence. Celtic said sayonara to their Portuguese training camp this week as they jetted in to Japan for the next stage of pre-season preparation. Brendan Rodgers’ side will play two games there this week, giving the manager a further opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the new season. Whilst we all eagerly await news of new arrivals, its vital that substantial cuts are also made to the squad with almost 40 players currently making up the first team pool. South Korean youngsters Yang Hyun-Jun & Kwon Hyeok-Kyu should be confirmed as our latest arrivals any day now and will immediately join their new colleagues in Japan. Elsewhere Rodgers refuses to rule out a move for former star Kieran Tierney. Could a short term return to Celtic Park be on the cards?

Celtic skipper Callum McGregor has displayed his incredible commitment to the club by penning a new deal that will keep him at Celtic Park until the summer of 2028.

Described by Brendan Rodgers as the “heartbeat” of the team and his “coach on the field” the 30 year old has played a huge part in Celtic’s domestic dominance during his time at Celtic Park and following last season’s treble success has now claimed 20 major honours.

And he’s showing no signs of letting up any time soon!

Elsewhere team-mates Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda showed their own intent to be part of the Rodgers Revolution by agreeing new 4-year deals of their own.

Whilst we’re all keen to see new arrivals over the summer it’s great business by the club and lays the foundations for what’s to follow in Rodgers’ second spell as manager.

Eoghan O'Connell arrived at Celtic Park from Cork as a 16 year old in 2011 and would go on to play first team football under Neil Lennon, Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers over six years at the club.

Though his playing time at centre half would be limited due to the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Jason Denayer and Charlie Mulgrew he picked up valuable experiences during his time, including a Champions League debut against Messi, Neymar and Suarez in the Nou Camp!

Now playing his part in Wrexham's revival under Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhinney, the Irishman spent some time with The Celtic Exchange ahead of his return to pre season training to tell us of life at Celtic for a young footballer.

Included are tales of his debut under Neil Lennon, his challenges with Ronny Deila, and of the meticulous approach of our recently re-appointed manager Brendan Rodgers.

Brendan Rodgers and his players returned to Lennoxtown today (Mon 3rd July) as preparation for the 2023/24 season officially got underway.

It’s set to be a busy summer with two new arrivals already confirmed in the shape of Odin Thiago Holm & Marco Tilio, whilst Portuguese star Jota looks set for a money spinning move to Saudi Arabia.

We take a look at the new Bhoys, assess the impact of Jota’s exit and discuss the now confirmed Scottish Premiership fixtures as the Hoops target a third consecutive title.

Anthony Joseph from the Sky Sports News Desk joined us this morning and he couldn’t have timed it any better with Celtic’s summer transfer window going into overdrive over the last 24 hours.

The big breaking news is that our Portuguese superstar Jota looks set to make a money spinning move to the Saudi Arabian Pro League in a transfer that could 10X his current salary, with Anthony providing the inside story on that one.

The first two signings of the Brendan Rodgers era (Part Two!) have also been confirmed with Australian youngster Marco Tilio today joining Norwegian Odin Thiago Holm at Celtic Park.

Speaking of Rodgers, we also get Anthony’s take on how his surprising return all came to be, and on the reassurances he’s received from Michael Nicholson and co. about the direction that the club is heading in.

In a sensational turnaround Brendan Rodgers once again finds himself as manager of Celtic Football Club.

It’s not something the vast majority of fans ever expected to happen following his departure in February 2019 but football’s a funny game at times, and here we are!

Paddy, James and Mif got on the mics today (Tuesday) to give their initial response to the appointment and to debate some of the big questions many fans will be asking.

He was undoubtedly the standout candidate, but should we all just forgive and forget? What assurances will he have sought from the Celtic board? And what will constitute success in his second spell in the Celtic Park hot-seat?

It’s an intriguing appointment and one which has sent fans into overdrive as the debate rages on over his return.

If rumours are to be believed an ex-manager is set for a sensational return to Celtic Park but a variety of candidates continue to be linked – some familiar, some not so much.

With Champions League football to look forward to, a talented first team squad and a healthy summer transfer budget to play with it’s an enviable role for whoever lands the role.

On a far less serious note we also take the opportunity to dish out our “Alternative End of Season Awards” following yet another trophy laden season for the club.

The opportunity to set world records doesn’t come around very often, but this is exactly where Celtic now find themselves after another stunning season.

Celtic justifiably swept the boards at the annual end of season awards this weekend, with Kyogo, Jota, Matt O’Riley and Ange Postecoglou all receiving individual awards for their efforts across the campaign.

With the league and league cup safely in the bag, and with an unprecedented 8th domestic treble still to play for, it was the only logical outcome.

Knowing full well that he wouldn’t be taking his place in this season’s Scottish Cup Final regardless the outcome of Sunday’s Semi-Final, Cameron Carter-Vickers made the decision to literally put his body on the line in order to put his team-mates on the verge of history.

The ultimate team player!

The US international has been an absolute rock at the heart of Celtic’s defence since his arrival in late summer 2021 and showed why he’s just so vital to Ange Postecoglou’s side with a colossal display against Rangers at Hampden Park.

Some teams talk the talk, some walk the walk, and once again Ange Postecoglou’s side done the latter as they booked their place in this season’s Scottish Cup Final with a 1-0 win over Rangers.

The Hoops were boosted by the return of Reo Hatate and Jota to the starting line-up and it was a goal by the Portuguese winger that ultimately separated the sides on the day.

Huge credit goes to the Celtic defence too and especially to Man of the Match Cameron Carter-Vickers as they stood up resolutely to everything Rangers could throw at them across the second half at Hampden Park.

Once again it was a game that Rangers had to win. And once again they failed to do so.

Celtic now return to the National Stadium on Saturday 3rd of June as Ange Postecoglou players look to take a place in history by winning a World Record 8th Domestic Treble.

Almost 25 years ago to this very day, a young Norwegian striker named Harald Brattbakk stepped into the path of a Jackie McNamara cross, steered the ball into the back of the St Johnstone net, and in doing so firmly cemented his place in Celtic’s history books for all eternity!

The date was the 9th of May 1998 and as we all know this was the day that Wim Jansen’s Celtic “Stopped the Ten” thanks in large to Scandanavian Strikers Henrik Larsson and Harald Brattbakk.

Now, almost a quarter of a century later we were joined by writer Jim Orr, and actor James McAnerney as they prepare to return with the “Bend It Like Brattbakk” play to celebrate one of the most important seasons in our modern history!

Pat Clinton has packed a lot into his 50 or so years as a Celtic supporter and in this special episode of The Celtic Exchange he shares with us his Celtic story.

Ange took the chance to mix things up at Rugby Park on Sunday and for the very first time we witnessed Yuki Kobayashi, Tomoki Iwata and Sead Haksabanovic all in the same starting XI.

It’d be foolish to think that was the sole reason for the Bhoys roaring into a four goal lead after just 27 minutes, but what we do know is that Ange has been looking for an opportunity to further embed these players into his system.

Having only joined the club this season, many are suggesting that they (amongst others) will form a key part of Ange’s future plans as he targets a a second crack at the Champions League in 2023/24.

Even though Celtic weren’t at their brilliant best in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Rangers, a familiar pattern played out before, during and after the game.

Before it we endured the usual bravado from the south side of the city – from club officials as well as fans - telling us we were ‘there for the taking’ and that Rangers had ‘closed the gap’ on Celtic.

During the game – as this side tend to always do under Ange Postecoglou, especially when it matters most – Celtic found a way to win! It’s now 6 games and counting since Celtic lost to Rangers in the league.

If it wasn’t Michael Beale, it was captain James Tavernier and team-mate Todd Cantwell reverting to what has become a very familiar excuse culture in the aftermath of another Glasgow Derby defeat.

Good sides always find a way to win and that’s exactly what Ange Postecoglou’s side done this afternoon at Celtic Park.

This team are capable of playing far better than they did today but some days the result is more important than the performance (don’t let Ange hear you say that though) and the win now takes Celtic 12 points clear with just 7 games to play.

This league title race is over!

Kyogo stepped up once again with a double on the day to take his tally against Rangers to 5, and his record for the season now stands at 28 goals.

Jota grabbed the third with some sharp reactions to extend Celtic’s winning streak to 16 games.

We’re also now 30 games unbeaten domestically and have lost just once in 64 league games.

Celtic deserve all the plaudits coming their way but this season’s not over by a long stretch with records still to be broken, and silverware still to be won!

From our very foundation in November 1887, charity has always been at the beating heart of Celtic Football Club.

Now, some 135 years later Celtic FC Foundation continue to honour the legacy of founding father Brother Walfrid by creating opportunities and providing much needed support for some of the most vulnerable groups in our society.

As we approach 10 years since their own launch in October 2013, we sat down with Celtic FC Foundation CEO Tony Hamilton and Celtic author Matt Corr to discuss some of the amazing programmes that the Foundation operate, and of the thousands who benefit from their work each and every day.

Tony talks of some of the highlights during those 10 years and of the appreciation for the many individuals – like Matt – who have gone that extra mile to support the phenomenal work they do.

In just over 2 weeks’ time Matt will be attempting the world famous Boston Marathon (his 7th marathon in total, and 3rd on behalf of Celtic FC Foundation!) as he once again dons the Hoops for 26.2 miles on the global stage.

Amongst Celtic supporters there’s a huge sense of pride in the Foundation and in the work they do for those most in need, and rightfully so.

Since his £4.3M arrival from Rubin Kazan, Carl Starfelt has been a rock at the heart of the Celtic defence.

His stats speak for themselves, and incredibly Celtic have NEVER lost a Scottish Premiership game when he’s he and Cameron Carter-Vickers have started together.

New signing Oh smashed home his first goal for Celtic at the weekend - a strike which was also our 100th of the 2022/23 season.

Shortly after, Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate nudged that figure up to 102 as this relentless Celtic side show no sign of letting up in front of goal.

The goalscoring figures for our 36 games in all competitions are incredible, and with potentially 17 games left to play Ange Postecoglou’s men could be set to blow all previous records out the water!

The target for Celtic when entering any transfer window is to ensure that we come out the other side even stronger.

This weekend’s League Cup semi-finals presented a perfect opportunity to show off Scottish Football in the best possible way, as 4 of our top flight sides came together at the National Stadium to compete for a place in next month’s final.

Instead the players were met with a park that would be seriously questioned at amateur level, and a level of officiating that left many wondering why VAR was ever introduced in the first place.

These are just the latest failings of the SFA but the list is lengthy and the time for action is now if respectability is to be restored in the Scottish game.

Celtic came out of the New Year’s Derby with their 9 point lead at the top of the table intact and can be pleased with that after a mixed performance at Ibrox.

Ange had some big calls to make with his starting line-up and it could be debated he got some right and some wrong on the day.

His exceptional use of second half substitutions can’t be argued with though as Jota, Mooy and Giakoumakis all played a part in the move that led to Kyogo’s crucial late strike!

Elsewhere, the catalogue of VAR decisions going against Celtic continues to grow with Connor Goldson being allowed to play volleyball in the box as Celtic pressed for an equaliser.

We’re now 10 games into VAR in Scottish Football and a system that started poorly on an October lunchtime at Tynecastle, has now become an increasing concern.

Martin O'Neill stepped outside the main doors at Celtic Park on the 1st June 2000 and declared that he would do “everything in his power” to bring some success back to Celtic Football Club.

By the end of his first season he had reclaimed the Scottish League title, won both domestic cups, and for good measure delivered a 6-2 hammering of bitter rivals Rangers along the way.

This was a first Treble for the club since Jock Stein's side achieved the same feat 31 years earlier in 1969.

European success would also follow as O'Neill's Celtic dispatched Ajax to qualify for the Champions League Group Stages where we would face the likes of Juventus and Porto.

The following season then took us on the Road to Seville. A journey that many supporters will never forget.

All in all it was a thrilling, trophy laden, glorious 5 years for the Irishman at Celtic Park.

A man who built the platform on which the modern Celtic now sits.

As Celtic supporters we're all hugely familiar with the name Brother Walfrid, but how much do we actually know about the man himself?

In a new piece of work, Dr Michael Connolly has opened the door on one of the most important figures in the history of Celtic Football Club.

A man who without his vision, there may be no Celtic to speak of.

It's an enlightening tale of the man who - like so many others of the time - made the journey from Ireland to Scotland in the mid-19th century in search of a better life.

Instead, Walfrid's lifetime would be committed to improving the lives of others.

As the title of the book tells us, his life was one of "Faith, Community & Football" and is a story which deserves to be heard by the wider Celtic audience.

The Scottish Premiership resumed this weekend, with Celtic picking up exactly where they left off.

Scoring goals and winning games.

Jim Goodwin’s Aberdeen took a surprisingly negative approach to the game however, with only an 87th minute goal by Callum McGregor ensuring all 3 points returned to Glasgow.

It was a game which gifted us the rarely spotted 8-0-2 formation.

And despite that, it was a game which Aberdeen very nearly took something from.

Is it a poor reflection on Scottish Football that this is what we’re seeing from a team generally accepted as the third force in the country?

Following confirmation that Japanese centre-half Yuki Kobayashi will become Celtic's first signing of the January window, and with Canadian right-back Alistair Johnston set to follow, is it clear that Ange Postecoglou has now prioritised Celtic's defence as an area for improvement?

Celtic’s 2-1 win over Ross County on Saturday was the club’s twenty-third game of what’s been an eventful season so far.

One of the most exciting pieces of news to come out of Celtic's recent AGM was confirmation from Ange Postecoglou that the club will be undertaking an "aggressive" new transfer strategy as we aim to bridge the gap between ourselves and Europe's biggest clubs.

This may mean fans having to bid farewell to some of the current crop of heroes, but the flip side of course is that new heroes will emerge as we continue to progress under Ange's leadership.

With news breaking that Celtic are set to sign 22 year old Japanese centre half Yuki Kobayashi from J-League side Vissel Kobe in January, it’s clear that the planning for the second half of the season and beyond is already well underway at Celtic Park.

“Jock Stein changed the world for Celtic!”

When asked to consider a Celtic without Jock Stein as manager Matt Corr gave the above answer, summing up just how crucial the great man’s return to the club would be in early 1965.

Matt is editor of “The Celtic Rising – 1965: The Year Jock Stein Changed Everything”, a new book written by renowned Celtic author David Potter.

Covering the calendar year of 1965 the story begins in January of that year with a Celtic side struggling to reclaim former glories under club legend and then manager Jimmy McGrory.

Captain Billy McNeill, goal machine Bobby Lennox and young winger Jimmy Johnstone have become disillusioned in a side who haven’t claimed a major trophy since a famous 7-1 League Cup win over bitter rivals Rangers in 1957 and are considering their future’s in Glasgow’s East End.

However, by the end of the month, news has begun to filter through that the main who retired as a Celtic player just before that league cup success in ’57 would be making his way back to Celtic Park – this time as manager.

A move that would changed the history of Celtic Football Club forever.

We spent some time with Matt this week ahead of the book's launch as he talked us through some of the key events of that year and of the massive impact they would go on to have on the club.

The book is a very welcome addition to the world of Celtic literature as David Potter once again captures the emotions of the time with his first hand account of following the club during that eventful era.

A tale that will not only appeal to the supporters of the day but for all who followed and for all who want to know what led to what we now recognise as the modern day Celtic.

Without Jock Stein, none of it is possible.

There are literally dozens of books telling of the events of Lisbon in 1967 – and rightfully so – but this book fills a gap with the incredible story of the two years leading up to that historical day, as Jock Stein proceeded to build a team of Lions who would go on to make it to the very top of European football.

Celtic claimed a dramatic but deserved three points in a seven goal thriller this afternoon at Tynecastle as VAR made a debatable debut in Scottish Football!

It was end to end stuff at times with Hearts playing their part in having a go but ultimately the Champions would prove too strong in the end.

Goals from James Forrest, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda set us up for a grandstand finish before fans favourite Greg Taylor found himself in the six yard box to slot home the winner with his first league goal for the Hoops.

The player was mobbed by his teammates as the visiting fans went wild and it could go on to be a crucial day in this season’s title race.

Tino & Mif were on the mics in this special extended show as VAR’s introduction into Scottish Football got off to a questionable start!

Celtic head to Tynecastle for a lunchtime kick off against Hearts on Saturday fresh from the 4-0 midweek cup win against Motherwell that will have the players full of confidence.

It's always a hard place to go but with ten goals scored in the last two games Celtic have found their shooting boots again and will be looking to add to that tally against the Edinburgh side.

Jota and David Turnbull remain unavailable alongside longer terms absentees Calum McGregor and Carl Starfelt but Ange Postecoglou still has plenty to call upon as the Hoops look to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Tino was joined by James and Mif for this one as they looked ahead to Matchday 11 in this season's Scottish Premiership.

Celtic booked their place in the semi-finals of the Premier Sports League Cup with an emphatic 4-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park.

Liel Abada made it 8 goals for the season with a double on the night before Reo Hatate and countryman Kyogo Furuhashi made sure of the result.

It’s now 10 goals in the last two games for Celtic and the confidence is well and truly back in the side as we now head to Tynecastle for a testing match with Hearts on Saturday lunchtime.

Celtic make the short trip to Fir Park for tonight's quarter final against Motherwell and will be looking to take a step closer to retaining the trophy that Ange Postecoglou and his men picked up at Hampden Park back in December of last year.

For new players such as Alexandro Bernabei, Moritz Jenz, Aaron Mooy and Sead Haksabanovic this will be their first chance of silverware with Celtic, and should Ange choose to rotate the squad for this one he should find himself with a group of players eager to impress.

Motherwell bet Inverness 4-0 in the previous round thanks to a Kevin Van Veen hat-trick but have found themselves in indifferent form in their six league fixtures since with only one win, alongside four defeats and a draw.

Cup football is a different animal though and Stevie Hammell's men will be just as keen as the Bhoys to book their place at Hampden for the semi-finals.

Mif’s been waiting on this day for a long, long time but finally we have an episode dedicated to his Celtic hero, James Forrest!

By ‘episode’ we mean 5-10 mins at the start as we sing the praises of the hat-trick hero as he joins an elite band of Celts to have scored 100 times for the club.

Well done Jamesie. A modern day Celtic legend!

In other news we look at Celtic’s European progress and on the bigger picture as our first Champions League campaign under Ange Postecoglou enters its final couple of games.

Whilst some individual results have been disappointing we’re a long way from the Sparta Prague and even the Bodo Glimt results of recent European campaigns and there's plenty reasons for optimism.

Domestically Celtic face a couple of tough away trips this week in the shape of a Premier Sports League Cup Quarter Final at Fir Park in midweek, followed by a Scottish Premiership fixture at Tynecastle on Saturday lunchtime. It's a busy calendar and Ange will likely rotate the squad further as he looks to navigate his way through a couple of tricky fixtures. Jamesie Forrest wrote himself into the Celtic history books against Hibs this afternoon as he became just the 30th player in our long and illustrious history to score 100 goals for the club.

He's not a player that we always agree on here at The Celtic Exchange but he deserves all the praise going for the contribution he's made for the club and for his impressive achievements over the years.

Giorgos Giakoumakis also added two goals to his tally with under fire Daizen maeda rounding things off as Celtic ran out eventual 6-1 winners against the Edinburgh side.

The result sees Ange Postecoglou's side stretch their lead at the top to five points, with a substantial goal difference also providing some comfort there.

In the first episode of our new Celtic Relived series we were joined by Billy Stark – an important and hugely popular member of Celtic’s Double winning Centenary Team.

Billy McNeill had returned to the club as manager ahead of the 1987/88 season and made Billy Stark his first signing as the club attempted to wrestle back the title from Rangers having finished without a trophy the season before.

Billy played a vital part in the club’s success in that special season, ultimately finishing 3rd top scorer behind Andy Walker and Frank McAvennie, and for those who recall was instrumental in our comeback win over Dundee United in that memorable Scottish Cup Final.

As a player that Alex Ferguson signed twice (for St Mirren & Aberdeen) Billy was in the twilight of his career at 30 years of age when he eventually put pen to paper for Celtic, and his signing perhaps flew under the radar at that time.

He would soon justify his presence in that talented side however, with a debut goal against Greenock Morton closely followed by an Old Firm winner in a 1-0 win helping him settle in the eyes of the fans.

During this episode we discuss the career path that took him to Celtic, that fairytale Centenary Season, and his special relationship with Celtic hero Tommy Burns - one that was formed even before they shared a dressing room at Celtic Park.

We were also joined on this episode by Paul Cuddihy, current editor of The Celtic View (since 2001) and lifelong fan of the club, who shared his own recollections of that special season, culminating in that day at Hampden in May 1998.

We love a quote here at TCE and this week's episode is named after some words made famous by the biggest winner on the planet, Michael Jordan!

Celtic ultimately took all 3 points in Saturday's 2-1 v Motherwell but there's been notable discussion about the way in which we won, and of the fact that we were far from our free flowing best on the day.

Winning is everything though and it's far better to be debating the team's performance having collected the 3 points than if we had dropped anything to The Steelmen.

We know this Ange Postecoglou side can play so much better - we've witnessed it this season already - and the hope is that the players can find top form ahead of some huge fixtures that will take place this month.

Next up its Matchday 3 of the Champions League and the first of a double header with RB Leipzig, and no better platform for the players to show what they're capable of.

Something a bit different from us today.

This is a short 10-minute episode from host Tino, providing some key updates on those who were off representing their countries over the last ten days or so.

Some mixed successes for the various players and some injury concerns for Ange Postecoglou as he prepares his team for the visit of Motherwell following that disappointing St Mirren defeat a couple of weeks ago.

Some would scrap international football altogether with one listener commenting that "it's like going to the dentist - a necessary evil!"

It's not all that bad we don't think, but it certainly doesn't compare with Celtic.

Bring on the weekend!

Celtic's 38 game unbeaten league run came to a surprising end at the weekend with a 2-0 defeat by St Mirren which absolutely no one seen coming!

It was our first loss in the league in almost a full calendar year, and although not a result anyone wanted it may just remind all concerned that there's still work to be done if we're to reach the levels Ange Postecoglou wants to take us.

Elsewhere a Champions League stalemate with Shakhtar Donetsk may well prove to be a valuable point with Celtic sitting in a good position in the group if we can take care of both Leipzig and Shakhtar at Celtic Park during October.

The players now break for international duty, and whilst for some that provides an opportunity to represent their country, others will benefit from the chance to rest and recuperate at Lennoxtown ahead of a relentless run of fixtures in October.

Celtic are back in Champions League action this week against Shakhtar Donetsk after a very credible performance against current champions Real Madrid on Matchday 1.

Despite the defeat on the night Ange Postecoglou's side proved that they could go toe to toe with the best that the Champions League has to offer - at least in spells - and will be looking to take that confidence into the remaining five group games in Group F.

In all likelihood Celtic will now be battling with Shakhtar Donetsk and Leipzig for that second place spot in the group behind Madrid, and the chance to progress to the last 16 of this season’s competition.

Ange has propelled the club to incredible new levels in the short time since he arrived from Japan and players and fans alike are excited by the prospect of just how far the charismatic Australian can take us.

The suggestion that he may be tempted by a Premier League club in the future (Brighton have been mentioned this week) is understandable given the changes he has implemented and the success he’s brought to the club so far. However it does feel like Ange is building something special at Celtic and all connected to the club will be hopeful that he remains at Celtic Park for the foreseeable future and can realise his coaching ambitions with us.

Celtic stormed into a five point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table on Saturday with a hugely impressive 4-0 win over Rangers in the first Glasgow Derby of the season.

Ange Postecoglou’s men were relentless from first whistle as they ruthlessly exposed the deficiencies of their Glasgow rivals in a one sided match at Celtic Park.

Liel Abada was the star of the show with two clinical strikes in the first half but was followed closely by a midfield trio of Callum McGregor, Matt O’Riley and Liel Abada who ensured Celtic took full control of this one from an early stage.

The win means Celtic maintain their 100% start to the league campaign with six wins from six in the league, and a total of 25 goals scored so far., with just one conceded.

It’s formidable form at this early stage in the season and sets the Bhoys up perfectly for a challenge of a different kind as European Champions Real Madrid come calling in our opening Champions League fixture on Tuesday night.

Tino & Brydo were on the mics to review all the key talking points from another sensational performance at Celtic Park.

Ange Postecoglou’s side exerted their total dominance on Saturday with a crushing 4-0 win over Rangers that left Giovanni Van Bronckhort’s side wondering what had hit them at a packed Celtic Park.

Van Bronckhorst of course played in the original “Demolition Derby” some twenty two years ago as Henrik Larsson and co. inflicted a 6-2 defeat on Rangers back in August 2000.

We now have a new Demolition Derby to add to the collection as this exciting Celtic side won by their own four goal margin in a game which highlighted the very best of what Ange Postecoglou's team have to offer.

Liel Abada picked up the Man of the Match award on the day, and rightly so for his two goal return and excellent all round performance, however it was his Portuguese team mate Jota who raised things to a different level with an outstanding second goal for Celtic – a goal which will be remembered by fans far and wide for many years to come.

The timing of the sparkling performance couldn’t have been better with Celtic heading into matchday 1 of this season’s Champions League this week full of confidence as they await the challenge that current holders Real Madrid will present.

It’s set to be an electric night at Celtic Park on Tuesday and players and fans alike can’t wait to see Ange’s side test themselves on a whole new level as we come up against Karim Benzema and co. in European football’s top competition.

Elsewhere we seen the close of a summer transfer window which has seen Celtic achieve just about everything they set out to do. Returning heroes Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers are now here on a permanent basis, some big earners have been removed from the wage bill, and we now have genuine cover in all key areas of the park.

A deadline day move for Danish internationalist Oliver Abildgaard completed our work in the market for now and we take a look at what our new number 28 may add to the midfield.

Celtic made history at the weekend as they recorded their biggest ever away win in the Scottish top flight with a 9-0 annihilation of Dundee United at Tannadice.

Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada both grabbed hat-tricks on the day with Jota, Josip Juranovic and Carl Starfelt also getting involved in the goal scoring action.

Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley continue to shine in the midfield and were both excellent on the day as the Hoops continued their 100% start to the league campaign.

Elsewhere excitement builds following a Champions League draw which has paired us alongside European giants real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine, and Leipzig from the Bundesliga.

It all kicks off next week at Celtic Park as Champions League holders Real Madrid come calling on Matchday 1 of this seasons tournament.

Players and fans alike are eagerly anticipating their arrival as Ange Postecoglou takes his first steps as a manager on to European football’s biggest stage.

Before all that Celtic have a league cup tie at Ross County to contend with, as well as the small matter of the first Glasgow Derby of the season, as the Bhoys head into a relentless run of fixtures between now and this year’s World Cup in November.

It’ll be a testing time for this side, but Ange and his players wouldn’t have it any other way!

CELTIC took advantage of results elsewhere to take an early lead in the title race this weekend as goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis were enough to see off Hearts at Celtic Park.

It perhaps wasn’t the free flowing we’ve come to expect from Ange Postecoglou’s side, but at the same time it was a deserved victory and a result that sees us maintain our 100% start to the league campaign.

Hearts’ manager Robbie Neilson bemoaned some refereeing decisions post-match and in truth if he put as much focus on his teams approach to the game as he did to his complaints then they may just have fared a bit better on the day.

This week will see Celtic take their place in the draw for this season’s Champions League group stages as we return to European football’s top table. We join the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSV Eindhoven on that stage and anticipation is building as to who face following Thursday’s draw.

Tino, Mif & James took to the mics this week as Celtic blew away Kilmarnock this weekend on an enjoyable afternoon in East Ayrshire. The Bhoys racked up 5 goals without reply against their Scottish Premiership opponents to restore their place at the top of the table and make it 3 wins from 3 in the league campaign so far.

It was a game that many thought would prove difficult but in truth once Kyogo opened the scoring in the 7th minute there was no looking back!

Greg Taylor continues to impress as a key component of this Ange Postecoglou side and picked up the Man of the Match award for his efforts against his former employers.

In other news, Carl Starfelt returned and chipped in with his first Celtic goal, whilst Moritz Jenz and Giorgos Giakoumakis had their very own overhead kick competition!

CELTIC made it two Scottish Premiership wins from two at the weekend with a hard fought 3-1 win over Ross County in the Highlands.

Moritz Jenz marked his competitive debut with a powerful headed goal, but it was Portuguese winger Jota who was once again the main man as he picked up another Man of the Match award following his hat-trick of assists.

The transfer window now has just over three weeks left to run and various rumours continue to do the rounds as to who may join Ange Postecloglou’s side ahead of the 1st September deadline.

Others such as Chris Jullien, James McCarthy and Albian Ajeti may be heading for the exit – either on loan or permanently – as Ange continues to fine tune his squad.

CELTIC were finally back in competitive action at the weekend with the long awaited return of the Scottish Premiership, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable Flag Day at Celtic Park with captain Callum McGregor raising the league flag ahead of kick off.

The backdrop of this was a stunning stadium wide tifo display - organised by the Green Brigade, and funded by the wider Celtic support - and it was a sight to behold as they players prepared to defend the league trophy they so deservedly claimed back in May.

Stephen Welsh gave the Hoops an early lead before Jota sealed the three points with a stunning strike to get the campaign off to the perfect start.

In other news, the club have confirmed that Chairman Ian Bankier will step down from his duties at the end of the year, with former CEO Peter Lawwell being suggested by many as the man who will replace him in the role.

CELTIC rounded off their pre-season campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday with Reo Hatate continuing his excellent pre-season form with another Man of the Match performance.

Many have tipped Jota and Kyogo to be the main men this season – and they may well be right – but the young Japanese midfielder is looking refreshed and energised ahead of the big kick off and may well be one of Ange’s biggest performers in 2022/23.

The game also saw debuts for Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jens, with the latter in particular putting himself in the frame for a start at the weekend.

Sunday will of course see Celtic raise the league flag once again ahead of our opening league fixture with Aberdeen and after 11 weeks without competitive football the fans will be out in force to welcome their heroes back to Celtic Park once again.

Ange Postecoglou has indicated that we’re not quite finished in the transfer market yet, and we may well see some further comings and goings over the next few weeks as he looks to shape a squad capable on both the domestic front and in Europe.

WITH Celtic now closing in on the start of the new Scottish Premiership season we sat down this week to provide our Pre-Season Predictions across a range of categories as our esteemed(!) panel discuss the players who’ll be making the headlines in 2022/23.

Who’ll be the star man this year, who’s the next exciting youth prospect to break through to the first team, and who will be the surprise package of the season? We discuss all of this and more with less than two weeks to go to the big kick off.

(Disclaimer: We reserve the right to get these predictions completely wrong and to revise them at will as the season unfolds!)

Speculation also continues as to who Ange will be adding to the squad, with Australian international Aaron Mooy looking likely to arrive this week. Others should follow according to recent comments from Ange himself and it remains to be seen if we’ll get the ball playing centre-half and defensive midfielder that many fans have been calling for.

The Bhoys followed a midweek win against Banik Ostrava in the Czech Republic with a battling 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Celtic Park on Saturday and we look back on those matches as well as a short preview on the remaining pre-season fixtures against Legia Warsaw (Wed 20th July) and Norwich (Sat 23rd July).

LIKE returning heroes Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, we too at The Celtic Exchange are back for a whole new season where we’ll bring you the very best of all things Celtic – on and off the park.

Ange Postecoglou continues to build on last season's double success and its an exciting time as the fans anticipate what Ange's Celtic v2.0 will look like.

As always at this time of year the main focus is on what other players will be signing up to be part of the Ange Revolution, as he fine tunes his squad to defend the league title and to take their place amongst Europe’s elite in the UEFA Champions League.

Alexandro Bernebei and Benjamin Siegrist have joined Jota and Carter-Vickers in committing to the club, with Ange stating that he wants a couple of more additions ahead of the new season. Speculation and rumours will rage on about who that will be and we’ll look to bring you any news once confirmed.

Meantime some other players have now moved on – either on a permanent basis or on loan deals – with the likes of Karamoke Dembele, Vasilis Barkas and Ismaila Soro deciding to ply their trade elsewhere, at least for the season ahead.

The pre-season friendlies are already underway with some fringe players getting their chances, but expect the big hitters to return over the next few games as the squad prepare for that all important league opener against Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Sunday 31st July.

The curtain has finally come down on Celtic's 2021/22 season and what a season it's been.

An unknown Ange Postecoglou was announced as the club's new manager in early June and since then the fans have been on a rollercoaster journey as we've followed our charismatic leader and his new team from an opening day defeat to Hearts, right through to last week's trophy lift at Celtic Park against Motherwell - with a whole host of twists and turns in between.

ANGE POSTECOGLOU finally got his hands on the Scottish Premiership trophy this weekend as he and captain Callum McGregor were presented with the silverware following a sparkling 6-0 final day win over Motherwell.

It’s a season that started with a lot of question marks, a lot of doubt, but ultimately one which finished with glory as Celtic returned to the top of Scottish Football after a short hiatus.

Ange and his players will now enjoy a well earned break but the planning will already have started for the challenges that next season will bring. Retaining the Scottish Premiership will be a priority, but the excitement of the UEFA Champions League awaits, and the chance to test ourselves against the very best that European Football has to offer.

We now know that long serving players Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton are moving on and the Quadruple Treble winners received a fitting farewell against Motherwell as the fans thanked them for their contributions to the club. Others will follow and new stars will be brought in as Ange and new Head of Scouting & Recruitment Mark Lawwell take plans forward for the 2022/23 season and beyond.

SATURDAY afternoon at Celtic Park will be an occasion to savour as we see Ange Postecoglou and his Celtic players rewarded with the Scottish Premiership Trophy after a long and successful campaign.

The presentation will take place after the final day clash with Motherwell and will be a special day for all associated with the club as we reclaim the title at the first time of asking.

Its a success that many wouldn't have predicted when Ange first took the reins back in June, and he and his players deserve great credit for the turnaround in fortunes as well as some of the brilliant football we've seen on display across the season.

The 4-1 win over Hearts at the weekend extended the Bhoys unbeaten league run to 30 games and with just a point needed from Wednesday's fixture against Dundee United at Tannadice and Saturday's match with Motherwell its now just a matter of time before captain Callum McGregor gets his hands on the trophy.

We also look at the appointment of new Head of Scouting & Recruitment Mark Lawwell from the City Football Group, the potential departure from the club of long serving midfielder Nir Bitton, and the retirement from football of one our most successful captains of all time, Scott Brown.

CELTIC took a step closing to reclaiming the Scottish Premiership Title, with a 1-1 draw in the Glasgow Derby maintaining the 6 point gap at the top with just 3 games to play.

Jota showed he was the man for the big occasion with the opening goal and went on to claim the Man of the match award with an impressive all round performance.

KYOGO FURUHASHI made his first start since December at the weekend, scoring the all-important opening goal against Ross County to send the Hoops on their way in Dingwall.

It was the Japanese striker’s 17th goal of the season and he showed glimpses of his brilliant best in what was a vital league result in the Highlands.

Not to be outdone, team-mate Jota also had his best game in recent times, providing the assist for Kyogo and then sealing the result with a late strike of his own to ensure Celtic left with all 3 points.

Many speculated of a slip up against a confident County side, but as always Ange Postecoglou and the players blocked out all external noise to continue an impressive run of league form that has now seen us win 24 and draw 4 of our last 28 games.

Ange’s men now hold a 6 point lead going into the final 4 league fixtures, meaning a win at Celtic Park in Sunday’s final Glasgow Derby of the season would effectively (though not mathematically) see the league title begin its journey back to the East end.

Will Kyogo finally start the game in the No.9 role? Will Giorgos Giakoumakis return to provide some physicality? Will #GT3 grab another goal? Whatever happens Celtic Park will be brimming with anticipation on what could turn out to be a very beautiful Sunday.

CELTIC fell to a disappointing extra time defeat in Sunday’s Scottish Cup Semi-Final at Hampden and captain Callum McGregor has quickly moved to re-focus his teammates ahead of the Scottish Premiership run in.

It was a frustrating day at the national stadium with Celtic unable to extend their 33 game unbeaten run and failing to meet the high standards they’ve set throughout the season.

Referee Bobby Madden had an ‘interesting’ game to say the least and whilst his decisions perhaps didn’t directly impact the scoreline they played a notable part throughout the 120 minutes.

Ange Postecoglou and Callum McGregor have both now emphasised the need to put the result behind us, and quickly, as we now aim top reclaim the Scottish Premiership title at the first time of asking.

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has talked of finding top form at the right time of the season and nothing epitomised this more than the 7-0 demolition of St Johnstone we witnessed at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Celtic recorded their biggest win of the season against the Perth side, playing exceptionally well throughout the 90 minutes and exhibiting the free flowing football which has now become synonymous with this side.

It comes at a perfect time ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup Semi-Final against Rangers and with a full 8 days to prepare for that one confidence will be high in the Celtic dressing room.

GREIG ROBERTSON spent a fascinating 18 years at the Celtic Academy between 2003 - 2021, working in close quarters with a number of highly regarded club coaches such as Tommy Burns, Brendan Rodgers and John Kennedy.

In nearly two decades within the Academy he played a part in the development of some of Celtic's best known graduates such as Kieran Tierney, James Forrest and current club captain Callum McGregor, and more recently has guided the progress of the latest batch of exciting talent to emerge from Lennoxtown, including Ben Doak, Dane Murray and of course Karamoko Dembele.

You don't spend that amount of time with elite level players if you yourself aren't an elite level coach and during his time at Celtic Grieg gained his UEFA Pro Licence as well as a Masters in Performance Coaching.

His talents have now taken him to the role of Director of Coaching at Boston Bolts in the US, where he kindly gave up over an hour of his time to discuss his Celtic journey with Tino this week.

It's an entertaining, enjoyable and insightful discussion on what goes on behind the scenes at Lennoxtown and on what it really takes to make it as a young footballer at Celtic.

This is a must listen for fans of Celtic, and for sports fans in general. Enjoy!

GIORGOS GIAKOUMAKIS grabbed his second hat-trick of the season on Saturday as he inspired Celtic to a 4-0 win over Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.

It’s the Greek striker’s 8th goal in his last 3 domestic starts and now takes his tally to 12 in the Hoops – 11 of them coming in 2022.

The result ensured that Celtic remained at the top of the Scottish Premiership ahead of their visit to Ibrox on 3rd of April and regardless the result there Celtic will stay top due to their superior goal difference (+14 over Rangers) as well as their 3 point advantage.

The title race is heating up but with just 7 games remaining Celtic find themselves in a solid position to reclaim the title in Ange Postecoglou’s first season at the helm.

A dominating 3-0 win over Dundee Utd at Tannadice on Monday night has paired Celtic with Rangers in the semi-finals at Hampden and with a 3 point lead in the Scottish Premiership talk of a Treble has now heightened amongst the fans.

Ange Postecoglou and the players won't be talking about it - at least not in the media - but it now has to be seen as a very real possibility for a Celtic side now unbeaten in their last 30 games domestically.

Next on the agenda are high flying Ross County who have somehow found their way in to the top 6 and should prove a stern test on Saturday at Celtic Park.

ANGE POSTECOGLOU sprung some surprises ahead of kick off at the Tony Macaroni and the Australian was proven correct as Celtic finally win v Livingston for the first time since 2007!

Celtic had been without a win in their last 5 fixtures against Livingston (a record which included 3 draws and 2 defeats) but goals from Daizen Maeda and James Forrest either side of a Nicky Devlin own goal were enough to seal all 3 points.

There are now just 8 games remaining of the Scottish Premiership season and Celtic currently have a 3 point (and 11 goal) advantage as we now head into the Scottish Cup weekend where we face Dundee United on Monday 14th of March.

Celtic got back to winning ways against St Mirren after a disappointing week last week with goals coming from Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum McGregor in a 2-0 win.

The result keeps the Hoops 3 points and 10 goals clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with just 9 games remaining.

A disappointing afternoon at Easter Road as Celtic drop league points for the first time since December with a 0-0 draw against Hibs. Celtic run out 4-0 winners in today's Scottish Cup tie to put themselves comfortably in to the hat for the next round. Goals from Scales, Giakoumakis, Maeda and Bitton all made for a relatively comfortable afternoon for the Hoops, though Ange wasn’t best pleased with the first half showing. The Quarter Final draw will take place on Monday night as we await our opponents in the last 8. Tino, James & Sinky were on the mics for this one.

Celtic run out 3-2 winners in a 5 goal thriller against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in a true game of two halves. Jota showing his path back to fitness with two clever goals and Matt O'Riley getting a well deserved first strike for Celtic after a fantastic start to his career with the hoops. After a lacklustre first half Aberdeen came out for the second 45 with all guns blazing and got their rewards with two early set piece goals. Celtic replied quickly to re-establish their lead and closed the match out for a hugely impotant win. James, from the comfort of his sofa and Tino, from the discomfort of chilly Aberdeen were on the mics to bring you all the key talking points from Pittodrie.

FOLLOWING in the footsteps of a certain Lubo Moravcik by scoring a double on his Glasgow Derby debut, Reo Hatate continued his flying start in a Celtic shirt by effectively ending Wednesday’s match with Rangers as a contest before the half-time whistle had even sounded.

If his two goal contribution wasn’t enough, he also then provided the assist for Liel Abada’s goal to make it 3-0 by the interval, ultimately leading Celtic back to the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Tino, Mif & Paddy are on the mics this week to dissect the derby as Celtic blew away their Glasgow rivals with an incredible first half performance.

Also on the agenda is the equally impressive showing against Motherwell at Fir Park on the weekend, with the Hoops going one better by scoring 4 on the day without reply.

Celtic clock up 4 goals at Fir Park with another impressive attacking performance by Ange Postecoglou’s men. Liel Abada maintained his impressive recent scoring form with his 3rd in 3 games before a classy Tom Rogic double sealed the points before the break. Daizen Maeda made it 4 with a deflected effort in the second effort and it seems just a matter of time before this high flying Celtic side rack up a cricket score against someone. It turned out to be a perfect Saturday for Celtic as Liel Abada blows the roof off Paradise with a last minute winner which puts us within two points of the top of the table. It was a nervier afternoon than we were hoping for but none of that matters now with the three points the be all and end all ahead of Wednesday night’s Glasgow derby. Tino & Scraped themselves off the ceiling at Celtic Park to bring you all the big talking points from a massive afternoon in the title race.

A huge 3 points for Celtic at Tynecastle as the Hoops run out 2-1 winners against Hearts in a frantic game under the floodlights! An incredible strike by Reo Hatate opened the scoring before a clever second by Gorgios Giakoumakis shortly after saw us take a deserved 2-0 lead into the break. The second half was less comfortable and a Liam Boyce strike just after the hour mark saw us face a spell of pressure for the first time in the game. Boyce then had a chace to steal a point for Hearts with a 73rd minute penalty but the woodwork came to our rescue before we eventually seen out the result. Debutant Matt O’Riley showed his class at times, particularly in the first half, and was awarded Man Of The Match for his troubles. Team mates Reo Hatate and Jota can't have been far away for some of the creativity and flair they also brought to the game but credit too must go to the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Nir Bitton and Giorgios Giakoumakis who all played their part in getting us over the line. The victory could turn out to be a crucial one in the title race and all eyes now turn to Dundee Utd at Celtic Park on Saturday where the next challenge awaits.

CELTIC announced the signing of Matt O’Riley to bolster the ranks in our creative positions last week and it’s not a moment too soon as we contend ourselves with the absence of Tom Rogic and Daizen Maeda on international duty as well as ongoing injury concerns over Kyogo Furuhashi, David Turnbull and now captain Callum McGregor.

A physical encounter with Alloa in the Scottish Cup on Saturday night hasn’t helped our injury woes with Liel and Abada and Yosuke Ideguchi also picking up knocks on the night, but Celtic will have to dust themselves off very quickly as the challenges of Hearts at Tynecastle (Wednesday) and Dundee Utd at Celtic Park (Saturday) await before we then head into the second derby of the season next midweek.

It's a crucial period in the title race and Ange Postecoglou has some big calls to make as he aims to navigate us through these fixtures with maximum points.

Fringe players such as Giorgios Giakounakis, Liam Scales and Tony Ralston will be looking to play their part and we can also look forward to seeing new Bhoys Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate take centre stage as the title race heats up.

Celtic eventually run out 2-1 winners against Alloa in a hard fought Saturday night in the Scottish Cup. Goals from Giorgios Giakoumakis and Liel Abada were enough to see us through and we’ll now face Raith Rovers in the 5th round next month. Ange Postecoglou will be concerned over injuries picked up by captain Callum McGregor, Yosuke Ideguchi and Abada but will be hopeful that all pull through as eyes now turn to Wednesday’s crunch league fixture against Hearts at Tynecastle. Tino & James covered all of the above as well as the other key talking points from this one.

DAIZEN Maeda stole the headlines with a quickfire debut goal against Hibs but it was his countryman Reo Hatate who was the undoubted star of the show with a Man of the Match performance in the heart of Celtic’s midfield.

The Japanese star showed us exactly why Ange Postecoglou was so keen to secure his signature and already looks like he’ll slot seamlessly into the starting XI.

A full Celtic Park welcomed the team back after the winter break and the Bhoys didn’t disappoint with an impressive performance against Shaun Maloney’s side.

Yosuke Ideguchi joined Maeda and Hatate in making his debut, but Carl Starfelt, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor also showed their quality on the night.

With our Glasgow rivals dropping points at Pittodrie we’re now within 4 points of the top of the table with some huge matches in store ahead of the derby on 2ndof February.

The January transfer window remains oipen for another couple of weeks but with no activity in or out in over a week Ange has indicated our signings may be done. We’ll monitor that space closely for any changes.

CELTIC'S January transfer window continues to gather pace with the signings of Irishman Johnny Kenny and Australian Riley McGree coming hot on the heels of our Japanese trio of Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate.

There's no doubt we needed to bring in quality additions in key areas across the squad, and we look to have done so fairly well so far with left back and goalkeeper perhaps the other priority areas that Ange Postecoglou will still look to strengthen.

Going the opposite way in the revolving door are young midfielders Liam Henderson to Hibs (Loan deal with a view to a permanent move) and Liam Shaw to Motherwell (Loan deal) and we expect others to follow across the remainder of the window.

The obvious candidates are players such as Vasilis Barkas, Boli Bolingoli, Ismaila Soro and Albian Ajeti who have all found themselves surplus to requirements in Ange's new look Celtic.

Back to matters on the park and the anticipation is building ahead of our return to action against Hibs on Monday coming after 3 weeks without football. How we'll line up is anyone's guess but with indications that full houses will be re-introduced in time for the fixture it should be an occasion to savour for the fans and players alike.

ANGE Postecoglou has become so influential in Scottish Football that his January transfer window begins in December!

Celtic fans were given the perfect New Year's gift with confirmation arriving on the morning of 31st December that we had secured the triple signing of of J-League stars Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.

In this first episode of 2022 we profile the trio as they touch down in Glasgow to play their part in the second half of the season. It's an exciting move by the club and the hope will be that the new Bhoys can make a similar impact to their countryman Kyogo Furuhashi who has very quickly become the talisman of this Celtic side.

We expect to see quite a bit more activity across the remainder of the window in terms of incomings and exits, in addition to the potential permanent signings of Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers which must now be a priority.

THE Boxing Day fixture against St Johnstone was Celtic's 36th competitive fixture of the season and it's fair to say it's been a rollercoaster so far for Ange Postecoglou, the players, and the fans.

In this special episode of The Celtic Exchange we review the season to date, covering everything from our first competitive fixture against FC Midtjylland way back in mid-July, right up until our Boxing Day victory over St Johnstone.

CELTIC head into the winter break having secured a crucial 3 points with a 3-1 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. Liel Abada took his tally for the season to 10 with a first half brace before Captain for the day, Nir Bitton secured the win with a late strike to see off the Saints. Celtic's squad was decimated pre match, with Vasilis Barkas making his first start in 5 months and youngsters Joey Dawson, Owen Moffa & Ben Doak all taking a place on the bench - the former stepping in to replace Kyogo early in the first half. The Hoops can now enjoy 3 weeks of rest and recuperation before taking to the field again on Monday 17th of January against Shaun Maloney's Hibs. There may also be a few new faces in the squad by then, but in the meantime Ange Postecoglou will just be delighted to have gotten through the latest challenge. We'll be back with our Half Season Review this week, but in the meantime, enjoy this one!

Kyogo Furuhashi was the undoubted star of the show as he returned from injury to fire Celtic to League Cup success with a phenomenal double in Sunday's victory over Hibs.

His involvement in the game had been touch and go following the recent injury he picked up against Real Betis, but the Japanese striker shook that off to steal the show in an thrilling afternoon at Hampden.

For Ange Postecoglou that means the first trophy is now in the bag, providing validation for the methods that he's applied to Celtic since arriving in the summer. He was questioned by many on his arrival in Scotland, but the popular Aussie has a firm belief in what he does and thrives on proving people wrong, which is exactly what he;s doing.

Many of us here in Scotland - ourselves included - had no idea who Ange was when he was first announced back in June. We know now!

Celtic are now on a 7 game winning run and will be looking to keep that up in the remaining three fixtures of the year against St Mirren, St Johnstone and Hibs. If we can manage to do so then the Glasgow Derby on 2nd January will present a huge opportunity for this new Celtic side to state their intentions for the remainder of the league campaign!

Celtic and Kyogo fired their way to Ange’s first trophy in a magical day at Hampden. James and Tino were there (eventually) to talk you through it!

Cometh the hour, cometh the Tony Ralston! Celtic clinch a dramatic late winner on a wet Wednesday night in Dingwall as the hoops show pure grit and determination to get the job done. Tony was the hero on the night as 10 man Celtic took all three points courtesy of his powerful 97th minute header. The squad is light, but the wins keep coming, and Ange and the Bhoys can now look forward to Sunday’s League Cup Final on the back of a massive boost from tonight’s result.

It's another huge week for Ange Postecoglou and his players as they take on a vital league fixture at Ross County before heading to Hampden for Sunday's League Cup Final against Hibs. Celtic have their injury worries but have still managed to rack up the wins with Sunday's victory over Motherwell our 5th straight league win in a row. Kyogo, James Forrest and Mikey Johnston are our latest players to have picked up injuries and Ange will be hoping they're available for selection for Sunday, if not sooner! Following our Europa League exploits we also found out that Bodo Glimt of Norway are to be our Europa Conference League opponents come February, and more about that closer to the time. Tino and Paddy joined Hamish from 67 Hail Hail to cover all the key talking points from the 1-0 win over Motherwell. With the injuries mounting up it was a makeshift side without a recognised No.9 that took to the field, but a well worked set piece finished off by Tom Rogic was enough to secure all three points. That's now 5 league victories on the bounce, with a clean sheet in the last 3, as Celtic continue to find ways to win under Ange. Next up it's a trip to face Ross County in Dingwall on Wednesday as the relentless December fixtures continue.

A 5 goal thriller sees Celtic come out on top with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Betis at Celtic Park! With so many fixtures on the horizon Ange made an incredible 11 changes to the side that beat Dundee Utd at the weekend, and many of the youngsters done their chances no harm at all over an entertaining 90 minutes. Our goal-scorers on the night are 21, 21 & 22 years of age respectively, which is very promising for the future of this Celtic side. The only downside on the night was the incurring of further injuries that we really don't need just now. Most concern of course centres around Kyogo Furuhashi who looks to have injured his hamstring, with Ajeti also going off with a similar injury.

All eyes now turn to Motherwell at Celtic Park on Sunday and the return of Scottish Premiership action. The Bhoys will be going all out to maintain their solid recent form - even if they have to do so without a centre forward!

Celtic took all three points against Hearts in a hard fought battle at Celtic Park tonight to remain four points off the top in the Scottish Premiership title race. Celtic had the better of the chances overall but a one goal lead is always precarious and it could’ve ended level had it not been for some brave defending, particularly from man of the match, Carl Starfelt. credit to the side overall for showing their resilience after losing Tony Ralston, Jota and Stephen Welsh on the night. we kick on now to Dundee utd on Sunday and the 2nd of our 9 fixtures in December.

Lionel Messi picked up a record 7th Ballon d'Or at a glitzy ceremony in Paris this week - once again pipping a famous Portuguese to the title - but the "World's Best Player" can count himself lucky that Jota only made the move to Celtic late in this summer's transfer window, else things might have been very different!

We're at it here of course (mostly!) but there's no doubting the talent the young Portuguese winger has and on the future he may go on to have in the game.

Whether that's at Celtic or elsewhere remains to be seen but his importance to the team at this moment in time is unquestionable and he's at the very heart of all good things we do.

With 5 goals in his last 5 games he's thriving under Ange Postecoglou and all we can do is enjoy him while he's here and hope that he and his new team mates can lead us back to the title this season. After that, it's over to the money men.

It's been a week of mixed results for the club with a narrow (but creditworthy) defeat by Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League before we took all three points against Aberdeen on league duty. Needless to say, Jota scored in both games and played a pivotal role across both fixtures.

We now face a demanding December with no less than 9 fixtures before the turn of the year which will go a long way to determining how successful we are this season.

The first of those fixtures is on Thursday of this week against Hearts at Celtic Park, before a trip to Tannadice to face Dundee United on Sunday.

It's a relentless fixture list with little room for error. The Ange Train rolls on!

A deserved, hard fought 3 points for the Hoops as Celtic run out 2-1 winners at Celtic Park. Jota opened the scoring with Callum McGregor making sure of the points with a fortunate effort in the second half. We’ve seen the Bhoys play better than they done today but were worthy of the points on the day given what they brought to the game. Next up are Hearts on Thursday night as a busy run of December fixtures get underway.

Comeback man Jamesie Forrest was the star of the show on Saturday night, slamming home the winner at Hampden to take us into next month's League Cup Final.

He has a knack of coming up with big goals in big moments and as a player with just short of 500 appearances for the club his stats are truly remarkable. He's a player who could prove vital to Ange across the remainder of the season!

We also pay tribute to Bertie Auld this week as we remember one of Celtic's greatest sons. A true Celtic hero who lit up the park in the same way as he lit up any room he entered. He'll be sadly missed around Celtic Park and the fans expressed their love of him as only they know how with an incredible tribute at Hampden on the 67th minute, as well as with their pre-match display.

For a man who lifted the biggest prize in European football he was also just one of our own. Someone who was as comfortable competing against top European opposition as he was sharing a joke and a story with fans in the street. His legend will live on.

In footballing matters its another important week as we face Bayer Leverkusen in Germany before returning to play Scott Brown's Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

The German's were the last side to inflict defeat on Ange's side 10 games ago, can the Bhoys go one better this time around in matchday 5 of the Europa League?

Celtic booked their place in next month's League Cup Final as a James Forrest strike was enough to see us over the line in a stuffy semi final against St Johnstone. Celtic were the dominant force overall but semi finals are rarely pretty affairs and it wasn't until that late goal that we could begin thinking about a return to Hampden. St Johnstone - as expected - set up in a very defensive shape, with the onus on us to break that down. Frustratingly any clear chances were few and far between until James Forrest, as he often does, stepped up on the big occasion. Defensively we were rarely troubled throughout the 90 minutes with Carter-Vickers and Welsh holding firm. James McCarthy also played his part in the latter stages to see us over the line as the clock ticked down on the 97 minutes (97!). Ange who's been with us for less than 6 months can now look forward to his first cup final with Celtic and what could be a hugely important occasion as he looks to get the club back to winning ways!

Felipe Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi have a phenomenal 28 “goal contributions” in all competitions for Celtic so far this season. Twenty-eight!

We've only just put the clocks back!

With 6 goals between them this week alone, the dynamic frontmen continue to steal the headlines, and rightly so. The two have become increasingly influential since their arrival at the club and alongside captain Callum McGregor have very quickly made themselves indispensable in this Celtic side.

However there’s another story playing out at Celtic Park just now that the fans are enjoying in equal measure – step up Anthony Ralston version 2.0! The Celtic Academy graduate signed an extended deal this week that will keep him at the club until 2025 in a move that not even the most optimistic supporters would have predicted just a few short months ago.

Full credit must go to Ralston himself for the mental fortitude he’s shown this season so far, though Ange Postecoglou must also be credited for getting more out of the young fullback than perhaps even he thought possible.

Tino, Mif & Sinky took to the mics this week to discuss all of the above, as well as an 8 game unbeaten run which has now seen Celtic return 7 wins and 1 draw in all competitions.

Keeganball meets Angeball in a thrilling six goal encounter at Dens Park as Celtic run out 4-2 winners! Doubles from Jota and Kyogo were enough to secure the points and to record our 4th straight away win in the league. The goalscorers stole the show but Tony Ralston also continued his recent strong form and was involved in 3 of the 4 goals in an excellent display overall. We now head into the latest international break but Ange and the players will be feeling good about themselves after recent performances. The goals and the wins keep coming and we'll be looking to pick that back up when we face St Johnstone at Hampden in the League Cup semi-final on 20th November.

Over a 7 year spell with the club between 1969 - 1976, Harry Hood has a phenomenal record with Celtic, appearing over 300 times and scoring 125 goals - one of only 29 players to ever score more than 100 goals for the club.

During this time he also picked up no less than 6 Scottish League Championships, 3 Scottish Cups and 2 League Cups during one of the most successful periods in the club's history.

Now Matt Corr - who previously authored "Invincible" and "The Bould Bhoys" - has taken up the story and is delighted this week to have released "Harry Hood - Twice As Good" - the official biography.

We spent some time with Matt this week uncovering the story of how the book first came to be, hearing some of the many stories that are included, and discussing his hopes for this latest publication.

Appearing in that post Lisbon Lions/pre Quality Street Gang period, Harry found himself surrounded by Celtic legends such as Jimmy Johnstone, Bobby Lennox, Kenny Dalglish and Danny McGrain and he was more than comfortable in this company as the records show.

Describe as a "masterstroke" when Jock Stein signed him from Clyde for £40,000 in March 1969, Matt covers the tale of a figure who should rightfully take his place amongst the pantheon of Celtic greats of that era.

A big away win in Europe for Celtic as the hoops pick up a crucial 3 points in Hungary! The front 3 of Kyogo, Jota and Abada were on exceptional form and now have an impressive 22 goals between them already this season! All three goals were well worked but the third was a thing of beauty, clinically slotted him by Abada after more great work by Kyogo and his beautiful wee feet!

More dropped points against the hammer throwers that are Livingston in a frustrating afternoon at Celtic Park cost us the chance to go top of the table this weekend.

Despite our opponents industrial approach however it’s up to us to break them down and Celtic couldn’t find a way through on Saturday – despite being handed a golden opportunity with a penalty in the dying stages.

As with any dropped points at Celtic Park the debate rages on and this week it’s all about whether Kyogo should have been “rested”, should Bitton have played, and why didn’t Josip Juranovic take THAT penalty?

It’s all covered and more in this week’s episode as Tino, Mif and Paddy debate the weekend’s action as well as the more uplifting midweek trip along the M8 to face Hibs, where a 3-1 win returned us all three points.

A frustrating draw at Celtic Park today saw us miss the opportunity to hit the top of the table. Did Ange get it wrong by dropping Kyogo? By opting for Abada over Johnston? By restoring Bitton to the midfield. Hindsight’s 20/20 but some big calls and we’ve fallen short once again against an organised, but limited, Livingston.

Celtic are now just 2 points off the top of the table after a thrilling win over Hibs at Easter Road. Celtic blew their opponents well in a scintillating first half performance with goals by Ralston, Carter-Vickers and Kyogo - and in truth it could have been more than 3! An important 3 points and potentially a very important night in the title race as we now look towards Livingston on Saturday and a chance to top the table for the first time in a long time!

Gorgios Giakoumakis stole the headlines this weekend, riffling home an impressive volley on his first start for the club to open the scoring against St Johnstone. We’ve waited a while for our new No.7 to make his mark but hopefully this is the first of many goals the Greek striker bags for the club.

Fellow summer signing Josip Juranovic was also on target from the spot to seal a 2-0 win (a scoreline that we’ve now produced across three consecutive fixtures) and the Bhoys should now be full of confidence as they head down the M8 to face Hibs on Wednesday night.

With four wins on the spin Ange’s system seems to have us heading in the right direction, and though we know that improvement is still required in certain areas he has us full of confidence, scoring goals, and winning games. That can only be a good thing.

This week we also pay tribute to Wim Jansen - “The Man Who Stopped The 10” - following the sad news that he’s living with dementia. Although he was only with Celtic for that one season in 1997/98, what a memorable season it was as we finally reclaimed the Scottish league title on a dramatic final day.

Mif, Paddy and Tino all share their stories of that great afternoon against St Johnstone back in May ’98, and offer up their memories of Wim’s greatest day with Celtic.

Celtic continue their winning form with a professional 2-0 win over the Saints - goals coming from new Bhoys Giorgos Giakoumakis and Joisp Juranovic. Meanwhile Jota (who else?) helped himself to another Man of the Match bottle of champagne! A third 2-0 win on the bounce and confidence continues to increase throughout the squad. Next up, another tough away fixture against Hibs at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

Celtic picked up their first 3 points of this season's Europa League group stages as they took care of fellow Group G opponents Ferencvaros in an enjoyable afternoon at Celtic Park. Jota was star of the show (again) with a brilliant assist and an all round solid performance but notable mention to McGregor, Starfelt and the ever influential Joe Hart who led by example from the back. Momentum is the word of the day and we can now look forward to the return fixture in Hungary in two weeks which gives us a real opportunity to make progress in the group.

Celtic recorded back to back away league wins for the first time since who knows when with a comfortable 2-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park.

Jota was the main man once again and opened the scoring, but ex-Motherwell man David Turnbull stole the headlines with a stunning long range strike to seal the three points.

Ange now feels the team is in a more settled place than at any other time in his reign so far and that's been reflected by a couple of important results in recent weeks. After an indifferent start we've now reached the dizzy heights of 4th place in the Premiership table but it's clear to see that this side still have so much more to offer and hopefully we'll see that play out in the coming weeks.

It's another week to look forward to at Celtic Park with the visits of Ferencvaros in the Europa League first up, followed by St Johnstone on league duty on Saturday.

We're also seeing some of our injured players such as Mikey Johnston return, with suggestions that Juranovic, Julien and Forrest aren't far behind.

All in all things seem to be on the up - long may that continue!

Celtic win on the road once more, running out 2-0 winners over The Steelmen. That’s back to back away wins for us for the first time since (*checks notes….) nae idea! A tough place to go and an important 3 points for Ange and the Bhoys.

Ange Postecoglou officially marked 4 months as Celtic Manager this week and we took the time during the international break to speak with acclaimed sports journalist Vince Rugari of the Sydney Morning Herald on Ange’s journey so far.

Vince provides detailed insight into Ange’s various successes at club level in Australia, particularly at Brisbane Roar, as well as the impact he had on the Australian national team before then heading on to Yokohama F Marinos in Japan where he picked up another league title.

He was officially appointed Celtic Manager on June 10th and we discuss the various stages of the Ange success cycle at his other clubs and on where he currently is on that cycle here at Celtic after 16 competitive games in charge.

Like most of us, Vince and his compatriots are fascinated by the Ange story and have shown a real passion in following his journey here so far. He’s suggested that with a little bit of patience and a little bit of faith in Ange and his methods, that we’ll see serious success in the months and years ahead – if he’s given that time to do so!

Our on-loan Portuguese winger stole the headlines at Pittodrie on Sunday with a late winner which relieves the recent pressure on both his team-mates and on manager Ange Postecoglou.

Since signing on a season long loan deal on deadline day Jota has been one of our most consistent performers during what's been a fairly turbulent time and he could have picked no better time than the dying stages of a nervy game with Aberdeen to grab his first league goal for the club.

It's reported that the club have an option to buy from Benfica for a fee in the region of £6M and from what we've seen so far this would be money well spent. Great technique, a trick or two, and fantastic hair - what more do you want from your winger?!

The 2-1 win over the Dons was absolutely crucial (our first away league victory since a 2-1 win over St Johnstone back on 14th February) given the stuttering league form we've seen in recent weeks and all the more important that it now allows us to reset and refocus with a bit more confidence during this latest international break.

Ange will be desperate to see his internationalists return safe and will following the horrendous run of injuries we've seen recently and will be waiting anxiously on the return of Kyogo and co. towards the end of next week.

Ange himself has shown considerable resilience by persevering with a system that he evidently has complete faith in, and though it may have been easier to take a more pragmatic approach against the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Aberdeen given the pressure he's been under it's clear that he's determined to do things his way.

If the Celtic board show the patience that he needs and that he deserves then we'll see notable success under the charismatic Australian.

Let's not forget the mess he inherited, and on that basis there's no quick fix here. Give him the time, give him the tools and we'll see the rewards.

Celtic pick up their first away win of the season with a crucial 3 points at Pittodrie!

Celtic fall shirt to a very decent Bayer Leverkusen side on match day 2 of the Europa League. The game saw the return of captain Callum McGregor and Kyogo Furuhashi to give Ange and the team a much needed boost but ot wasn’t enough to see us pick up anything from tonight’s game. Next up, and far more important, is a trip to Pittodrie to play Aberdeen in Sunday’s lunchtime kick off.

Celtic's form for September makes for grim reading and with Bayer Leverkusen visiting this week in the Europa League there's a likelihood that things may get worse before they start to get better.

This poor form coincides with a horrendous injury list, with James McCarthy and Josip Juranovic the latest to join Callum McGregor, Kyogo Furuhashi, James Forrest, Giorgios Giakoumakis and Chris Julien amongst others on the treatment table, and it's little wonder that Ange and his players have struggled during this time.

There's a bigger picture currently at play at Celtic just now with ongoing confusion regarding our CEO position as well as other backroom fundamentals such as sports science, a head of football, and player recruitment. The latter is the biggest concern and despite a number of new arrivals in the summer window it's now evident that we've fallen way short in terms of depth, and possibly in terms of quality too with some of our new recruits.

In better news captain Callum McGregor has signed an extended 5 year deal that will keep him at the club until summer 2026. He's been a big loss to Ange recently and here's hoping he's back leading the way before too long.

Celtic couldn’t find a way past Dundee Utd and drop points in the league yet again - the 4th time in 7 league games that we’ve now done so. Ange doesn’t have his troubles to seek in terms of injuries with both James McCarthy and Josip Juranovic failing to see out the 90mins but the pressure is mounting and it won’t get any easier with the visit of Bauer Leverkusen next up on Thursday!

Celtic comfortably see off Raith Rovers in the Premier Sports League Cup to set up a semi final at Hampden v cup holders St Johnstone. Goals from Jota, Abada and Turnbull were enough to see us through and Ange can now look forward to his first visit to the national stadium. Special mention to Liam Scales who made his first appearance for the Hoops in an assured performance.

Despite still being in the very early stages of Ange Postecoglou's time at Celtic it seems clear that our away form has already become something of a cause for concern under the new man.

Whilst fully accepting that we were missing key players such as Callum McGregor, Kyogo Furuhashi and James Forrest against Livingston, our 1-0 defeat at the Toni Macaroni Arena was the 6th time across all competitions that we've lost on the road this season.

Possession stats were strongly in our favour once again (at 79% v 21%) but the only stat that really matters in football is the scoreline and we've fallen short there once again.

Despite scoring 3 goals in Spain Celtic came out the wrong side of a 7 goal contest v Real Betis tonight at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. An Albian Ajeti strike followed by a Josip Juranovic penalty put us in control early in the game but defensive errors and perhaps a lack of belief led to the hosts scoring 4 goals without reply early into the second half to take charge. Despite this Celtic still found some openings and Ralston gave us late hope with a determined header in the final few minutes but it wasn't to be. To score 3 goals away from home in Europe and come away with nothing is disappointing but looking at the bigger picture this Ange Postecoglou side is very much a work in progress and with key players such as captain Callum McGregor, Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada missing tonight then it was always going to be a tall order. Once these players return and other new signings such as McCarthy, Scales and Giakoumakis find their feet then Celtic will be a very different proposition. The home tie v Betis on 9th December will be one to look forward to and perhaps a more accurate gauge of how far the side has developed by then.

In a move that no one seen coming Celtic announced on Friday that CEO Dominic McKay would be stepping down from his position due to "personal reasons" after just 72 days in the role.

In light of the announcement the club's current Director of Legal & Football Affairs, Michael Nicholson has been appointed to the Board of Celtic plc as acting CEO.

The real reasons for the sudden departure remain a mystery with many suggesting that McKay wasn't given the autonomy to carry out his role effectively, whilst others suggest he didn't have the required skillset in the first place.

What seems clear is that there's much more to run on this story and like everyone with a Celtic persuasion we'll be keeping a close eye on developments.

On the park Ange Postecoglou's men got back to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Ross County thanks to a goal and a Man of the Match contribution from Cameron Carter-Vickers and a double from forgotten striker Albian Ajeti.

The focus now turns to Europa League action with our Group G opener against Real Betis in Seville on Thursday.

Celtic get back to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Ross County at Celtic Park. The match saw Celtic debuts for Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota with the former opening the scoring (kinda) with a deflected effort. Forgotten frontman Albia Ajeti picked up a double to seal the game which will do his confidence the world of good as we know look to Thursday’s Europa League game with Real Betis.

Now that the summer transfer is finally over following a frantic few months for Celtic, we go Behind The Transfer Window with Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports News.

Anthony gives us his take on all the major transfer dealings at Celtic Park this summer and on the impact he thinks this will have on Ange Postecoglou's new team this season. We look at the 10 first team signings that have been made as well as some of the high profile exits of the last few weeks.

For the most part it seems that these key figures have now been replaced, with a new group of players who'll be eager to hit the ground running in the weeks ahead.

Some, such as Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada have already done so and the fans will be eager to get their first glimpse of the likes of Felipe Jota, Giorgos Giakomakis & Cameron Carton-Vickers as we get back on the park following the international break.

It’s just 6 weeks since Ange Postecoglou took his first competitive game in charge of Celtic in our 1-1 home draw with FC Midtjylland.

In the weeks since then we’ve seen the arrival of some extremely talented players, the exits of some who no longer fit at Celtic, and the implementation of a style of play that we haven’t seen at Celtic Park for some time.

As Ange himself said, there will be bumps on the road along the way, and we’ve seen that already, but the turnaround we’ve seen in such a short space of time has been remarkable to date and it bodes very well for our future under his leadership.

He’s shown he has the character, integrity and experience to succeed at a club like ours and there’s no one we’d rather have leading the way.

We now enter the international break and with the transfer window closing this week we’ll know who’s fully committed to the season ahead by the time we return against Ross County on 11th September.

At that stage we’ll then have a chance to truly see the team that Ange has built. (Version 1.0)

With some exciting games coming up in our Europa League group and a title to be won back it’s shaping up to be a rollercoaster of a season. With Ange in the driving seat however I think there'll be more ups than downs!

Ange takes his new look Celtic to Ibrox for the opening Glasgow Derby of the season this Sunday and will be looking for a big result as we head in to the international break. Celtic have shown their quality in an attacking sense recently and we’ll be hoping for more of the same for Kyogo and co. This weekend. Tino, James and Paddy give their thoughts on everything we can expect from the fixture.

Celtic go through to the Europa League group stages after overcoming a tough test v AZ Alkmaar in The Netherlands. Defensive errors were nearly our downfall on the night but ultimately Kyogo’s earlier strike was enough in the end and we can now look forward to European football until Christmas at least.

Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic are on a 6 game winning streak and with 24 goals scored and just 4 conceded in that time momentum is well and truly with the Hoops going into another important week.

First up is AZ Alkmaar in The Netherlands on Thursday night before a midday trip across the city to face rangers in the Glasgow Derby.

As Ange himself said "We Don't Stop" and knows the time for him and the Bhoys to step up to this latest challenge.

Both games will provide a strong indication of just how far this Celtic side have come in such a short space of time and players and fans alike will have a quiet confidence about them given what we’ve witnessed in recent weeks.

Celtic were in flying form as they hammered 6 past The Buddies without reply! David Turnbull was the hat-trick hero with Liel Abada (x2) and Odsonne Edouard also on the scoresheet. That’s now 20 goals in the last 5 games (with only 2 conceded) as Ange Postecoglou’s system continues to take shape.

Celtic claimed a 2-0 win tonight in the first league of the Europa League Play-Off with goals from Kyogo Furuhashi (who else!) and James Forrest (kinda!). Yes we rode our luck at times but there’s no doubt Ange is getting a tune out of this squad with the players clearly responding to his system. Special credit to Tony Ralston who was excellent tonight - again!

In an attacking sense Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic are a joy to watch and 16 goals in 4 games tells you that’s the case. Free flowing, attacking football is the order of the day under our new man. However, cheap goals and lapses in defence have also been a factor in his early reign so far – most recently the 2 goals conceded to Hearts – and this must be addressed if Celtic are to have a reasonable chance of success this season. The quote that is the title of this episode is attributed to Alex Ferguson, who knows all there is to know about winning titles. Celtic – and more specifically the board – would do well to pay attention to this and to ensure that Ange’s defence is strengthened significantly in the 2 weeks that remain of this transfer window. If they do deliver for Ange, then we fully expect Ange to deliver for us!

Celtic seen off Hearts 3-2 in the Premier Sports League Cup this afternoon with goals from Edouard, Welsh and Kyogo. The scoreline probably isn’t a fair reflection on Celtic’s dominance on the day but ultimately the game’s about scoring goals and it ended up a bit neater in the end than it should have been. However cup football’s all about going through and that’s what’s been accomplished this afternoon. Celtic now face Raith Rovers at home in the quarter finals as Ange seeks out his first trophy as Celtic manager.

Celtic put in a commanding performance at a packed Celtic Park to turn over Jablonec 3-0 on the night and 7-2 on aggregate. David Turnbull was Man of the Match with two goals but Tom Rogic also gave us a reminder of his qualities with a classy performance.

Ange Postecoglou is less than two months in the door but this weekend's hammering of Dundee finally saw us witness the kind of swashbuckling football we've been promised under him, and if this is a sign of things to come then we could be in for a big season under our new man.

Star of the show was hat-trick hero Kyogo Furuhashi who set Celtic Park alight with his movement, his pace, and his finishing but closely behind was Ryan Christie who showed exactly what he can offer when he's at the top of his game.

We'll face tougher opponents than Dundee in the week's ahead but the indications are there that the players are now responding to Ange's coaching in a system that should only get better with time.

Joe Hart and James McCarthy put pen to paper this week adding some much needed leadership and experience to the dressing room and if Ange can get the two or three other signings he's after then the pieces of the puzzle could all start to fall in to place very quickly for him.

We really shouldn't be getting carried away, but where's the fun in that?! If you're looking for us we'll be some place up near the disco lights!

Ange Postecoglou records his first league win for Celtic in emphatic style. Six goals, new striker home debut hat trick, Tony Ralston volleys, the lot! The Celtic Exchange’s James and Sinky were at the match to give you their reaction to all the action.

Ange Postecoglue chalked up his first win as Celtic Manager as a relatively mixed performance resulted in a 4-2 win against FK Jablonec at the Stadion Strelnice. Kyogo Furuhashi made his first start for the club and also got his first goal with a classy finish and the Japanese international can be pleased with his night’s work. Joe Hart also made his debut between the sticks and he’ll be frustrated at the nature of the goals we conceded, even though I think he can be absolved of blame for both. We now face the Czech’s at a full Celtic Park next Thursday and it should (should!) be a comfortable win back in Glasgow to set up a Europa League play off with AZ Alkmaar.

It's been a week to forget for Celtic as Ange Postecoglou still searches for his first win after three competitive fixtures.

Hearts inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Saturday night following an identical scoreline against FC Midtjylland during the week, and this team must learn quickly to capitalise on the notable possession they've held in each of their fixtures so far.

We're now in August yet only three senior additions have been made to the squad in the shape of Liel Abada, Carl Starfelt & Kyogo Furohashi, with the latter two featuring against Hearts having barely met their new team-mates.

All should go on to have an impact at the club, but they can't do it alone and they'll be hoping to be joined by several new colleagues in the Lennoxtown cafeteria ASAFP if we're to give ourselves a fighting chance of any success this year.

Frustratingly Starfelt and Furohashi only appeared following our Champions League exit and the time for action is now in terms of the board supplying Ange with the additional signings he clearly needs. The last few days of August could already be too late as far as our aspirations for the season are concerned!

Next up, a Europa League qualifier away to Jablonec of the Czech Republic on Thursday followed by the visit of newly promoted Dundee at Celtic Park on Sunday where 24,000 fans will be hoping for a quick turnaround in our early season fortunes.

Ange Postecoglou's first league game ended in defeat as Celtic went down 2-1 at Tynecastle in a game that, like against FC Midtjylland, looked there for the taking. If we continue with the personnel we have, this is what we’ll get and it’s over to Dom McKay and co. to provide re-enforcements immediately – otherwise, Ange will be unable to carry out his role effectively. It’s as simple as that. An early goal for ex-Celt Gary Mackay-Steven had us up against it but an impressive equaliser from Ralston early in the second half saw us take control. Then when it looked like we were the more likely to score, it was Hearts who stole the points with a late John Souttar header. It’s still unclear where Scott Bain was at that moment in time. We look very much a work in progress at this early stage, but the progress must come quicker than we’ve seen so far. Next up, another key game as we face FK Jablonec in a Europa League qualifier on Thursday.

Celtic limped out of the Champions League at an early stage yet again with a weak performance against a limited Danish side tonight at the MCH Arena. Despite taking the lead with a brilliant Callum McGregor volley that was about as good as it got for us on the night and it gradually went from bad to worse as we gave up a couple of cheap goals to ultimately lose out after Extra Time. If truth be told it's hard to think of a single chance we created in the extra time and that in itself has to be a big concern for the manager. Ange is absolved from blame given what he's inherited and to have to go into such an important game with such an inexperienced back four, and with such poor goalkeeping options is criminal. However there's now a job to be done ahead of our league opener this weekend and no time to feel sorry for ourselves. If it's a silver lining of sorts the board must see the deficiencies of our squad and must act NOW to give Ange a fighting chance.

Celtic snatched a draw from the jaws of victory in Ange Postecoglou’s first competitive game as a moment of madness from Nir Bitton reduced us to 10-men late in the first half against FC Midtjylland.

Unfortunately it’s not the first time we’ve seen this from the experienced international and it was all the more frustrating with his sending off coming at a spell in the game when we were in the ascendency having taking the lead through debutant Liel Abada.

In many ways it felt like a lost opportunity, however there were plenty of positives to take from the game including the debut from Abada, the return of the real Ryan Christie, and the emergence of young Dane Murray, and it’s all to play for as we head to Denmark for the return leg this week.

We can also look forward to the long awaited arrival of Carl Starfelt and Kyogo Furohashi in the coming days whilst we also bid farewell to Quadruple Treble winner Kris Ajer and a wee guy called Marian Shved as the revolving door at Celtic Park continues to spin.

If you were ever in any doubt about our defensive frailties (and if so where have you been?!) then this was highlighted further in the heavy friendly defeat by West Ham, and Ange must be given re-enforcements in these areas if he’s to have any chance of success.

Even this early in the season it’s a hugely important week ahead for him and his squad as they try to navigate the second leg against the Danes as well as a tricky opening league fixture against Hearts at Tynecastle.

In his own words Ange has said that this is a massive challenge but one he’s come into with his eyes wide open and he says it’s exactly why he does what he does!

He continues to impress and we’ll be backing him all the way, this week and beyond.

Match Reaction live from Celtic Park as Celtic draw 1-1 with FC Midtjylland in Ange Postecoglou's first competitive game as manager. A goal by Liel Abada on his competitive debut put the Hoops ahead in the tie but a couple of moments of madness by Nir Bitton reduced Celtic to 10 men going into the break. Midyjytlland then had a man of their own sent off before grabbing an equaliser which was generally against the run of play, with Barkas looking particularly suspect for this one. Top men on the night were Ryan Christie, Ismaela Soro and Callum McGregor, with the latter picking up the official Man of the Match award. Great to be back at Celtic Park and all to play for now in next week's trip to Denmark.

After an incredible delay of 501 days, fans will finally be allowed to return to Celtic Park for competitive action in this week’s Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland.

It’ll be an emotional and exciting night for the 9,000 fans in attendance who’ll be roaring the Bhoys on for the first time since a 5-0 victory v St Mirren way back on 7th March 2020.

Yes Ange would have liked more time to work with the squad, and yes he would have liked more new signings on board, but don’t underestimate how focused and determined he and new captain Callum McGregor will be as they look to steer the team through a difficult opening fixture.

New Bhoys Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada haven’t made the squad for this one but we look at the impact they can have on the team as Ange strives to add some quality for the challenges that await him this season.

This week we also spoke with David Turnbull, Liel Abada and B Team Manager Tommy McIntyre, who each provided some insight into how the season is shaping up from their point of view.

Despite appearances from recognised senior players such as Callum McGregor, Odsonne Edouard and Albian Ajeti across the last couple of games, our first two pre-season fixtures have been top-heavy with talented young players from the club’s development squad.

The likes of Karamoko Dembele, Adam Montgomery and Ewan Henderson are well known to many, whilst others such as Owan Moffat, Leo Hjelde and Dane Murray have yet to come to prominence.

However for all of these youngsters, there will never be a better opportunity to make the grade at Celtic. Many are at the cross-roads of their Celtic careers and now is their time to shine.

The senior players will return in numbers of course for the next couple of friendlies and they should (I repeat should!) be joined by several new signings in the coming weeks, but such is the state of flux at the club at this time then the door is open for any youngster who impresses Ange in the coming weeks.

As fans we know that first team ready signings are an absolute must as we look to re-build, and this should be the club’s priority at this time. The manager must be supported with new signings imminently.

However, as a fan base we also love nothing more than seeing one of our own make the grade and this could be the opportunity for several of our youngsters to stake their claim for a place in Ange’s new look Celtic.

In this week’s episode we also review the pre-season games so far, the instant changes that Ange has implemented, and look ahead at what we can expect in the coming games as we prepare for our forthcoming UCL qualifier with FC Midjytlland.

Ange took to the mic at Lennoxtown last week and gave us a small insight into his training ground methods and the demands he’ll be putting on his players.

The mic’d up footage was impressive to see and with each passing day Ange continues to win over the doubters as he gets down to the hard work of preparing for the season ahead.

Ultimately he’ll be judged by results on the park but so far, so good.

Described by his former assistant Arthur Papas as someone who is “obsessed by his work” it seems clear that Ange knows what he wants and with the right backing then he’ll be confident of achieving it.

The players will now be based in their pre-season training camp in Wales for the next 10 days or so and with two friendly games due to take place there (v Sheffield Wednesday & Charlton Athletic) we’ll get a first glimpse of what an Ange Postecoglou Celtic team looks like.

New Bhoys Liam Shaw & Osaze Uroghide will be looking to make an impression as well as the much debated Leigh Griffiths as we continue our preparation for the competitive kick off which is now just two weeks away!

We were delighted to be joined in the studio recently by Michael Burns and Davie Carswell who are bringing The Tommy Burns Story to Celtic Park in November of this year.

As you can imagine this has very much been a labour of love for everyone involved in the project and it was a privilege to learn more of Tommy through the lens of his family via Michael.

Davie also provided some tales of his own admiration for Tommy as well as some background of the play and on how it first came to be.

As you’ll hear this is about so much more than Tommy Burns the footballer, and instead is centred on Tommy Burns the man, and the legacy he leaves behind.

It’s now been over 13 years since Tommy’s sad passing in May 2008 but his memory continues to burn as brightly as ever.

Ange Postecoglou and Dom McKay gave their first official press conferences as Celtic Manager and CEO on Friday and as impressive as their answers were much of the focus since has been on the input and the value of Fan Media (such as ourselves) at such an event.

There’s been a notable backlash from the mainstream media itself, which is perhaps no huge surprise, but also from some fans of the club, which is a bit more disappointing to see.

Like a lot of things in life the media you consume is a choice. If you like what the Fan Media groups are doing and that’s a good fit for you then that’s great. And if you don’t, and would rather seek an alternative media source, then that too is fine. Find what work’s best for you. No abuse necessary.

That aside we take some time to cover some of the strong and encouraging statements made by Ange and Dom McKay and what they could mean for the club and the fans in the season ahead.

Genuine optimism seems to be slowly (but surely) returning to the club. Here’s hoping we’re at the dawn of an exciting new era.

With rumours abound that ex-manager Gordon Strachan and ex-player Eric Sviatchenko may be returning to the club it seems that Celtic are taking a somewhat unorthodox approach to the new “shared vision” that Dom McKay and Ange Postecoglou have for modernising the club.

Like so much of what we’ve seen in recent months it may just be paper/online talk but it’s done little to give confidence to the fans so desperate for a fresh start given what we witnessed last season.

Ange has a job on his hands assessing the current squad as well as recruiting as effectively as possible, and whether it’s Gordon Strachan or someone else there’s no doubt he needs assistance to do so in the short few weeks between now and the first competitive game of the season.

By and large it feels like the fans will be giving Ange their full backing. It’s important that the club do the same.

Just a short 106 days in the making and Celtic have finally named Ange Postecoglou as the man to take us forward into a new era for the club.

With a to-do list the length of the Gold Coast the fans will be hoping he gets off to a flier as he sets out to get us back on track following last season’s disappointments.

A squad overhaul will be top of the list and regardless how talented Ange may be, much of his success will depend on how well he’s backed, and how effective his new signings will be in the season ahead.

Whether you agree with his appointment or not he’s here now and we’ll be backing him all the way as we look to get reclaim the league title and to restore our credibility on the European stage.

With just 10 days until pre-season and despite patter such as "at an advanced stage" and "very shortly" flying about since last week, we still (at time of recording) find ourselves without a new manager.

However, all roads point firmly towards Ange Postecoglou as being the man to take the job with reports this week claiming that personal terms have been verbally agreed (where have we heard that before!) and that he should be jetting in to Glasgow this week ahead of his new role.

A period of quarantine awaits him on arrival, as well as some doubt over his UEFA coaching papers, but that aside what else could possibly go wrong.....?

They say a week's a long time in football and it's fair to say that a lot has happened in Celtic world in the 7 days since our last episode.

Eddie Howe is now yesterday's man as the "done deal" that everyone at the club was so relaxed about (apparently) has now come un-done, leaving us with no permanent manager to speak of for the 14th consecutive week! Consistent if nothing else!

But fret not Celtic fans as big Angie Postecoglou has been biding his time in the J-League waiting for the call, and seems set to come to our rescue in the coming days. And here's us thinking we were in trouble for a minute too.

Not many of us will have had much information on the 55 year old Australian before Friday, but thanks to twitter and our mate's brother in Melbourne we too now have a very sketchy knowledge of the man destined to take us back to the very top.

Unless the whole thing’s just been a very, very elaborate hoax it now looks like Eddie Howe will be named as our new Head Coach in the coming days (or by 1st June at the absolute latest) and all just a short 13 weeks or so since Neil Lennon left the club!

With Bournemouth consigned to the EFL Championship for another season this seems to have signalled the go-ahead for Celtic to now also secure Howe’s preferred coaching team as he sets the wheels in motion for the sizeable rebuilding job that lies ahead.

Solid recruitment will be high up on the to-do list for the new man, with uncertainty in the air over what current players will be in place for the project, and on what calibre of talent he'll be able to bring in.

The Euros await for David Turnbull and a number of his team-mates in the coming weeks and though the young midfielder will play a key role in the revolution it’s less obvious who will join him for the new season.

With fans also returning to stadiums (stadia?) around the UK we look back at the last game we each experienced at Celtic Park and Mif also gets all glassy eyed with his tales of Seville as we mark 18 years since that day back on 21st of May 2003.

It's hard to tell if Saturday's game against Hibs was some sort of final testimonial for Broony, such was the lack of notable action on display, however what we do know for sure is that we can now finally close the door on the riot of a season that was 2020/21.

In theory this should now open the door to the exciting possibilities of what next season may bring but we remain as much in the dark today as we were when Lenny left the building all those weeks ago.

Maybe this week will be the week though eh...! (But then again, maybe not).

They say all you get from looking back is a sore neck, but for this week's episode, and for one last time, we take a look at where it all went wrong this season and what the main issues were for this group of players (*Spoiler Alert: We have no concrete answer to this question!).

Moving forward we'll strive to keep it positive (we promise!) as we await news on what the next version of Celtic will look like.

We also cover some of the key dates that await Celtic in terms of European and League fixtures for 2021/22 as they players now break up until mid-June. Which ones will be returning under the new regime though is anyone's guess.

We've made it lads. It's finally over!

After the worst season in recent history we can finally bring the shutters down on season 2020/21 and look ahead to whatever the future will bring.

The transition starts now with long serving skipper Scott Brown having played his final 90 minutes for the club and he goes with everyone's thanks and best wishes after a phenomenal 14 years at the club.

The question remains over who else has played their last for the club but with 4 loanees returning to their parent clubs and big questions over the futures of Edouard, Ajer and Christie to name but a few then the starting line-up for our next competitive fixture will be markedly different from the one we seen today.

Celtic took on Scottish Cup finalists St Johnstone in our final home game of the season - and more poignantly the final home game that captain Scott Brown will play for the club after 14 years at Celtic Park.

He himself played a key role in an impressive second goal with an assist for Odsonne Edouard with the Bhoys eventually running out as 4-0 winners.

The shutters can’t come down quickly enough on this season as Celtic turned in another performance similar to so many others that have gone before it – plenty of possession, plenty of chances, zero points!

There are some players who we know for sure won’t be here next season, and some others who already seem to have one foot out the door, but in truth of those who’ll remain there’s only a handful that you’d want the new manager to be working with as we look to get back on track next season.

The announcement of a new manager/head coach can’t come soon enough, however the workload for the incoming coaching team looking more ominous with each passing performance.

Before the fans can have a well earned lie down however there’s still two league games to be played out against St Johnstone and Hibs. We cannae wait!

It’s now almost 9 weeks since Neil Lennon left the building at Celtic Park and the silence grows louder by the day.

With Season Ticket renewals on the horizon the cynics amongst us predict that we’ll hear news of our new Head Coach sooner rather than later, but either way some form of communication is needed as we as a fanbase grow increasingly anxious ahead of next season.

On the park there’s little to get excited about with just three matches remaining before we bring the shutters down on this ridiculous season against Hibs on the 15th of May.

Before then we face a Rangers side who’ve shown their own fragility in recent days, which begs the question of just how well they would have responded to any sort of credible title challenge this season had we managed to get our act together.

Celtic played out a game tonight against Aberdeen which has been typical of so many of our games this season. It included the concession of a set piece goal, the lions share of possession, a failure to convert, and ultimately a failure to take all three points. A late Leigh Griffiths goal salvaged a point for Celtic and we were also treated to a rare glimpse of Karamoko Dembele but there was very little to get excited about apart from that. Celtic turned in as bad a performance as they’ve produced all season as their Scottish Cup defence fizzled out this weekend at Ibrox.

Despite the poor display there were clear cut chances to make a contest of it but a mixture of poor finishing and an overall lack of belief led to a 2-0 win that our opponents barely had to break sweat for.

In truth that lack of belief has been the story of our season and a serious shift in mindset is required if we’re to make any sort of recovery in the season ahead.

Prep for 2021/22 is now finally underway with Dominic McKay officially in the building, but of more concern is the ongoing lack of action regarding who will be in the dugout next season – as well as what players they’ll have to work with!

The hard work starts here and we now rely on those in charge make the right calls in the weeks ahead as we look to restore credibility.

Given the season we've had to endure it can only get better from here....can't it?!

Celtic had a chance to salvage something from what's been a woeful season so far but failed miserably by giving up their Scottish Cup in a timid display at Ibrox. The big news pre-match was that James Forrest had failed to make the starting line-up but in truth it likely wouldn't have had a huge bearing on the final outcome as the team showed a fragility that's been all too evident this season. Despite the poor performance Celtic actually created the more clear cut chances over the 90mins - including a poor Odsonne Edouard penalty - but overall there can be no complaints as this 2020/21 season finally fizzled out. Despite frenzied speculation this time last week Celtic seem no further forward in their quest to name a new Head Coach, with the Eddie Howe chat cooling off somewhat over the last 7 days or so.

Welcome back Celtic. Where have you been? Celtic firmly clicked into gear this afternoon with an impressive performance against Livingston in our first league fixture after the split. Though there's little at stake in terms of the league, an important Scottish Cup tie with Rangers awaits next weekend and John Kennedy's players will be brimming with confidence after a clinic display at Celtic Park. Celtic were in full control from the first whistle and gave the kind of performance that's been missing all too often this season. Returning winger James Forrest continued to show us what we've been missing with another solid performance which included the opening goal, though there was cause for concern with him having to leave the field of play early with a tight hamstring. Moi Elyounoussi also showed what he's capable of and many fans will be hopeful that Celtic can keep a hold of the talented Norwegian for next season. Though nothing had yet been confirmed when we took to the mics for this week’s recording all signs seem to point towards Eddie Howe being named Celtic’s new Head Coach in the coming days.

Dermot Desmond came out via the club website this week to clarify matters for the fans around the ongoing managerial situation. In truth however, a lot of words were used to say very little, with the principal shareholder leaving much of his statement open to interpretation. So is an announcement imminent?

Almost 5 weeks have now passed since Neil Lennon left the building yet we seem to be no further on in our search for his replacement.

Eddie Howe, Roy Keane and Enzo Maresca remain amongst the bookie’s favourites for the job, though all three (as well as countless others!) continue to divide the opinions of the fans.

Ross County added to their League Cup win at Celtic park in November with a 1-0 League win on Sunday night to condemn Celtic to their 4th League defeat of the season.

You can add those 4 defeats to the 7 draws from our 30 games so far for a total of 26 points dropped (with 8 games still to go!)

Top flight football managers don't survive this kind of form (a 50% strike rate of 6 wins in 12 from 2021 alone!) but somehow Neil Lennon does?

Celtic recorded their 5th straight league win with a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen at Celtic Park, thanks to a long range strike from David Turnbull..

A result like that would usually be cause for celebration but like so much of Celtic’s play this season it was a difficult 90 minutes to endure.

Getting the 3 points is always the priority, but the performance is important – it always has been at Celtic – and we’re just not getting that from this Celtic team.
