Today is the last episode in the series focusing on helping you restore and overcome the limiting belief of feeling like you’re broken.

Today’s episode is all about the art of Kintsugi - weaving threads of gold through your broken pieces to create something even more beautiful. I am going to talk about how really honoring this art from Japan can help you thread an entirely new picture of your life, one where you absolutely forgo the idea that you were broken in the first place - one where you see how special and beautiful you really are.

Let’s dive in.

Today’s episode talks about how you can go from feeling broken and settling for less, to owning your self-worth and really taking your power back in life. This is an important episode because even if you haven’t shifted your belief that you’re broken, you can start to own your self worth, set boundaries and live a life you dream of.

You can begin to have your needs met and begin to believe in yourself.

Today we’re going to talk about taking some of those steps and learning really how simple actions, both internal and external can help you feel more worthy as you begin to outgrow the belief of “I am broken, fix me!”

View Details

When you carry the feeling that you’re broken, you can think that you will feel that way forever. Or at least that you will feel that way anytime anything bad happens to you. But the truth is that you can change your belief - in fact, you can change any limiting belief you hold about yourself or the world.

No matter whether you’ve felt or believed you were broken for 10 minutes or several decades, today we’re going to talk about the fact that you can begin to shift that belief by going within. And while this isn’t an overnight process, it is one that can help you feel more confident, grounded and whole.

So, I hope you’ll find some inspiration in this episode and that it provides a foundation for you to turn inwards and do a little self-exploration.

We’d like to think that the thoughts in our head, stay in our head. That they don’t have impact on our lives, actions, or outer world. But the old adage of what you are or what you experience is what you think - is 100% true. Your perspective colors what you see - so even if you never tell anyone that you hold beliefs like “I feel broken”, chances are you are experiencing the impact of that belief in a multiple ways in your outer world.

In this episode I want to help you understand the impact of believing your broken and how repeated buy-in to that belief is likely limiting your growth and your life. I also discuss how simply creating awareness around the way you think, can begin to change it. The reality is that "I’m broken" has likely been playing in the background of all your other thoughts and actions - like a puppet master directing the show. But, when you shine a light on it, it can begin to lose its power. So let’s dive in.

Oh gosh, I’m so excited for you to join me. It’s been a while since I recorded a podcast and this new series I’m kicking off is important. I can’t tell you how many times a week I hear from individuals and clients who tell me they’re broken. And while sometimes they may say it jokingly, this single - horribly destructive - belief is at the core of why so many of us are still suffering in life or at the very least, not getting what we really want. Too many of us are carrying a shame and pain around this feeling and as a result - I’ve decided to record a five series podcast about the topic of feeling broken - how it’s actually impacting your life and business, how it was formed, ways you overcompensate, why you don’t change and finally how to heal this feeling. Today we begin with the first in this series where we dive and talk about what it means to feel broken and how it might be impacting you more than you think.

Although we’ve talked about storytelling before on the podcast, I keep coming back to it because the truth is that there is something deep about connecting to our own personal story - it can elevate you or bring you to your knees. So, we have to be careful what stories we tell ourselves and the world. The more I experience life I know this to be true. So, on today’s podcast I wanted to bring Lindsay Hotmire on to share her take on storytelling - mostly because I enjoy reading her content and feel that she really seeks to understand her clients from the inside out. Lindsay herself has always felt like an old soul to me, but it turns out what makes her so good at brand storytelling has more to do with her own curiosity about herself, her values and her own mindset. I love how deeply Lindsay thinks about storytelling and really the way we show up in the world and I know you will too. I’m grateful she decided to join me for this special conversation.

When it comes to growing your business, it’s no secret that I believe mindset needs to come first, but it’s not all about working on your mindset. You have to take action if you’re going to move through life’s plateaus and achieve next level growth. But not all action is equal. One thing I’ve learned is that as a quick start I can take action, but that doesn’t mean it’s always right action. Same goes for my counterparts who want to think through every single possible outcome before they take action - that may not always lead to right action either. Today on the podcast I sit down with Frenchie Ferenczi to talk about the tactical side of mindset. Frenchie is a business growth strategist who hasn’t always bought into mindset because she says that sometimes you need to action your way out of a situation. But not all action is equal. On this episode we talk about the fine balance between mindset and action and how you can use both to really grow your business and get to where you want in life.

It can be hard when things don’t go the way you’ve planned or if the business you’ve worked hard to build suddenly feels like it’s sliding downward rather than growing and thriving. But how we handle these backslides, missteps, mistakes or even failures can indicate how we’ll rebound and how we’ll handle the next big challenge. I often think that backslides can be an invitation to grow bigger and to challenge what’s really possible. But that’s not always how I handled them and chances are it may not be how you’re handling a backslide or bad situation in your life or business. This episode talks about how you can get better at handling adversity and really using it to reflect and grow.

One of the things I don’t often talk about on the podcast is my constant fascination and observation about the ways we run away from ourselves. We live in a society that glorifies numbing out as a way of dealing with discomfort and I see that more and more the business world seems to address stress, anxiety and crisis with substance. I know personally I have had those days where wine becomes the go-to as a way to destress, but in reality it makes things worse. I also have seen people abstain but still struggle with finding greater satisfaction. Today on the Mindset First Podcast I want to break through all this and redefine success through Soulbriety. Dr. Elisa Hallerman is the author of this incredible book that I recently listened to and read that has made a big impact on how I face the obstacles to success - whether it’s in my personal or business life. I felt compelled to share her with you because every day I see so many of us dealing with trauma - and brush it aside as nothing. Today we talk about why it’s so important to heal our trauma so we can return to our soul and that place where we get to experience true success. I’m beyond thrilled for you to listen.

As someone who grew up with a clear message to make myself indispensable in any situation, hustling and making things happen are almost second nature to me. But hustling can lead to a lot of frenetic business growth and personal overwhelm. I know because I have been there many times in my life. This hustle mentality is certainly encouraged by our culture with little isms like “the early bird gets the worm”, “hustle brings the dollar” and others. And although many of us who are business owners started our own businesses to rebel against that kind of hustle culture - I’ve often found that business owners are horrible bosses to themselves and end up doing too much just for the sake of growing their business. In this episode, I explore the hustle mindset and share with you ways to become more intentional about your growth without always having to bump into new obstacles that thwart upward momentum.

There is nothing better than a good story to pull people in. I know I’m a sucker for a good story and love anyone who elevates storytelling to an art form. Yet most of us get stuck in the mindset that our story isn’t good enough, important enough, different enough to garner attention or help us share who we are. So, instead we hide or remain uncomfortable sharing who we are. Because I often surround myself with marketers, lawyers, writers, interesting business owners and creatives, I am lucky to have learned some great techniques surrounding storytelling - but get that this is a place that too many business owners get stuck - so on today’s podcast I wanted to share with you Amy Collins, story guide, email maverick and comedian. It’s been fun to watch this last part of her story come out. Amy shares with all of us how to tap into that part of us that is interesting and how we can use it to create better connections with those we serve.

It’s interesting, but the term manifestation and manifesting seems to be popping up everywhere lately. I think when we face turbulent times like a recession or economic downturns, manifestation comes back into vogue because we aren’t really sure how we’re going to make it through the rough times - so instead we double down on wishing for things we want and trusting that the universe will bring it to us. The problem with the way manifesting shows up in this online world is a little bit confusing at best and perverse at its worst. If you’ve listened to this podcast before, then you already know that I’m not a fan of sitting back and waiting for things to come your way - but I do believe that your thoughts and your actions do draw in exactly what you intend. So, it’s important to align all your thoughts and actions into the right direction so it can result in the right action. This episode is dedicated to helping you use manifestation to help you get exactly what you want this year and beyond. I can’t wait to see what comes true for you!

After my interview with Per Andreasen on why mindset strategies sometimes don’t work with people who have ADHD (episode #111), I was flooded with comments from people who felt like they had been seen for the first time. People who have various challenges from anxiety to being on the spectrum - and how that impacts them in both business and in life. I personally have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks (it can literally feel like you have a gun to your head when no real danger exists). Remaining present can feel impossible when your brain can’t seem to shut off - let alone do the things necessary to build momentum and create change. Add to that the fact that you don’t feel very understood by the world, it can feel impossible to accomplish what you truly desire. On today’s podcast, I brought on Gillian Jones to talk about what it means to live life as a female on the spectrum - in life, work and business. Gillian’s honest portrayal of life as it was before her diagnosis and how she lives life now will hopefully help someone who might be struggling to manage life and not sure why. She shares how things like radical acceptance and meditation have helped her, but she’s still figuring out what works - as we all are.

It’s the end of the year and inevitably you’ve already started to think about what 2023 is going to look like. Maybe you’ve even planned out what you’re going to be doing in this upcoming year and you have some big goals set up. But here’s the thing - too many of us forget to look backward before we plan our businesses forward. Maybe it’s because we don’t want to face the reality of what we see - maybe it’s too hard - maybe even for some we have shame. Or alternatively - we think we’ve done really well and we’re just going to be doing the same thing. Only with more clients and perhaps higher pricing. But what inevitably happens when you plan only looking forward is that you end up repeating bad habits and patterns that may not elevate your business to the next level. So, today on the podcast I’m going to show you what it means to look back and reflect on this past year in order to create something better for 2023.

Time is one of the biggest struggles every single person faces - it doesn’t matter if you’re a business owner, an employee, a corporate executive, there isn’t a single person I’ve met in the last year that hasn’t at some point said they needed more time. But the truth is that many of us just can’t make the rigid rules of time management work. And there’s a good reason - I’ve often said that the problem with time begins with how we think about it, how we talk about it and how we focus on it. We come from time with a scarcity mindset and so, no matter what tools we apply - they just don’t work. So, what can we do? On today’s podcast episode, I sit down with holistic time coach (yes, even I didn’t know one existed) and talk about a better way for us to think about time and manage our time. Becca shares her personal story of how burnout and overwhelm impacted her and propelled her to help others who struggle with time and well - no time. This is a great episode for pretty much everyone so we can adopt a more healthy and workable relationship with time in our life and business.

You know those people that you instantly connect with and know you’ll get along with in ways you never thought? That was today’s guest for me. Rachel Greiman and I met in a mastermind several years ago and what struck me was how open and honest she was, funny and that she had struggled with money in a bit of an untraditional way - you see Rachel had no problem setting up her business to make money. In fact, she still does. It’s almost as if making money would be natural for her - but underneath it all, she struggles with making money, letting go of money and not seeing herself as bad for having money. She grew up in a very patriarchal society where she was taught that women had a very different role than the one she has taken on - and while she’s moved on from that society, she has found that she struggled for some time with money mindset on a daily basis. Add to that she’s an Enneagram 2 who needs everyone to like her, and boom - it’s a recipe for head trash. Rachel agreed to come share her story because I think it’s one that is echoed more than we think. I know you’ll enjoy her honesty and powerful story.

A few months ago I had this epiphany. I realized that I had spent my life pushing open some really heavy doors. What do I mean by that? Well, if I wanted it and I didn’t get it, I would work harder - more diligently to get it. But after years of pushing open heavy doors just to get what I want, I realized that maybe, just maybe, I have been doing it all wrong. On today’s episode of The Mindset First Podcast, I want to help you think differently about what you can accomplish when you look not just for the easy door to push, but the open doors. The reality is that many of us take pride in pushing heavy doors open . . . but at what cost? For me that cost has been disappointment, exhaustion and definitely a loss of self-esteem. But realizing I don’t have to keep pushing heavy doors has been an incredible awakening. I’m excited to share this insight with you and hope that by the end of this episode, you’ll commit to stop pushing heavy doors!

I often talk about how there is an entrepreneurial ceiling that many business owners struggle to get past. They are able to get their business up and running, but inevitably hit a financial plateau and find themselves working too hard, not having the freedom they want and still unable to invest in the resources they need to grow bigger. It’s often where business owners get stuck, start to resent their business and have to make a tough decision - do they continue on this path, or do they give up and go get a job. Today, on the podcast I sit down with Chris Orzechowski to talk about how to bust through that ceiling and the mindset it takes to become a 7 figure business.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all only had one limiting belief we had to tackle in order to move on and be great? Like if I only had my stupid belief to contend with I’d have been fine a long time ago. And if that belief didn’t have tentacles and layers to it that drove my fears, my unconscious commitments and my actions - wouldn’t life be grand? Well, yes. The truth is that we have more than just limiting beliefs that hold us back, We have fears, resistance and unconscious commitments and years of conditioning that can make change hard. In this episode, I want to explain how all of the various things going on in your brain are actually interacting and causing a tapestry of beliefs that can make change hard - but not impossible. So, if you’re curious why you haven’t been able to achieve all those goals - tune in.

Do mindset strategies work if you have conditions such as ADD or ADHD? The truth is that it absolutely can. But what’s worse is that if you’re someone who hasn’t recognized that you have ADHD until adulthood, chances are you’ve been carrying around some stories about who you are - misbehaved, unorganized, unmotivated or undisciplined and that can impact how far you really go in business and in life. Today I sit down with my friend Per Andreasen who wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until this past year. He explains why it helped him unlock a lot of answers to his life and how he can now actually apply mindset strategies in a whole new way. This is a great episode for anyone who does struggle with ADHD or has struggled to implement mindset strategies - and what you can do first.

This is an episode I’ve been excited to share for some time. And as an extrovert this might seem like a bit of a funny one for me to deliver - actually I think I might categorize me more as an ambivert because I do love my alone recovery time as much as I love my energizing time out with people.

But, here’s something I’ve noticed. There are people out there who might be incorrectly diagnosing themselves as introverts - or actually might be feeling some things they ascribe to introversion that has nothing to do with being an introvert. Here’s what I’m talking about today - there are a ton of you out there that are leaving networking events, small group interactions, 1 on 1 interactions - feeling exhausted. And you might say to yourself - oh, it’s because I’m an introvert.

But what if it’s actually something else - something you can shift and feel like you can actually get energized by the interactions you have with others? Today on the podcast, I want to talk about the mistaken introvert and how you can begin to feel less exhausted from your interaction with others.

I wanted to invite my friend, Kira Hug back to the podcast because Kira is someone I have observed intentionally work on getting to know herself and the shifts I’ve seen in her as a leader. Kira has always been thoughtful, caring of others and very deep - but as she gets to know how the world actually impacts her and how she wants to show up, I’ve seen her get more intentional about how she serves those in her circle. Kira has graciously come back to talk about her own personal journey with how working on changing her habits and patterns - and getting to know herself better has helped her step into herself in a more powerful way. If you’re someone who does feel impacted by the world and is trying to figure out how you want to show up - this episode is for you.

I sometimes hear from business owners who tell me that they don’t dare put their vision for their business (or life) on paper because they don’t want to be disappointed if they don’t get it. They fear that if they put it on paper it means they won’t get it - or alternatively, if they put it on paper and they do get it - that they then have to manage the dream.

Both options can be scary, but the truth is that fear can cloud your ability to dream for your business or see what you even want for your business. Instead we end up consistently chasing some unknown goal that never feels complete or fulfilling.

On this week’s episode of The Mindset First Podcast I share how fear can cloud your clarity and how to move past fear to dream bigger.

The last time I had Jude on my podcast, it turned out to be one of my favorite conversations and one of the reasons I wanted this season of the Mindset First Podcast to go deeper. Jude helps business owners leverage the power of storytelling to grow his business - but somehow we don’t ever really get to that topic because this time I invited Jude back to talk about what it means to have relentless courage in business. Jude has worked with 7 figure businesses to grow their business using documentaries - but now he’s in a bit of a transition that many might think is crazy. Or at the very least contrary to what most do in business. But that’s who Jude is and how he has actually grown his life and self in ways that many of us don’t even dare. I hope this episode inspires you to think about your own life and what it means to have relentless courage.

You’ve been told to stay away from politics in your business, right?

Well, I know that as someone who does have some strong opinions - this one has been hard for me. I struggle with my own personal values, the fact that I spent most of my life as an advocate and then also respecting the idea that my business is a separate entity that may not carry some of the same opinions.

This can be a mindset struggle for many because as a person you feel strongly about certain things, but unsure how to talk about it or if you even should. On today’s episode, I bring on messaging strategist Peta O’Brien-Day to help me sort through where that line is. And how we can examine our mindset before we choose to share any political opinion.

This is a juicy podcast for any business owner contemplating talking about anything that has the potential to piss off your audience.

So, if you’ve hung out with me and listened to this podcast before, you know that I love talking about fear. Not because I have some dark fixation around it - but really because I know how much fear can dictate choices and limit growth. I personally struggled with so many fears that held me back from really achieving my full potential for years and years - so, once I understood how to break free - it felt a bit like a miracle I had to keep sharing.

Today on the podcast, I talk about how our first natural inclination with fear is to pivot or paralyze and how both can be detrimental to growth. I share why this happens and how you can start to shift from either position into intentional action that aligns with your vision and builds greater things.

So, if you’re someone in either of these two camps - or if you’re not sure, but experience a lot of fear - this episode is for you.

Today’s topic is one I wanted to tackle because it keeps coming up more and more in the groups I lead and the conversations I hold with clients - can childhood bullying impact your business growth.

Sometimes it’s hard to see the connections of our childhood pains to our current business predicaments, but this week on the podcast I wanted to address how deep wounds that result from childhood bullying can keep you from having everything you really want.

This is important if you were picked on, bullied or even just felt different from others because it can be truly hard to implement the four key pillars of growth if you’re still sitting in fear of others! I hope this opens up some ability to create space and growth for you this week.

Nancy also walks us through her pillars of reinvention and shares some great insights on how you can begin to get to where you want to go.

Welcome to the 100th episode of the Mindset First podcast! I’m so excited to have reached this milestone and share with you this week someone I met a few years back when I was still doing marketing strategy and copywriting. Janet Davis is a retired chief of police from Three Rivers, California who helps executives further their career by focusing on authentic leadership. When Janet and I met a few years ago we instantly connected because we both grew up in male dominated professions - me as an attorney and Janet as a police officer and we talked in detail about what it meant to lead as a women in these kinds of fields. It can be confusing to know how to lead authentically when there is a temptation to fit in and be one of the guys. But, what I love so much about Janet is that she really tapped into what it means to lead authentically as a woman and shares her experiences and knowledge with us during this episode. I’m glad she gets to be my 100th guest as I think she offers both men and women something powerful to think about.

This past weekend I attended a conference in Orlando where I had the honor of delivering the keynote speech on redefining success and optimizing your business. But before I ever began the speech, I asked business owners what they most wanted for their business in the next year and what they thought got in the way. Overwhelmingly, people wanted a business that generated more money and flowed better - but the most stated reason they shared was that they didn’t have the time or money to implement what they wanted. It’s a common problem for business owners - but is that it? Is that the real reason why your goals get off track and your business doesn’t look like you want it to? This week on the Mindset First Podcast I share the real reason you might be getting off track and how you can learn to commit better to your goals.

As a service provider who directly works with clients one-on-one, the time in exchange for money game can get tiring. But should you add digital products to help you create other means of revenue? The truth is that it feels like every service provider now also has a digital product to help create so-called passive revenue. But how do you know what’s right for you? And how do you deal with some of the mindset traps that come from putting out a product?

This week I invited Katie Hunt the founder of Proof to Product, to help us get the answer. She’s a business strategist and mentor to product-based entrepreneurs. But this week - she’s come to the Mindset First Podcast to help me answer the question of when is the right time to add a digital product - and what we should consider!

This brought a lot of clarity to me even for my own business and can’t wait for you to listen to her sage advice.

On this week’s episode of the Mindset First Podcast, I tackle an important topic - unconscious commitments. The reality is that many business owners will say they want next level growth in their business - but find themselves taking steps back, self-sabotaging and not taking action in important areas of their business. It can be a constant source of frustration for some - and pretty confusing because deep down in your soul you want more for your business and yourself - but you can’t seem to make it happen. This episode answers the question why sometimes it can seem as if we’re unable to create the growth we say we want and why we see a discrepancy in our businesses. This episode may answer all those questions for you and give you a tool to help you finally take action.

On this week’s podcast episode, I dive into the topic of owning your voice in making an impact.

I think these days as our personal lives and business lives blend more and more as entrepreneurs (especially service based online business owners), it can be extremely difficult to discern your own voice from others and how far to take your own voice. I won’t lie - in the face of the Supreme Court decision this past week, I questioned how strong my voice needs to be because in my personal life I tend to be pretty strong.

But does that serve my business? Does that alienate or include those who need the mindset work I do to have real conversations. This week I explore the idea of voice and the impact you want to make in your business. I hope this helps you draw the line for yourself.

So, how do you succeed in business when no one else looks like you in your industry. That’s the question my guest Samar Owais tackles on today - she is a self described brown, Hijabi wearing, non-native English speaking Muslim woman who has found some impressive growth in her field, but it hasn’t always been easy. Today we talk about the unique challenges she’s faced in business, her own head trash around it and some of the strategies she’s used to get ahead.

I’ve known Samar for a few years now and to watch her grow has been impressive - not naturally quiet or shy, watching her step into her own self - unapologetically has been something fun to witness. I think she was perhaps reserved taking the world in as we all sometimes do - but now, she boldly and proudly talks about who she is and what she brings to the table.

Whether you’re Muslim, brown, white or something entirely different - the biggest takeaway from this episode is how to really stand in who you are - no matter how different the world you live in might feel.

A few years ago, Carol Dweck introduced the idea of growth mindset versus fixed mindset in her appropriately named book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success. She pointed out that when we have a fixed mindset it becomes harder to reach our goals and achieve the success we want. And while many of us would like to think we have a growth mindset or have achieved a more flexible growth mindset in our personal lives, when it comes to business - we tend to be fixed in ways that hold us back and keep us from cracking our own success code.

In this episode, I talk about how a fixed mindset might be holding you back from taking your business to the next level.

One of the first things you’ll hear from experts about scaling your business is that you need a team. But where do you start? Who do you hire first? And how do you find the money to make it all worthwhile? More than any other area of scaling - building a team can bring on head trash and a lot of hesitation because the truth is that who you hire can have a great impact on how you grow your business. On today’s Mindset First Podcast episode, I invited Rachel Mazza who is a marketer and integrator who has helped grow her team from 3 to 23. She shares some of the ins and outs of growing a team and how you can avoid some of the mistakes people make when it comes to scaling this way. I love this conversation with Rachel because she’s so real and shares both strategic and mindset tips to getting beyond your fears and growing a team that can take your business to the next level!

Later becomes never, and your business stalls. This is the time where satisfaction and joy starts to take a big dip for business owners. In this episode, I take a closer look at how the “I’ll work on this later” is really costing your business and some simple things you can do to overcome procrastination and increase productivity and growth in your business.

When it comes to launching your products or services, there is a ton of talk in the marketing world about what you should do during your launch to maximize your sales. But there is this period before the launch that most business owners forget about or neglect - or to be honest, don’t know what to do with, so they simply focus all their efforts around messaging and nurture to the launch. And that leaves a lot of money on the table that goes unclaimed. So, when I started to learn more about what Ash Chow was teaching business owners with digital products, my ears perked up. Ash is an Australian based copywriter who teaches business owners around the world how to improve their sales on day one of their launch by focusing their attention on pre-launch strategies. Instead of packing all your efforts into the end, Ash shares how you can actually pack more of a power punch by starting your efforts earlier. I love what Ash has to share and have worked with her to talk about my own strategies. There is a ton to learn from this episode and she even spills some of her own mindset stories about getting into this space!

On today’s episode I invite back Harvard law Grad turned entrepreneur, Bobby Klink to talk about how we can all get better at writing emails that our subscribers WANT to read. He actually built his multiple six figure business selling something pretty boring - legal templates. But he did so through his email process and has built a cult following because his emails are actually fun to read.

People have compared his sales sequences to "murder mysteries" that you just can't put down... and people actually email him concerned that they've missed something awesome on the rare weeks that he doesn't email his list.

Bobby has distilled his email wisdom into a snark-filled book titled Email Marketing That Doesn't Suck: Have Fun Writing Emails Your Subscribers Will Want To Read (And That Will Actually Make You Money!)" Set to be released on May 3, 2022, his book reads like his emails... his personality jumps off the page as he makes an otherwise dry subject entertaining to learn.

As always Bobby and I have a quick-paced, information filled conversation where I hope you’ll learn a trick or two to keep your audience engaged and wanting to buy from you!

Have you ever reached that point in your business where you feel stuck? Where you’re unsure which direction to take, whether to shift your niche or focus, or how you really want to take your business to the next level? The truth is that most business owners can say yes to all of these questions. And on today’s podcast, I share why having a success blueprint can be essential when it comes to getting “unstuck” and will help you answer the question - what comes next. The truth is that having a clear blueprint - or vision - can make the difference between a good business and an incredible business. But not all business owners invest in the time and energy to create a proper business blueprint and the reason why isn’t because they’re lazy, too busy or don’t know where to begin - no, it’s something different and I touch on it in this week’s episode. I also share with you how you can start to think about your own blueprint and take your business to new heights.

On today’s Mindset First Podcast I sit down with someone who I personally hired to help me rebrand my business (I haven’t yet revealed it to the world as of the date of this recording) and can easily say that Sarah has become a kindred spirit and friend. Sarah Ashman is the founder, brand strategist, creative director and stylist of Public Persona Studio a small multidisciplinary brand consultancy. She brings 20+ years of brand building and has worked as a graphic designer, creative director and stylist for major Advertising Agencies + Fortune 500 brands. She’s worked with such brands as Estee Lauder, Ted Baker London, Vogue, Madonna, Mercedes Benz, Jimmy Fallon and Coach. And what’s best about Sarah is that the same passion that she brings to major brands she brings to individuals to help them build bold, incredibly consistent brands. And while her clients brands speak volumes - what I found so interesting was her willingness to go off the beaten path to help you find the authentic you. Sarah and I recently met in person and I got to learn just how deep her abilities go. This podcast can help you think differently about your brand and go a little deeper with your personal message.

It’s a question we all ask - how do I become more successful? But instead of asking what success really means or looks like for us, we tend to skip to the doing part and look at how we can make more money - faster. Few of us look beyond money as a definition of success and fewer of us reach a satisfying level of success that gives us the things money is supposed to bring.

So, in this episode I tackle the question of how to redefine success on your own terms and perhaps let go of some of the old - outdated definitions that don’t seem to be giving you the things they promised. I also share some of my own personal experiences with success and hope that you’ll get some insights about how the code you have been following is leading you down the wrong path!

In this episode I take a closer look at the story of my own mindset journey. One that kept me from even looking at what was going on in my own life and perpetuating bad patterns and habits long after I knew I was avoiding something. The truth is that many of us are scared to look at mindset - instead of working on our mindset we TRY anything else. We implement strategies to avoid, we collect new skills and buy tons of courses, we hide and tell ourselves lies. . . . all in the name of not blowing up our life as it is. We stay comfortable in our discomfort and never do anything to change. I can tell you from experience that even when you’re avoiding blowing up your life or your business - it can happen anyway. I blew up my life just as I was trying to avoid blowing it up and then perpetuated a bunch of bad patterns and habits as a result - because I painted myself into a real life corner. On this episode I share my personal journey of how I blew up my life anyway. Hopefully it can help you if you’ve been avoiding taking a closer look inside.

As a business owner or marketer, you’ve likely heard of the hero’s journey as a way to connect with your audience. Revised and reignited, the hero’s journey popular a few years back by Don Miller and the StoryBrand method as a way to guide your audience (the hero) to your services. It’s a common story telling device that involves a hero who goes on an adventure, is victorious in a decisive crisis, and comes home changed or transformed. But today’s guest, Hillary Rea - a communication consultant for multi-passionate entrepreneurs and leaders - suggests that the hero's journey can actually cause an identity crisis for your reader. She suggests that the old methods of storytelling that omit your own story don’t build the real connection we need to grow our business. She shares with us what we can be doing that might actually feel a bit more natural for us so we can improve our storytelling abilities as a manner to connect and share our message. I really loved this conversation and it gave me permission to think about a different approach for my own content! I know it will for you too.

This is one of those topics I could address on my own, but I wanted to bring someone else in to talk a bit more in depth about how much mindset and specifically your core limiting beliefs impact your business growth. I decided to invite my own daughter to sit down and talk about this because she offers the perspective of a young, newer business owner and also employee (something we all need to consider if we’re building a team). And I wanted to share some of the core beliefs that still show up for me as a seasoned business owner. We talk about how our beliefs show up in various aspects of our business and strategies you can use to identify your core beliefs and take action against them. Understanding how core beliefs actually hold you back from making more money, finding time for yourself and living in your freedom is an essential first step to creating a framework that finally has you stepping over blocks and getting to what you want.

If you’ve been feeling stuck in your business, but are unsure what beliefs are holding you back from making progress, keeping you in perfectionist loops or even people pleasing to your own detriment . . . this episode will be eye opening. I’m excited to share this with you.

On this week’s podcast, I want to talk about something that I see more of as a repetitive cycle in many of our businesses rather than a state of being - and that is burnout. We hear a lot about burnout from entrepreneurs and that’s because burnout is really something that is associated with our work stressors more than anything else - and the truth is that when we get to burnout, all we want to do is rest, talk about something fun AND not talk about mindset. But the truth is that I wanted to tackle this topic because it truly sabotages success and unless and until we see how WE (yes, I’m gonna call us all out) actually create a cycle of burnout - it will be impossible to stop it or to see a way out. Burnout creates more stop/start problems in business than other mindset struggles because sometimes burnout ends up being the only coping mechanism we have when things get tough. So, I’m hoping that by listening, you’ll start to see your own patterns so that you can powerfully dig your way out of burnout for good!

On today’s podcast I sit down with two people who started out as my mentors and have now become partners in helping people grow their business and manage their mindset. Rob Marsh & Kira Hug are the founders of The Copywriter Club, an organization that supports over 14,000 members to help them launch and grow their own businesses in the copywriting field. They also host a series of programs including a think tank mastermind and a live event that brings together people from all around the globe to connect, conspire and learn more about business growth. I’ve invited them here because they started off as unlikely partners to form a group that has been instrumental in launching others’ careers and know a little bit about the importance of picking the RIGHT partner when it comes to taking your business to the next level. They’ve also invited me in to support their members - and I couldn’t be more excited and proud to be involved with these two. This is a great opportunity for you to listen in if you’ve been wondering who you should partner with to take YOU to the next level.

I don’t always talk about subjects that are bright and sunny on this podcast because sometimes when we face the truth about how we feel in our business or about our business - we can finally make the changes we need to inspire growth and improve our lives. The truth is that we’re so used to being uncomfortable or dissatisfied in the current state of our lives or business that we don’t talk about some of the things that make being a business owner hard - which is why this year I am vowing to tackle some of those topics, both on my podcast and in my programs. Which is why this week I wanted to talk about loneliness and isolation in entrepreneurship and how we can combat this ever growing epidemic. This isn’t something we have to put up with -suffering in silence isn’t noble - it’s actually business crushing and at times soul crushing. And it might even be showing up in surprising ways. Today on the podcast, we cover the topic of entrepreneurial isolation and loneliness and just how it’s showing up - and stopping your business growth.

On today’s podcast I sit down and talk with solo business owner mentor and female leader, Fabienne Fredrickson about the power of female leadership in uncertain times. Fabienne focuses on taking stressed out women (and heart centered men) and shows them how to leverage their business and financial growth while making the impact they want. This is a discussion for both men and women to truly embrace the idea that we can all lean into female leadership and female methods to grow more sanely and intentionally. Fabienne and I share many of the same views when it comes to scaling, growth and really leading intentionally. I have followed Fabienne for years and it’s fun to sit down with her for this powerful conversation.

One question every business owner asks themselves over and over is how can I be more successful? And the truth is that the answer we seek is often in the doing and gathering of information, but in the end, accumulating information and staying busy, doesn't have anything to do with real leverage growth.

You have to first clear the head trash that's blocking you and to create a mindset first strategy that slows you down and builds your business intentionally. This episode is a little peek inside what I do as a success strategist and why I think it's important to see your head trash play out in all the different ways as you grow.

I'll share with you how you can get better at predicting your personal patterns and maybe see how you don't have to stay stuck in the limiting beliefs that hold you back about yourself. The world. Even your own success. I'm hoping you walk away with some greater clarity on what building success means for you and why it's really all in your head.

It used to be that working abroad was reserved for expats of large companies like Motorola or other tech firms. I can actually remember being in my 20’s working for Motorola before I went to law school - watching families pack up their lives and move to amazing places like Hong Kong or Singapore for a few years and experience something that few of us could even imagine. Working abroad for the average entrepreneur was something that just didn’t happen. But as more and more of us expand our ideas of working from home - and really working from anywhere, the popularity of digital nomadism has really exploded. I personally am one who loves to work from anywhere and love being as flexible as humanly possible. I want to be able to pick up my lap top and have internet to connect with people - no matter where I am. And I’m not alone. On today’s episode, I sit down with my friend Francis Nayan to talk about this concept of Digital Nomadism and how you can actually make it work for you. This isn’t a concept that’s available just for people in their 20’s. More and more people want to know how to make it work at every stage of life. And Francis shares some of the essential components of being able to work from anywhere as an entrepreneur - including the mindset that it takes to make this work.

This episode has been one that’s been in the making for some time. For years, I’ve been building courses - for myself and for others. Something many of you don’t know is that I have participated in the development of an online life coach school and am responsible for the development of the business curriculum along with my partner. The one thing that has always impacted me is how so many courses fail to meet the bar - they don’t really accomplish what they claim and don’t give their students the results they want. This obsession - if you will - actually drove me totally revamp my mindset course in the beginning of COVID and add an entire strategic component to help students ACTUALLY take the steps to scale their business. And while I’ve got my hands full as a success strategist for business owners using mindset - I recently teamed up with my daughter who is an editor and training to be a mindset coach to launch a joint venture we’re pretty excited and passionate about - and that is sustainable course creation. I’m excited to introduce you to Maya today and also share with you what we’re offering the world. If you’re looking to build an online course or improve the one you have - this is an episode you’re going to want to listen to right now to take advantage of some special offers we have coming up this month.

Do you remember what it feels like to dream big. When we’re young, we’re told to dream big and go after what we want - only when we try to do that, we have people knocking us down, judging our choices and urging us to play safe. It’s no wonder that after a couple of tries, you give up on your dreams and follow what others tell you to do. It can be easy to lose our inner compass and think we don’t even know - but the truth is it’s important to tap into your dreams if you want to find greater success. Without dreams, there’s no real direction and we end up living a life that’s ordained to be ok at best and resigned at worst. During this episode, I want to help you tap into this idea of dreaming big - without always reverting back to the question of how or automatically dismissing your ability to do it. Because when you can place yourself back into your dreams - a world you forgot about - or never even knew existed opens back up to you.

One of the biggest challenges for competent business owners is how do you take your ideas and turn them into statement pieces that will captivate your audience and draw people in. On today’s episode, I’m excited to share with you Hillary Weiss who I can only describe as having monster creativity and magnetism that you’ll want to experience yourself. Hillary and I talk about how so many of us struggle because we can’t seem to catch the eye of the people we want to attract. We might be super competent in what we do, but we can’t seem to draw the attention of the people we truly want. Hillary and I met a few years ago at a conference and what has always struck me about her is how she has that “thing” that almost hits you in the face - but not in a bad way. Rather in that I want more of that in my life kind of way. And that’s really what HIllary does as a creative brand director - she helps personality driven brands become unforgettable. And today on the podcast, she shares some of her expertise and brilliance so you can start to implement some of that for YOUR business. I’m excited for you to listen to Hillary - there’s no way you won’t feel energized after this episode.

Today on the Mindset First Podcast, I’m excited to share with you a woman I recently met live (I had been on her email list for a couple of years). Jessica Rasdall is a public speaking strategist who has such an easy manner that you can’t help fall in love with her - off stage and on. I wanted to have Jessica on to talk about how to use speaking to scale your business because it’s a tool that so many business owners think of as a nice to have or offshoot of their main marketing tools. But Jessica is a big believer that speaking can help you make a bigger impact and help you grow faster than most other forms of marketing. Today on the podcast we talk about how to use speaking to scale and how you can make this an integral part of your strategy - especially when it comes to building the know-like-trust that allows people to purchase from you. This episode is a must-listen for any business owner who is ready to scale your business and wants to explore the idea of speaking as a means to getting to the next level! I love Jessica’s insights and some of the surprising information she shares.

On today’s Mindset First podcast, I want to tackle a topic I often address in private and group coaching sessions and my vision program but don’t always remember to talk about - and that’s stage of life. When it comes to building a business, most people talk about investing time, energy, money and more and it’s often talked about as equal - the ability to do so. But the truth is that your stage of life can truly impact how much you’re able to give to your business and how you feel about it. And because stages of life change all the time, it’s important to recognize that your stage of life can almost have a bigger impact on growing your business than anything else. So, on today’s podcast, I talk about why some of the things you're feeling about yourself or your business may have nothing to do with your business - but have more to do with where you are and how much you’re actually recognizing the impact of your life on your business. This is one of those episodes that I hope gives you a new perspective on growth and maybe shifts some of the more negative or detrimental mindsets that are impacting your business growth.

If you’ve ever experienced the loss of a loved one, you know how disorienting it can be. For me, the last 11 years were marked with the loss of loved ones. My husband and I lost all four of our parents. I experienced the loss of people who were dear to me when I was young and also the loss of some hopes and dreams that my husband and I might be able to expand our family. Each one of those losses were extremely impactful on who I was and how I showed up - but none more than my dear mother who was my best friend, my confidant, my cheerleader, my rock. So much of what I do and who I am was shaped by that loss 5 ½ years ago. It made me way more intentional. But it could have gone the other way - I could have gotten lost. I think the same is true for my guest today. When someone recommended I interview Raven Douglas for the Mindset First podcast, the one thing that struck me most about her was her willingness to talk about grief on her non-website (if you visit her website, you’ll know what I mean). Raven used the loss of her father to reinvent the way she worked with clients and how she works - in a way more intentional way.

This is a powerful episode for anyone who has experienced a grief so deep that it breaks you into a million pieces - and how you can use that experience to rebuild something that feels way more authentic and honoring.

One of the things you’re always looking to do as a business owner is gain an advantage over the competition. You can do it by being better than others, you can do it through marketing . . . but did you know you can also create an advantage by understanding mindset? The truth is that when we understand how we block our own growth (and free ourselves from those blocks) and some of the mindset blocks our potential customers face we can talk to them in a whole new way that not only improves our sales process - but also our ability to deliver exactly what our customers want and need. This isn’t about manipulation, but really about creating an advantage that meets both your desires and your customer’s needs. The truth is that so many businesses aren’t successful because they’re talking past each other like ships in the night - but understanding how you’re showing up and where your customers are coming from can be a game changer when it comes to communication and your overall confidence and success!

Today’s podcast is going to get very meta. I initially invited Jude Charles onto the podcast to talk about how to leverage video storytelling to scale your business, but we quickly dove into some pretty deep topics surrounding the building of our businesses and the mindset stories we tell ourselves that hold us back. We even then talked about how we sometimes forget to share those stories of pain, hardship and discovery when we tell our stories to our audience - and that can be a real disservice. Jude is incredibly thoughtful and clearly good at his craft because his own story of building an incredibly intentional business where he actually takes only 5 clients and two months off out of the year might surprise you. I know that I learned so much about my own storytelling and how I can improve it when it comes to the way I share myself - I know you will too.

Whenever I bring up the word responsibility in my coaching groups and workshops, I can hear the audible sigh that instantly follows. It’s almost like the word responsible has become a dirty word - and it definitely carries with it significant weight. None of us wants to think about taking more responsibility in our life - because let’s face it, between our work, personal life and listening to our friends - we have already taken a lot of responsibility. But what if understanding responsibility in a whole new way was the key to finding the freedom you desired in your business and in your life. It can be. In fact, when I learned to take radical responsibility for my life and my choices, I discovered that I suddenly had the power to change the way my life looked. It definitely changed how I felt about myself and my self-worth. In fact, the conversation around responsibility is often the turning point for many of my clients in our coaching sessions. And it can be for you too. I am excited to turn you on to the idea of radical responsibility and how it can change your life!

I often talk about how becoming unstoppable begins with shifting your mindset and reclaiming your power. Too often we give our power away with simple excuses, stories we tell ourselves about why we can’t do something and how the world isn’t delivering what we want. But the one thing you might not be aware of is that your negative mindset and head trash is also polluting your marketing message. The truth is that your mindset can impact what you say, how you say it and even how often you’re willing to say it. It can even drive you to create offers and programs that you think your audience wants - but maybe aren’t ready for. This is a real problem and can send your mindset - even further into the toilet. So, on this episode - I want to share my personal story around how mindset has driven my message over the years and how even now - when I feel like I’ve reached a place of being more authentically me than ever before - I can still fall into the mindset trap driving bad messaging. Tune in for some strategies and ways for you to identify what’s going on for you.

Today in the podcast, I'm taking a bit of a different turn. I'm always about how do we fill our toolbox with things that help us get a better understanding of who we are, how we can grow and how we can move past feeling stuck and a little-known secret about me is that I kind of love astrology. And I have, since I was a kid before. I was highly influenced by my mom. So today on the podcast I invited a wonderful expert. This is a fun episode and Jennifer helps us demystify some of the pieces around astrology, and it helps us realize that it is more than just reading your horse group. It can be a tool to think about. When it comes to your next big step, your growth and how you're putting yourself out in the world. So, I hope you enjoy this episode.

So, I thought devoting an entire month to the topic of sales would be enough. Turns out I was wrong. Which is why I’m adding a few more episodes on the topic. The truth is that the biggest thing we all struggle with as business owners is getting more sales. I don’t care if you’re brand new or a seasoned veteran, a consultant or a marketer. We all would love more sales and the ability to shorten the sales cycle. The truth is that most people don’t buy from you right away. Sometimes it can take up to two years of being on your email list or in your circle before someone can buy from you - but you need money today! So, how do you shorten this sales cycle and get a flow of business coming through your door. Today I sit down with sales turn around specialist Jeremy DeMerchant to talk about how we all as business owners can shorten our sales cycle whether we have a team or not. Besides the fact that I felt immediately connected to Jeremy because we share a birthday, I really appreciate Jeremy’s easy-to-grasp methods of talking about sales! I’m excited for you to tune in and keep building your sales strategy toolbox.

When clients seem to be showing up out of nowhere and finances are flowing - it can seem like you can breathe for a moment and give yourself the well-deserved pat on the back for all of your efforts. But when things slow down or when something negative happens in your business, it can feel hard to find your confidence. It can feel like all you hear is the negative self-talk swirling around in your head (day and night). So, what do you do? How do you pick yourself back up and better yet - stay steady so that every turn in your business doesn’t send your self-worth and confidence down the toilet. During this episode of the Mindset First podcast, I want to talk about what it means to have confidence and how to really protect yourself and stay the course - no matter what’s happening in your life or business.

One of the biggest challenges every single one of us has as an entrepreneur is getting more clients. Whether we’re promoting our one-on-one services or a group program, we need something that’s going to work - over and over again. I think why business owners struggle so much is that we try to use methods that others promote, but we don’t really know how to adapt it for ourselves or our audience. So, we end up having lackluster results - and then think what’s wrong with us. This happens so often, especially in the area of cold-pitching or simply pitching clients. Which is why I wanted to tackle the subject of pitching clients (and even yourself) again and talk with my friend Laura Lopuch (who is a cold email and pitch expert) about why we need to focus on our mindset and BE the problem solver instead of the sales person in each one of our new contacts. This is an important episode for you if you want more clients, want to get on stage or really just be more visible in your business.

Let’s be honest - most service providers hate having to work on their own marketing because the truth is that they’d rather be doing their craft - whether that’s a coach who would rather be guiding her clients, a lawyer who wants to work on her next case, even a marketer who wants to help others become more visible, marketing can feel like work.

Especially if the tactics aren’t aligned with how you’re showing up as a service provider. In fact old marketing tactics focused on fear and scarcity and manipulation. And for many that doesn’t feel good. Which is why when I heard what copywriter and consultant and launch master Ry Schwartz was up to with ethical launch strategies, I had to have him on to talk about it. I’m a huge fan of what he’s up to because it’s really all about connection, integrity and using your strengths to sell.

This is a powerful episode for anyone who is looking to market your business a way that feels more aligned with who you are and want to be.

On today's episode, I geek out on a topic I could spend hours talking about. How do you read your prospective clients to improve your sales? So let me be super clear. This isn't about manipulating or trying to control people. This episode is about how you can better understand what your clients are really looking for instead of applying a bunch of sales tactics you've read in a book that might actually be turning off your prospective customers.

Look, sales is really about engaging in a conversation and seeing if what you have to offer is right for the person you're trying to sell to. And all too often, it can be hard to even get to that spot because we have so many things that are getting in the way of having a real conversation.

This episode is all about learning how to read your prospective customers in a new way that allows you to better listen and adapt to what's really happening in that sales conversation.

As a continuing series focused on improving our ability to sell as a service provider, I invited my friend and colleague Kathe Crawford to today’s podcast because she has such an ease around sales that I find infectious. Kathe is a business & sales strategist, master life coach and author who helps entrepreneurs, service providers, business owners identify the gaps and opportunities needed to increase sales, create clients and increase revenue.

One of my favorite things about this episode is that Kathe talks about some simple, yet often skipped over ways of attracting clients and tapping into forgotten resources that can help you generate business quickly. Instead of always focusing on a business built on tech and platforms, Kathe talks about how we can focus on the relationships and networks we already have to build our business - which can feel like a relief to anyone who has really struggled with building a business according to online marketing plans.

We talk a lot about how we can quiet the noise and really tap into selling in a way that feels more comfortable and confident. I’m excited to share Kathe as part of my ongoing Mindset First Podcast sales series.

I feel like I could talk about sales and the mindset of sales on every single episode and still never cover the topic fully. So on today's episode of the podcast, I invited sales coach, Leah Neaderthal to talk to me about how to get over some of that shyness and that yuck that we feel about sales. Because the truth is that when it comes down to it, we can feel strong about what we do and then suddenly become timid the moment we have to talk about it or ask people to buy from us.

Leah is amazing at using LinkedIn and other techniques to help B2B consulting and coaching businesses get paid. What I love about Leah, and in this episode, is she takes this really holistic approach to sales and helps you think about how to overcome some of those things that we think about sales or how we show up ourselves around sales.

Both of us come from this background where we didn't feel good about sales or didn't trust that we were good at this. And Leah will tell you, she read 65 books and has created this process that just helps people feel comfortable. And even though we don't always agree on whether you're going to love selling in the end, the truth is you can get good at it.

Leah is the first in my series of interviews this month about how to improve your sales and perhaps to think about sales differently. I'm excited for you to tune in and hear what she has to say.

As service owners our job is to anticipate the needs of others and even help people find their own path to growing their business - but that doesn’t mean that we’re always consciously in charge of the growth of our business in a way that makes sense.

This episode is for anyone who KNOWS they have mindset traps that are holding them back, but aren’t sure of all the ways their mindset keeps leading them back to self-sabotage and unhealthy patterns when it comes to growing a business. Do you find marketing your business excruciatingly difficult because you don't feel like you have the confidence to sell yourself or even talk about your business? Let alone ask for the money to be paid what you're worth?

On today's episode of the Mindset First Podcast, I dive into a deep conversation with Brook McCarthy about confidence and how to really find the confidence you need to put yourself out into the world. Brook is the owner of Hustle and Heart, and she focuses on people-centric marketing, helping you tap into your creativity, your empathy, and making your business marketing far more valuable and powerfully relevant to the people that you serve.

So this week I’m celebrating. It’s almost hard to believe but Mindset First is a year old. I’ve completed 52 episodes and we are heading into year two. But before we do, I wanted to talk about the importance of celebration in your business. You may be tempted to skip over this episode because celebrating almost seems obvious. But, this week I explore how we skip over celebrating and why it’s actually a hugely important part of growing your business to the next level.

Join me for this important celebration this week because I’m throwing us all a party.

Have you noticed how there continues to be this growing backlash against bro marketing and what I call glam girl marketing? Where the norm is to charge a premium and show off everything you've got. While only allegedly working 20 hours a week.

And part of that backlash has led to this movement toward ethical launching. Toward a conversation of gift economy, toward being super generous. And this concept of gift economy is allowing people to charge what they think you're worth and what they can afford. But is this a convenient way to sidestep your own discomfort with selling or owning your own worth?

On this episode, I take a deeper dive into some of the blocks that keep us from standing in our own worth, while striking a balance with your values of wanting to be generous, helping others, and sharing your services in the world. Look the line isn't always clear, but this episode is really designed to help you see where that line might be for you and allow you to see where you might be really just hiding behind desires to be liked. Being seen as good or generous, and maybe where you avoid being seen as greedy even.

So if you've been grappling with this and how do you stop yourself from feeling anxiety or being driven by two agendas: one being generous and one charging your worth. This episode can give you more clarity around where that line is for you.

Oh my gosh, this episode. I am so excited to share with you this interview with Kristen Edwards. Because this is going to give you a new window into how to truly use the Enneagram to power your business.

Now, I know it feels almost trendy to know your Enneagram and how it impacts your life. But the truth is is that the Enneagram is more than a personality quiz. It can actually give you a lot of insight about yourself, how to grow your business, how to build a team, how to communicate better, and truly how to look at the different aspects of yourself so you can start to scale your business with greater ease.

So this week on the Mindset First Podcast, I do sit down with Kristen Edwards and talk to her about understanding your Enneagram type. And how can it can do anything from helping you design your offers, structure the way you work, build the team that compliments your personal strengths. It's so insightful.

Kirsten Edwards is a leadership consultant and host of the Amplify Ambition Podcast. She believes that knowing more about personality types and working styles is the key to unlock success that will grow both life and business. The thing I really love about this episode is that Kristen and I share this belief that you don't have to do all the things everyone tells you in order to build a highly successful business. And instead it begins with figuring out who you are and what works for you that will ultimately lead you to being super successful.

This is an episode that I hope you listen to over and over again and share with your friends. So let's dive in.

On today's podcast, I sit down with a certified health coach, a Barbie Boules, and we talk about what it really means to move into the next chapter of your life with strength, confidence, clarity, and true authenticity.

One of the cool things about Barbie is, is that she dared to find a niche in the wellness space that nobody wants to talk about. She works with women who are in that perimenopause space, and she talks about what it really took to actually do something that everybody told her "wasn't sexy".

We often get stuck in this place of fear and unsure of what comes next. And sitting down and talking to Barbie is really a reminder of how do we follow our passions and how do we really become a master of what comes next? Barbie's ability to trust herself, to remain passionate and to help and connect with other women is amazing. Her wisdom about how do you mindfully move forward in your business is super powerful. And not just chase the money.

We both talk a lot about how we spent years really going after low-hanging fruit. Or the things that we thought we should be doing. So Barbie's episode is really powerful if you want to get a little uncomfortable, if you want to learn something about what wellness means in your business, and how do you take that bold step to do what you truly want. You won't want to miss this episode.

I can now think back to all the times in my life where I felt like things were falling apart and see how they were actually falling together. But when I was in the middle of the pain and the change, I couldn't see anything but the pain. Whether it was my divorce, struggles with my kids, overwhelm with my business, losing a client, or just feeling shame. I just wanted to hide and cry. I would always wonder why me and couldn't see the point of what I was going through.

But the truth is is that each of these moments now define how I show up for myself and others. And each moment has taught me that when things are falling apart, there is tremendous room for growth.

I'm now able to see through my pain and can be more grateful. And want to share with you how you too can do that no matter what hurdle you encounter in your life. So let's really dive in and see how we can learn to embrace your breakthrough as growth.

One of the first skills you learn when you're training to be a coach is how to listen better. We all know the importance of listening to our clients and really pausing to hear what they have to say. But most of us really struggle to stay present during conversations with our clients or our audience members.

I can remember when I was training as a coach thinking I'd be an ace at listening because I spent so many years as an attorney listening in court. But boy was I wrong. Listening, I mean real listening, without agenda or predetermination or bias, takes some real skill. Something I still work at years later. And it's something that you can improve on and will help your business grow so tremendously.

So today in the Mindset First Podcast, I sit down with Sara Frandina, who's a conversion copy writer with an insatiable appetite for learning, all of the books, and popcorn. I mean, I've actually seen her dive into popcorn, so I know this is true.

One of her super powers is really translating the thoughts and stories of others into meaningful insights that fuel empathy based marketing and communication for her clients. Today, she sits down with me and we talk about why it's so important to really listen to your customers. It doesn't matter if you're a writer, a coach, or just any other business owner. Listening is truly the key to growing bigger and serving your customers in a better way.

This topic is truly one of my favorites. And Sara does such an incredible job of providing some important insights of what gets in the way and how we can listen better. I really hope you enjoy this episode. So tune in.

Being a business owner often means wearing different hats in your business. One day you’re a marketer, the next day you’re an accountant, and the next day you’re doing administrative work. But there comes a time in every business owner’s life where it doesn’t make sense to continue down the path of doing everything.

In fact, doing everything is often what keeps you from growing your business effectively.  So, you decide you’re going to hire someone - usually you start with a virtual assistant. But you automatically start thinking about cost - and you have NO idea how to really onboard someone or what to give them.

Today on the Mindset First Podcast I sit down with Emily Reagan - who describes herself as a jill-of-all trades when it comes to digital marketing and techie skills. She’s worked as a behind-the-scenes digital media implementer and virtual assistant for a decade for online biz owner clients. She’s a mom of four, Air Force wife, and founder of the Digital Media VA Crash Course, where she teaches women the digital marketing skills to get hired online as a unicorn virtual assistant. She shares all the details you need to know how to hire your unicorn to help you grow.

I often talk about how hard it is to ask for help - especially when we have limiting beliefs around being a burden or bothering people. We hate to ask because we worry that someone might not like us or even be upset. But for some of you, asking is especially hard when you’re the person who people turn to.

There are some added layers of belief that make it hard to ask for help or even know what kind of support you might need - whether it’s for your business or for your personal life. I really wanted to touch on this topic here because this comes up for so many of you who are used to being the person for your clients, your friends or your family - which leaves you unsure how to ask, who to ask or even what to ask.

So, this is an opportunity for you to tap into learning how to get the support you need so you’re not so overwhelmed constantly by the work you have! So, let’s dive in.

What is it like to have a brand where you get to show up wearing track suits and lifting weights? I love having marketers come on here to share how they came up with their personal brand strategy and how you too can learn how to stand out from the crowd.

Per Andreasen markets himself as The World’s Strongest Copywriter and today shares how stepping out of a bland brand helped him crush his mindset and grow his business. He works with clients in the fitness and wellness space and can help them stand out from the crowd by ditching the bland.

Today we sit down for a purposeful conversation about brand and how he really values his mindset work as a way to grow his business.

There comes a time in all of our businesses where we become the problem. We become that cog that slows growth and prevents us from reaching that next level that we so desire. We struggle to get stuff done. We have a hard time delegating. We're involved in every single part of our business and it feels overwhelming.

It's that point where you become the bottleneck. If you're a business owner, chances are that you've experienced yourself being that bottleneck, that thing that slows down your business. And it's not fun. I know personally. I have seen how I get there and how my mindset drives me to believe that I have to be a part of everything in my business. The truth is, that kind of thinking is what slows the growth of your business down.

Today, I sit down with the amazing Karen Sergeant. Karen helps CEOs with operational planning to support six and seven figure launches and businesses. She's the creator of Bottleneck Rx, which helps CEOs remove themselves as the bottleneck in their growing business. And she works back pocket with CEOs on strategy, operational planning, forecasting, and systems.

What I love about Karen most is that she gets that systems alone aren't the solution. And that you have to begin with mindset if you want to kick your business into high gear. I'm excited for you to listen and tune into Karen's wisdom so you can free yourself from being stuck in your own personal bottleneck.

Whether you're just starting out or are in that stage where you have to shake things up in order to grow, one of the hardest things for business owners is to move past the fear of getting started. You worry about making the wrong decisions, failing, being unsure which direction that you have to take, or even being overwhelmed by how much there is to do. So you sit and end up procrastinating, doing nothing or redoing something a hundred times in the name of perfection.

So this week I wanted to tackle a problem I see over and over for entrepreneurs: getting over the inertia that is driven by fear. This is one of those episodes you may not know that you need, but once you listen, you're going to see how important it is if you're trying to move forward and keep bumping into stumbling blocks, or feel the pull of your fears moving you in a different direction.

So I'm excited for you to tune in and let's get started.

Today we’re shifting gears a bit and talking about the importance of nutrition and preventative health as a business owner. I personally have always been careful about what I eat, but with all the built-in stress that comes with being a business owner, I’ve experienced some health issues that come up from sitting too long, dealing with stress and so on.

So, today, I decided to bring in my good friend and personal functional nutritionist and registered dietitian, Meryl Brandwein. Meryl is one of those people who knows more about being healthy as she herself is a cancer survivor who turned to nutrition to heal herself over 20 years ago. She works with people to help them truly understand how food is medicine and create personalized plans to support long-term health. She’s also the expert on genomic nutrition and we talk a little bit about how this gives you a window into what you REALLY should be eating for your body - instead of following fads.

If you’ve been seeing some of the stress pile up or you want to learn more about how nutrition can support your energy levels, help your clarity and more - this episode is crazy informative.

I've mentioned on the podcast before that I am not great at meditation. It's an old story I tell myself, but every single time I pick up the habit, I realize how important it is for me to simply take those few minutes out of my day to get present and connect within.

In part, some of that has to do with finding the right kind of meditation for you. Which is why I wanted to bring someone who I trust and someone who is a business owner, and could talk about the power of meditating and how to weather your business during these tough times.

So today on the podcast, I sit down with my dear friend, Laura Sage. Laura is the CEO and founder of Chill Anywhere, which is designed to help people live less stressed and more mindful lives. Chill Anywhere works with people and businesses to offer mental wellness solutions, including mindfulness, meditation, and yoga classes anytime, anywhere.

I'm lucky to have known Laura since high school. I've also sat on the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation with Laura, founded in honor of her mother. And she's actually the person who set me up on a blind date with my husband.

I'm excited to share with you Laura's perspective on meditation and why she created a meditation app just for business owners. She'll talk about what it meant to grow her business during tough times, how she pivoted, and insight on what it means to look at your entire customer journey.

I loved having this conversation with her so I could share it with you. And if there's any app to look at for meditation, I hope you'll choose Chill. So tune in and learn a little bit more about what this app is all about.

This week on the Mindset First podcast, I wanted to dive into a topic I’ve been thinking about quite a bit. It seems that every time I open my email inbox or hop onto social media I find someone else sharing something that feels either a bit controversial, super intimate or I’ll be honest - a bit of an overshare. And these aren’t people who are sharing from their personal profiles - but their business profiles.

It is certainly stuff that stops you in the middle of your scroll, and can even be something you decide to either applaud or back away from like a car wreck that you don’t want to be a part of, but it got me thinking about how much we should share as business owners. So, this week on the podcast I wanted to explore that topic from the aspect of mindset and some of the things some very wise teachers and mentors taught me. I also share a bit of my thoughts from a business perspective to help guide you in thinking about this for your business.

So, I encourage you to buckle up for this one and listen somewhere you can really tune in without distraction because there’s a lot in this episode!

It’s not often that you get to sit down with one of your business best friends on your podcast, but for me having my dear friend Justin Blackman on has been something I’ve been wanting to do for months.

Justin Blackman has written for more than 419 different people and managed to sound like every one of them. He uses an ultra-specific voice mirroring process called Brand Ventriloquism to analyze and replicate the nuances that make your writing unique, and documents it so you can scale your content without sacrificing authenticity.

He’s created voice guides for industry experts such as Amy Porterfield, Stu McLaren, Bobby Klinck, and Danny Iny.

And he also has a writing workshop called Write More Personality-er, where he shows you 57 fun ways to make your copy a little less Ross and a lot more Joey.

One of the reasons I wanted to have Justin on is that in becoming the voice guy, he had a unique journey that required him to ditch the voices in his head of doubt and confusion so he could actually step into his expertise - voice. In this episode, Justin shares candidly what he did to really own his voice and what you can do too to own yours. This is one of those episodes that will have you thinking differently about how you talk to your audience and how you want to share.

The number one complaint I hear from business owners like you is that you simply don’t have enough time to get stuff done for your own business. It’s like you’re constantly focused on doing everything for everyone else, yet your business is missing some key components. Not to mention all of the other obligations you have for the people who need you in your life.

Just the mere mention of doing stuff for your own business probably sets you into overwhelm. I know because that was me for years. One of the most important changes I made in my own business (and what I teach my clients) is that time is really another excuse for not having what we really want in our business - and until and unless we release ourselves from the shackles of time, we can’t achieve the freedom and success we want.

In this episode I talk a bit about how time really holds us back and how you can start to shift your relationship with time.

We also talk about how you can be more aware of who you represent as you become visible and how to really show up with a more well-rounded perspective. Although many of the people I work with feel like they found their purpose, I often encounter entrepreneurs who just fell into their business. Either by being laid off or not wanting to go back to a certain career or business. You might have found yourself doing what you're doing now because you're good at it. You like it. Maybe you make good money. But is it your purpose?

This is a topic I encounter on a daily basis. And one that I've struggled with personally for years. Especially because I had a mother who found her purpose at the age of six.

So if you're struggling with knowing if what you're doing is what you're supposed to be doing, or if you're waiting for purpose to reveal itself, this episode is for you. It will hopefully help you think a little differently about purpose and how you can uncover yours. This is the Mindset First Podcast.

I’m excited for you to dive into today’s episode because I sit down with Bobby Klinck. Harvard Law Grad turned online entrepreneur who has built a huge following by building connection and adding personality to grow his business.

He’s definitely NOT your typical lawyer - which obviously as a fellow recovering attorney, I love. He doesn't do suits, he hates legalese as much as I do, and he gets the importance of creating your own playbook when it comes to being a successful entrepreneur.

He's built a thriving online business by doing things a bit differently than other people... making the legal and business stuff simple with a focus on building real connections with real people instead of thinking of people as potential transactions.

Today we sit down and talk about the importance of giving in your business and not being scared to do things your own way. Throwing out the rulebook helped Bobby skyrocket his business success - and he shares how you can do that too by creating connections, not transactions. This is a super fun episode where we dive into topics such as creating your own x factor and how giving - even in such a large group hosted by Amy Porterfield -helped him really stand out. I promise you’ll love this episode - there are so many good takeaways for your own business.

Online courses are a dime a dozen. It seems that every single person has a digital course. Whether you’re a marketer, copywriter, nutritionist, finance expert or fitness trainer - everyone has jumped into the online digital course market.

And while the industry was booming before COVID, the truth is that the pandemic drove even more entrepreneurs into the space. And while that might be good news for business, the completion rate for most courses is terrible. In fact, the completion rate for most online courses is only about 8 percent. Which means that if you’re building a course as you’re listening - chances are that the people you want to reach aren’t going to finish your program. And that’s bad news for you because if they can’t complete their program, the chances of them ever buying from you again diminishes.

So, what do you do? Today, I’m going to share with you a new way to think about your course creation and how understanding mindset can improve your ability to get your students across the finish line.

Ever wonder how I came up with the name for my personal framework and my podcast - Mindset First? Well today I’m going to share how I was able to land on a clear and captivating message and how you can today. About a year and a half ago I was in a Mastermind that gifted us the book The Three Word Rebellion by Michelle Mazur. This is a book I fell in love with because rather than simply come up with a title for a book or a concept - Michelle tapped into something I was trying to do and that was - create a movement and shake things up.

Michelle combines tools of successful social movements with the qualitative research skills she earned in her Communication Ph.D. to help business owners create a powerful, captivating message so they can connect and make more money. Today I sit down with Michelle to talk about her great book and the 3 Word Rebellion (and yes, your 3 word rebellion can be two words like mine). If you’re looking for a battle cry, I invite you to tune in and break open something new in your own messaging.

Today on the podcast, I have the pleasure of interviewing Bree Weber. Bree is somebody that I've been able to watch transform using the Mindset First approach in the way she has grown her business. Bree talks about how her framework is different from everyone else's and how you too can apply her framework to building your business using cold pitching.

On today’s episode of the Mindset First Podcast, I dive into one of the most important pillars of scaling your business that we all tend to avoid in some way or another - even if we think we’re good at it - and that’s visibility. There is some aspect of visibility that gives us all fear. That goes for you if you’re an introvert AND that goes for you if you think you’re outgoing and have this thing completely nailed.

But visibility is super important - I actually believe it’s the first key element to scaling your business.

So I take a deeper dive and talk about the fears we all have around visibility, why it’s important to conquer those fears and how you can actually take some steps forward when it comes to being more visible to the people who matter for your personal business growth. I’m excited to talk about this topic because the truth is that if we can’t be seen, we can’t make the impact we want. So, if you’ve been stalling around being visible in a real and meaningful way, I invite you to listen and hear how you can start to conquer the fear around visibility and move forward. And even if you think you’ve mastered it, find out some sneaky ways fear may still be holding you back.

On today’s episode of the Mindset First Podcast, I sit down with Molly Vaile for an enlightening conversation about how mentorship can boost your growth. Molly has a unique background where she’s worked for over twenty years at the intersection of marketing, strategy and operations, incubating new ideas to drive growth at startups, middle-market and Fortune 500 companies alike.

She’s spent time working for the Olympics, companies like JP Morgan and now owns her own business helping CEOs realize their vision and each step of the way, Molly has leaned on mentors to help her expand - both personally and in her business. What fascinated me about this conversation is how we always think about mentorship perhaps as something good for our business - we don’t realize that it doesn’t have to be a single person and that it can expand even into your personal life.

Molly shares how to think about getting your own mentor, breaking through your mindset concerns and how you can even get started if you’re thinking about mentoring others. I love this as an idea about how to grow and scale your business that is a little different than what you might have imagined! I’m excited to share this thoughtful conversation with you!

This week on the Mindset First podcast, I'm doing something a little bit different. Sometimes it's hard to believe that you can make the changes that you need to grow your business. There's so much that's getting in the way every day. There's client work, family demands, all of the things that keep you from growing your own business.

I decided this week to bring you a few of the success stories from some of my students who have taken my Scale for Success program. These three amazing women talk about what their business was like before. And I promise, you're going to find some similarities with what's happening in your business now. I sat down and interviewed them to hear a little bit about how every day, people can change their business and make a bigger impact on the world.

Today on the podcast, I have an important question that I want to ask you. Whose playbook are you following to grow your business? Are you following a path the experts carved out for you? Or perhaps do you feel a little like me in the early days?

Just winging it and following what feels good, but not really creating any momentum. One of the things I learned about scaling is that many of us feel stuck and don't create the momentum we want because we're so busy trying to follow a conscious or subconscious or even unconscious playbook that was handed to us that we think we need to follow. The truth is, from the time that we were young, we were told that there's a certain way to do things, that there's always some authority to follow. And unfortunately, many of us are still busy building our business to mirror what we think we should be doing rather than checking in with ourselves.

So in this episode, I tackle what it means to follow a pre-written playbook and how you can break through it to better scale your business and build momentum while following something that feels right for you. Tune in.

Today on the podcast, I sit down for an incredibly open and honest conversation with Natalie Bullock Brown. I personally have had the privilege of knowing Natalie since high school. Natalie has always been one of those people who lights up every room she's in. Her smile radiates, and she has a huge, huge, compassionate heart for others.

She's also incredibly passionate about finding equality in the world and in particular, as a documentary filmmaker of color, she's interested in having the story of Black people told from the perspective of those who have lived it. Natalie is an award winning, Emmy nominated producer, and a Teaching Assistant Professor in Interdisciplinary Studies at North Carolina State University. Which is why when I thought about the importance of having a conversation about how we as business owners can start to think differently about diversity and embrace Black Lives Matter in an honest and genuine way, there was no question in my mind who I wanted to have this conversation with.

2020 has shown us so much civil unrest and 2021 still calls for us to change in profound ways. Natalie sits down with me for an honest conversation and shares some great insights how we as business owners, as community leaders, as members can truly shift the way we think, act, and live.

I'm hoping this is the first of many conversations with Natalie. She's an incredibly powerful figure because she's so willing to share her honest truth. So carve out some time, this is a bit of a longer episode, and I hope that it calls you to some action today.

Here's the thing: selling for most of us, isn't something we can avoid in our business. And in fact, I can't tell you how many people come to me, even after years in business, telling me that it's their least favorite part of their business. I'll be honest, once upon a time that was me. I swore that I was never going to get good at selling, let alone be great.

Turns out that I just didn't really get that selling isn't a bad thing. And in fact, it can be a way that you are of service to others. So today on the Mindset First Podcast, I'm going to dive in and help you understand how you too can get over some of the beliefs that you have about selling and really get great at it.

When it comes to speaking, I find that most people “find their way” into it. It’s not necessarily at the top of most of our list because it exposes so many of our fears and it’s just not necessarily something we’re taught - oh hey Johnny, are you going to grow up to be a speaker one day? Um . . . you mean do I want to get on stage and feel like I’m being looked at and maybe judged just to get some message across?

The truth is that most people after learning that speaking means getting up on stage and having any number of eyes on you find it a little scary - even those of us who actually enjoy it get nervous. Actually, I used have to take beta blockers when I first started speaking. But the truth is that speaking can be a very powerful form of marketing for your business. I personally know that I have generated business from over 80% of my speaking appearances. So, I wanted to bring on a guest who really understands the power of speaking as a form of marketing and how to leverage it to scale your business.

Laurie-Ann Murabito, Business Coach & Speaking Strategist, is a reformed painfully shy gal turned professional speaker. Leaving her successful corporate healthcare job with no business plan but a desire to help more people using her talents and skills, Laurie accidentally gave her first speech, attracted clients and quickly replaced her corporate income, which paved the way to speaking and coaching. Today she works with entrepreneurs to grow their businesses using the best form of marketing speaking by leveraging live and virtual platforms to get visible, attract clients and monetize their intellectual property.

How do you use those qualities in yourself that you judge, or that maybe have been painful in your life, and turn them around to be an asset for your business? How do you take the stories from the past and use them to build something powerful that helps other people?

Today on Mindset First, I sit down with Reese Spykerman. Reese helps Ecommerce businesses increase their website sales through design and copy conversion strategies. But the importance of this episode is truly about how you shift some of those things that you're telling yourself every single day and change them into something that helps you grow? That makes you feel whole, that helps you do something so much bigger in the world. Reese's honesty and her willingness to share her story are powerful and beautiful.

I'm excited to share this episode with you. And would love to hear where are you still struggling? Where can you use some support to shift your personal stories? So tune in and let me know what you think.

Today I sit down with an award-winning email copywriter and businesswoman, Brenna McGowan. Brenna shares her personal story of building her business in her 40s and facing all the stories she told herself about how she couldn’t do what she set out to do and built a business where she helps clients tell everyday stories that fill up their own program.

Going from a stay-at-home mom who just wanted to make an extra 500 bucks two years ago to a booked up, in-demand copywriter working alongside some of the biggest names in the space - she faced all kinds of stories that she was too old, that she had nothing unique to offer and that she wasn’t worthy of success. So many of us tell ourselves similar stories and it can hold us back.

We talk about how mindset has supported her in getting to the next level and how when she gave herself permission to do the thing, she was able to move forward.

No one likes dealing with disappointments. In fact, most of us will do almost anything to avoid disappointment. We hate the idea of what our disappointments might say about who we are and what we do. We'll avoid things that help us grow our business, like being visible or connecting with people that might help us grow our business. The truth is, the reason we do is we're so afraid that maybe someone is going to see past who we say we are.

But the truth is, is that disappointments in business and in life are inevitable. They actually happen every single day. And the more we can learn to embrace our disappointments as a natural part of our business growth and future, the better we're able to rebound and move forward in ways that might be even better than what we thought possible.

Today on the Mindset First Podcast, I share my mindset first approach to disappointment. Instead of sitting and feeling defeated, using this framework will help you get out of the spiral of negative self-talk, pain, and sadness that is often accompanied by the experience of disappointment.

Today’s guest describes herself as a heavily tattooed, colorful (in language and in skin coverings) rocker-turned-marketer with a specialty in direct response marketing.

In the last decade Angie Colee’s work has made over $30 million in sales. She’s worked with and written for some pretty big businesses and names – including Lowe’s, Masterclass, Kevin Rogers (founder of Copy Chief), and Jeff Walker (creator of Product Launch Formula). She’s also in the middle of a bit of a pivot with a platform she calls Permission to Kick Ass which focuses on showing freelancers how to really thrive instead of getting stuck in a soul-sucking routine. We spend a lot of time talking about the ways we give away our power and what you can do to reclaim it and I’ll be honest - Angie’s vulnerability during this episode blew me away. Toward the end of our conversation she shares about some personal experiences she’s going through right now and how she’s managed to stay in the discomfort so she can truly live her truth. You’ll want to listen.

Nothing trips up business owners more than money, which is why when I was introduced to Christine Luken, who calls herself the financial lifeguard, I was intrigued. Christine's focus is helping clients ditch their cycle of shame around their finances and help them make peace with money. Like so many others, Christine herself had a lot of money shame when she was young, because as an accountant, she was supposed to have it together.

But when she hit rock bottom, having debt upon debt, instead of focusing on spreadsheets and budgets, she started to look at creating financial literacy and looking at her relationship with money.

Today's conversation is an important one because we talk about the patterns so many of us fall into when it comes to money, but we don't know how to move past them. This is one of the areas that we all struggle with so much in our life and in our business. Christine's approach, which goes beyond budget looks really at what's happening below the surface so that you can overcome your money struggles.

This is going to be a good one, and I hope you enjoy every piece of information she shares.

This week is Thanksgiving here in the United States and I wanted to talk about a topic that you hear a lot about during this time of the year and show you how you can use it to grow your business. So, the truth is, there's tons of talk now and in the holidays about gratitude. And you probably already know how gratitude can help you have a more positive outlook and improve your personal life.

But did you know that gratitude can really help you get past some of the worst head trash and even tap into some of the better strategies that you need to grow your business? The truth is gratitude is actually not in our nature. We tend to be tied up in all of those primal fears, remain on guard and focus deeply on the most negative things that happen in our life and in our business.

It's a lens that we've gotten to be used to, but what if you could retrain your brain? What if you could retrain the pathways that go dark and instead tap into a wealth of gratitude to help you grow. So, this episode of the Mindset First podcast focuses on real and practical ways gratitude can help you grow.

This is not about sugar coating or thinking positively about things because as we all know, positive thinking has its limitations. This is a practice you can adopt and really, what better time to start to think about it?  When the world leaves us in a state of "what's next" every day, gratitude is there to support you.

So, I hope you tune in, let go of all of the rush this week and let's see how gratitude can be good for your business.

On today's episode, I sit down with marketing buff and proud Irishman, Ross O'Lochlainn. Ross is called the Conversion Engineer because as a former mechanical engineer, he has a certain knack for understanding how things work beneath the surface.

Ross helps online businesses and course creators, take their sales campaigns and have them perform at a higher level than they've come to expect. But he does this in a hype-free way that attracts quality students and helps you ditch the launch mentality through a process he calls Open Every Day. I'm actually a student of Ross's and his methodology has done so much to shift the way I deliver information and how I serve my audience. I'm a huge believer in his work. And I'm excited to share our conversation with you.

We talk all about the process of selling and how the launch mindset actually leaves both you and the customer depleted. It's a great conversation, especially if you're a course provider who has sold your courses using the launch model. And you're really sick of doing it that way. This is going to change the way you think about how you approach your audience and so much more. I can't wait for you to dive in and let me know what you think.

I don't know if it's just me, but there seems to be a lot of talk about burnout these days. Not just business owners, but everybody feeling exhausted, unable to focus and stressed to the point where they're feeling like that focus is just something they can't reach. And while burnout can hit at any point, right now, where we are in the world and all of us feeling so tentative, burnout is a natural consequence of being in this constant high state of alert.

So on today's episode, I wanted to take a deep dive into this really important topic to go into some of the reasons we experience burnout and how we're actually conditioned to just sort of get to that spot of constantly dealing with stress. So I wanted to explore this topic. It's something I have been thinking about for a long time, something I've been reading about, and I'm going to share some great resources today. And we're going to talk about ways to better deal with the exhausting stress in your life.

Let's get this conversation started.

Are you putting yourself out into the world and building your authority? Today's guest is a copywriter and launch strategist who has been a part of my membership and my mindset programs. She recognized that she was busy getting others' messages out into the world, but not her own. After spending over $10,000 on programs that still didn't get her out there and building her authority, Patti decided to create the Authority Project as a way to say yes to every authority building project and see what would happen for her business.

My guest Patti Haus shares what happened with this experiment and also gives some tips on how you can get started and see big results in your business. So let's get started.

I'm so excited about today's episode because today's topic is so important for every single business owner. And it's one of those things that we dread so much because it leaves us feeling so exposed and so vulnerable. Networking, or as my guest today shares, building personal relationships can be critical whether you're looking for clients, building a referral network, or just trying to get the word out on your business.

On today's episode speaker, networking, expert, business strategist, author of This Shit Works: A No-Nonsense Guide to Networking Your Way to More Friends, More Adventures, and More Success, Julie Brown and I take a deep dive into why networking is so important and how you can make it work for you.

Julie has over 20 years of networking experience and she even calls herself the networking unicorn, which I love. This episode is going to make you think differently about building your network, how easy follow-up can really be and what you can do now, even in the middle of COVID, to expand your network. This is an important episode so even if you think you're pretty good at this networking stuff, tune in.

Imposter complex can feel like it comes out of nowhere. You can be plugging along in your business, serving your customers, and then you get this call from a prospective client and it starts to bubble up from inside you.

You hear the tape begin to play in your head, a deep insecure tape that tells you that you have no idea what you're doing and that the person on the other end knows it. You stumble over your words. You feel yourself starting to over-promise because you feel like if you don't, they'll see right through you and realize that no matter what the person who referred them told them, you're a fake.

Even if you're able to survive that first call, you start to doubt everything. You pull together your proposal and you start to wonder, can I even do this work? And then when the client actually signs the contract, you go into a panic. Because you have to follow through with the project. You start to second guess everything you do. And wait, wait for the moment that they find out that you're really not good enough.

That, my friend, is how imposter complex works. And today, we're going to talk about how you can start to move past imposter complex and really own your worth.

In this episode I wanted to dive into a topic that I think is impacting so many of us - as business owners and individuals. And it’s one we may dismiss as oh - it’s the times, we’ll move through this, but it’s one that can lead to deeper feelings so, I wanted to bring it up here... now. And that is disconnection.

More and more of my clients are sharing with me that they’re feeling disconnected - and not just from others, but themselves. They’re feeling like they can’t really tap into a part of themselves that is essential for growing as a person and as a business.

So, this week I wanted to take a deeper dive and really talk about what’s behind this feeling and what you can do to tap into deeper connection with yourself once again.

Today's episode is going to shake up so much for you when it comes to what you think it takes to build success. I first met Eman Zabi in a mastermind probably three years ago now. Eman's story today is one that demonstrates that you don't have to follow a traditional route to build the business of your dreams.

But what you do need is vision or rather a domination plan.

Eman is the founder of The Scribesmith, a launch copywriting agency that specializes in research based strategy and conversion copy for digital products. As a part of The Scribesmith's umbrella she created the conversion kits, brainstorming decks to help entrepreneurs raise conversion rates, and Terrain - a course marketplace that hosts and markets high quality courses for entrepreneurs, allowing course creators to focus on what they do best. Share their expertise while Terrain handles the rest.

In today's conversation we talk about how she got started in her business, why she needed a domination plan, and how it's helped anchor her business as she's built this marketing agency. We'll also talk about the fact that you don't have to work every mindset piece in order to scale your business and grow. Eman is a truly humble person and I really hope that you get the chance to know her, follow her work and enjoy this episode.
