How to write a GREAT LinkedIn Profile in 2021 - step by step. What do you include in your LinkedIn profile?  How can you write a LinkedIn profile you can be proud of?  This tutorial will walk you step by step through the whole LinkedIn Profile with examples. To get one to one help, visit https://www.louisebrogan.com/workwithme 🤓 Your headshot Your profile photograph should be a clean and clear picture of you head and shoulders. Looking at the camera, preferably smiling, and looking approachable so that people will want to connect with you and reach out. ☘️ Your Cover background image The second photograph you have on your profile is your background image or cover photo. This is a really important place on LinkedIn. It could be a photograph of your workplace. If you provide a service or sell a product, your product could be in here. If you are a podcaster you could have your podcast art here. 👩🏾‍💻 Headline Check your headline, so make sure your headline is attractive to the people that you want to work with. Does it tell people what you do and who you do it for? 📲 Service Page Next, if you provide a service on LinkedIn, make sure you have your service page created on your profile. It literally is like a little company page post but for service providers. This tells you a little bit about the person and up to 10 services that they provide. ☎️ Contact Information Next is your contact info button. You can add in your phone number your email and your websites. You can add in multiple websites. You can have a link in here to your podcast website, for example, and your Twitter handle if you have one and your birthday. ⭐️ Featured Section This is your area where you get to highlight your products services, your key things you want people to know about you. You could have a link to a free download page on your website or link to your newsletter. 🤔 About Section Once people have clicked on your your name, your headline, they're scrolling down through your profile to see more about you and the About Section is a real opportunity to win those people over. This section is about your customers and your clients, what they're struggling with, and how you can help them. You want to make sure you've included in here what problems that your customers have that you help them with, how you can help them what services you provide or what products you have. Always end with a request to connect with you, whether it's to connect on LinkedIn, follow your LinkedIn, you send somebody to your website, your email address. 📌 Experience Section I would like you to have a look at your experience section and make sure it's up to date. For all of the roles you've done in the past, focus heavily on the experience that relates to what it is that you do now. 📚 Education If you went to university add in the universities. When you do this, and you add in your university, make sure in the drop down box, you select the actual university so that the university logo appears in your experience section, and also up on the introductory card and up at the top of your profile. Then you've got licences and certifications, add in any that you have. If you have been a volunteer, add that as every little helps on your profile 💪🏼 Skills and Endorsements Check your skills and endorsements section, run through all the skills you have listed, make sure they are skills that you use now, not in the past, and and your network will start to endorse you for your skills. ✅ Recommendations. Try and get into the habit of asking customers, clients, people you've worked in teams with, for recommendation of your products and services. 🏆 Accomplishments Add in Honours and awards, Courses that you have done, Any publications, Any languages that you speak Any organisations that you are a member of. 👟🤓 🎯Interests Section People can see: - the companies and influencers that you follow. - groups that you are a member of. So be aware of that and go and check and what's actually showing in your interest section. This will help you to get your profile up to date. So let's get you a profile you can be proud of, so you can start really raising your visibility on LinkedIn.  Download your free guide to using LinkedIn https://www.louisebrogan.com/download  https://www.louisebrogan.com/workwithmeÂ

There is something truly inspiring about hearing how people I’ve worked with have got on afterwards. So, in this week’s podcast I wanted to share some of these success stories with you all, as it’s a wonderful opportunity to hear how even small changes can make a real, measurable difference. In this episode I will tell you about two women who I have worked with that have both had unbelievable success as a direct result of raising their profiles on LinkedIn.    The first is a client of mine who’s based in the Maldives. wanted to use my profile review service to improve her visibility to her target audience. It was all the more important too given the devastation of the pandemic on the tourist industry. As a result of my session with her, she got back in touch recently to tell me about some money-can’t-buy coverage that she received from a global publisher. Thrilled is an understatement! My second story is one of my ‘done for you’ clients where my team write the LinkedIn posts for you. We posted a good news story on the Friday, and by the following Monday it had more than 10,000 views and many many comments. But success is not just about coverage, views or comments – it’s also about the real-life business impact. So, I’ve also got a great example of how one client’s work with me led directly to two, yes TWO, five-figure new business contracts. If you’d like help with your LinkedIn strategy and for me to create this kind of success for your business, then please get in touch and I will get straight back to you.  www.louisebrogan.com/workwithme Thank you for listening, don’t forget to leave a review and tell me what you think.

When someone is looking for a coach or consultant to help them with a particular issue, they tend to go with someone they trust.  In online business, you will hear people talk about ‘know, like and trust’ factor.  How do you become known?  And more importantly, how can you build up the trust that leads to someone investing in your products or services? In today's podcast, I talk about five steps to help you build your authority online.   1.  Specialise What is your area of expertise? When someone needs a tax accountant, they look for a specialist who focuses on taxes.   When someone is building a physiotherapy business, they will follow a coach who works only with physio businesses.   By choosing your niche – by job type, customer base, age group or location, you will attract your ideal clients more quickly. Choosing your niche allows you to focus on creating content for that niche.   How can you choose what to specialise in? Talk to your customers and listen to their main concerns. Choosing a niche can involve a lot of factors – is there a need for your service?  Will people pay for it? Are you interested in focusing on that area?   2.  Listen to your audience What do your network want to know about?  Consider the questions you get asked time and time again.    What can you help your audience with?  What are their main pain points? One way to become known as an expert online, is by creating regular content that answers the questions your audience have.   Create content that not only leads your ideal client to reach out to you, but consider how you can put out messaging that lets people know who is NOT the right fit to work with you.  For example: Your ideal client may be someone who is in the business start up phase – so your content should help them with the first stages of business.  Reading Suggestions: They Ask, You Answer by Marcus Sheridan Content Fortress by Martin Huntbach and Lyndsay Cambridge   3. Create content to help your audience.  Start sharing content with your network that showcases your knowledge and expertise. Keep it simple – you want to be able to attract your ideal clients and customers so don’t overwhelm them.   4. Become known as a guest expert Consider creating content for other larger organisations.  Become known as a guest expert – choose the publications or shows you know your ideal client is already reading or engaging with.    Podcast Guesting Start with pitching hosts who take guests – try connecting with podcast hosts who serve your ideal client.    Online Summits Submit yourself as a speaker for an online summit.  Once you start to appear as a guest expert on summits and podcasts, other hosts will notice and start to reach out!    5.  Talk to your network Connecting with your audience online is not a one-way street. Rather than broadcasting out to your audience, try to engage with them.  For Example –  In your daily or weekly activity on LinkedIn, take time to comment on posts from others in your network. Try to leave constructive comments – think about how you would behave if you were responding to someone speaking in person. Even if you outsource the content creation for your own posts, we recommend you take the time to interact with others in your newsfeed.   Your LinkedIn Checklist Download your free ten page guide to daily and weekly activity for LinkedIn Click Here   If your audience are on LinkedIn, then you need to create some visibility on this platform that attracts your ideal client to you.  Creating consistent content on LinkedIn that demonstrates your knowledge and expertise will lead to customers and clients reaching out to you to find out more about your services.

In 2020, LinkedIn released a LOT of new features – here are some of the top ones: 1. Add a Featured Section Adding a new ‘Featured’ section to your LinkedIn profile – this section is where you can share your featured highlights including Posts, Articles, Links to external online content and upload photos or documents. How to use the LinkedIn Featured section in your personal profile.   2. Add a Poll Adding a new Polls option to your text posts – one of my favourite new features! I suggest you try this feature out once a month – polling your network is a great way to encourage conversation and debate, plus finding out what your network REALLY think about! How to use LinkedIn Polls   3. Open to Work If you are currently looking for a new role, you can add an option to your personal profile that shows your network you are ‘open to work’ Click on the ‘Open to’ button underneath your headline – then choose Finding a new job as your option. You can choose location, job titles, and whether you want full-time, part-time, temporary or contract work. You can also choose whether to share with only recruiters, or with your whole network. Once you have completed this, a green circle will appear on your profile picture.   4. Reactions on your LinkedIn Posts Before 2020, you would have been able to click to ‘like’ someone's post on LinkedIn. Now we have six reactions available – like, celebrate, love, support, curious and insightful. Remember – if you leave a comment, this will raise your profile and visibility rather than just clicking a reaction. 5. Video Messages Did you know you can send a video message to your connections? On your LinkedIn mobile app, go to messaging, click on the video sign and you can create and send a video message. How to use messaging on LinkedIn (and why you should)

Christopher Melcher is a family attorney in Los Angeles, California. We met when I worked with Chris during the summer of 2020 as he wanted to learn how best to use LinkedIn. Chris's clients include business owners, celebrities, and trust beneficiaries across California who are going through complex divorces. We talk about how Chris uses LinkedIn, not to find clients, but to connect with and build relationships with fellow attorneys. We discussed some of the challenges the lawyers face when it comes to marketing and how this can hold them back from building their network/gaining new clients. Are you getting business through LinkedIn? Do you enjoy using LinkedIn as a marketing tool? IF you answer either of this with anything other than YES, then here are a few tips for you. 5 ways to get your basics right for LinkedIn Is your network on LinkedIn? When you are using social media to build your business, the biggest tip I can give you is to choose ONE platform. Decide where your ideal client spends most time, and start building your profile on that platform. Facebook is great for B2C businesses, Instagram is good for ‘inspirational’ and shopping businesses. Twitter is super for sharing news, events and fast paced networking. LinkedIn is GREAT for B2B. And people go to LinkedIn specifically to connect with their business network. By trying to be on all the platforms, you either exhaust yourself, share the exact same content on all platforms or you build a small presence on each one rather than making a larger impact on the platform that will help you to grow. Why should you not share the same content on each platform? Check out the image above once more – if I am sharing content on FB it needs to fit in with the tone of that platform. I will write longer posts for LinkedIn that don’t make sense on Twitter. Also, when you see someone you follow who puts the exact same content on each platform, it makes you lose a little faith in them (or maybe that’s just me) Have you filled out your LinkedIn Profile? Please complete your LinkedIn Profile. Check out this blog on how to make sure you fill in the whole thing: How to write a great LinkedIn Profile Why does this matter? The statistics on LinkedIn profiles are staggering: When you add a professional photo to your profile you are 14 times more likely to have someone click on your profile Updating your current position leads to 5 times more connection requests. Having at least 5 relevant skills on your profile leads to 31 times more messaging requests. Source – LinkedIn Official Blog Keep access to your LinkedIn Profile You can add in multiple email addresses to your LinkedIn account. One of the most common issues I come across is when someone has more than one LinkedIn account and can’t access one of them. Remember when you started work at that corporate job in your 20s and they made you sign up to LinkedIn? If you used your work email only, its quite likely you aren’t able to log in anymore. Here’s how to avoid this happening. How to add a secondary email address: Go to your account Click on Settings and Privacy Add your personal email address What type of content do you share on LinkedIn? The purpose of using LinkedIn is to raise visibility of your business. So your content should be showcasing your knowledge and expertise! What type of content posts can you create on LinkedIn? How to make sure you see content from the people you want to connect with Be strategic – when you go to LinkedIn and view your newsfeed, make sure you comment on the posts from the people in your network that you want to see content from. The algorithm will keep serving up posts from the connections you have ALREADY engaged with. I also recommend you ‘unfollow’ those in your network that you don’t want to engage with. Follow some of these basic steps and you will see an improvement not just in your LinkedIn newsfeed, but also in the types of connection requests you receive, and the return on time spent on LinkedIn.
