Happy New Year! I hope you all had an amazing holiday season & are ready for your 2023! I’m definitely ready. However, I’ve had past New Years where I start off really slow. Maybe it’s a carry over from the year before. Or maybe I’m just overwhelmed and “feel like doing it later.” Either way, I wanted this year to start off with a little self improvement/motivation. I couldn’t think of a better guest to start the year off with, than Mrs. Lauren Morrison! She’s a career & business performance coach and someone I look up to. So sit back, get your notes ready and let’s kick off the new year right!

Shay’s back! And this week, we go back to our traditional style of doing episodes together, aka the ones you all loved so much! This weeks topic is one that has been weighing heavy in our marriage of the last few years. We recently unpacked it more through therapy and discovered that it was deeper than we thought. So, what do we do? We have an episode on it haha. This is part 1 of 2 and the 2nd part is with a guest who is very familiar with this topic. We bring on Lauren Morrison in Part 2 and you won’t want to miss that one either! But for now, sit back, relax and enjoy the Davis’s air out more personal’s about our marriage haha!

Talk about leading by example! You all know by now, how much I preach Vulnerability is brave & necessary... Well, I am every bit of that word in this episode! I decided to read my latest journal entry for all to hear. If this isn't vulnerable & brave, I give up lol. Why share such personal information? Because I feel like I'm at the point in my life where I've had enough experiences and knowledge to be able to make the necessary choices to receive all that I desire. Sounds easy right? It's anything but that! However, I feel like I finally know why this struggle is so real for me. I've been leading with FEAR instead of Love this entire time! This and so much more in this loaded episode! Thank you for taking the time and holding space for me, as I work through this thing called life.

We're all guilty of it. We all say we shouldn't, but we do. And in today's society, it's getting worse! But we really shouldn't judge a book by the cover. You never know what someone is going through and we need to work on getting to know the person first before passing judgement. This weeks episode is about all of the above plus what it looks, sounds and feels like when we say, "we're doing the work!" And I'm talking about the not-so-pretty part of "the work" by the way. My guest this week is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and I can't wait for you all to watch this amazing conversation! After going through all the comments from the Unconditional Love episode, we decided to come on and go over a few things now that we (really I) had time to process. I realized a lot about myself and about Shay in that episode & I felt like I owed it to her and to you, to come on and take accountability for my actions. Also, after a few weeks of debating on whether or not I should take a break after Season 1, I decided to do just that. I talk about why and what led me to this decision and what's to come for Season 2!
THANK YOU ALL for showing all the love & support during this incredible journey! I'm so grateful & thankful for all that came to fruition, for getting to know and connecting with so many of you & for building this beautiful community! As much as I'm looking forward to some time off, I can't wait to be back with you for Season 2!

Everyone meet my oldest brother, Kolade (or as I know him as Marquise before he changed his name.) I call him the Black Matthew McConaughey because to me, he’s the most interesting man in the world, in the best possible way. We have the same Dad-different Moms and we have completely different upbringings. In fact, we do a lot of things differently. One being, my brother practices Polygony whereas I am Monogamous. He lives in Atlanta, has 4 children & we’re 12 years apart. As much as we are different, he’s been a mentor for me in many ways & come to find out, we're very much alike. I can’t wait for you all to digest this incredible episode. I’ve had my brother in mind for a conversation for a while now, so I’m happy it’s all come together. The very first edition of a new segment added to the show! In this series, I talk one on one with people from the Who Can Relate? community! The audience gets to talk about whatever they'd like for 30 + min. In this weeks episode, I talk to two women who have very relatable stories.
Caller # 1: Celeste started from the bottom and made it out of some of the worst situations! Homeless in the streets of Compton at the age of 14 years old, dealt with health issues that lead to over 50 blood transfusions, went to India to find herself, then got pregnant and is now thriving in life. Wow, what a resume!
Caller #2: Ella realizes that she no longer wants to be worrying about whether or not she’s enough, likable or interesting to a man while dating. She’s been more concerned about whether or not she’s the right fit for them, rather than if that person is the right fit for HER. We identify where this could be stemming from and how to work on applying some solutions. A revelation occurs to say the least!
If you're listening to this episode on Apple Podcast, let me know your thoughts on this new show segment in a review below! While you’re there, it would be AMAZING and mean the world to me, if you would leave a rating too!

If you haven’t listen to Pt. 1 of this, I highly suggest you do that first before listening to this episode haha. A lot of things won’t make sense without the original context. Continued from Pt. 1, How many of us have childhood trauma that still needs healing with & from our parents? Well this weeks episode, is just that! It’s all about healing and understanding from my Mom. We sat down and had an open & honest conversation about her upbringing, which led to my upbringing and everything in between! Tears were shed, voices were heard and the healing was present. I hope you all enjoy this vulnerable-raw conversation, that I’ve been wanting to have for years.

When all else fails, bet on yourself! A motto that Danielle Robay lives by. What does the modern day entrepreneurial woman look like these days? Well, Elena Hansen is the epitome of just that. She’s the creator and founder of SWIM Social, a social media agency based in LA with a global reach. She started the company at the age of 26, and was ahead of her time. Another fun fact about the agency, all of the employees are women! Elena is at the top of her game when it comes to being CEO, but she’s learned the hard way, in order to run a successful business, you have to be on top of your game internally too. As they say, "you can’t pour from an empty cup" right? We go over some of the following topics: Healthy sacrifices, going from surviving to thriving, redefining the word “Success” and how we wish we started sooner with what we know now. This one was so much fun to be a part of. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Mental health and suicide conversations are some of the most difficult ones to have. I’ve been very careful in thinking about how to have an episode on them & who to have on as a guest. Sam Webb has been an advocate for both Mental Health and Suicide Prevention ever since he lost his best friend to suicide in 2018. He co-founded a foundation called “LIVIN” and has been very outspoken on several platforms to help bring awareness to these tough conversations. They are necessary, essential & can possibly save lives. As you’ll hear in our episode, it’s no longer acceptable to take an “I’m fine” response from a friend or family member, when asking how they’re doing. We need to dive deeper and provide help in any kind of way. This episode is very touching, powerful & hopefully helpful to those who need to hear it. Thank you for taking the time to listen and PLEASE share this with anyone who may be in need.

It’s raw, intimate, personal and I know you guys will be able to relate to so much of what was discussed in this episode. We talk about the importance of choosing yourself and your happiness 1st and foremost. In order to obtain the love that we desire & deserve, we need to love ourselves first! In this weeks episode, Don and I talk all things why Men… cheat? Struggle with vulnerability? Lack self-awareness? Deserve a 2nd chance? And plenty more! My goal is to bring awareness to all of the above for Men and try to lead by example. In this weeks episode, Duke and I sit down and talk about what it is to be vulnerable as a man. What that looks like, feels like and how much it's benefited our relationships. As Men, we’re taught to never show our emotions or express our feelings. Because of this, often times, our feelings and emotions turn into ego & anger, instead of simply saying, “I’m hurt” or “I’m sad.” The goal in this episode, is to show Men that vulnerability is a path to victory, not weakness. That it’s essential in order to have a successful relationship. It's a new day for the renaissance man and Duke & I are here to lead the movement!
What are your thoughts on this episode? Was this surprising or enlightening in any way? Men- have you had similar experiences? Women- were any of your questions about Men answered here?
