I was just talking with a client who is a self-proclaimed "doer". She knows that her ability to get things done is what got her promoted to VP and yet that same formula doesn't seem to be working for her in her new role.
She has two things she wants to work on: patience and delegation. She does well at times and then reverts to her old ways and takes work back so she can get it done right and get it done on time. Sound familiar?
In this episode of #evolvetowin, I am going to share a story to help you understand why we have the tendency to go back to what's comfortable and what to do about it.
I was working with a client last week who had to give a really important business presentation. This particular client struggles with being concise because she has so much that she wants to share. This time she effectively used time blocking and set aside completely focused time to prepare. Huge win!
The preparation was great, but it was the debrief of her presentation that will guarantee her continued growth. Why? Because she also set aside focused time following her presentation to gain insight. Most people will never do this in a systematic way. Will you?
In this episode of #evolvetowin, I will share a super simple process that will help you review your presentation to gain helpful insights that you can use going forward.
Since the "safer at home" orders started, do you find yourself struggling to find or maintain focus? It feels like this: you know what to do, but you just cannot get started. If so, I have a super simple strategy that will help you get into action and feel like you are making progress.

Learn what kind of endpoint security is needed on your computer. This is anti-virus software like Symantec or McAfee. I just learned I need to upgrade.
FREE is the new "F" word. Learn why you should avoid all free cloud-based programs - you are agreeing to share your data when you do...

The open door policy started out as a way to build an organization of trust, transparency, and collaboration, but now it's been misconstrued and we've lost that original idea. If you start training people that they can bypass their manager and go to another senior leader without working to solve a problem at the level it should be solved, you're ultimately preventing that manager from building the appropriate trust and relationship -- leading to further challenges. In this episode, we discuss ways you can fix this problem, while still gaining the benefits intended of the open door policy.

Often, we want to resist a breakdown, but this only increases the amount of stress we experience as we are going through a period of change. By looking at breakdowns as a natural part of the growth process and a result of the necessary failure we experience as we take on new challenges, we will be able to power through them and come out on the other side to find a breakthrough.

Specifically, his long out of print book, “Think Your Way to Wealth”, a transcription of Hill’s first meeting and discussion with steel magnate, Andrew Carnegie.
The discussion led to Napoleon Hill’s life work, collecting the experiences of successful people, and parsing that information into principles that could be understood and implemented by others.

When you speak in front of others they’re listening, but are you BEING HEARD? That’s the question that Darren LaCroix asks us in this episode of Mastermind with Heather Christie. From his bold move into stand-up comedy, and the stumbles he had along the way, to his discovery of the world of professional speaking and his ascent to the World Champion of Public Speaking, Darren shares the trials, tribulations and takeaways he’s come through and come away with.
It all starts with the question, ‘what would you do, if you knew you wouldn’t fail?’ Darren answered that for himself, and the unfolding journey that answer has taken him on has brought him to his own purpose, and more success than he could have dreamed of.
Whether you’re a professional speaker yourself, or just responsible for presenting to your clients, organization or corporate team, you’ll gain powerful tools to help polish your next presentation or speech and make sure they’re not just listening, but that you’re HEARD.

In this third entry in the Qualities of Leadership series, Heather focuses on YOU! More accurately, you focus on you, and the concept of the Leadership Lid. Heather illustrates how the quality of an organization’s leaders will inherently limit the growth of the organization itself.
The positive side of that is that your leadership potential is unlimited, and therefore so is the growth of your organization or business. Heather discusses the cause and effect of personal and professional growth and gives you the compass to find your own way to your best self as a leader.

Recap - (10:56)
This episode was recorded live in Orlando as Heather attends Influence 2017, the National Speakers Associations annual conference. In it, Heather shares her top seven strategies for making sure you get the most out of YOUR next conference.
Whether an industry event or something you’re required to attend by your corporate bosses, make sure that it’s more than just travel miles you bring back home with you. Heather even includes her secret note taking tip: Write what the speaker makes you think, not just what the speaker said!
But, we all know conferences are also about networking, as well as seeing friends we may not see again for a year or more. Heather helps you optimize that time as well, by focusing on your objectives!
In this episode, Heather Christie shares her experience and tips for public speaking and presentations, especially for those that are new to it or even fear it. Heather avoided public speaking when possible early in her career, and when necessary she would rely on “winging it,” telling herself and others that she always did better that way. Heather’s fear of public speaking extended even to the preparation.
If you’ve struggled with speaking before, or if you’re anxious to add another advantage in your corporate climb, Heather offers sound, actionable advice to help you take the next step in this episode of Mastermind.
Do you have a purposeful, intentional, specific plan for your marketing? Do you understand the outcome that you’re after?

In all, she has been honored with more than 150 local, state, national and international awards.

Dean Piccirillo is a Principal at HBKS Wealth Advisors and a Senior Financial Advisor and has been practicing for over 25 years. He is also very active in the Southwest Florida community, having recently chaired, along with his wife Monica, the 2015 Signature Chef’s Auction for the March of Dimes, among his many endeavours.
Dean’s education in leadership and sales began when he was quite young. His father was a door-to-door encyclopedia salesman, and Dean would often join him while working. Each new customer provided a learning opportunity for Dean, because his father was keen to teach him about his techniques. Above all, his father’s ability to connect with people really resonated with Dean. Though he considers himself an introvert, Dean realized, through his father and as he grew older, the importance of developing these and other people skills in order to achieve success.
