Nahum part 3. Looking at Nahum's use of the word Vengeance/Avenge found three times in verse 2. Nineveh, despite the mercy God showed them during Jonah's time, has clearly made themselves the adversary of Yahweh.
1 Timothy part 47. Looking at Chapter 4 verse 12. Let no man despise thy youth. Looking at how easy it is to read into a verse what the passage never intended to say. We should never approach a passage of Scripture saying, "How do I see this verse?" Instead we should ask, "What does this verse actually say?"

Nahum Part 2. Looking at the condition of Nineveh some 100 to 150 years AFTER Jonah's ministry to this city.

1 Timothy Part 44. Looking at Paul's use of the Greek "Gymnasium" and what he has to say about Exercise.
Introduction to the book of Nahum, considered a sequel to the book of Jonah. Both Jonah and Nahum were prophets whose messages focused on the capital of Assyria, Nineveh. Both prophets preached judgment on this city.
1 Timothy part 43. Looking at the idea of looking for other people's approval. Is it right, or wrong to look to please others?
1 Timothy part 42. Finishing the section on teachings of demons! Focusing on the attack against God's goodness.
Part 2 of "Without a Broacher" addressing the need to evangelize and AT LEAST make attempts to start conversations about spiritual things. After that, the rest is truly up to God. Sermon is a play on the phrase from Romans 10:14, "How shall they hear without a preacher?" If we're NOT even making attempts to start conversations that could lead into gospel presentations, or at least sowing seeds in hearts, are we really obeying the great commission?
We are all familiar with the Christmas stories as related in the gospels. Did you know that there is a Christmas narrative from the perspective of heaven? This message relates the events of the birth of Jesus, but from the heavenly perspective, as described in Revelation chapter 12.

Thanksgiving message. Learn why today's expectations determine tomorrow's resentments. We live in a culture and age when EVERYTHING in our lives are viewed as entitlements instead of privileges. This perspective robs us of being able to be grateful. In reality, EVERYTHING good in our lives comes from God.

1 Timothy part 36. Looking at 1 Timothy 3:14-15, specifically focussing on how this text communicates God's opinion of the priority of church in the life of all Christians. Are you a part of a local assembly of Christians? Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is."
Jonah part 20. Looking at God's response to Jonahs' anger over what has transpired with his successful preaching.
Jonah part 19. Jonah's response to Nineveh's repentance. The most unusual response a preacher can give when his preaching is totally successful!

1 Timothy Part 26. Looking at the qualifications of a bishop/pastor/elder. Of the entire list of moral/ethical qualities, the quality of being 'able to teach' is the only ministry skill or gift that is articulated in this list.
What is the way, and how does a person follow the way? Jesus is the way (John 14:6-7). To follow the way, we need to abide in Jesus.
Today's text teaches God's sovereign rule over the events of Jonahs' life. God's desire is to accomplish his good purpose in believer's lives despite the selfish efforts we may trying to get our own way!
1 Timothy series part 25. Looking at the qualifications for a pastor in light of the fact that all believers should strife to be more Christlike. The focus today is on the theme of all the qualities focusing on our need to be less selfish, then we focus on the quality of hospitality!
Jonah was bent on NOT seeing God spare the Assyrians from the punishment believed they deserved. So much so, that he refused to be the one to warn them and possibly save them from God's wrath.
Paul's list of qualifications for the office of a bishop/pastor may have been patterned after common lists of his day. These 'job qualification' lists are found often in Scripture. What can we learn about God's lists?
Looking at three important qualifications expected for men in leadership and how they should exemplify men of God.

Does God Love Everyone the Same? follows an article by Jonathan Noyes of Stand to Reason as we look at an overview of the life of Jonah and his response to God's attempt to show mercy on the Assyrian people: A people that deserve judgment.
As one commentator put it, "While the sailors panicked, Jonah slept soundly, oblivious to the perils surrounding him. The prophets smug indifference illustrated Jonah's self righteousness."
"The office of the Christian ministry, rightly understood, is the most honorable, and important, that any man in the whole world can ever sustain; and it will be one of the wonders and employments of eternity to consider the reasons why the wisdom and goodness of God assigned this office to imperfect and guilty man!" Cotton Mather
God doesn't just use a large fish to get Jonah's attention and bring a message of mercy to the Assyrians. He also uses the weather, a boat and a group of pagan sailors.
Israel's sin of Impatience and ingratitude brought judgment on his people, and teaches us a lesson for today. "Grumbling revealed hearts hardened by entitlement and forgetfulness."
What does Paul mean when he speaks of women being "saved in (or through) childbearing?"
How did Jonah's hatred for the Assyrians lead him to flee from the presence of God? Learn how our refusal to "set apart" God in our hearts leads us to unfounded fears and unjust animosity toward others.
Final message on Receiving Criticism. Being able to "dish it out but not being able to take it."
Palm Sunday morning message. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purpose due to ... anything.

Dr. Griffith sets the historical scene from Matthew chapter 16, beginning in verse 13 and ended with 25 -26 - -equating psuche translated life in 25 with psuche translated soul in 26-. Concluding that both terms are ultimately about what we are as human beings and why we exist.
