After the interview, David sent some additional information that he'd forgotten to share... Here's what he wrote:
"Some more tips about the Spiritual Variante. The beginning of the walk on Day Two is called the "Ruta da Pedra e da Auga" (The Way of the Stones and Water" ).
It was my single favorite day of walking along all of the Caminos that I completed.
Also, pilgrims should take the boat trip from Villa de Arousa to Pontecessures on Day 3 instead of walking. The boat ride replicates the way taken by Saint James disciples on their way to Compostela, and it is considered to be the origins of all caminos.
It includes the only Via Crucis located on water anywhere in the world. The Spiritual Variante is definitely worth it, and it should not be missed."
