The way that we live out our convictions is just as important as the convictions themselves. Our love for God should always inform how we treat those around us, or, as Paul says, "let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother" (Romans 14:13)

This Sunday Pastor Jonathan encouraged us to be repaired and prepared by living out our lives like Elijah: putting worship in order, being brave and bold, and having powerful prayers. Using Malachi 4:5-6, we can understand how God wants His Church to be empowered in the spirit of Elijah:
"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse." (Malachi 4:5-6)

"Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:8-9)

When Gideon was preparing to go into battle completely outnumbered, God asked him to conduct a few tests to diminish his numbers even more. Rather than fighting with 32,000 men, Gideon had to fight with 300. But the important part about these men is that they were ready to fight. This Sunday, Jonathan asks us the same question: are we ready and prepared for the battles that we wage against spiritual strongholds?

What does it mean to 'believe' in Jesus? Can we expect to say a single prayer and then live opposed to him? This Sunday, our outreach pastor Cris McPhetridge talks about that very thing. All the New Testament authors and Jesus himself expected Christians to live differently after their conversion. As James says,
"I will show you my faith by my deeds." (James 2:18)

Eugene Peterson once said, "The essential thing 'in heaven and earth' is that there should be long obedience in the same direction".
Obedience is difficult though. In busy schedules and distracted minds, often the first thing that suffers is our obedience to God's will. But by following the Word and the Spirit, and using wisdom, we can become people of obedience and grow in our relationship with God.
We must be people of the Spirit. Through surrendering to God, listening to the Spirit, and following his lead, we can activate the Spirit in our lives. From the very start of creation, God made us to be in constant relationship with the Spirit—it's what makes us alive.
"the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being" (Genesis 2:7)
Let's learn how to be people of the Spirit together!

It should be incredibly out of place despite its commonality—in sporting events, relationships, and working environments, fighting over dissimilarities is all too often heard of. Couple that with group identity in society, and it makes a recipe for disaster that has seeped into the church. But in the noise of confusion and chaos, God has spoken clearly—despite our diversity, we are called into unity. Jesus says,

The donkey that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday is often overlooked. Understandably so... I mean... his rider was JESUS after all. But this Sunday we look at the donkey as an indicator of the responsibility we have as believers, the attitude Jesus had in his triumphant entry, and the peace that Jesus foreshadowed he would bring. In the hustle and bustle of a large crowd, a small man stricken with a life of sin and shame saw his opportunity for forgiveness. Zacchaeus climbed a nearby tree to just see if he can get to Jesus, when suddenly, he called Zacchaeus out of the crowd. This story shows that the opportunity is here, the time is now. We have the choice to give over our lives to Jesus and to repay debts and settle scores in the name of the Kingdom.

Often times it isn't the novelty of our initial experience with God that we struggle with. It's the long obedience in the same direction that gets us. Peter struggled with this too as we see in Matthew 14 and his battle with the winds and the waves to get to Jesus.

This Wednesday, Pastor Jonathan Rhodes speaks on being courageous as a Biblical Virtue. Juxtaposed by fear, courage cannot take root unless we lean on God to bring out courage in the midst of do or die moments.
Progression can sometimes be daunting. In an instantly gratified world, the slow moving, steady faith of the practitioner can seem mundane. Yet Yahweh is beckoning us into the world of the practice, allowing Him to work through us as we continue to work out our salvation.
We are encouraged this week by Jake Wallace, our Youth Pastor, to become more like Christ by practicing behaviors that He taught and walked out.
In the middle of the stormy seas of life, we have a Rescuer and a Deliverer. When we a swarmed by chaos, we can look to Him in faith, rise up in His arms and take the waves head on.
This week, Jonathan encourages us to not only allow God to rescue us from the storm, but to partner with God in His army to fight for our lives and the lives of those around us.

In Ezekiel 37, we see a chilling image of a valley filled with bones, a stormy wind sweeping through and the bones rising, and growing into a strong army. Something out of a movie, right?
But this beautiful picture of how God breathes on our death-filled lives and raises us up into a strong battalion has profound meaning for our lives.

Prophecy is about how you use your mouth. Proclaiming what God's will is for this moment, this time and this place.

How do you respond when spiritual evil comes against you and your family?
We've all dealt with spiritual darkness, probably in some cases succumbed to its influence, but don't lose hope for the future! We have good news: that through Jesus, we can overcome twisted influences and protect our family unit from the enemy.
Instead of speaking doubt, discouragement, and dysfunction over your kid's life, allow Jesus to speak Truth.
Remember that time you turned on a lamp and then covered it with a blanket?
No?
Me neither.
Yet so often we cover up the light of our lives. We don't have to think of the grand scale: preaching, sharing Jesus with total strangers on the street etc. Yet we can simply and humbly uncover our Jesus-filled lives to our friends and family. To those we already have relationships with. That is what we gently encourage you to do today.
No isolated incidents. Our life choices affect others, namely those closest to us. Our actions influence people. With Jesus, the exposure can be light, and not darkness.
A change is always standing in front of us, but partnered with a cost. Weight and healthy eating, time and tv watching etc. So when God nudges your heart to change, will you accept the cost and follow Him?
In week two of the series: Words Against Us, Pastor Jonathan preaches about the effect words against us can bring. Through oppression, condemnation from others, and discouragement to not pursue God, we can live in freedom. This freedom comes only through Jesus, and because of it, we can fulfill our purpose in life.
This Sunday, Pastor Jonathan discusses how words that are spoken against us, affect our lives. They can cause condemnation, a lack of desire to pursue God, and lead to a broken pursuit of our purposes in life. He then instructs us on how to deal with these words: recognize what is happening, cast it down with truth and in faith, and continue to live in freedom.
This Father's Day, Pastor LaRonna Rhodes talks about things every Father should know. Firstly, that perfection does not exist. Secondly, little things are big things. Thirdly, patience is required. And lastly, that in order to be a P.R.O. Dad: you must be one that Prays, Reads, and Obeys. Happy Father's Day!
In this message, guest speaker Allan Gregory speaks to us about the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. We have completeness, wholeness and security through our Lord Jesus Christ that allows us to be steady in the midst of life's storms.
This week Pastor Jonathan talks about how we have been separated from the world by God, so that we are not influenced by it and led astray. Because of this, we are not to act as the world does, nor follow its example. In order to strengthen ourselves, we should make church a lifestyle, not just a building, and get connected to our church family so they can encourage us in ways we need to change.
Pastor LaRonna talk about how we can lead exciting, fun, and joyful lives in Christ. This means, though we still go through hard times, as James 1 says, we can experience incredible joy when we go through difficult circumstances. We can have Faith, Unity, and Nourishment from Christ and this leads to a truly F.U.N. lives.
How should we understand who the Holy Spirit is? How important is our relationship with Him? This is what we explored this week. Through the foretelling of the Scriptures we see how crucial our relationship with Him is, and how he brings out good fruits in our lives, including incredible gifts through which we can bless other people. Because of this, we should be continually receiving of His correction, comfort and fellowship
We can push through immense uncertainty and disappointment with Christ. Because of Jesus we can Persevere through it all: pain, sorrow, loss etc. because He has our good in mind. We can withstand situations when we are Under the attacks of the enemy. To withstand it is helpful to understand that these are Satanic attacks we experience. Yet through all that Satan is trying to Hinder in us, God enables us to persevere.
Happy Mother's Day Moms! Today, in our celebration of mothers, Pastor LaRonna spoke about Samson's mom. She was obedient to the Word of the Lord as we are follow and learn from the Bible, saying, "Not my will, but Yours be done Lord." She was also a sensitive mother. Just as we are supposed to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and what He is speaking to our hearts, she was sensitive to what God was speaking to her. Thirdly, she was a confident mother. She was not confident in her own strength, but in the strength that God gave her. Lastly, she was available for what God wanted in her life.
In this second week of discussing the creation story found in Genesis 1 and 2, Pastor Jonathan focuses on the main takeaways God desires for our lives. He discusses everything from being obedient to God, to eating your vegetables, so buckle in and get ready!
This Sunday, we had our child dedications. Naturally, we should take some time to truly understand what God is desiring for our children, and our parenting. Pastor Jonathan takes some time to unpack how seriously God takes our purity of heart and body in our dedication, both of our children and ourselves. One incredible example of this that we explore, is Samson's mother's dedication of him.
In this first week of discussing the creation story, Pastor Jonathan teaches the Biblical view of creation as described in Genesis 1. In view of this, we see the beauty of God, the order that He has called us to, and the image that we are to reflect as His creation.
In this second week of exploring the incredible comebacks on display in the Bible, we focus in on three characters: Noah, Jacob, and Joseph. Seeing how these characters overcame great setbacks by relying on God, and choosing to persevere in the midst of incredibly difficult circumstances, shows us how we can do the same in our modern day.
On this Easter Sunday, Pastor Jonathan walks us through the multiple comebacks of Jesus Christ, culminating in His final comeback when we will join Him forever. As we begin to comeback either in our personal lives, or as a community of Christ-followers, how can we learn from Jesus' coming back?
On this Palm Sunday, Pastor Jonathan displays who Jesus came as: a Prophet, a King, a Pastor and an Apostle. He is the Word of God to us, the King of our lives, our Shepherd and the One whom God has sent.
The Word of God is indispensable. In this message, Pastor LaRonna Rhodes encourages us to trust in the Written Word to Overcome, act with Radical Righteousness, and have a Defense to Defeat the enemy and his schemes.
Expounding upon Samson's life, Pastor Jonathan teaches how God can prepare us to do what he has stirred up on the inside. As Samson's mother is prepared, and Samson himself is ready, so we are to be in what God stirs up inside our hearts.
Often times, pleasures in life look incredibly appealing to us, yet we fail to recognize the death that surrounds them. Through the story of Samson, relishing in his old victories by eating honey found in the carcass of the lion he had killed, we see that there are beauties in life that are set in places God has told us to abstain from. Pastor Jonathan encourages us to trust God's definition of what is truly good for us.
Moses was called by God as deliverer, yet he went about his heart calling the wrong way. In this message, Pastor Jonathan Rhodes encourages us to go with God, not in our own strength. He will give us, as He gave Moses, His wisdom, favor, strength, and supernatural power!
When God speaks to our heart, uttering, "Go!" Will we listen? Though we do not have certainty, we have support from our Armor Bearer to step out onto the sea of seemingly chaotic circumstances, believing God will be with us, and He will lead us to victory.
