Childbirth. You do the hard yards for three whole trimesters and hey presto, the baby is here. YAY! But what now and what about you? The fourth trimester starts immediately after your baby is born and lasts for around three months. It's a time of immense change & adaptation not only for your baby, but also for you. It can be a really tough time for your body & your mind. In this podcast series, I introduce you to some amazing health care experts my daughter Evie & I met through our fourth trimester. All of whom work with women and families, helping them to navigate through this vulnerable phase & beyond. Each episode features an in depth conversation, packed full of information you may not have known, to recognise what our amazing bodies have done and explain how to care for ourselves now, for the future.

Throughout this discussion, Sandy Connolly (Post-partum Doula based in Wicklow) and I acknowledge what happened and how different groups have been effected.
Equally as important, we talk about how she and some of her peers have adapted and how women and families can still get the support they need on their post-partum journeys.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of community focused healthcare individuals such as Sandy Connolly, we can get on the right track. We just have to look for the signpost - and hopefully with this episode, if you need it, you will find yours.

These days, there are Doula's all over Ireland specialising in different areas of maternal care, for women & families going through at any stage or phase. However, over the course of this discussion we focus mainly on post-partum Doula Care and support in the 4th Trimester.
