EPISODE 22 PRINCIPLES FOR OVERCOMING FAILURE
EPISODE SUMMARY
This week's episode is about the principles for overcoming failure. Why should we let fear conquer our life and stop us from winning? The plans that God has for us may not be easy but overcoming is the right step to progress. Fear is just false evidence appearing real. And as Marie Curie once said, "Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood."
[01:02] Applying the principles of God's word to our daily life thus allowing us to be successful and our destinies a reality
[02:07] Fate was molded within us as God had plans for us; we were built to win
[02:30] Principle number one 'We understand not to allow fear to control us'
[02:42] Principle number two 'Check your attitudes'
[02:47] Principle number three 'Don't make excuses'
[02:50] Principle number four 'Never let failure get inside of you'; don't let negativity to prosper and move forward to the inside
[04:55] Principle number five 'Change yourself'; examine the weak spots and strengthen them
QUOTES:
"Sometimes we are guilty of making the application of God's words complicated when it's very, very simple. The interest of God's words will always give light, yet the interest in God's word will also give life."
"Never allow things of your past to control you."
"Wise people don't limit their focus to their strong points in life...They constantly examine their lives for weak points as well."
"The way you deal with your weaknesses may determine the way you deal with other parts of your life."
"Never allow your weaknesses to become an excuse for not striving and for not reaching."
"Just because we fail, does not mean that we are a failure."
"People who don't give up, keep trying because they don't base their self-worth on their performance."
EPISODE 21 SUMMARY

This week on the Built 2 Win Podcast, Darryl S. Brister, talks about How to Handle Conflict.
The Acid of Anger
Anger—- a strong emotion of displeasure that occurs when a need or expectation is not met.
Four Degrees of Anger (review)
Indignation is Simmering Anger provoked by something appearing unjust/unworthy and is often seen as justified
Wrath is Burning Anger with the desire to avenge
Fury is Fiery Anger that becomes so fierce it destroys common sense.
Rage is Blazing, Violent Fury, loss of self-control and temporary insanity
Recognize your anger as a signal that something is wrong. Like the red warning light on the dashboard of your car, the purpose of the light is to propel you to action. Jesus, becoming angry at the hypocrisy and stubborn hearts of the religious leaders, restored the man’s crippled hand on the Sabbath. (Mark 3:5)
Periodically, everyone feels the heat of anger, but how you handle the heat determines if you are misusing it. The small flame that lights a cozy campfire can just as quickly ignite a fierce forest fire. Likewise, the initial spark of anger that could be used for good can be snuffed out before it accomplishes its designated purpose.
An inappropriate response to anger is expressing your thoughts and feelings in an abusive, insensitive, or manipulative manner that produces dissension and strife. (Eph.4:31) “get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger”.
An appropriate response to anger is expressing your thoughts and feelings with confidence, consideration and concern for the other person’s welfare.
(Proverbs 17:27) (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
Unresolved anger leads to unrelenting bitterness burning deep within your heart. It quickly spreads across all borders - destroying your body, damaging your emotions, and devastating your relationships.
Anger may produce some of the following physical, emotional, and spiritual symptoms.
PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS
High blood pressure
Heart disease
Stomach disorders
Intestinal disorders
Headaches
Blurred vision
Insomnia
Compulsive eating
EMOTIONAL SYMPTOMS
Anxiety
Bitterness
Compulsions
Depression
Fear
Insecurity
Phobias
Worry
SPIRITUAL SYMPTOMS
Loss of perspective (you allow your emotions to distort your thinking)
Loss of vision (you lose your sense of purpose in life)
Loss of freedom (you become a prisoner of circumstances)
Loss of energy (you lose strength to serve God and others)
Loss of confidence (you feel insecure in responding to difficulty)
Loss of faith (you lack the belief that God is working in your life)
Loss of sensitivity (you can’t hear the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart)
Loss of identity (you become like the person whom you are bitter towards)
James 1:19 & 20
This week on the Built 2 Win Podcast, Darryl S. Brister talks about, being Anchored By Anger!!
Ephesians 4:31
An inappropriate response to anger is expressing your thoughts and feelings in an abusive, insensitive or manipulative manner that produces dissension and strife.
Romans 2:8
3-alarm…4-alarm…5-alarm…the blazing inferno rages! What began as a little spark has quickly burst into flames. Though no one may have noticed the spark of your blistering look or searing words, the heat of anger has consumed your spirit. Have you forgotten the damage a fire can do in only minutes? What do you do when you’re inflamed with angry feelings? Firemen are trained to answer the call quickly. Don’t hesitate to control your anger now!!
Proverbs 29:11
Anger, like heat, has many degrees. It rages from mild, controlled irritation to hot, uncontrolled explosions. Consequently, anger is an umbrella word that covers many emotions.
Indignation is Simmering Anger provoked by something appearing unjust/unworthy and is often seen as justified.
In Luke 13:14, the ruler of the synagogue became indignant when Jesus appeared to break the Mosaic Law by healing on the Sabbath.
Wrath is Burning Anger with the desire to avenge. Wrath often moves from a feeling to the outward expression of anger. In Romans 1:18-20, God’s wrath is divine chastisement in response to willful sin.
Fury is Fiery Anger that becomes so fierce it destroys common sense. The word suggests a force that is compelled to harm/destroy. In Acts 5:33, some members of the Sanhedrin were so furious with Peter and other apostles (for proclaiming the deity of Christ) that they wanted to put them to death.
Rage is Blazing, Violent Fury, loss of self-control and temporary insanity. In Deut. 19:4-6, the O.T. Law provided protection for an innocent man from the rage of a uniformed avenger.
Psalm 4:4
_Everyone feels the heat of anger, but how you handle the heat determines if you are misusing it.
Prolonged Anger Physical
Pressed Down Anger Emotional
_Provoked Anger
Profuse Anger
OVERCOMING ANGER
Psalm 37:8 (God got angry) – Num. 11:1, 10
Psalm 7:11 (God never de-humanizes/uncreates (1) in sanctification)
Anger = is a sudden feeling of displeasure and antagonism in response to an irritating factor. The irritation may be created by a person or a situation. The irritation itself may have been felt for sometime, but the response of anger nearly always has an eruption factor.
It is not a planned response!
The angry person is momentarily out of control – no longer operating according to reason of God’s principles of love.
3 Reasons Why People Tend To Become Angry
They aren’t allowed to have their way.
They are in pain, either physically/emotionally.
They are jealous.
Prov. 14:17
Outbursts of anger injure other people. Internalized anger injures the angry person. Anger is diametrically opposed to love.
Proverbs 15:1, 16:32
Unchecked/uncontrolled anger acts as acid on the soul – eating away at your spirit and eventually destroying all feelings of love toward others.
You must neutralize anger as soon as you are aware that you are experiencing it. If you don’t, you may very well:
Repress it, which is dangerous to you internally, both physically and emotionally.
Suppress it, which is like burying anger alive. It will erupt eventually.
Express it, generally in a way that is hurtful/harmful to others.
The alternative God provides for you is to:
4. Confess it. Admit to God that you are angry and ask for help and healing.
Anger is usually expressed in (1) of (2) ways:
As a physical or verbal outburst
A person may throw a punch, pound a fist against the wall, slam a door/phone receiver, swear/ shout, among other physical manifestations. Anger may even manifest itself as gossip. Every form of abuse – that I can name – sexual, physical, emotional, verbal, etc. has anger at its root.
As a brooding silence
The person internalizes the anger and allows it to seep into their sub-consciousness. Sometimes this anger displays itself as boredom/isolation from other people. The person who broods in silent anger may manifest an eruption of that anger at a later date. The anger may even erupt within the body in the form of disease. Unless (1) deals positively and in a Godly way with anger, anger will manifest itself in some way.
Romans 12: 18-21
