https://www.leilaarmstrong.com/ From Leila’s website: I am a practising artist currently doing my PhD in Evolution & Behaviour at the University of Lethbridge. I work both independently and in collaboration with other artists including 12 Point Buck and M.E.D.I.U.M.. My solo exhibition, Coyote (2014), addressed the intersection of wildlife with rural, suburban, and urban spaces. Coyote fostered a continued interest in traditional natural history methodologies and their connection to taxidermy and printmaking. I have done residencies at the Banff Centre and the Klondike Institute of Art & Culture. Additionally, I recently completed a residency in clay hand-building at Casa, which included the creation of 111 clay skunks for the Backyard Wilderness exhibition at the Helen Schuler Community Art Gallery (August 26 - September 28, 2019). During my residency, I led multiple workshops for community members, teaching them to build clay skunks. Backyard Wilderness also appeared on 6 billboards throughout Lethbridge (September 9 – October 6, 2019). My works “Coyote” and “Hawk on a Farmhouse” are currently touring as part of A Prairie Vernacular.

Great conversation to Linda a multidiscipline artist and long time participant and organizer of the Go Figure Lethbridge Live Drawing Group.

Sorry the AUDIO from me is not great. I have to figure out this audio thing (using zoom...zoikes) for pandemic episodes. It is so hard when we can't be in the same room. I hope it will not be too distracting as Linda is interesting. We will likely record this episode again.

Cheers,

Loralee

This is the inaugural episode. I made a rookie mistake and didn’t watch my time. This is the first half of our conversation, so if it feels like it stopped abruptly that’s why. I loved sitting down and getting to know Eileen and I really enjoyed our conversation., I hope you do too, she’s interesting, talented, strong, open and inspiring.
