This week I took a trip to the east of the capital, I visited London-based Thames21, one of the country's leading waterway charities. Thames21 work with communities to improve rivers, canals, ponds & lakes for both people and wildlife. Here is what happened:

The volunteers at the farm did get our Chris working hard and mucking out the cows and cleaning the stables. But what I saw at this Farm was people, many volunteers, really loving the animals and their roles. It was empowering to know they were giving up there free time to work at this wonderful Farm in south-east London. Some were trying to better there skills and this is great to improve your CV and to get a paid full-time employment.
This week was the beginning of Chris Explores; following my posts on CV’s and how to get a job, we went out to get Chris a job. Unfortunatly as with any job, sickness always strikes at the worst time, so this week, Caroline fills the shoes of finding a job.
Last week was 'World Mental Health Awareness' day which aims to get people talking more about mental health issues. The charity 'Mind' set up an online social media campaign via twitter using the hashtag 'What's your Story?" which saw thousand share information about themselves, some are included in this radio feature. Tom simply refuses to believe that we, as a nation, have become slobbish in our well-mannered ways.
Britain is filled with people that help the elderly cross the road, that send thank you cards for presents and that always hold the door for the person behind them. Right?
