Anybody who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me; and anybody who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I shall love him and show myself to him.’ John 14:15-21
Mary lived with St John the Evangelist after the death of her Son, Jesus. Her insights into God are clearly discernible in the beloved disciple's Gospel. Jesus’ words at the beginning of this week’s Gospel are full of maternal tenderness and care for His disciples and all future believers, which are especially fitting to reflect on this Mother's Day.
"The one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock; the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leads them out." John 10:1-10
The Risen Jesus reveals to the disciples on the road to Emmaus that He is the true Light. They recognised Jesus at the breaking of the bread, before he disappeared from their sight.
