In this episode, host Nichole Harrop talks about the CTFAR framework that changed her life. She walks the audience through this self-coaching model that helped her take control of her thoughts, feelings, and actions, and improve her response to everyday situations.
Nichole shares her personal experience of feeling out of control with her thoughts and feelings, especially during her three-year-long infertility journey. She came across the CTFAR model while listening to Jody Moore's podcast, and it made a significant impact on her life. Within a week of implementing this practice, Nichole noticed a positive change in herself, and people around her could also see the difference.
The CTFAR framework stands for Circumstances, Thoughts, Feelings, Actions, and Results. Everything is a circumstance, and good or bad things are only good or bad because of the thought and feeling that happens after the circumstance.
Nichole believes that the model can help individuals have more control and show up in the best ways possible, even in challenging situations.
Overall, this podcast episode is informative, relatable, and inspiring, and it encourages listeners to take charge of their thoughts and feelings and become more mindful in their daily lives.

In this episode, Nichole discusses the importance of setting boundaries in the workplace, offering advice on how to identify and enforce them. She encourages listeners to book a leadership assessment call to help them better understand their current situation and where they want to go.
Nichole emphasizes that awareness is key to setting boundaries and that it is important to recognize what boundaries look like for you in the workplace. She also advises against feeling the need to say yes to everything and encourages listeners to understand what actually brings them joy in their role.
She uses the example of delegation as a way to set boundaries, noting that just because you are good at something does not mean you enjoy doing it. Nichole also discusses "non-promotable tasks," such as note-taking and recognition efforts, that may not help listeners get promoted.
To further illustrate the importance of setting boundaries, Nichole suggests thinking about how your leader sets boundaries and whether they respond to messages or emails late at night or on weekends. She notes that it is easier to enforce boundaries when you see your leader doing it.
In conclusion, Nichole encourages listeners to recognize their own boundaries and to say no to certain things that are not a right fit for them, as well as to understand the importance of a healthy work-life harmony.

In this episode, Nichole talks about how to work through negative perceptions at work. She offers a complimentary leadership assessment call to help women understand where they are currently in the workplace and where they want to go.
Nichole describes how perceptions can lead to bigger issues and create negative self-doubt thoughts. She shares a personal experience of applying for team leader roles and being turned down multiple times. She explains that this was a sign that there might be a perception issue at work. She realized that there were office politics at play, and some leaders only hired people who they were friends with or who they saw as part of their inner circle.
Nichole emphasizes that it's essential to work on self-awareness and to be aware of the perceptions others have of you. She suggests taking on additional responsibilities, showing up as your best self, and having open and honest conversations with your manager. By doing pulse checks with other team members, you can gain insight into how to approach difficult situations with tact and strategy. Rather than placing blame, it's important to get curious and understand how to best move forward.

In this episode of the Future Female Leaders podcast, host Nichole Harrop talks about how perception issues can hold back one's career growth in the organization. She defines perception as a quick judgment, mental impression, or way of regarding, understanding or interpreting something. Nichole explains that perception issues arise when people make quick judgments without having all the facts. To challenge these perceptions, she suggests getting curious and asking questions to get a better understanding of the situation. Additionally, Nichole emphasizes the importance of building a strong relationship with one's leader and being open to feedback. She suggests that one should ask their leader what kind of roles they see them in and why, to better understand how to grow in their career. Finally, Nichole advises listeners not to be too hard on themselves and to receive feedback with an open mind, even if it can be difficult to take in.
In this episode, the focus is on embracing change at work. Nichole starts with a brief meditation session, encouraging listeners to find a comfortable and quiet space, breathe deeply, and relax their bodies. After this, she invites listeners to reflect on how they respond to changes happening in their workplace, and encourages them to think about how they want to show up when changes happen.
Listeners are asked to imagine themselves in a meeting where changes are announced, and to envision two different versions of themselves: the old version, which is filled with dread and fear, and the new version, which sees the opportunity for growth and feels at peace with the change. Listeners are encouraged to become the new version of themselves, to communicate clearly with their leadership team about any concerns, and to seek to understand if they are unsure of changes that are coming.
Nichole leads listeners in repeating affirmations, such as "I can stand out as a leader exactly where I am" and "I will be open to concerns, but I don't participate in gossip around change." Ultimately, Nichole encourages listeners to approach changes at work with an open mind and a positive attitude, so they can be seen as leaders in their organizations.

Nichole and Shannon discuss ways to improve communication in the workplace. One way is to ask questions separately in bullet points instead of in long paragraphs within an email, allowing the other person to answer each question next to it. Another way is to present information and requests in a table format to allow for more detailed responses and easier communication.
These methods help make communication more concise and prevent misunderstandings. Additionally, Shanenn encourages people to ask for what they need in a clear and direct manner.
Nichole and Shannon discuss how to approach a conversation with a supervisor who is not a good communicator. They recommend making a list of questions, including when the task is due, who needs to be involved, and if there are any specific instructions. It is also recommended to set up one-on-ones with the supervisor and discuss expectations and how to communicate better. Additionally, they suggest proactively communicating what type of learner you are and how the supervisor can accommodate that.
In meetings, women get interrupted more often than men. To prevent interruptions, a woman can politely say a couple of phrases like "I have just another point to make and then I'd love to hear your feedback," or "As soon as I'm finished, I'm gonna open it up, and we'll be able to hear everyone's feedback." Women can practice these phrases to feel more comfortable in the moment. If interrupted, a woman can use visual cues like putting her finger up or reaching out physically to get the speaker's attention and say that she wasn't done speaking yet. People interrupt because they're thinking of their response and not because they're rude.

The Future Female Leaders podcast aims to help create more female leaders in the workplace.

Is there a definitive timeline on how long you'll work in a role without getting promoted or having other opportunities available?
In this episode of the Future Female Leaders podcast, host Nichole Harrop addresses the question of how long one should stay at their current job if they aren't getting promoted. She clarifies that it's not always about the money but rather about experience and making a difference. Money is a consideration, however, and Nichole provides examples of what it can look like when you're not getting promoted within your company.
She talks about the standard cost of living increases, which have been around 7% in the last two years. If you're not getting a cost of living increase wage, you're losing money each year. She gives an example of someone who starts at a salary of $40,000 and receives a 3% raise each year. If they stick with their current job, they will reach $46,003.70 by the fifth year. However, if they found a new job at $50,000 after the second year, by the fifth year, their salary would be $54,006.36.
Nichole emphasizes that it's never a bad thing to prioritize yourself and what you're interested in, including pay and opportunities. If you've been in your job for at least 6 months to a year and are actively applying for roles but getting vague feedback, it may be time to consider other opportunities.

In this episode of Next Level Leaders, Nichole Harrop interviews Jenna Altman on how to set realistic health and fitness expectations for busy corporate women without sacrificing their mental health. In this episode you will learn:
1. The impact of all-or-nothing thinking on women's health and fitness journeys
2. The importance of finding a healthy lifestyle that works for you
3. How all-or-nothing thinking can lead to restrictive eating and weight gain
"I want people to feel healthy and strong in their bodies and that it's not to fit a certain mold."
Jenna Altman is a women's health and fitness coach. She helps busy corporate women find a healthy lifestyle that works for them.
From Jenna: I was once in the busy corporate world, and I struggled with confidence and body image. I was always trying quick fixes to lose weight. I cut out carbs and tried different fad diets, but I learned that it wasn't worth the mental headspace it was taking up. I found a healthy lifestyle that works for me and helps me feel my best. I think it's important for women in the workplace to find a balance between their career and their health. I struggled with this myself when I was working in an office. I was always the person who was focused on my health and fitness, and I would often get comments from other coworkers about how disciplined I was.

Time management can easily become something that leads to burnout when we aren't aware of how we spend our time. We may be planning our day poorly or feel like we've planned well, only to realize that we didn't plan actual prep time for the several meetings of that day.
Your calendar is not only for active meetings, it can also be utilized for planning and prep for all of your meetings and different deliverables.

Are you getting the most out of the interview process? If you have companies you are really excited about interviewing with, Nichole recommends an additional step of connecting with people from these companies via LinkedIn.
Go to LinkedIn and search a company name, click on People and search the exact role you applied for. Then see which team members pop up who have been in their role for 6 months or so, click connect and "add a note" so you can clarify why you are sending a connection request.
"Hey [Name], I applied for [role] at [company]. I'm really excited about the opportunity and would love to connect with some team members to better understand the company mission and values as I go through the interview process. How have you enjoyed your role for the last [time in position]?"
Once they have accepted, you can ask them if there were any interview questions that surprised them or to better understand the overall process they went through to get hired. What do they feel like the team is looking for? Show genuine interest in them because even if you aren't hired for this role, they may be reaching back out when another role is opened up.

It’s true that you can liken recruiting to dating. There is a courting ritual that has to happen between two parties, where if a third party gets involved, there could be issues. Imagine doing this dance with 32 companies in one week!
This is something our guest on today’s episode went through after being laid off and embarked on her job search. Alyssa Rhoda joins us today to walk us through how she tackled this monumental task and the struggles that came along with it.
Alyssa Rhoda is the director of talent acquisition at a tech company based out of LA called Zephyr. She has been in recruiting for over a decade and is passionate about the candidate experience, company culture, and employee engagement. All reasons why recruiters were after her once she switched her status to “open to work” on LinkedIn.
However, even after having a system of questions and points for each company, where Alyssa really put the time and effort into vetting each company in her interviews, the company she chose ended up being a bad fit. This led to her quitting in 45 days after being hired.
If this can happen to Alyssa, this can happen to anyone. So, we wanted to bring Alyssa on today’s episode to discuss her experience and share the lessons she learned with our listeners so you have a better understanding and knowledge of how to choose a company most aligned with you.

We are surrounded by people telling us what we should or should not do. At times, it can be helpful because it takes the guess work out of what we need to be doing, but when you are reading articles or seeing different things pop up on your thread potentially shaming you for what you are or are not doing "right", it can feel frustrating. Nichole recommends that you take the advice or guidance and try it on for yourself and see what works best for you and move forward from there. Keep what works and throw away the rest.

Nichole continued to push through with an underlying passion to serve those around her, knowing they would see her true intentions if she continued to serve her team and department. Two years into her new role, she was recruited to a new tech company coming to Utah and saw a great opportunity. She took a lateral move and a big risk, hoping it would pay off- and it did. Nichole took on additional projects to help out the team and was promoted to a manager title within 5 months and had amazing mentors who helped teach her so much in a very short time. Nichole helped with training, had a team of her own, managed the email team in the Philippines, she was involved with office wide recognition and helped roll out new tools to help track and measure each individuals success and contributions to the team. Nichole was laid off abruptly in March of 2017 and moved on to work for a Veteran owned company as a Customer Success Manager. There was a lot of discord and struggle to push forward which she realized this company would not be somewhere she worked long-term. After having her baby in December 2017, she decided not to go back to that position and heard of another opportunity that would work with her staying at home with her new daughter for the foreseeable future. She started taking on additional tasks and projects and took on a title as Business Manager, something similar but different as she was working with retail products. She helped to establish many company wide standard operating procedures as well as assisting in laying ground work for communication efforts to help this small business continue to grow. Nichole has felt for some time that she needed to help mentor and coach more women to overcome the obstacles and work through the difficult struggles quicker than she did on her own. She is excited for what the future holds and what she can contribute to others.
