CITY TALKS is a Live Q&A series, discussing topics that inspire citizens, initiatives and businesses in these times of crisis. A series initiated by A City Made By People, an international network of cities, collaborating and celebrating liveability through content, events and experiences.
Even without a global pandemic, everyone can agree that running a business can be tedious and stressful enough. The question is, how have businesses who are still standing adjusted to the lockdowns of Covid-19? Have they reinvented themselves in their approach, or do they need our support now more than ever? For this month’s City Talks, we’re hosting a virtual Q&A with three initiatives from around the world to share their thoughts and learnings with us. It’ll be an online hangout to discover why and how you should support local businesses, and your first easy steps in doing so!
Have you felt your friendships shift during this pandemic? In the first few months of lockdown, you might’ve put in the effort for virtual beers or wine with friends, maybe even branching out to online gaming or virtual workout sessions to keep things interesting… but was it sustainable, did it last?
What challenges did Covid-19 bring to the friends we have, or the friends we have yet to make? How do we connect with others when being in a physical space is discouraged nowadays?

Arthood is a collective who reflects on today’s society. We want to evoke questions, stimulate the mind and bring up a conversation about themes such as sexuality, mental health, social equality, gender and the environment. We do this by creating art, editorials, events and talks.
We believe that creatives, makers, marketeers, developers, writers, and designers are the future pioneers for our society. Our mission to make a change is by creating awareness.

Alina is a visual artist working across illustration & ceramics, and design. She runs a tiny shop and studio in Amsterdam Oost called Pansy, which celebrates independent artists' work, hosts hands-on creative workshops, and tiny exhibitions and events.
