As with the rest of the entertainment industry, COVID-19 meant things came to a halt for Brisbane based, international touring DJ act: Mashd N Kutcher.
After 6 years of touring, 2 Platinum records and over 1000 live shows played, the duo saw an entire year of scheduled shows across Australia, Asia, Europe, India and North America cancelled, joining the country in lockdown.
Whilst difficult to collaborate with other musicians and producers, the duo were forced to work with the tools they were given.
With Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews (the daily poster-boy for Australian news, during his Press Conference briefings), the duo decided to get those creative juices flowing one night and to remix a press conference for a laugh, sampling the phrase: “Get on The Beers.”Within days, this term had turned into not only a household phrase in Australia, but over the coming months, it evolved into something much more. The Victorian Premier’s words & sayings continued to create new ways for the boys to re-invent the song. As Melburnians were thrust into the most challenging lockdown of the country, the song has become somewhat of an anthem, carrying a theme of positivity, hope and memories of good times at the Pub with friends, not to mention a laugh which was much needed.
As Pubs and Restaurants (and hopefully soon clubs) now begin to open up around Australia, the momentum is increasing with Mashd N Kutcher’s song being the anthem of choice for pubs around the country to re-open their doors. Melbourne, it’s time ….. to “Get on the Beers!!”
Geelong Mums is asking for support for vulnerable babies and children by making a
donation to their Christmas Appeal.
2020 has brought many challenges for the Geelong charity and the families they assist.
The charity, founded in 2013 by five local mums, managed to keep their doors open
throughout lockdown and kept up with the overwhelming number of families turning
to them for help.
Since the start of the pandemic, at least 42% of families supported by Geelong Mums
have been negatively affected by COVID-19. Job loss, homelessness and an increase in
domestic violence are just a few of the causes of disadvantage these families are dealing
with right now.
Geelong Mums General Manager, Julia Roache, said, “for many families, this time of year
is tough in a ‘normal’ year. 2020 has thrown even more obstacles into the mix which will
make this Christmas harder than usual. Making a monetary donation that will provide
essential nursery equipment, will bring so much relief to families in crisis at this time of
year. Sadly, it may be the only gift they receive”.
This Christmas, Geelong Mums is asking the community to make a donation that will
pay for a specific item and to leave a message of support for a family.
● $30 will keep a baby snug and safe with cosy bedding
● $56 will provide a clothing bundle for a baby or child with more than 100
items to last them a year
● $134 is the magic number - the average cost per child to help more than
20,000 babies and children in Victoria this year
● $187 will provide a cot and mattress - a safe place for a baby to sleep, dream
and play
● $1,000 for "The Whole Kit & Caboodle” - provide a family with all the material
essentials they need for their young child
“We know so many people are doing it tough this year. Any donation amount will go a
long way in helping to ensure no family misses out this Christmas”, Ms Roache said.
Torquay's Alistair Lawson grew up in England, moving to Australia at age 22. At the age of 6 he started to train in Martial Arts. Through his life long inspiration from the Great Bruce Lee he has been able to set his goals and focus on achieving many different things. Later in life, Alistair discovered he had dyslexia, a problem left un-diagnosed. When reading, words would become jumbled and jump which made reading hard. However, he does not let this effect his goals and uses this as a way to focus more and connect to others. Alistair runs a full time Martial Arts studio in Torquay, Victoria and has set his goals on helping others achieve their full potential through mental and physical training and understanding. Alistair writes children's rhyming books and poems which have important messages of Never Giving Up, Focusing, Becoming Your Best and many more. Through his writings he hopes to help others and inspire a new generation.

Kristy Brodie is shaving her dreads off after 14 years to raise money and awareness for Embrace Awareness; a local charity that helps women and children affected by domestic and family violence in the Geelong community.

Aiming to raise $10,000, the driving force behind this extraordinary marathon - his own children. “It’s not until you have children of your own that you want to give them everything you possibly can. But what if that wasn’t much at all? What if you couldn’t provide the bare essentials? Geelong Mums help provide this and much more to parents, babies and children in the greater Geelong region and with 2020 being such a difficult year for many, it's really important to get behind those vulnerable in our community.” Thanks to the generosity of the community, Geelong Mums were able to help over 6,200 babies and children from vulnerable families across Geelong in the past year. “Babies don’t stop being born in a pandemic and children all need warm clothes. "The COVID-19 pandemic is the first time I can remember where a particular challenge or tragedy has been global. This is something the whole world is facing at much the same time. This gives us a shared experience across the globe that I think is quite rare. We have been exposed to constant media stories about COVID-19, but I’m interested in the real human stories about how people are coping with this situation behind what are quite literally closed doors (due to lockdowns, quarantine, and isolation).
This project asks people to submit monologues on the theme of COVID-19. I’m an actor, and the performing arts industry has been hit particularly hard with the lockdowns associated with COVID. I created this project as a way for our community of artists around the globe to do what the arts do best, express and reflect on our situation, and help us feel and digest what we are going through, with an understanding of our shared humanity and vulnerability. "

Antonio Gambale is an Italian and Australian composer based in Paris, France. He most recently scored Netflix’s international hit limited series, Unorthodox, which earned Antonio two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music and Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series. Film Music Magazine also praised the music as a “breakthrough score.”
Antonio’s career in film and TV spans decades, including a long and fruitful collaboration working with colleague and mentor Parisian composer Nathaniel Méchaly. Antonio has contributed to projects of international renown such as the Taken film franchise (as programmer, additional music composer and score producer), Colombiana and director Wong Kar Wai’sTheGrandmaster. In collaboration with Nathaniel, Antonio co-scored the Season 3 of the popular French political satire comedy series, KaboulKitchen.
Antonio is graduate of the inaugural year of the Screen Composition course at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.

Narcolepsy is a chronic sleep disorder characterised by overwhelming daytime drowsiness and sudden attacks of sleep. When you think of front line workers you think of doctors, nurses, those in the lab trying to find a cure. Even teachers, they are going above and beyond to continue educating across Geelong and the Surf Coast.
Well we can add someone else to that list.
And the Departure Lounge got an Australian Radio Exclusive with one of those who are putting their body on the line.
Whilst 2020 has seen the world go through unprecedented times, for Delta Goodrem it’s been a year that has seen her release incredibly powerful pieces of music and connect with fans like only she can do.
In April, Global Citizen together with Lady Gaga reached out and invited Goodrem to perform as part of the online One World: Together At Home festival in support of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization. Delta was the only artist performing
in Australia, with the event capturing over 270 million viewers who had tuned in around the world.
On Anzac Day, April 25th, Delta was one of four hosts of the Music From The Home Front live music event broadcast on the Nine Network, and performed ‘Down Under’ with Men At Work’s Colin Hay.
Keen to connect with her fans from all over the world, Delta launched The Bunkerdown Sessions via her social media platforms 14 weeks ago. Performing live deep cuts from her extensive catalogue and some new pieces she had been working on, on the seventh week she surprised and

Delta has also returned this year as the longest serving Coach on The Voice Australia, and celebrated 150 episodes in June, ahead of the Grand Final this coming Sunday July 19th on Nine, where she will perform ‘Paralyzed’ for the very first time during the show.
With such a busy schedule, we were thrilled to have a few minutes of Delta's time on the Departure Lounge.
How is she dealing with face timing her mum while in iso?
A woman in South Korea was two months pregnant with Josiah Presley, when she decided to have an abortion.
A short time after the procedure, she realised that she was still pregnant: the abortion was unsuccessful. At that time, she decided that she would choose life for her baby and give him up for adoption.
Josiah Presley was born with a maimed left arm as a result of the abortion his birth-mother had.
He was adopted by a loving family in the United States. He later found out that his birth-mother attempted to abort him, sparking some hatred in his heart for her. He was later able to grow in a relationship with the Lord, enabling him to forgive his birth mother for all that she did.

Founded by two young Australian entrepreneurs; Molly Jane and Chloe
Szepanowski, the ‘Bloom – Meditation & Sleep’ app is assisting thousands of users to blossom into the optimal versions of themselves. With over 145,000 downloads, Bloom is positively impacting the lives of not only Australians, but people all around the world with meditation and mindfulness activities available to subscribers whenever and wherever they need.
Through the combined use of mindful movement, breathwork, Kundalini yoga, guided meditations, and affirmations, Bloom is rapidly becoming a front-runner in the online wellness field. The app features many world class expert teachers across a range of disciplines.
The idea to create the app was derived from a mutual passion that Molly and Chloe shared surrounding all things wellness. As Molly explains, “We started incorporating different tools into our everyday routine that helped us de-stress and overcome battles that we were both going through.” This passion then grew into a yearning to pass this knowledge on to as many people as possible, and to share the simple things that they were doing in their own day-to-day lives to improve their overall wellbeing. Enter – the Bloom app.
The app was launched in August 2019, and held the number one most downloaded status in the AppStore for just over five days. Since then, Bloom has continued to excel and introduce more features within the app, including a gamified approach to meditation and stress reduction. Bloom has also received over 5,000 reviews on the AppStore. Given both Molly and Chloe come from regional towns in Victoria and Queensland respectively, it is inspiring to so many that they are now founders of a thriving brand that is helping such a large number of people to transform their lives for the better.
A recent study conducted by The Medical Journal of Australia found that Australians were experiencing at least twice the rate of mental health problems during the first month of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is therefore especially crucial that we feel supported and in touch with our mental wellbeing at this time, which makes Bloom’s purpose and tools all the more critical. This need has been directly reflected in a 94% increase of daily app users since March 21 st 2020, as well as a 40% increase in
downloads.
SURF Coast Secondary College staff and students have been making meals for those in need in their community.
Most of the meals were given to the Salvation Army for distribution, with some also being given to families of students who are struggling.
The group of about five students, five staff and one parent helper have produced thousands of meals while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Mental well being is an important driver in Tal’s journey to capture his images.
His photographs are as much about the journey to capture these moments, as it is about producing the final photograph.
Tal is a passionate creator. He strives to promote inquisitiveness and emotive feelings through his images, giving viewers a connection to the moment.
No matter what, the ocean will always be a part of him – Tal states the ocean is his lifeblood, “I am consigned to the sea.”
The local artist just picked up first Place (VIEphoto Gold Medal) - Our World Category at the VIENNA International Photo Award 2020.

Vision Australia Seeing Eye Dogs and The Petbarn Foundation have partnered again, for the seventh year, to encourage Australians to lend a helping paw and raise much needed funds to assist people who are blind or have low vision.
As part of this fundraising promotion, four Seeing Eye Dogs puppies will go head-to-head (and tail-to- tail) with the inaugural Seeing Eye Dogs Puppy Games to see who will take out gold – all in the name of raising much needed funds to assist people who are blind or have low vision.
The puppy athletes will take on a series of fun challenges as they participate in the ultimate test in co-ordination and sporting prowess, as well as showcase the skills and real-life challenges they may face as a Seeing Eye Dog.
The Puppy Games include: the Petbarn Dogstacle Distraction Course, the Time Trial Challenge and the ROYAL CANIN© Puppy Food Bowl Challenge.

Luke Biscan's father was a founding member of the folk-rock band, Goanna. Before Luke was born, his father joined a religion which has since been branded a cult. Luke was raised in the cult but was kicked out and excommunicated from his family for disobeying the rules. A friend of his father's encouraged him to start gigging around Geelong and Luke's world opened up. His Blind Audition song 'Revivalist' is about leaving the church. It's now his time to step into the mainstream and show Australia what he's got.
Josh Spence is a former professional baseball pitcher.
He pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres.
And he's one of our own, from Geelong!
Josh is the son of Tony and Debbie Spence (Prestige Jayco) and has had a great baseball career both here and in the states where he's spent the last 13 years in Arizona.
His little brother Liam is currently playing baseball for the University of Tennessee. His other brother Nic also played with the University of Cincinnati. Baseball is in the blood!
Josh came home last year after taking up the role of pitching coach with Adelaide Giants in the ABL. He's back in Geelong doing some coaching locally before the summer season kicks off again.

One new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Greater Geelong council area this afternoon, bringing the city’s total to 57.
It was originally reported there had been no changes in local cases today however an update from the Department of Health on Wednesday afternoon confirmed the inclusion of the new case.
A technical error has been blamed for the incorrect data being released.
Across the wider region there has been no change in total cases with nine along the Surf Coast, 27 at Wyndham and just one in the Golden Plains.
Total cases recorded across the state overnight is also unchanged at 21 for a total of 1,212.

People in the live music and entertainment industries are being severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Thousands of jobs have been lost in recent weeks as a result of the cancellation of concerts, festivals, tours and shows. Reported losses across the sector amount to well over $100 million and are rising daily.
While clearly necessary to protect the health of the nation, these cancellations have affected a huge array of music industry workers including artists, crew, management, promoters, agents, vendors, publicists, merchandisers, drivers, loaders, riggers and everyone else who relied on live events for their income.
The vast majority of these workers are independent contractors who do not have the luxury of sick leave or annual leave. Most live from tour to tour, or gig to gig and they have lost their ability to earn an income through no fault of their own.
Support Act is already being inundated with requests for crisis relief from people who have gone from having seemingly secure income over the coming months to suddenly having no way to pay their bills. Our Mental Health Helpline which provides free counselling to those in need is also reporting a surge in calls.
Many of the people who find themselves in this position are the same artists, crew and music workers who donated their time and talent to support others by staging benefit shows following the bushfire crisis just a few months ago.
As the most prominent music industry charity, Support Act is committed to doing what it can to help those in need but our resources are limited. We urgently need to build our own war chest in order to provide even a modest level of crisis relief to people who have been impacted.
Today we have therefore launched the COVID19 Emergency Appeal to accept donations from all sections of the Australian community. The target for the Appeal is $20million and Support Act has contributed $100k from its limited reserves to kickstart the campaign.

Australian children’s entertainers, The Mik Maks have joined the fight against Covid-19 by releasing a new song.
‘We Wash Our Hands’ is accompanied by a film clip that teaches children how to wash their hands with soap correctly.
Written and sung by The Mik Maks, ‘We Wash Our Hands’ seeks to educate young families around the world in an uplifting manner.
The Mik Maks are known universally for bringing the ROCK to kid’s music. This song is no exception!

There are 740,000 people employed in the hospitality sector across Australia. It is conservative to assume that 25% of that workforce will become unemployed. That will be an extra 185,000 people without jobs.
Less than a week into this health and economic crisis, significant hospitality businesses were already closing their doors. This last week, as bad as it has been, is only the beginning CEO of Give Where You Live Bill Mithen "At best estimates there is already 6% of Victoria’s population that suffer food insecurity. That is approximately 400,000 people that are already terribly vulnerable. That number will grow. The emergency food sector relies on donated excess food, the supply of which is disappearing quickly. In addition that sector it is totally dependent on volunteers who have an average age of 65+. That labour force is also disappearing. The largest local emergency food agency has already seen a reduction in volunteers of 25%". Their proposal is to use existing food supply chains and distribution systems to keep businesses afloat and vulnerable people fed. It enables the use of the existing infrastructure and capacity in the hospitality sector.

In particular, people who are more vulnerable, including older Australians, those with chronic diseases, and those with a disability. It is distressing, for instance, to witness the elderly struggling on their own to buy essential items from the supermarket. There are many people across the Geelong, Corangamite, Ballarat and Bendigo regions who wish to volunteer their time, even if it is to assist with shopping or running errands. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre (The SAFV Centre), in partnership Bethany Group and The City of Greater Geelong, with support from Victoria Police will hold a peaceful rally on Thursday 12 March 5.30pm in Johnstone Park, Geelong to shine a light on family violence.
They are asking the Geelong community to come along and show your support to prevent family violence. This is an opportunity to bring the Geelong community together to honor the lives lost as a result of family violence, support those experiencing abuse in the home and contribute to a broader conversation about preventing family violence.

Musician, actor and activist Adam Lambert has launched the Feel Something Foundation (FSF), with the mission to support LGBTQ+ organisations that are moving the needle for communities of all ages and backgrounds. Founded by Adam in 2019, the Feel Something Foundation is the result of a career travelling the world, meeting global members of the community, hearing their stories and witnessing first-hand the difficulties LGBTQ+ people continue to face in all areas of life. Wildlife Victoria has provided the community with a Wildlife Emergency Response service for 30 years.
Every year thousands of native animals in Victoria become sick, injured or orphaned, often as a direct result of human activity. If left unassisted, these animals may suffer and die in pain or of starvation.
They receive about 80,000 requests for help a year and help over 50,000 animals.
When a member of the public contacts Wildlife Victoria about a sick, injured or orphaned animal, Emergency Response Operators provide advice to help the caller manage the situation appropriately, and when necessary, arranges for a trained volunteer to attend.
They also liaise with other organisations to ensure the best possible outcome for the animal.
With Victoria currently uniting after the recent devastating Christmas New Year Bushfires, CEO Megan Davidson checked into the Departure Lounge to chat about the work they are doing and how we can assist creatures great and small on the ground now.

Author, columnist, and comedian Steve Hofstetter is often called the hardest working man in show-business. With all due respect to the late James Brown.
Hofstetter's brutal tour schedule consists of over 100 colleges and dozens of clubs every year, and is fueled by an immense online popularity, tons of press, and a Prius with great gas mileage. He reached 200,000 friends on Facebook and 400,000 more on MySpace, and high shelves in grocery stores.

Is Geelong ready? Is Steve ready for Geelong audiences?
A group of seven leading scientists warn that the globe is nearing nine major tipping points.
Basically, not good for the planet.
These include coral die-offs in the Great Barrier Reef, the extensive loss of Arctic sea ice and ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica, the thawing of permafrost, and the destruction of boreal forests in high-altitude areas and the Amazon Rainforrest.
Their findings were recently published as a commentary in scientific journal Nature.
Again, not good for the planet.

Will was the Inaugural Director of the ANU Climate Change Institute, from 2008-2012. Prior to that, he was Director of the ANU Fenner School of Environment and Society. Geelong Mums is asking the community to support more than 1,400 babies and children in need this Christmas. Geelong Mums was founded in 2013 and quickly grew from front porch donation drives to today’s thriving operation, which consists of over 1,000 volunteers rehoming more than 18,000 nursery items worth $2.2 million to more than 6,100 babies and children last year alone. All goods are distributed by Maternal and Child Health Nurses and social workers from more than 65 partner agencies throughout the region. With material donations, financial support, incredible volunteer contribution, and a lot of hard work, Geelong Mums provides everything a family needs to welcome their baby home from the hospital for an average cost of $126. This could include a cot, pram, car seat, breast pump, toiletries, nappies, wipes, clothing and linen, books, toys and many other essentials. This Christmas, Geelong Mums is asking the community to make a donation that will pay for a specific item and to leave a message of support for the family who will receive it. Geelong Mums General Manager, Julia Roache, said “at this time of the year Geelong Mums is really busy. However, the funding we need to continue helping families in need runs very low which is why we need the community’s support.” The theme of this year’s Christmas appeal is “Share the Joy”. “Making a financial donation that will provide essential nursery equipment will bring much needed relief to families in crisis at this time of year. Sadly, for some it might be the only gift they receive,” Julia said. “Your monetary gift will mean we can get safe cots, prams, car seats and good quality children’s clothing into the homes of families living in uncertain situations in Geelong.” Geelong Mums works in conjunction with their colleagues at St Kilda Mums and Eureka Mums in Ballarat. At 24, Kiwi singer-songwriter Mitch James has already ticked off multiple milestones. Released last September, his self-titled debut album is certified gold in his home country of New Zealand. His singles 'Bright Blue Skies' and '21' have become Platinum hits, and he’s had two more singles, 'Old News' and 'All the Ways to Say Goodbye', go gold. He’s racked up 120 million streams so far, and many of his guitar-influenced pop songs have become mainstream radio staples.
Mitch kicked his career off by busking on the streets of London. He’d moved to the UK, but struggled to make ends meet. James spent time sleeping rough, was beaten up and robbed. Red Frogs recognises that the culture of young people is dominated by alcohol. In situations such as Schoolies/Leavers Week, excessive consumption of alcohol and other substances means that things can often get out of hand and potentially alter the direction of a young person’s future. Our volunteers act as the eyes and ears in accommodation venues and out on the streets, providing a positive peer presence to school leavers.
It's been one year since Respect Victoria was enshrined in legislation, becoming Victoria’s first agency dedicated to the prevention of all forms of family violence and violence against women.
The establishment of Respect Victoria represents a critical component of Victoria's family violence architecture, fulfilling Recommendation 188 of the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
Respect Victoria leads on two of the five pillars outlined in Free from Violence: Victoria’s strategy to prevent family violence and all forms of violence against women – to engage and communicate with the community, and research and evaluate.
Anniversaries are important milestones, and they rarely get opportunities to celebrate in their line of work. Too often, a scan of the news headlines adds a new name to the list of lives lost to violence, and reminds us of the far-reaching, devastating impact that violence has on families and communities across Victoria.
Primary prevention means stopping violence before it starts. As it currently stands, family violence results in a police call-out every two minutes in Australia. If we can change attitudes that lead to early forms of family violence and violence against women, then over the course of a generation we can change the statistics that occur at the other end of the violence spectrum.
Change doesn’t happen quickly, but Respect Victoria’s legislative remit means an enduring focus and funding for family violence prevention.

The music accolades for Madison Avenue continued, thuswinning the ‘Best Dance Artist’ at the International Dance Awards in 2001 in Miami, an award that nominated international superstars such as: Destiny's Child, Madonna, NSYNC and Britney Spears. Ash Grunwald is an Australian musician.

The Victorian Government has commissioned the Deakin University Home Research Hub Team to conduct research into what is world best practice for an inclusive and accessible city.
The research funding came as a result of the Accessible and Inclusive City Taskforce Christine Couzens established after a series of forums and discussions with people with disabilities and relevant organisations across the Geelong region. The Empowerment Challenge and the idea behind the universal hub was born in 2017 from a small group of local women giving back to their community, mentoring younger mums.
It became apparent to the members there was a gap within services and these younger mums had difficulties finding a service which would fully support their needs.
The Empowerment Challenge specifically provide services to support the wellbeing of the younger mums under the age of 26 and those who birthed their child under 26.
Their point of difference being, no younger mum will age out of our service, they are welcome for as long as they need, if they fit in with the criteria, and work with other services to facilitate warm hand overs and promote smooth transitional engagement, allowing for time to build trusting relationships between participants and staff.

Adam Elliot is an Oscar Award winning independent stop-motion animation writer and director. He has become one of the world's most celebrated animators with films including Uncle, Cousin, Brother, Harvie Krumpet and Max and Mary.
In 2003 Harvie Krumpet, narrated by Geoffrey Rush, won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film, eclipsing the work of the Disney, Pixar and Fox studios. The Annecy International Animation Festival included Harvie Krumpet as one of the top 100 animated films of all time.
In 2009, Max and Mary won numerous Australian and international film awards. It was the official selection opening night film for Robert Redford's 2009 Sundance Film Festival - the first Australian and first animated film to be selected.
He was declared a Melbourne Icon by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, and he has a feature film due for release in 2020.

After years of filtering her image to try to conform, Amy posted a raw, unedited and real photo to Instagram in January. By doing so, she unknowingly ignited social media and began her call for fans to embrace their real selves and no longer buy into the airbrushed, un-real fantasy that lives on social media. In one post after another, she set about breaking down stigma about women’s bodies and telling everyone to #kissmyfatass if they didn’t like it, and was quickly joined by a cascade of support from women across the world joining in.
#kissmyfatass is a big middle finger to unrealistic beauty ideals: a rallying cry for women across the world, kicking back against the online culture of filtering so-called “flaws” and rejecting the toxic ideals promoted on social platforms full of “perfect” highlight reels.
Leading the conversation, Amy Sheppard boldly proclaimed she was no longer hiding anymore, saying “I’ve spent years trying to hide my flaws, to get the right lighting, the right pose, the right outfits all so I could hide.” Now, she’s embracing herself exactly how she is. A simple statement on paper, but one that’s radical for so many.
“I’m an average sized 12 woman,” said Amy. “The thing is, I’ve been labelled all throughout my life: “fat”, “too skinny”, “cellulite-y” even “a blob”. Worst of all, I’ve sprayed hate on myself. Sadly, I can’t say I have met a woman who hasn’t done the same.”

A malware attack was discovered by researchers from Check Point.
Dubbing it ‘Agent Smith, researchers from the Israel based cyber security firm say that the attack "allows hackers to replace legitimate apps with the fraudulent ones opening profit making doors to them".

Australian Ninja Warrior is back with a bang – all new, with huge cash incentives, tougher obstacles and fresh faces.
Two hundred inspired, everyday athletes have been training in preparation to take on the world’s toughest and most renowned obstacle course. Mums and dads, tradies and farmers, students and business owners of all shapes, sizes and ages from across Australia will line up to see if they have what it takes to win.

Dr Elizabeth Jens is a Torquay-raised NASA rocket scientist.
Currently working at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, Jens spends her time developing hardware for the next Mars rover in 2020, and devising new ways of fueling small space vehicles that will orbit around other planets.
Jens' childhood dream to be an astronaut is still an ambition of hers, which she hopes to fulfill in the not too distant future.

On Friday March 15, 50 lives were tragically taken and 50 people were injured after an Australian gunman stormed two mosques in Christchurch. He was arrested and charged of murder in a New Zealand court.
His actions have been globally condemed.
Meanwhile Senator Fraser Anning made several offensive statemnets at a recent Victorian rally, placing the blame of the recent attack on Muslim immigration. Outrage extended to a 17 years old male who targeted him with an egg to the head.
Both actions were irresponsible.
One man who opted to use the power of words and people power to address the decisiveness of Senator Annings comments was Harris Sultan. Along with Kate Admad, they launched a Change.org petition.

Bubbly and upbeat, single mum Susie has struggled to find the ‘crazy love’ she dreams of since parting ways with her childhood sweetheart. Mother of three-year-old daughter, Baby, Susie found herself single for the first time since the age of 14, when her partner moved out 18 months ago.
Susie admits she focuses too much on good looks and often finds herself attracted to bad boys who lose interest when they realize she’s a mother, so she’s yet to figure out her type and find a deeper connection with a solid match. Living on a 6.5 acre property with her mother, who helps Susie to juggle working life with being mum, she feels it’s time to find someone who can see who she is beyond the young single mum.

Billy is a deep-thinking and highly sensitive model and personal trainer who is the only child of a single mum who he is incredibly close to. His mother left his dad when Billy was very young – Billy has never seen him since and has never met his two half -siblings from his father’s subsequent relationship.
The keen actor and model studied a Bachelor of Performing Arts and spent his early 20s traveling up and down the north coast, surfing, working in small towns and keeping to himself. When his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he moved back home to be with his family – he describes this as his wake-up call. His mother is now in full remission, and Billy is determined to make a more constructive life for himself. He believes in love at first sight and just hopes the feelings are mutual for his new wife.
Susie spoke to several media outlets this week where she slammed her "husband" Billy.
“Billy is legitimately an actor, he did a degree at university so from the very beginning he made it quite clear that he was on the show to further his career and when I didn’t respond the same, he took 100 steps backward and from that minute I was onto him and it was bit of a nightmare.”
“Oh so hard, its 100% not how I thought it would be shown, I naively thought it would be both mine and Billy’s warts shown but unfortunately that’s not how it has played out,”
“I totally was not expecting for you not to see any of, I thought it was more interesting including all his psycho ways as well as mine but obviously not the case."
Outraged by these statements, Billy checked into the Departure Lounge with Stampsy and Josh, to air his side of the story.

The Mark West Foundation was established in October 2014 to help overcome the growing problem of disadvantaged kids missing out on opportunities due to their families financial situation, whilst remembering the man the foundation is named after.
Mark was a very talented footballer who had a highly distinguished junior career. He won several best and fairest awards, represented Geelong in U/15’s, U/16’s and then the Geelong Falcons.
On ANZAC Day in 1998 whilst playing in his senior team against St Mary’s, Mark passed away as the result of a tragic on field accident. He was 19 years old.
Whilst trying to establish his senior career, Mark also started coaching one of the junior football sides as a 17 year old. Mark recognised that he needed to be more involved in his Club than just playing. He loved kids and believed he had something to offer them so he took up coaching the U/11’s and continued this for nearly 3 years.
Junior coaching was a massive passion of Mark’s as he got an enormous amount of pleasure out of seeing kids enjoy and improve themselves. Mark was very strong about instilling the right values in the kids he coached. Things like respect, teamwork, discipline and hard work were always the message he tried to instil in the players.
Therefore, the Foundation raises funds via grant funding, corporate and private donations as well as fundraisers. These funds will then be used to provide as many scholarships as possible to children who qualify for assistance.

This week it was reported that Meghan Markle is breaking royal tradition by hiring a birth partner, known as a Doula, to help her get ready to have her first child with Prince Harry this April / May.
Traditionally, a Doula is a woman offering non medical support and information to other women and their partners during birth and the post natal period.

The mom-to-be has officially hired a birth partner, known as a Doula, to help her give birth to the bundle of joy this spring, according to US Weekly.
Renee Adair is the founder and principal educator of the Australian Doula College, The Groundwork Program and their charity-arm Doula Heart Network. She first began working with women and babies in 1994 as a massage and Aromatherapist and Reiki Practitioner and in 1998 began studying and working as a Doula, Childbirth and Early Parenting Educator and Birth Counselor.

Making a Murderer follows the trials of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey. Stephen Avery served 18 years in prison for the wrongful conviction of sexual assault and attempted murder of Penny Beerntsen.
He was again charged in 2005 and convicted in 2007 for the murder of Teresa Halbach. Avery’s nephew, Brendan Dassey, was accused and convicted as an accessory in the murder.
The discrepancies in the police work and judicial procedures in both cases have caused waves of concern and conversation about the justice system in America.
Steven Drizin is a Clinical Professor of Law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law where he has been on the faculty since 1991.
He served as the Legal Director of the Clinic's renowned Center on Wrongful Convictions from March 2005 to September 2013.
At the Center, Professor Drizin's research interests involve the study of false confessions and his policy work focuses on supporting efforts around the country to require law enforcement agencies to electronically record custodial interrogations.
Drizin co-founded the Center on Wrongful Convictions of Youth (CWCY) in 2008, the first innocence organization to focus on representing defendants who were only teenagers when they were wrongfully convicted.

Before even releasing their first album, U.K.-bred four-piece The Struts opened for The Rolling Stones in front of a crowd of 80,000 in Paris, got hand-picked by Mötley Crüe to serve as the supporting act for their four last-ever performances, and toured the U.S. on a string of sold-out shows that demanded the band move up to bigger venues to accommodate their fast-growing fanbase.
Now with their full-length debut Everybody Wants, lead vocalist Luke Spiller, guitarist Adam Slack, bassist Jed Elliott, and drummer Gethin Davies reveal the supreme mix of massive riffs and powerfully catchy melodies that’s already slain so many adoring audiences around the globe.
Forming The Struts in Derby, England, in 2012, all four members began making music as teenagers, initially finding inspiration in groups like Oasis and the Libertines and then tracking their idols’ influences to discover the glam bands that would one day shape their own sound.
The trademark tongue-in-cheek swagger of classic glam also played a key part in the naming of the band, Spiller points out.

It caught Stampsy's attention while she was out training for the Surf Coast Trek on the Labour Day Monday. She picked up the letter, curious to learn more about this brave woman and her creative way to find love.
Coincidently, the next day the letter was posted on Reddit and quickly went viral. As expected, the truth got lost as people started making assumptions.

The 26-year-old from "Melbourne" said she was over the "superficiality of dating apps" and instead wanted to try to meet someone the old-fashioned way - without drinking alcohol.
"Dating apps have never turned out well for me," she wrote on the lengthy letter.
"It would be refreshing to get to know someone who doesn't need to go out and get trashed every weekend with their friends."
People were quick to turn on her approach - labelling the list of requirements "toxic".
Stating her future man must be in good "physically and mental health", not a "creeper" and also "fit", some Reddit users - where the list was shared - have pointed out she may struggle to find someone with all her demands.

One week after she was killed - after getting off a tram near La Trobe University in Bundoora.
As we know, a man was charged days later.
There was an OUTCRY – a life cut short by a man allegedly known to police.
HEARTACHE- for a family who lost a daughter, sister, friend.
ANGER – at another senseless loss at the hands of a violent individual.
DISAPPOINTMENT- that we are once again, as women, told WHAT TO DO TO BE SAFE, when we should focus on the actions of the perpetrators.
And all these emotions are valid.
Every day we are hopeful that we will see ACTUAL change…. as the world keeps turning.
Is it selfish to move forward? Move on? No, it’s human nature.
So let’s move forward, with purpose. With inner strength and self-empowerment.

Together with Fiona from WISE self-defence, Stampsy & Jamie hosted a one night only lesson on how to protect ourselves if we ever face the scenario of being attacked by somebody (in any capacity) as well as tools to make sure we're as safe as we can be when out and about.

Red Frogs recognises that the culture of young people is dominated by alcohol. In situations such as Schoolies/Leavers Week, excessive consumption of alcohol and other substances means that things can often get out of hand and potentially alter the direction of a young person’s future.
Their volunteers act as the eyes and ears in accommodation venues and out on the streets, providing a positive peer presence to school leavers.
Over 1500 Red Frog volunteers provide direct relief, safety and support to young people during Schoolies/Leavers Week across 16 locations, including the Surf Coast.
They assist school leavers in many different ways, offering Pancake cook-ups, room visits & games, room cleans, emotional support, walk homes and red Frogs.
From an accountant by day and skateboarding youth worker at night, Andy Gourley saw a need for young people to be safeguarded - so he did something to meet that need.

A passionate sports lover he is an ambassador for the Sydney Swans and in 2016 had the honour of being their Number 1 Ticket holder. Listeners to his radio shows know well that he coached a women's soccer team at the University of Sydney for over a decade.

30-year-old Jessica Hood from Bacchus Marsh is already a doting mother to three small children and is currently pregnant with her fourth child, who is due on Christmas Day.
She is sharing their daily routine on Instagram at 'House of Hoods', which already has over 18.7k followers.
But she has decided to make their family life even more public by live streaming the birth of her new bundle of joy - for good reason.
"Due to a history of suffering post-natal depression, which I had back in 2013 with my first daughter, I will be documenting life with a newborn as well... especially focusing on those first 24 hours with baby,' she said.
Mostly Mrs Hood has been 'supported' by those around her for making the decision to share her birth, particularly because 'it will be quite discreet'.
